> A New Life > by bonejar69 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > World Changer > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The past few years of my life have been really weird. Now when I say weird I don't mean that I have had little odd ball occurrences. No I have literally had full blown world changers. I guess to really explain it I'll have to start from the beginning of mine starting with how I got to this new world. This all started about 5 years back. I had been having a great time with my friends. We were partying and just being crazy the whole night. We all go our separate ways and as I'm walking home this hooded person stops me. “Are you happy with the way the world is now” the hooded figure asked. “Yeah” I replied quickly while holding back a chuckle. “Are you happy with the way the world is now” the hooded figure asked again but with more emphasis on each of the words. I decided to play along with their question, curious as to what would happen if I said no. “No” I replied. “Then you shall have a new world to explore and a new life to live” the hooded figure said. The words sent a chill down my spine, but for what reason I was not sure of yet. They walked off and I was left standing there thinking on what they had said. I chose to ignore it and went home. Before I fell asleep, I heard a voice whisper what the hooded figure had said earlier. Then there was the darkness of sleep. Then there were voices. “Voices?” I thought “There isn't supposed to be anyone else here for two more days” As I listened I realized the voices did not belong to anyone I knew. I opened my eyes in shock at this realization. My shock only grew as I surveyed the scene around me. I was surrounded by ponies! And they were talking! I immediately thought that I was still asleep and dreaming until a purple pony introduced themselves and extended a hoof towards me cautiously as to initiate a handshake. “Hi my name is Twilight Sparkle. And you are?” the purple pony asked. “Convinced that I am still asleep” I responded. “I assure you that you are awake. Now what is your name?” she asked. “Oh I'm...... Gerald” I said as I finally accepted her handshake. “Well Gerald I have a question. I hope I'm not being rude but what exactly are you?” she asked as she cocked her head to one side. “I'm a human” I said. “A..... human?” one of the other ponies said in a soft voice “Not sure I've ever heard of anything called a human before.” I turned to discover the source of the voice. It came from a yellow pony that immediately started to back up as I looked at it. I turned back towards Twilight and asked “Am I scary or something?” “No that's just Fluttershy. She is pretty shy around others so don't take offense to it” she reassured. “Well where do we go from here?” I asked. “Well I'm going to head back to my library to see if I can find any book that has information on humans. You are welcome to come along if you want” she said. I followed her to the library and on the way she introduced me to her assistant Spike, a purple and green baby dragon. Once we got to the library, I watched as she levitated and sped read through what seemed to be a thousand books. Finally, she had gone through each of them when she said “I just can't seem to find anything pertaining to humans. Spike?” “Yes Twilight?” he said as he stepped forward. “Send a letter to Princess Celestia explaining the situation about Gerald here” she said and turned towards me “I have a few questions I want to ask you.” “Fine by me” I replied. She asked me all sorts of questions ranging from my age, to where I came from, and the other people from my world. “Your world sounds kind of hectic” she said. “Well when most of us hate each other it's not exactly going to be happy times” I replied. “I can't exactly say everything is always peaceful here in Equestria” she said. I raised an eyebrow questioningly. “Oh I'm sorry. I've spent all this time asking you questions that you haven't been able to ask any of your own” she said apologetically. “That's perfectly fine. I understand your curiosity about me. I'm just so incredibly interesting” I said throwing in a terrible British accent to increase the sarcasm of the last sentence. Twilight giggled “Well you seem to be different from how you described the rest of the humans from your world” she said happily. “Well I've always been a 'make everything a joke' kind of guy” I said. “Good. Now enough about your world. What do you want to know about this one?” she asked. “Well I'm guessing it's called Equestria from what you said earlier” I said. She nodded as to say that I was right. “What I really want to know is who is this Princess Celestia you mentioned earlier? Where I come from there is no longer a true royalty thing going on.” I said. Just then Spike came in holding a letter. He handed it to Twilight and she read it. “Well lucky you. You get to have your question answered from the source” she said “Princess Celestia is coming here to question you” she said. “How long until she gets here?” I asked. “Not long. Perhaps a half hour or so. Why do you ask?” she questioned. “Well I was kind of hoping to get something to eat. I haven't had breakfast yet and it is starting to torture me not having food in my stomach.” I said as I grasped my stomach. “Well we have oats and grass or if you are feeling like having something