> Doctor Whooves: The Rise of the Nightmares > by Giratina3456 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prolouge > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Celestia's warm sun had just peaked over the mountain tops over the vast meadow when the TARDIS materialized. Its door creaked as it was pulled open from the inside and out emerged the chestnut colored stallion emerged from within. The Doctor peered out upon the grassy meadows before him. Despite the sun that had just risen to the point of view, It's light had not yet touched the meadows grassy blades, giving an impression of a meadow before dawn. "Alright, where have you brought me this time ol' girl?" he said turning his head back to the blue box, his gaze then returned to the meadow. Past a group of trees in the distance, came a faint glow of town lights going out one by one at the appearance of the dawn. Surely this is where he was to go, he looked back at the TARDIS one more time before he proceeded in a trot in the direction of the town. He had chosen to spend sometime away from ponyville, and see the rest of Equestria and what it had to offer, lending Ditzy some time with her two daughters and not having to be concerned with their travels. He had always wanted to see what else was there, he had only arrived in Equestria a short while ago, even in his own time stream, ever since the TARDIS had slipped through the crack in time and space and landed here. Silver Stream had passed out in the grass, she had been awake for most of the night last night. She had been stargazing with Comet Trail, as she lifted her head, she can tell even through the blurriness of her fatigue that Comet Trail was no where to be seen. It appeared that Comet Trail had packed up her telescope and left earlier that morning. Silver Stream seemed a little irritated at that Comet Trail had not woken her before she had left but quickly dismissed it. Her slight vertigo of awaking was suddenly interrupted by the sound of approaching hoof steps. Silver Stream's ears perked up high and she rose to her hooves to locate the sound. Her head turned to the approaching earth pony stallion, she had not seen him around Foalsom before and kneeled back down to keep from view. As he passed her attention grew to his cutie mark, an Hourglass. She pondered on who in the town may have had an hourglass cutie mark, but her mind's results came blank. Her curiosity of the pony came to the better and she rose to her hooves once again and decided to introduce herself. The Doctor had not spotted the wintergreen colored pegasus as he passed her. He continued on his way towards the town, now with a few buildings in view, suddenly the silence around him was halted by a snapping sound from behind him, a sound of a snapping twig. In an instant he stopped in his tracks and whipped his head around and set his gaze on the wintergreen colored pegasus. "Hello there, mister." Silver Stream said cheerfully to the stallion. "Oh hello." he replied softly, still slightly stunned at how long it took him to notice her following him. "What's wrong, you seemed shocked, what have you never seen a pegasus before?" she asked calmly. "Oh no, its just I was a little surprised to see you following me." He turned his body around. "Oh I wasn't following you, at least not for long,I just wanted to meet you."she said as she gave him a sweet smile. He wasn't sure how to respond to it and remained quiet, He thought of a way to reply but the thought was cut off by her continuing. "You're new around here, or at least haven't seen you before." she continued. "Well, I just arrived." he started back towards the town. "oh.... Oh yeah, by the way, I'm Silver Stream!" she said as she leaped of after him. "Nice to meet you Silver Stream, I'm the Doctor." He replied turning his head back to her with a smile. "That's an unusual, not a common name for ponies." she said as she looked at him with curiosity, He remained quiet, It was odd for him slightly, he was used to people or ponies asking 'Doctor Who?' after he introduces himself. She asked "So what brings you to Foalsom around this time of year?". "Oh! I'm in Foalsom, Brilliant! I've always wanted to see this place!" he said excitedly. She looked at him with a really confused look, "wait you seriously didn't know where you were?". "Well, no I sort of just made the settings to a random." he replied to her question. She gazed around at the ground and shook her head around in confusion. "Doctor, you're not making any sense!" she said with a slight irritation. He slowly stopped, and turned his head, "That's what a lot of ponies say to me." He grins wide and turns his head back around. She shook her head around and put a smile back on her face. "So, what can you tell me about Foalsom?" he asked as she catches up beside him. "Oh well Foalsom's a great little town, filled with shops, restaurants, parks