> My Little Dragon > by yodajax10 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Does Forgiveness really heal? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike was sitting in Twilight's bedroom, thinking what happened in the last few days. The Great and Powerful Trixie returned to Ponyville, with a powerful amulet. She cheated in a magic duel to banish Twilight Sparkle from Ponyville, separating Spike from his very best friend. Twilight eventually returned and defeated Trixie, but then Trixie actually asked for forgiveness. When Twilight forgave Trixie, Spike was now put into a state of absolute fear. There was no way in Equestria he was going to trust Trixie for what she did this time, and why should he? "Oh, Twilight," said Spike to himself. "Why would you forgive Trixie? Could you not see that she's absolutely rotten to the core?" "Obviously she doesn't." said a familiar female voice. Spike instantly flipped around when he heard that voice. "Who said that?" Spike demanded. "Oh, who do you think?" The female voice chuckled. Spike's eyes widened when he heard that. "Trixie!" Spike said. "Wherever you are, what are you doing here?!" "It's simple, my dear dragon." said Trixie's voice. "To put an end to Twilight Sparkle for humilating The Great and Powerful Trixie!" "Why are you doing this?" said Spike, not knowing which direction to back away. "Twilight apparently saved your life from that Ursa Minor! You should be grateful!" "Do you really think I care?" said Trixie's voice. "She has runied Trixie's life, and she must pay!" "Spike!" said Twilight, running into her bedroom. "What's going on?" "Ah!" said Trixie. "Here's Trixie's chance!" A maniacal laugh was heard as everything turned to darkness. Twilight started to fade away. "SPIKE!" Twilight screamed. "WHAT'S HAPPENING?!" "TWILIGHT!" Spike screamed, trying to save Twilight. "NOOOOO!" Spike gasped for a second, he then saw he was just in bed. He peeked over and saw Twilight was in her bed, smiling while sleeping peacefully. It was all just another nightmare. Spike sighed as he then went back to sleep. The next morning, Twilight was getting ready for a morning stroll through Ponyville. Before she was about to head out the door, she called. "Spike, I'm going through a stroll in Ponyville." "Yeah, yeah." Spike grumbled, organizing the books. "I heard you." Twilight looked concerned about Spike. He never acted this way before. "Spike?" asked Twilight. "Is something wrong?" "I'm fine, Twilight." said Spike. "Just go for your stroll." Twilight was about to say something, but then stopped. He was probably just a little cranky, getting up from bed. Twilight then walked out the door. She walked along towards Sweet Apple Acres where she spotted her good friend Applejack, getting apples down from her tree. Applejack just finished working on one tree when she spotted Twilight. "Well, howdy Twilight!" said Applejack. "Hey, Applejack." said Twilight. Applejack looked at Twilight with happiness, but then noticed something was wrong. "Twilight?" said Applejack. "Sugar, what's wrong?" "Nothing," said Twilight, trying to hide her depressed feeling. "It's nothing." "You can tell me, Twi." said Applejack, putting her hoof around Twilight. Twilight sighed. "Something's up with Spike." said Twilight. "He's been acting really strange and gloomy." "Aww, little fella's probably just getting over what that Trixie caused a few days ago." Applejack said. She then started to kick another tree hard, frustratingly remembering what Trixie did. "That Trixie, Ah mean that Trixie." Applejack said. "Who does she think she is? Trying to banish ya for something ya never did to her! Ah for one don't see how anypony could forgive her of what she did! Don't you, Twi?" Twilight gulped. She remembered she never told any of the girls she forgave Trixie. "Uh, yeah.": said Twilight. "Who could forgive her?" "What Ah'm trying to say is just give Spike time." said Applejack. "He'll get over it." Twilight sighed. "I hope you're right." said Twilight. She then walked away. Twilight walked back inside her house that late afternoon and saw Spike, walking around. "Hey, Spike!" said Twilight. "I need you to get me that first book on the top shelf." "Sure thing," said Spike, sighing. As Spike climbed up to get the book, Twilight spoke up. "Spike?" said Twilight. "Are you still worried about what Trixie did?" "I don't wanna talk about it." Spike grumbled. "Spike," said Twilight. "You've got to let this go." "Yeah, well maybe you can forget about it, but I can't." said Spike. "Look, Spike," said Twilight. "The past is the past, I forgave Trixie. We need to move on." "Move on?!" said Spike climbing down to face Twilight. "Do you really think Trixie is going to change just like that?!" He said, irritated. "Well, guess what, Twilight! She isn't! She's cruel, selfish and a complete bragger! How do you think she can just change just like that?!" "Spike, that's enough!" said Twilight. "You're acting like a child!" "I AM a child, Twilight!" said Spike. "And you can't just ignore me like this!" "Ugh!" said Twilight. "Can't you just once think of someone other then yourself?!" Spike just stood there, speechless. And then he was filled with absolute rage. "Excuse me?!" said Spike. "I serve you everyday! I