sugary we could head over to Sugar Cube Corner” she suggested. “Let's go to Sugar Cube Corner” I said. I wasn't hungry enough to settle for grass and oats quite yet. I chuckled to myself as I pictured myself eating grass. As we headed over to Sugar Cube Corner, we met up with some of Twilight's other friends who I recognized as the ones that had found me when I woke up. There was Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack. They all stared at me, studying me. I don't blame them. I looked as weird to them as they did to me. The one that seemed the most enthusiastic about meeting was Pinkie Pie who couldn't stop jumping around or talking for that matter. It was like she had swallowed the damn Energizer bunny. Even though they might have been ponies, they acted extraordinarily human like. The most interesting one had to have been Rainbow Dash who seemed to think that she needed to prove herself to me even though we had just met. She was a pegasus, a pony that had wings, and boasted that she was an extremely talented flier and then promptly proved it as she did a multitude of tricks in the sky. The other pegasus, Fluttershy, was the exact opposite. Heck, I don't think she even talked and if she did it was an extremely soft whisper. Rarity, a unicorn, was very interested in my clothing. She wasn't exactly impressed by it but she found it interesting nonetheless. The last pony, Applejack, had to have been the most perfectly balanced out of the group as she didn't seem to obsess over anything about me and even took on the role of trying to introduce me to everybody. She got about halfway through it before Pinkie Pie started naming off everyone she saw to me. Luckily that was short-lived as we got to Sugar Cube Corner. It had only been about ten minutes for the walk and they already tired me out. “Wait here” Pinkie Pie Said as she dashed into the bakery. She came out a minute later carrying a pan full of cupcakes. “Figured we should all eat since we're all here” she said as she handed out cupcakes. I took a bite of it and immediately wanted more. Pinkie noticed the look on my face and beamed with happiness. “Are these yours?” I asked. “Sure are. They're my secret recipe” she replied. “Well they are delicious” I said smiling. She beamed even brighter at that response and took to bouncing around everywhere as we waited in front of the bakery. > New Resident > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The half hour passed and I sat on the ground waiting for some sort of sign that this Princess Celestia had shown up. “Look, there she is!” Twilight said. That’ll work for me. I immediately shot up eager to get this over with. Princess Celestia was descending down in a chariot being driven by two rather large looking pegasus ponies. She was immediately greeted by Twilight and was brought over to me. “I'm guessing that this is Gerald?” she asked no one in particular. “I am, your majesty,” I said. She looked me over and said “And he just appeared out of thin air?” she questioned everyone present. They all nodded their heads. This seemed to trouble her for a split second and then she immediately brushed it off. “Well it is my honor to officially welcome you to Equestria, Gerald,” she said. “The honor is all mine,” I responded trying to keep up my upper-class language. I was trying to remember lines from movies and books that I had read that could be useful while talking to royalty. She smiled and turned towards Twilight. “You said that you had no information regarding humans. Is that correct?” she asked. “Yes, Princess,” Twilight said. “Well I would expect as much. No human has been in Equestria since the beginning of my rule,” Celestia said. Twilight stood there with a puzzled look on her face. “Are you saying that humans have been in Equestria before?” she asked. “Yes. It has been a long time since one has been here though. I wonder what brought Gerald here?” she questioned as she turned towards me. At that moment I remembered the hooded figure and their words. “I think I know what happened your majesty,” I said. I retold the events that took place before I woke up in Equestria. “So you believe this person to be the reason that you are here now?” Celestia asked. “Yes your majesty,” I replied. “Well then we'll have to figure out what they did so you can go back,” she said and turned towards Twilight “You should run some tests…” she was cut short as I spoke up. “Wait!” I said “Don't you want to know how I feel on this?” I asked with a little bit of hurt showing in my eyes. “Well don't you want to go back?” Twilight asked. “Well...... not really. I mean I'll miss everyone that I left behind but I've already enjoyed myself more here in this short time than my entire life back in my world,” I responded. “What about your family?” Twilight asked. “Won't they be concerned about you?” “Not exactly,” I said as I lowered my head “I haven't been completely honest with you Twilight. I don't have a family, at least not anymore. My parents died when I was ten and the rest of my family doesn't even know I exist,” I said as I held back a few tears. “Then it's decided,” Twilight said confidently “Gerald shall stay here and we will be his new family!” I looked up dumb-struck and wide-eyed. “Everyone deserves to have a family Gerald,” she said as she smiled at me. