She got out of bed and went downstairs, only to see my body sprawled on the sofa with a pillow on my face. Twilight used her magic to draw back the curtains and laughed as I yanked the pillow off my face and rolled off the sofa, sprawling face down on the floor. "Come on Twi" I moaned as I slowly got to my feet. "What's the deal? Its 7:00 am on a Saturday for crying out loud." "Foalie, today is that time where we have to clean the treehouse. Every room, and every spot" she said seriously. "Why don't you have Spike do it? He is your number 1 assistant" I moaned as I picked up my pillow, threw it back on the sofa and lay face down on it. "He had a sleepover with the CMC and won't be back until tonight" she answered. "Who is the idiot that decided to pick Saturday as cleanup day?" I asked. "You" Twilight answered with a smile. I raised my head up and looked at her. "No, you are not using that thing as an excuse" I said. "But its true" she said. "I asked you what days you want to clean the treehouse with me, and you responded by saying Saturday." "I wasn't paying attention at the time" I complained. I looked around the library. "The place is spotless though" I said. Twilight pointed to the pile of books on the stairs, the scattered books in a corner, and the small pile of books and scrolls on the coffee table. "Plus we have to clean the kitchen, the basement, the balcony--" "Ok, ok, I get it" I said getting up. "Plus we have to do laundry" she said. "I cleaned these clothes recently." "I meant mine" she retaliated. "You wear clothes? You're a pony for crying out loud. Who taught you Equestrians the meaning of clothes?" I asked as I gathered the books on the coffee table and the corner. Twilight decided to avoid my question. It was a rhetorical one anyway. While I went to put the books on their appropriate spots on the shelf, Twilight used her magic to take care of the remaining books and the scrolls. After I placed the last book on the shelf, I slid down the ladder and made my way to the kitchen. I walked over to the sink, turned on the faucet, and began washing the dishes. "Hey Twi?" I asked. "Yes?" I heard her respond. "Where are the cleaning cloths?" "Under the sink as always" she said as she entered the kitchen. I bent down and opened the small door to the bottom of the sink. I screamed, fell over on my butt, and kicked the door shut. I began staggering back, still screaming, then began to breathe heavily. "Foal! Foal what's wrong?" She asked as I got to my feet. I continued to breathe until I was ready to talk. "Stay here" I said as I approached the small door again. Maybe my eyes were fooling me. I opened the door again, I cried out and shut the door again, staggering back over to Twilight. "Good God!" I panted. When I bumped into Twilight, I almost jumped out of my skin. "What is it?" twilight asked, worriedly. "I saw a snake" I answered. Twilight let out a frightened gasp and jumped on me. "Agh!" I cried out as she wrapped her hooves around me and begun shaking like she was cold. "Where? Where? Where?!" She asked in a panicked tone. "Foal, where is the snake?! I hate snakes!" "Well you're not the only one!" I yelled in fright. The two of us began to breathe heavily. "Ok, Twilight, give me that bat over there" I said. Twilight used her magic and levitated a baseball bat over to me. "Now use your magic and open that door very slowly, and when that snake comes out, I'm going to beat it like there's no tomorrow." Twilight then used her magic to open the door, but as she did, the snake slithered out. Twilight and I both screamed and ran out of the kitchen. The snake made its way across the kitchen floor and up the stairs. "Foalie!" Twilight screamed as we stood on a sofa. "It's going to my room! The snake is going to my room!" She panicked. "Get the bat! Where's the bat?!" She yelled. "I dropped it" I said in a pathetic tone. "What?! What do you mean your dropped it?!" "Your scream startled me, I dropped the bat..." Twilight didn't buy my excuse. "We gotta get that snake out of here before it causes trouble!" She's causing trouble by screaming. The more she screams, the more the snake will move from one hiding spot to another. The two of us walked up to Twilight's room and began looking around. "Ok, I'll check the corners, you check the beds" I said. Twilight used her magic to slam my back against the wall then she pinned me against it. "No! I'll check the corners, and you check the bed!" She yelled. As she yelled at me about me checking the bed, she jabbed me with her hoof with each word said. "Ok, ok" I said, smiling nervously. I don't know what's scarier. The snake or an angry Twilight. As Twilight checked the corners of her room, I picked up a jump rope from a shelf and approached her from behind. As I quietly neared her, I dropped the jump rope on her back while making a hissing sound. Twilight screamed and shook the jump rope off. She turned around and glared at me while I was laughing hysterically. Twilight's glare disappeared and a smirk replaced it. She used her magic to knock me on the floor with a pillow she has thrown. When I turned my head, I saw that I was facing the side of the bed. Before I could do anything, the snake lunged out from under the bed fangs bared, and hissing loudly. Twilight