and other recreational places, We have a river that geographically divides the town in half, oh and there’s this big lake up in the northeast area of the town, its so pretty! and it's water is just perfect during the summer times." She explained with joy. "Sounds lovely, can't wait to see." he said back. They eventually came to the edge of the grassy meadow, where it came to a dirt path leading down a cliff face where the town could be viewed from, she turned her head to him as he gazed out at the small town. “So, what do you think?” she asked. “I think it's brilliant.” he replied. They proceeded down the dusty path till it had converted to stone and had arrived in the town square. The Doctor looked around at the buildings and the other lively ponies that bustled through the little town, he smiled, It reminded him of Ponyville. He turned to the pegasus and said “Well Ms. Stream, Thank you for all your help, but this is where we part.” he holds out his hoof as if expecting a handshake. She seemed confused at first, then slightly sad, she put her hoof to his and shook it. “I guess this is goodbye then.” she says quiet. He started trotting of and stopped and turned his head, “Maybe, you never know when we might meet again.” he said before trotting off again. Silver Stream stood in her place as her walked out of view and vanished into the crowds of ponies down the sidewalk. “What a nice stallion.” she said quietly as she turned back around and proceeded home. 5am The following morning Silver Stream had tossed and turned all night long, Despite to perfect silence the town gave off at night, It almost seemed impossible to get sleep for her. She gazed over at her clock on her nightstand to check the time, she frowned at it and sat up, She whispered to her self “ahh... I give up, its futile to sleep now.” she rubbed her eyes with her hooves and climbed out of her bed and trotted to the window, she looked out and to her surprise, The stallion she saw earlier was walking y the house back in the direction of the meadow. She knew he was leaving again and still wanted to know more about him. “Oh no you don't “ she whispers as she heads to her bedroom door. She galloped down the stairs and out the front door, he had already gone out of sight, she frowned and proceeded in the direction of the path to the meadow. She kept her wings tight to her body for the flapping would wake the other ponies sleeping. She charged through the meadow in the path he had mad while passing through the meadow himself, she thought in her mind 'no, I won't lose him, I gotta catch up to him!' she came to the hill below the clearing where she caught a glimpse of him at the top. “Doctor! Wait! Don't go yet, there's a lot I still want to-” Hey yelling was silence at the sight of the blue box, the Doctor had been opening it and turned his head around to look around to look at her, his mouth agape at the sight of her. They stood there for a moment, but what seemed like an eternity staring at each other in shock, finally one became brave enough to speak. “Doctor, what is that?” she asked calmly. He finally snapped from his stare, and calmed down “Oh, yeah uh... this? This is the TARDIS.” he replied. “A what?” she tilts her head in confusion. He sighs and shakes his head, “Silver, I'm a time traveler, This box here, is what takes me through Space and Time.” he turns back to the TARDIS and pushes it open, “Come I'll show you.” he trots inside. “Doctor, there is no way we can fit in there..” she said. She eventually sighed when the Doctor refused to respond and trotted inside. Her eyes widened wide as she caught the first glimpse of the inside. Her gaze flashed all around the room, and she was struck with utter awe. “welcome aboard the TARDIS!” he exclaimed in cheer as her galloped up to the control console. This shocked her out of her blank stare, “I-I-It's-” she began “ 'Bigger on the inside'? Yes indeed, the TARDIS stands for 'Time and Relative Dimension in Space.', Brilliant isn't it?” he asked as he operates some of the controls and glances back over at her. She was still was speechless. He smiled and returned to the console controls. “Oh and can you please close the TARDIS door for me, I'm a little busy over here and It's a little hard to fly long distances with the door open.” she snapped out of the stun of the awe and respond. “Oh uhh.. sure!” she replied as she galloped to the door and pushed it closed. “All right, lets see where should I show I you... Oh, I know!” he called out as he ran around the console. He pulled a lever down upon the console. “ALLONS'Y!” He cried out as the TARDIS made it's familiar Wrooping sound. The TARDIS shook around slightly catching Silver Stream off guard and flinging her against the wall. “oww...” she moaned. “Oh sorry about that!” said the Doctor when he noticed her hitting the wall. The TARDIS started to shake less