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran over to her as I cried my eyes out and hugged her “Thank you Twilight. You have no idea how much this means to me,” When I finally stopped crying, I looked up and asked “If I'm going to stay here, where will I live?” “I could arrange for a home to be built for you. Until then,” she looked at Twilight “Would you be willing to let Gerald stay with you until the completion of his home?” “Of course your majesty.” she said. “I don't know what to say. I guess thank you Princess would be appropriate,” I said through my smile. Princess Celestia smiled and said “I must be off. I will see you again once your home is complete. Until then, good-bye” With that she left. I was immediately attacked with hugs by the rest of the group and they all said something along the lines of welcome to the family. Pinkie Pie threw a party in my honor and promised an “even more super duper spectacular” one once my house was completely built. On the way back from the party, Twilight stopped and I turned around. “What's wrong Twilight?” I asked. “Well I have a question,” she said “Go ahead.” “Well, I don't want to be rude but why didn't you tell me about your family?” “Well...” I searched for the right words “It's a painful thing for me to talk about, and I didn't really know you yet.” “Well is there anything else that I should know?” she asked caringly “I gave you the full truth about everything else. That was the only thing that I wasn't sure about,” I said. With that she came up to me and nuzzled her head against me. “I just want you to know that if there is anything you need to talk about or if you are having any trouble that you can always talk to me about it,” she said. “Thank you Twilight,” I said. The months following were quite calm. I helped around the library and Twilight taught me everything I needed to know about living in Equestria. After a while of helping around the library, she gave me the title of world's 2nd best assistant (so as to not upset Spike). Once my house was finally finished and Pinkie Pie's “even more super duper spectacular” party was done, everyone went there separate ways and I was left alone to think about how I would spend the rest of my time here. Around midnight, I heard a knock at my door. I got up and went to the door thinking that someone was pretty crazy for coming here this late. I opened the door and to my surprise, Twilight was standing there kicking at the ground. “Uhmm Twilight, what are you doing here this late?” I questioned. It might have been my imagination or my sleep deprivation but I was almost certain I saw her blush. “Well I needed to talk to you but I couldn't do it with everyone else around,” she said still kicking at the ground. “Well come in. No use having you stand outside and catch a cold.” I swear she blushed even harder. “Thank you,” she said and trotted in. I turned on a few lights and turned towards her. “Now what do you have to talk to me about?” I asked. “Well I wanted to ask you if you were gonna be alright living here by yourself?” she said. It seemed as though she was fumbling with her words. “Yeah. Why do you ask?” “Oh, no reason. Just thought you might get lonely here by yourself,” she responded. Something clicked in my mind. “Twilight, are you ok with me no longer living with you?” Now I was certain she was blushing because I could clearly see her in the light. “Me? Yeah I'm fine with it. I'm perfectly fine with it,” she said and looked all around the room. “Twilight remember that first night after I arrived here?” I asked. She looked at me. “Yeah.” “And do you remember what you said to me on the walk back home?” I asked. “Yeah,” she said. “Well that's a two-way street. Now talk to me Twilight. How do you really feel about me moving out?” I said with a caring look on my face. She put her head down and said “I don't want you to go. It won't be the same without you there.” “I'm not that far away. It's only two minutes,” I said. “That's not the point. You won't be there when I wake up. You won't be there when I fall asleep,” she said sadly. Now it was my turn to blush. “Twi... Twilight, what are you saying?” I stammered. “I'm saying that I.... I love you Gerald!” she said. I saw how sad she was and I went over to her and held her close to me. “It's ok Twilight. I might not live there anymore but I will be over there all the time,” I said “And you are always welcome over here anytime.” I held her tighter. After a while I let go and she looked up at me. “I have a question” she said. “Go ahead.” “How do you feel about me?” she asked. I blushed and looked away. “Well.... I've always..... kind of..... had a crush on you...” my voice trailed off as I spoke. She put her hoof on my chin and brought my head down so she could kiss me. I was shocked and blushed a deep crimson. She broke the kiss and started apologizing. “I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that” “Stop that. You did what you felt was right and I'm not exactly complaining about it” I said as I regained my senses. She blushed darkly and looked up at the clock. “Oh I've kept you up too late. I should be going” She started to walk towards the door. “And exactly where do you think you are going?” I said with a mischievous grin. “Back... home?” she said confused. “I'm not having anypony walking back home this late at night. You'll stay here for the night.” Her entire face went crimson when