> End of the Road > by Mydnyt Rayn > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Rise and Shine, Sleepy Head > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Be careful, Rainbow! It looks like a storm is starting up!" Twilight said. Rainbow rolled her eyes and giggled. "No worries, Twi! This weather pony can't be stopped by anything!" Rainbow said, confidently. She took off and within minutes, she was out of Twilight Sparkles sight. Rainbow Dash glided in the air. She had no worries, either. Home was only another ten minutes away. The storm fell above her within seconds. Thunder roared in all directions. Lightning struck everywhere. Rain poured down like a shower. Rainbow didn't notice what happened next. A stong wind waved over her and the unthinkable happened to her. It was so... scary. CRACK! End of the Road By Mydnyt Rayn She moved. Rainbow Dash groaned as she slept, grumbling something about clouds not being soft anymore. She turned to her side and continued her sleep. Her sides were aching at that point, let alone her wings. After a few more minutes of tossing and turning, Rainbow stood up and rubbed her aching back. She looked around and she stared at nature with surprise. "Where the buck am I?!" She said, not one bit calmly. She trotted in place, worrying. It was still nighttime, so it worried her more. She continued rubbing her back and when she rubbed near her wings, a sharp pain filled her body. A pain all to familiar to her. Rainbow flitted her right wing and then her left. The same pain in both wings, meaning one thing. "No... No!" She flapped as hard as she could ignoring the pain. "No, no, no no no, NO!" She screamed. Both her wings were severely damage, possibly broken. Rainbow stopped trying, tears forming in her eyes. She lied down, closed her eyes, and began to cry. Rainbow sniffled as she opened her eyes. Her wings were damaged and she had no way home. For one, she didn't know where she was. It seemed to be a forest, no less. She knew it wasn't the Everfree Forest. No, this was a lush, bright green forest full of life. Rainbow then brought her attention back to her wings. She had to get them wrapped up. If she didn't get them set and relaxed, she may never be able to fly again. As she wandered through the forest, she got the feeling of being watched. It being a forest, Rainbow came to the conclusion that an animal was curious of her. So she kept walking on, ignoring the feeling. After a couple of hours trying to ignore the feeling, Rainbow stopped and looked around nervously. The feeling of beeing watched was becoming unbearable. She looked around before talking. "Wh- who's there?" Rainbow asked. Nothing. She asked a couple more times and with no answer. Then, Rainbow could have sworn she saw a shadow moving through the trees. She thought she was seeing things so she continued her walking. She needed to wrap her wings up and fast. She continued to wander around. The trees stood taller then the Ponyville Town Hall and the grass was the height of a colt or filly. After half an hour or so, Rainbow found some vines to get her wings wrapped and set, so the easy part of her day was finished. Now the hard part was to get home. But she wasn't too worried about taking to long, for she had gotten quit used to the forest around her. "Let's see, can I- that's weird. I can't remember what Twilight told me to do when this sort of thing happens. I can't even remember what two plus two is. Wait, why would I be worried about math? I hate math." Rainbow sighed. "This is gonna take longer than expected." ~~~ As nighttime came upon the forest, Rainbow looked up and sighed. If she could remember how to make a fire, that would help her with almost everything else. "Okay. So I remember Twilight talking about rocks, sticks and dry grass, but I need to remember what to do with them." She put the rocks in a circle and then the sticks and grass in the center. "That should be right." She sat and waited. Nothing. She looked at the fire pit, confused. “Where’s the fire?” Rainbow asked. She waited some more. This was getting stupid. Then after trowing a rock, she saw that striking to created spark. "Oohh, that's how you do it." After striking two rocks together a couple of times, an ember found itself in the circle. Rainbow smiled, but that smile quickly faded when, again, the fire did nothing. No flames. Rainbow sighed, her breath moving over the circle, making the ember glow brighter. Rainbow blew a little on the ember and sure enough, flames took over the sticks. "Success!" Rainbow said. She rested herself near the fire, resting her head into her hooves. After yawning, Rainbow fell into a deep sleep. The very next morning Rainbow- was still sleeping. Ahem. Rainbow opened