and eventully the shaking came to a halt. “Here we are!” he said as he moves away from the console and to the door. “W-where are we?” she asked rubbing her head with her hooves then returning to her hooves. “ A whole new planet, come see.” he said calmly with a smile. She came to his side and he pulled the door open. She walked out and her jaw seemed to go numb as it felt to have hit the ground below her. She knew she was no longer standing on Equestria. A planet of bluish hued rock with tall spires of said rocks. The waters were of a shade of purple and hints of green. And to the skies above rocks broken off from the spires scattered through the Bluish sky. “Oh my Celestia... “ she quietly said trying to feel her jaw. “incredible isn't it?” he asked. “yeah..” she manages to lift her jaw again. “Hey, Doctor?” she asked quietly, “Eh?” he replied. “I believe you.” Later... (sorry couldn't think of what to put here.) The TARDIS began to materialize on a Foalsom street corner, the door opened and the the two ponies came out still laughing about what happened. “Oh my, that was so hilarious!” she said trying the catch her breath from laughing. “Yeah, did you see that fish' face!” he said also trying to catch his breath. They broke into laughing again, “Well then, I guess this will be good bye for now. “ he says finally calmed down. “I guess so, please come back soon OK?” she asked with a calm smile. “yeah.” he replied to her softly. He turned back to the TARDIS and trotted in,closing the door behind him. The TARDIS started up and began to dematerialize. Eventually it was gone and Silver was alone in the evening sun of the town. “See you soon Doctor..” > Birth of the Storm > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doctor Whooves: Rise of the Nightmare Chapter 1: Birth of the Storm 3 months later.... Silver Stream had left her quiet riverside home of Foalsom. She seeked new adventure, she went around Equestria and tried all there was and saw all there was. Her friends back in Foalsom had encouraged her to go see the world, and travel for a while. It was the main reason for her travels, but deep down, she wanted to find the Doctor again. She had found herself awoken by the gray light of morning, beside a misty creek in the Everfree Forest, she had lifted her head and peered up at the opening in the canopy and took a deep breath. She rose to her hooves and lifted her bags over her back. Looking around at the brush of the forest floor and remembered the direction she was traveling to. She began her hike through the trees again. She pushed her way through the thick vines the strung themselves through the trees. It finally appeared in sight the lost temple of the Everfree. It's towering pillars stood strong despite its great ages and the structure’s wall paintings had faded away to the point of where it was undecipherable. She didn't mind, for that wasn't the reason she was there. She had come to look for the lost treasure of the Everfree itself, but unaware to her, she wasn't alone. On the far side of the temple, two mares approached the aged structure. The blue pegasus kept her eyes in a stare down at her hooves, so she would not accidentally step in mud or whatever may else may exist in the forest. The gray pegasus kept her eyes forward and remained determined to explore the temple. “Honestly Compass Rose! Did you have to pick a place so dark and smelly, Couldn't we have gone to a luxury spa resort or something, Ah! The stench is horrid!” complained the blue pegasus. “Oh, please don't complain Frost Lace, you let me choose the trip.” said Compass Rose turning her head back to Frost Lace. “HMP!” she scoffed while turning her head away. They proceeded in. Silver entered the temple from the other entrance. The air around her was ominous and eerie. It gave a creepy vibe that made Silver Stream question why she entered this place after all. But despite her mental desire to leave, she pushed her self to continue on. Compass Rose and Frost Lace entered a chamber within the large structure, “Oooohh, This must be where the cooked and prepared the food!” she said as she galloped around the old containers. “These ancient ponies must have had very exquisite parties.” commented Frost Lace. They eventually finish there investigation of the room and proceed on. “C'mon! I want to see the main chamber in the center of the temple!” called out Compass Rose as she galloped off. Her voice echoed off the walls as she ran. Frost Lace just graceful followed her. Silver had arrived at the Center hall already by then. The opening at the top of the roof allowed sunlight to shine down right into the platform at the center of the hall. Compass Rose walked up to the opening to the chamber when she noticed the other pony in the room as well, she watched the wintergreen mare make her way down the steps of the temple to the center platform in the