I said that. “Well... uh where.... will I sleep?” she asked nervously. “Oh calm down. I have a guest bedroom but just in case you need me I'll leave my door open. Now before we don't have enough energy to make it back to our rooms...” I gestured towards the stairs. I showed her to the guest bedroom and said good night and kissed her on the cheek. She smiled and closed the door. I went to my bedroom and changed into my silk pajamas (thank you Rarity) and quickly fell asleep on my bed only to wake up twenty minutes later as I felt something else get into my bed and drape my arm around itself. “Good night Gerald,” Twilight said. “Good night Twilight,” I said and gave her a quick kiss on the lips before falling back into the most relaxing sleep I had had since coming here. > Complications of the Mind and Body > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up with the feeling of something warm and soft in my arms. I quickly remembered that it was Twilight and smiled. “So are you up finally?” I heard her ask. “Were you watching me sleep?” I asked as I opened my eyes. “Yes… is that creepy?” She sounded very worried. “It’s fine. If we weren’t…. well I guess we aren’t technically…..” I trailed off. “Do you mean dating?” she asked as a blush appeared on her face. I rubbed the back of my head and smiled. “Well, yeah.” I said with the brightest smile I could manage. “Well I’d like to think that we are. I mean, we did share a bed together last night” she pointed out. “And right now too” I said with a smirk. She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Yes and now too.” She gave me a friendly nudge which evolved into a wrestling match between us. Seeing as how she had superior leg strength (damn Applejack training her), she won. I made her work for that win though. She kept me pinned down for a few minutes and just stared at me. She had a sort of waiting expression on her face. Taking the hint, I leaned up and kissed her. She smiled and let me up. “Winner always gets a prize, huh?” I asked with a smirk. She blushed and nodded. “Good to know. Now I have a reason to put some effort in. Time for round two,” I say with what was left of my strength. And then the adrenaline kicked in. And then I found myself waking up in a bed that was definitely not mine. “Will he be ok Nurse Redheart?” I heard someone ask. “He’ll be fine. He just had a stress induced blackout. He just needs to calm down and take it easy for a couple of days and he’ll be back on his feet in no time,” I heard someone respond who I assumed was Nurse Redheart. I opened my eyes and slowly leaned up to the sight of all my friends in a hospital room standing around the bed I was laying in. They all looked at me at once and breathed a collective sigh of relief. “Anyone mind telling me what happened?” I asked. “Well you passed out,” Nurse Redheart responded. “Yeah, I realized that. I meant more along the lines of why” I said as I rubbed the back of my head. It felt kind of sore. Maybe I fell and hit it my head or something. “Well, as I just told Twilight, you had a stress induced blackout. We can’t tell for certain, but it seems as though under large amounts of extended stress your heart slows immensely causing the flow of blood to your brain to practically become non-existent,“ Nurse Redheart explained. This news was frightening to me. This had never happened to me before and, in my opinion, I had been in more stressful situations than what had happened in the last week. “Now for the big question. Will I be ok?” I asked as my anxiety rose. “You’ll be fine. You just need to relax and get some bed rest for a few days,” she reassured me. I laid back and sighed in relief. Twilight trotted up to me and put her hoof on my hand. “So how do you feel?” Twilight asked as she stared at me worriedly. “Well I am extremely relieved now that I know that I’m not going to die because of this. Other than that, the worst thing is this soreness that I have in the back of my head.” I rubbed the back of my head softly and winced when I found the pain center. “Well you did fall backwards onto your bedpost. You’re just lucky that you didn’t hurt yourself too badly,” she said. “Wait how do you know what happened?” someone asked. Rainbow Dash came forward and gave Twilight a skeptical look. “Yeah, how DO you know?” Rarity also questioned. Twilight started to back up and was getting very nervous as everyone started throwing questions at her… everyone except for Pinkie Pie that is. She came over to me and started to study me. She looked me up and down, then a mischievous smile spread across her face. “Oh you know how she knows don’t you?” she whispered to me. I blushed darkly and hid my face under a pillow so that no one saw how I was acting. “So how was she?” Pinkie asked brashly. “PINKIE!” I whispered harshly. “What? It’s a legitimate question,” she defended. “No. It’s nowhere near a legitimate question,” I responded, embarrassed. “Oh fine. You’re no fun.” “I’m a lot of fun when I’m not being asked personal questions.” “Excuses, excuses.” “You know, you aren’t being that much of a help for my medical situation.” “You’re too easily stressed out. Maybe you and Twilight really should..” “PINKIE!” I took the pillow off of my face and went wide-eyed. “Not. Appropriate.” “I’m just trying to look out for you. Safeguard your well-being and all that,” Pinkie Pie said as