her eyes and yawned. Thank you. Rainbow stood up from her spot on the ground and stretched. She whinced a little bit when she stretched her wings, but they didn't hurt as much anymore. Rainbow walked around, trying to find food. If anything, she figured out that the red berries wern't the ones you eat. As she continued walking something caught her attention. It was the smell af wood smoke. The smell was tugging at her nostrils. It was almost... inviting. After a breif think through, Rainbow started walking towards the smell. The trees started getting thicker the deeper she went. As she walked on, the smell got stronger. It was almost to overwhelming. Then, at the edge of the trees, she came to a small clearing. There, in its center, with smoke coming from its chimmny, stood a small hut. > The Witch > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow. Rainbow, Rainbow! Rainbow Dash! Rainbow? Rainbow's eyes opened. She she was laying on her wings, and she was in an uncomfortable position. She was on a bed in a dark room, candles dimly glowing around her. Quickly, Dash sat up and looked around. She could barley make out a sillouette of a pony in the next room over, oblivious to the pegasus who had awaken. Dash quietly got off the bed and slowly made her way towards an open window. "Up already?" A voice asked. Rainbow turned around, meeting the eyes of another mare. She was a bit shorter than Rainbow, her mane and tail were red and purple, both designed in a knife-like way. The mare's eyes were an electric blue with a faint red hidden in them and her flank showed a magic looking source. "Uh... looking for the bathroom? Dash tried. The mare wore a confused look. "Outside window?" The mare asked. Dash sighed and looked down. "I was trying to leave." The mare giggled and pointed towards the other room. "Door over there, I not stop you from leaving." She said. "How did I get here, if you don't mind me asking?" Dash asked. It was strange beeing out in the woods and then waking up in a house. The mare looked at Rainbow for a breif second, then spoke. "I was in home, working on project, then I see cyan object fall outside at tree line. You lay there, cyan pegasus, and I take you in." Dash looked at the strange mare. She remembered seeing the small house, but that was the last thing she had in her memory. "I see. I didn't expect to find a pony out here." "I understand, but I am happy, for I rarely get visitor." The mare said. Dash then looked at the other room. A large cauldron steamed in the center and multiple bottles and vials of all colors scatered around the room. The mare looked at the room, then at Rainbow. As Rainbow continued to look, the mare spoke up. "As you may see, I have hobby. I call myself potion maker, but all common speaking pony folk would call me witch. I still say potion maker or 'Spellcaster', but I see you have different thoughts." The mare said. "My name Jinx. You?" Rainbow debated whether or not to tell her, so she looked at the mare and said, "I'm Rainbow Dash, but you can call me Rainbow." Jinx smiled brightly. "Been forever since I see another pony, so happy to meet you." She said. Rainbow couldn't help but smile. She had meet another pony in a place she would need to work hard to be in. It was nice to see this pony cared about her, that she took her in. "But again, I not stop you from leaving." Jinx said, almost in a sad tone. Rainbow hasitated at first. She was ready to leave, but the mare seemed lonely out here. She was the Element of Loyalty and since they became friends, she wasn't going to abandon her. The mare smiled. "Ok, I leave you to get settled." Jinx said. Rainbow replied with a smile and left Jinx with her project. It was a nice home and it even had a fairly large living area with a place for a fire in the center. Rainbow looked around the potion room and it seemed that Jinx was good at what she did. There were talent enhancers and water walking potions. On an unfinished shelf, Rainbow saw some of the things Jinx was trying to work on. Invisibilaty, one that could turn you into a different race, and one Rainbow was suprised with: a Love Potion. Jinx saw what Rainbow was looking at and laughed. "Nopony ever bottle love before, so I once tried. Had to bathe in mud to stop crush on tree." She said with a smile. Later on, both Jinx an Rainbow shared a yawn and decided to call it a night. "Goodnight, Rainbow." Jinx said, then walking into her room afterwards. "Goodnight Jinx." Rainbow said, yawning again. Rainbow always knew she would get a roommate at Cloudsdale University, but it was very nice to have one now. Rainbow climee into her bed and rested her wings into a comfortable position. She closed her eyes, smileing, and drifted off to sleep.