middle of the room. “Compass? Where did you go?” asked Frost from down the hall. “Oh there you are dear, I was wonderi-” Compass had pulled Frost Lace behind a column and covered her chatty mouth with her hooves. “Shhhhhh.... Were not alone..” she whispered in Frost Lace's ear. Compass peered around the column to get a look at the mare below. To Silver Stream's surprise, the room began to get darker. She looked around and then up to discover the moon beginning to cover over Celestia's sun. A solar eclipse. “Oh whoa...” Silver whispered to herself. “I don't suppose they're here for the royal treasure, are they?” she whispered over to Frost Lace. “wha- TREASURE?!” she yelled out as she peeked over the column. Compass quickly pulled her back. Frost went to the other side of the pillar. “ROYALTY!?” she yelled again. Compass pulled her back again, hoping the pony didn't hear them, but their luck had run out. Silver Stream heard the sound of talking coming from somewhere in the room. “Who's there?” she called out looking around in different directions. From the skylight opening a dark mist began to pour down into the chamber. “uh.. NO ONE!” called out Frost Lace. Compass covered Frost's mouth again “Shut up!” she hissed in her ear. The mist reached the platform and circled around Silver Stream. She took a step back but quickly withdrew when she notice it had her surrounded. “w-whats going on?” she calls out in confusion. “Whats happening?” whispered Frost Lace up to Compass Rose. Compass peered over the coll um, she squinted her eyes to get a good view of the pegasus. She had a glimpse of her before the mist suddenly engulfed poor Silver Stream whole. Silver let out a shriek of pain. “Take cover!” yelled Compass pushing Frost Lace to the floor and holding her down. A surge of energy spread through the area but soon calmed and all became silent. Compass managed to push herself to her hooves and looked to see if the mare was ok. Her eyes widened at what she gazed upon. The pegasus that stood there was no longer as she was, her mane had became longer and whipped around in the wind. Her coat had darken and her size had almost doubled, almost the size of the alicorn sisters. The mare's head hanged low and motionless. The mist faded away completely. The silence was finally broken at the sound of a sinister laugh emanating from the pegasus' mouth, It echoed across the room. She opened her eyes , now appearing to be those of a snake and lifted her head to the sky. Frost Lace in her ignorance of the laugh peers around the column and calls out “Hello~ are you ok!?” Compass pulled her back behind the column. “It's clearly more sinister now! Run!” she told Frost Lace and pushed her to the door. “Ah, fresh meat.” called out the mare that was Silver Stream. She took off after the two pegasi fleeing for they're lives. Frost let out a long scream of terror as the gallop for their lives. “Don't worry Frost! The hallways here are like a maze, she will never find us!” she called to her trying to keep her calm. It didn't seem to help but at least she stopped screaming. “We will be ok-” yelled Compass Rose before she got cut off by the wall crumbling down on top of them. On the other side of the wall, hurricane speed winds flurried around and through the wall. The dark pegasus stood just on the other, her hair still drifting around from the winds. The two managed to lift themselves from the rubble and huddle up to each other in fear as the mare approached. “Hello mortal ponies~” said the mare with an evil grin across her face. “Who are you? Asked Compass with a bit of a studded. “WHAT DO YOU WANT!?” screamed out Frost Lace sounding like a crybaby. The mare smirked. “Who am I you ask?” she begins fluttering her wings lifting her of the ground “In my mortal life I was known as 'Silver Stream' but no more! For now I am, NIGHTMARE TYPHOON!” she roared. The pegasai embrace each other again, this time tighter. Frost then frowned and retorted to the nightmare, “I have never heard of you.” Nightmare Typhoon immediately growled under her breath and landed on the floor stomping her hooves and got close to the blue mares face and yelled, “Just because I am a new nightmare does not mean you can immediately disgrace me!!” Her yell made Frost Lace's mane blow back. She lifted her head back up and pounded her hoof again. “Well what are you gonna do with us..?” asked the fearful Compass Rose. The nightmare smirked again, “I was chosen by the nightmare energy to create a new army, and I think I'll start with you two.” she said leaning her head down to their faces. “What has anypony ever done to you? Why do this?” asked Compass. “WHY!? Because of you equestrians the Nightmares were destroyed, now you all must pay the price!!” yelled out Typhoon. “But how will you pull it off, there is only one of you.” commented Compass Rose. “Well lets see,” hissed Typhoon as