she waved a hoof in the air. “You should leave my well-being in the hooves of Nurse Redheart over there. So, please Pinkie, don’t stress me out anymore. And don’t mention any of this to anyone else, please?” I pleaded. “You have my word. I will tell no one,” she promised with a large grin. “Tell no one what?” Fluttershy questioned as she walked up. “That Twilight and Gerald are dating,” Pinkie Pie said enthusiastically. “WHAT?” everyone yelled in unison. “I… I… I hate you Pinkie Pie,” I mumbled under my breath. And then I fell back into the bed as I lost consciousness again. I awoke some time later to find my room empty and a letter on my stomach. I opened it up and read it. “Dear Gerald, I’m sorry I made you pass out. I didn’t mean for that to happen. I hope you don’t hate me. Yours truly, Pinkie Pie” “Well at least she apologized,” I thought to myself. At that moment, Nurse Redheart walked in carrying a tray of food in her mouth. She set it down next to me and said “Looks like you’re awake again. I had everyone leave… indefinitely.” “Thanks. Any more of that and I’m not sure I’d be willing to get back up,” I said as I smiled. “I figured as much. You might have been unconscious but you were still blushing a shade of red that I only see on the worst of days,” she said as she started flipping through my chart. “Oh great. Well how long until I leave the safety of the hospital?” I asked. “Today. In a couple of hours to be more precise,” she responded as she finished looking through the chart. “How long was I asleep?” I asked, shocked. “Two days. You were conscious for about a minute yesterday, but then you fell right back asleep. I guess your body just decided to shut down for a while,” she said somewhat absent mindedly. “Well at least I got some rest,” I shook my head, “Am I allowed to walk around a bit?” “I see no problem with it. Just don’t leave the hospital until you get my say-so,” she responded with a shrug. I stretched and felt about thirty cracks as I twisted my back. I slowly got out of bed and stretched every muscle I could. Finding everything to be in order, I proceeded on a slow jog around the hospital. I came back to the room with a huge smile on my face. Nurse Redheart was straightening my bed up and gave me a gentle smile as she noticed me. “A visitor came for you and seeing as how you were going to be let out in an hour anyway…” she trailed off as she looked towards her right. I looked over to see Twilight as she was flipping through a book that I assume that she had brought with her. “How long have you been waiting?” I asked, fearing that I had made her wait for me for a long time. “Not too long. Around ten minutes or so. Nothing you should worry about,” she said with a smile. “Ok, but I still don’t feel right about making you wait for any amount of time. I mean, you are the only one who I wouldn’t run from as soon as I saw them at this point,” I said with shrug and a smile. “Well that’s good. Since we’re somewhat on the topic of the rest of our friends I feel as though I should warn you. They are supposed to be waiting outside for you, me too now, for when you are released from the hospital. And they are ready with a million questions about us, so be ready,” she finished. I turned to Nurse Redheart “Is that window breakable?” I asked as nonchalantly as possible. “Well yes but why would you…” She was cut off as I ran full speed at the window. I never reached it as Twilight’s magic enveloped me and stopped me mid-run. “Now exactly where do you think you are going?” Twilight asked in an irritated tone. “Out the window. It’s a reasonable reaction,” I defended as I was floated back towards Twilight. “You are not going to jump out of a window. You are going to come outside with me, using the front door, and we are going to tell them all that we are dating. Is that understood?” she growled at me. “Yes ma’am!” I saluted her. She blushed, “Was I really that commanding?” she asked. “Kind of. It was actually exciting having you shout orders at me. Most likely due to the fact that I haven’t had anything to do the past few days except be unconscious,” I responded with a smirk. “I’ll keep that in mind,” she said with a wink. I shook my head, “So are we going to go out there or did you decide to consider my window exit strategy?” “We’re going but I wanted to do this before we got out there,” and then she kissed me. Very passionately. She left me catching my breath and saying “Remind me how to get that to happen more often.” We were barely outside the hospital for a split second before Pinkie Pie’s voice let out a thunderous “THERE THEY ARE!” and then we were surrounded by all of our friends and bombarded with questions. “One at a time, one at a time,” I tried to say but was drowned out by their rising voices. “I can handle this,” Twilight said reassuringly and let out a loud and bright explosion from her horn that instantly deafened and blinded me. It had the same effect on everyone else too, including those that were just innocent bystanders. “Now will you all be quiet and patient so we can answer your questions one by one?” Twilight asked, agitated. They all nodded their heads. My vision returned and I looked over at Twilight. “A little more warning next time, maybe? I can barely tell where I am anymore,” I rubbed my eyes and looked at our waiting group of friends. “Now let’s get this over with.”