screamed and huddled against a corner while I screamed and quickly rolled to the side. The snake flicked its tongue out at me and slithered away. While its back was turned, I stuck my tongue out at it. "Come back here!" I shouted as I ran after it. But then I quickly stopped when I saw where the snake slithered. "Foal? Where's the snake now?" She asked, looming from her room. I glanced up at her and sighed. "The basement." Twilight gasped and widened her eyes as a hoof flew up to her mouth. I walked over to the kitchen and retrieved the bat. I went back to the cellar and opened the door. "Twilight? Where's the light switch?" I asked as I stared at the dark stairway. "At the bottom of the steps" her nervous voice responded. "Oh damn" I said quietly as I descended into the dark room. Twilight joined me in the basement the second I switched on the light. This is where she would experiment. I know this, because I help her whenever Spike is busy running errands for her. I began to walk around the basement as I gripped the bat tightly. "Alright you slithering spawn from hell, where are you?" I asked. As I wandered around, Twilight smirked again and used her magic to tap me on the back. The second I felt the aura, I dropped the bat and ran to a corner. "Good God damn it!" I cried out. Twilight began to laugh in hysterics as she approached me. "Yeah. Yeah. Haha, very funny Twi" I said as I picked up the bat. As soon as she stopped laughing, a hiss was heard. Twilight and I turned around and spotted the snake. She gasped and hid behind me, grasping my shoulders with her hooves. "Foal! Foal get it, it's right there!" "Twilight! You're pushing me towards the snake!" I panicked. The snake began to slither but stopped after moving five feet away from us. "Foal? A scream is building and I need to let it out." My eyes widened and I quickly turned to her. "Twilight, please don't" I said nervously. "I'm sorry, Foalie but I have to scream, right now" Twilight said, as her breathing became rapid. "No, no, please don't scream, you'll startle the snake and he'll hide in a place somewhere in this basement that we won't be able to reach." "Foalie? My scream is getting stronger, I need to let out my scream!" She becoming more panicked. "Ok, fine scream, but if the snake gets startled and bites me, then you're the one to blame." "I don't want you to get bitten though..." Her scream is definitely building. "Well do something to prevent your..." I stared as my right hand was engulfed in magic aura. I then watched it levitate and clamp itself over Twilight's mouth. She then screamed behind my hand. I rolled my eyes as my left hand let go of the bat. After hearing the muffled scream for a total of 15 seconds, Twilight stopped and stared at me. I then heard a small laugh of embarrassment behind my hand. She then released my hand from her magic grip. I picked up the bat and charged at the snake. The snake glanced up, bared his fangs, and lunged at me. "Foalie, wait!" Twilight cried out. I screamed in pain. Twilight's eyes began to water. I was bitten. "Twilight, I think I'm dying" I said as I showed her two small bite marks on my hand. Twilight placed her hooves over her mouth as tears fell from her eyes. "Tell Ponyville... That its only human resident... Died. By trying to get rid of a snake in your basement... Bravely." I closed my eyes and heaved my last breath. Just then, a soft voice called out. "Twilight?" Fluttershy asked as she flew down the basement stairs. "Twilight what's..." Twilight rushed over to Flutterhshy and shook her. "A snake was in my library and he bit Foalie! And..." Fluttershy turned to the snake and glared at it. And by glare, I mean 'The Stare' "You ought to be ashamed of yourself!" Even though she shouted, her voice was still soft. "Fluttershy, he killed Foalie, look at him!" She pointed to my sprawled body. "Aww, he's not dead. Jake's bite may hurt, but it's not poisonous." "WHAT?!?!" I asked as I quickly sat up. "You mean that this snake is yours?!" "Yes. He has a habit of leaving the cottage and going to Twilight's basement." "My basement?!" Twilight asked, panicked. "Oh yes, every 7:00 in the morning he escapes from my cottage and goes to your basement." When I have to get him, I have to be very quiet so I won't wake you and Foalie." "That's it" I said as I got up. I grabbed a cloth, and walked over to a faucet and began running it under the water. "Fluttershy, keep that thing in a cage." "But Foalie... You never told me you were afraid of snakes" Fluttershy said. "Well you know now" Twilight said. "No I mean there was a time when he and I helped a wounded snake." Twilight approached me with an angered look on her face. "You told me that you were afraid of snakes! You lied to me!" "In my defense, I didn't want you to be the only one afraid." "So you faked that whole 'scared of snakes' thing so I would feel better?" "Pretty much." "Well why didn't you just tell her that you weren't scared of it to begin with?" Fluttershy asked. "In my defense again, me being scared of snakes were the first words to leave my mouth. I wasn't thinking things thoroughly." "So what are you scared of?" Twilight asked me. I laughed nervously. Does she really want to know? Because I'm not sure if I want to tell her.