her eyes began to glow “Who wants to volunteer first?” asked staring at the pegasai. After a moment of silence Frost Asked “Is there any benefits?” “Frost!” hissed Compass Rose at Frost Lace. “Oh yes, not only absolute superiority to everypony else, but amazing power and long life.” replied Typhoon. “How do I sign up?” asked Frost Lace rising to her hooves and trotting up to the nightmare. “You can sign up now” answered Typhoon. Streams of dark energy flowed from Typhoon's eyes and strait into Frost's. Compass watched in horror as her friend began to transform into a nightmare pony. "Welcome, Nightmare Blizzard." added Typhoon. When the transformation ended the mare that was Frost Lace exclaimed “Ahhh the felt great! Now my dear Nightmare Typhoon we will rule this petty world!!” Compass to advantage of their distraction and took off down the hall. She spread her wings open and began flying as fast as her wings can carry her. “What the- GET HER!” screamed out Nightmare Typhoon. The two nightmares made chase. But It was too late by the time they arrived, Compass Rose was far gone. Nightmare Typhoon growled loudly in her frustration. Compass had made her way out of the Everfree Forest and past over the skies of Ponyville. She did not plan to stop there, she proceeded on to the place where she could find the only pony who could stop them, Canterlot. > Fall of Canterlot > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doctor Whooves Rise of the Nightmare Chapter 2 Fall of Canterlot The Nightmares took off high into the cloud covered sky and began to pursue poor Compass Rose's trail. “Blizzard.” Called out Typhoon, The blue nightmare turned her head and responded, “Yes?” “You were allies with the little pest, what would you predict her actions to be?” asked the green nightmare. “If I was her, I'd barricade myself in my home but that was my former life, I assume she would find someone who would now how to fight us.” answered Nightmare Blizzard. “Like Celestia?” she asked with a slight tune she faced forward in her flight path and grinned evilly. The two nightmares changed their path and took off in the direction of Equestria's Capital city: Canterlot. Compass Rose began to grow weary as she finally landed upon the terrace of the palace, she had flown all the way from the Everfree Forest, she paused a moment and caught her breath again, she ran up to the a group of guards patrolling the front of the palace, “Halt, please state your business, ma'am.” said one of the guards noticing her presence. She panted for was still low on breath, “An urgent message for the princesses.” answered the gray mare, The guards detected no lie in her statement. “Very well, We shall announce you immediately-” said the guard before he got cut off. “There is no time, We may be in serious danger!” yelled out Compass Rose. “Very well, I escort you immediately.” The guard had brought her into the throne room. Celestia had been writing a response to a letter she had received earlier, most likely from her student Twilight Sparkle in Ponyville. She paused when she noticed the guard and Compass Rose gallop up to the throne. He removes his helmet and bows in her presence. “Your majesty, This mare has an urgent message for you and your sister's attention.” said the Guard. “Huh did someone mention me?” said Luna overhearing the Guard. She trotted out from another room and joined her sister. “Ah yes, Luna this is Compass Rose, she says that she has something important to say.” replied Celestia. They their heads to face her. Compass Rose spoke “Your Highness-es, I have just flown a long way, from the Everfree Forest, I witnessed a great evil, one that Equestria has not faced in a long time, A nightmare.” The princesses' eye's widened and Luna lifted her hoof in shock. The turned giving each other a horrified stare. “How can this be? We rid Equestria of the last nightmare a long time ago.” spoke Celestia. “I don't know your highness, but my eye's did not deny me, her power was real and she took control of my best friend.” said Compass Rose. Celestia's expression softened to a look of sorrow. “I fear that this force is on it's way here and this entire city will be in danger, If not they may already be here!” she added. “We understand Compass Rose, I do fear that these two may be after Luna, the nightmare ponies refereed to her as their queen while she was one of them. Guards prepare to make a barrier around the city!” she calls out to the royal guards and they scurry outside to prepare a barrier. “Sister, It's time to lower the sun and for me to lift the moon.” commented Luna. “Your right Luna, Compass you are welcome to join us.” replied Celestia. The two sisters begin a trot to the outside, both with a look of concern on their face. Compass paused a moment to think everything that happened through a moment before trotting after the two sisters. They arrived