Luna's transformation is a mystery... Is this what really happened? Or not? That, fillies and gentlecolts, is for you to decide.

The cause of Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon is a mystery. Many ponies have their own theories of what happened, each different in their own way, but making sense at the same time. This story, fillies and gentlecolts, is what I think happened, is it true?..... Well, that's for you to decide for yourself.

This is my first story on here, I hope it doesn't turn out too bad and you guys enjoy it. Please, if there's anything you see that doesn't make sense, feel free to comment about it. I don't want to leave you confused with stuff or anything... And could you give me feedback on how it's going?... If you don't mind...

The Nightmare

Panic ran through her. She couldn't see anything, not even the blue glow from her horn could pierce the darkness that surrounded her. A menacing laugh sounded all around her, "You cannot stop this Princess of the Night... I will show myself someday... You can't stop me." Blue-green eyes glowed in front of the alicorn, white teeth gleaming in a smile blow them, causing her to take a few startled steps back which took her over an unseen edge. She tried to stretch her feathered wing out, to fly away, but they wouldn't, like they were glued to her side. Sheer terror gripped her, she felt tears brimming, readying themselves to fall, and a scream swiftly building in her throat, escaping from her mouth like water through a broken dam as she fell.

"Luna? Are you alright?" The voice brought the blue alicorn back to reality, 'It was just a dream... A nightmare, nothing more nothing less' she thought to herself. Blinking her light blue eyes, she looked up from the dish in front of her to the only other pony in the room. A flowing mane of pink, green, blue, and purple stood out, along with the pony's white coat, against the red velvet backing of the chair she sat in. The gold painted wood that held the chair together gleamed a little from the morning light coming in through the large windows.

"Yes Sister, I am alright." The lie came easily, before she could even think about it. It had been several weeks since the dream had occurred and it still haunted her, though she had no desire to tell her sister. She had the bulk of the duties for the kingdom and Luna had no wishes of causing more worry than necessary.

"Eat something Sister, I wish to show you the Crystal Kingdom today," Celestia rose from her seat, "There is a new ruler there, and I wish to meet this pony. I hope you will as well, as you are also a ruler yourself. But you have to eat something before we leave, I do not wish for you to be hungry on the long trip." As she was speaking, she was walking towards the elegantly carved doors at the end of the hall. A yellow glow appeared around the handle, pulling the door open, revealing a couple of Celestia's guards waiting behind them, a grey unicorn with saddle bags just about bursting with scrolls waiting with them, who immediately pulled several scrolls out within his grey magic.

Luna stared at the doors as the slowly closed on Celestia taking several of the scrolls in her own magic, smiling at the unicorn. Turning her gaze to the dish she had been staring into earlier, a small satisfaction growing within her when she finally registered what was on it. There was toast, the butter on it perfectly melted and absorbed, perfect amount of sugar on it. Oatmeal sat in a little bowl, Luna saw strawberries and blueberries in it, her favorite fruits, a small smile grew on her face, next to the oatmeal was a tall glass containing some kind of juice.

"I do not think your attempt at niceties will help me Sister..." The blue of her magic glowed around her horn and the toast, "But I will go to this... Crystal Kingdom." Sighing deeply, she brought the toast to her mouth, taking a bite of the toast, instantly her mouth burst with more flavors than bread, butter, and sugar. Making a mental note to compliment the new cook herself, she continued eating.

Meanwhile, in the cold realm many thousands of miles away, all of Crystal Kingdom was buzzing with preparations for the arrival of the Princesses, the only ponies not contributing to the joyful, and slightly nervous, activities were those too old or too young.
A dark grey unicorn stood on a balcony, overlooking the ponies dashing through the streets, the sun glittering against their crystalline bodies.
"Sire," A breathless guard skidded to a halt in the doorway of the room, hastily raising his hoof to his forehead in a salute, "We just received word that Princess Celestia is bringing her sister with her."
"What?" The grey stallion's ears perked as he quickly to face the guard, so quickly in fact that he almost fell forward from his hoofs getting caught up in the bit of robe that trailed against the ground 'I need to get that fixed before I fall down stairs or harm my horn', "Princess Luna is coming as well? Go tell the tailor to come to my chambers immediately, I need this robe shortened before I make myself look like a clumsy fool."
"Sire!" With another salute, the guard turned and ran out of the room, the shouts of him telling other guards to look for the tailor and their responses echoed in the hallway. Sighing at the noise, the unicorn's black field of magic surrounded the handles of both open doors that lead into his chambers, and closed them, along with his eyes at the silence. He couldn't even hear the commotion of the ponies thousands of feet below him, and he liked it that way. His thoughts quickly turned to the Princess of the Night, 'I have been admiring her from afar for so many years... I never thought I'd meet her...' A smile came on his face, as he opened his eyes and looked to the sky, the sun was still in its early path of crossing the sky, he hoped that the sun would stay up until she got her, he'd always wanted to see her raise the moon 'What would she say if I asked her to accompany me in star gazing...' A blush crept up onto his cheeks, hidden by the color of his coat, and as he wondered what her answer would be, how she'd look in the light of the moon, his heart gave a tiny, unnoticeable, flutter.