at a different area of the terrace, Celestia took her place on the platform where the sun raising and sun setting took place, This time it was different, no ponies gave audience besides Compass Rose, the guards had sealed the perimeter of the palace and would let no pony in. Celestia's grew ablaze with light and the sun began to make its final descent below the far away mountain peaks. She nodded and the glow on her horn faded. She stepped down from the platform where Luna trotted up to take her place. Her horn gleamed with a blue aura as the moon began to move up into the night sky. The nightmares had the castle in their sights, “Now for our queen to be reborn.” called out Nightmare Typhoon to Nightmare Blizzard. The slowed as they began to descend upon the castle. Typhoon violently fluttered her wings and formed a massive whirlwind. She pushed this whirlwind towards the palace, many guards were tossed around like rag dolls in the wind's mercy. The alicorn sisters and Compass Rose turned their heads to the sound of the whirlwind striking the palace. “What do we do now!?” called out Compass Rose in fear. “I suggest you and Luna leave this place.” said Celestia trotting up to her. “What? Why have that?” asked Compass Rose. “I can buy the two of you enough time to escape them and get away from this place. They are here for Luna and seeing her hurt or being captured is the last thing I need to happen.” answered Celestia. “Oh sister..” said Luna calmly with a sorrow struck look on her face. “It will be alright Luna.” She said with a attempt at a reassuring smile. “I suggest you flee to Ponyville, It isn't far from here, That is where you will find my student Twilight, she and her friends wield the Elements of Harmony, we will need their help.” added Celestia. “One more thing Compass, Take this with you...” Celestia takes an amulet out of a nearby case, “This Amulet will protect you from their magic.” Celestia finished. “Thank you your highness..” she said accepting the amulet and bowing her head. A small tear tinkled down her cheek. Luna and Celestia embrace each other in a tight hug. “Goodbye sister.” whispered Luna in Celestia's ear, “It won't be a long goodbye, I promise.” Celestia whispered back. They release each other. Luna and Compass flapped their wings and took off into the pitch black night. Celestia sighed in sorrow. The two nightmares appeared overhead the sun raising platform. They made their final descent. And landed right on the platform. “Well, well, well if it isn't dear Princess Celestia!” called out Blizzard with a dark grin. Typhoon was angered “Curses! I see you have already sent your dear little sister away from this place, well at least its not entirely without profit.” her face softened to a smile. The guards began to regroup and swarmed around the two nightmares. Typhoon scoffs, “Ha! So back for more eh?” Her eyes glowed bright and a blast of energy fountain from her eyes, the guards went flying and Celestia was knocked over. Typhoon to advantage of Celestia's temporary immobility and pounced on top of her, “This Palace is ours from now on!” The two began to engage in a brawl of kicking and biting and magic. Celestia then sent a blinding light at Typhoon in an opportunity to escape, Typhoon flailed her hooves and screamed out, Celestia began to pull herself away from Typhoon, but her efforts were thwarted when Typhoon then jabbed her hooves down on Celestia's chest. She gasped in pain and looked up at her opponent. Typhoon yelled out, “If we can't have Luna, THEN WE SHALL HAVE YOU!!” her eyes glowed violently with nightmare energy. Celestia took her finally option and she sent another blinding light and bucked Typhoon off her. She flapped her wings and flew upwards fast. Blizzard tried to catch up with her but on her attempt she slammed against what seemed to be a solid surface, but she then noticed it was a force field. A guard that managed to not get blown off the palace lied motionless, but his eyes were open and his horn glowed brightly. Typhoon's fury engulfed her, she trotted slowly up to the injured stallion. “For... the... princess..” he spoke to her. Typhoon sent a fiery wave of energy at the guard. Luna had cried most of the journey to Ponyville, she feared her sister would die, but she kept going on and refused to turn back. Compass just stared sorrowfully at the path ahead. Ponyville came into view and the landed upon one of the bridges that crosses the stream the travels through town. Luna lowered her head and sighed. “What now?” asked Compass Rose. “We wait till morning, If there is a morning to be had..” she answered softly lowering her head. “Princess Luna? I didn't now you were going to visit Ponyville.” said a voice from behind them. They simultaneously turned there heads and a chestnut colored stallion stood before them. Luna put a slight smile on her face “Hello again, Doctor.”