do everything you tell me to! I do everything to please you! And you call me selfish?!" Twilight then foolishly realized Spike was right. "Spike, I-I didn't-" She started to say. "You treat me like garbage! I'm your assistant! Not your slave!" Spike shouted in rage. "Spike, I-" said Twilight. "Well, if you really see me as a slave, and calling me selfish, after all I've done for you," said Spike. "I guess I can't change that." Spike looked at the book. "Here," said Spike. "This is the book you wanted." Spike tossed the book to Twilight's feet and stomped upstairs. Twilight looked at the book sadly and then flinched when Spike slammed the door to Twilight's door. Twilight growled in frustration. "Why does Spike have to be so difficult?!" "Why does Twilight have to be so difficult?!" Spike said in anger, while in Twilight's bedroom. He then sighed. "Maybe I was too harsh on Twilight." He said. "I know she loves me." Spike then started to lie down in his bed and rest. Spike woke up in a place filled filled with darkness. "Wha-where am I?" said Spike. Something then flashed before his eyes. He was in Twilight's library and he saw Twilight angrily talking to Spike. "Spike. What is this?" Twilight said, angrily. "You said this book was missing. Well, Owlowiscious found it right where it belongs, but like this. How did it get this way?" Spike saw his past self being worried. "Uh... Well, um... You see, I... I just didn't wanna disappoint you and, uh... Have you ever seen a dragon sneeze?" Spike asked nervously. "I've seen a dragon lie." said Twilight. "I'm very disappointed in you, Spike." Spike saw Twilight walk away from the past Spike and walked to the window. "Why did I ever keep that stupid dragon as an assistant?" Twilight said to herself. Spike's heart sank when he heard Twilight say those words. "S-s-stupid dragon?" said Spike, as his eyes filled with tears. Something else flashed before his eyes as he saw another flashback. This time being when Apple Bloom got Cutie Pox and Twilight was looking at what Cutie Pox was. "Cutie pox. This puzzling pony plague afflicted a population of ponies back in the paleopony period!" Twilight read. "Say that ten times fast!" said Spike. Twilight then bumped Spike off her back in annoyance. Spike saw what happened and looked at Twilight. "Stupid dragon." said Twilight in annoyance. Spike then felt his heart break. Then he kept getting multiple flashbacks of Twilight saying something awful about Spike behind his back, like when Spike couldn't go with the girls to the Gala, or after Spike caused a rampage in Ponyville after his birthday, when Spike couldn't go with her to get tea from Zecora, every flashback, and each one got worse and worse. But then, Spike saw himself on a block of ice, in the middle of the water! Spike then accidentally fell in the water and came up gasping for air. "HELP!" Spike screamed. "HELP!!" He then heard some laughing. Spike looked over and saw Twilight and her friends laughing at Spike. "I can't believe that stupid dragon fell for that prank!" Twilight laughed. "TWILIGHT!" Spike screamed. "HEEEELLLP MEEEE!" Spike then woke up in his bead. Spike looked around and saw it was now nighttime, and just another nightmare. Spike then began to cry quietly. "If that's all that Twilight sees me for," said Spike. "Maybe she wouldn't even care if I just left." Spike got out of bed and started to pack. "That's right." said Spike. "Just pack my things and just go away for good." Spike also began to put pillows under his little blanket so Twilight wouldn't notice where he is. Spike now had everything in his sack on a stick. He then heard Twilight coming up the stairs. He hid so Twilight wouldn't see him. He saw Twilight get in her bed and saw quietly to the pillow under Spike's bed, not knowing Spike wasn't there. "Goodnight, little assistant of mine." Twilight said, before falling asleep. "Yeah," Spike whispered. "That's all I'll ever be to you." Spike then quietly left the library. "Just an assistant." > New Troubles and New Friends > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun peeked through Twilight's room. Twilight woke up, smiling. She yawned, stretched and looked over to Spike's bed. "Hey, Spike." said Twilight. "It's a beautiful morning." Twilight pulled the blankets off and saw Spike was gone. "Huh?" said Twilight. "Hmm, maybe he's already downstairs." Twilight walked downstairs. "Spike?" Twilight called. "You down here?" Twilight got no response, and Spike was nowhere in the library. "Spike?" Twilight called again. Still nothing. Twilight started to get worried. "Spike?" Twilight called, starting to look around the house.. "Spike, this isn't funny! Where are you?!" She then noticed a picture of Twilight and Spike when he was on the ground, shattered. Twilight gasped at this. Still no sign of Spike, Twilight ran through Ponyville calling Spike's name. "Spike?! Spike?! Where are you?!" Twilight yelled. "Whoa, sugar!" said Applejack, running up to Twilight. "What's going on?" "I can't find Spike!" Twilight, said frantically shaking Applejack. "He's gone!" "What do you mean he's gone?" said Applejack. "He was nowhere in the house and I can't find him right now!" said Twilight. "Don't worry, Twilight." said Applejack. "We'll find him. We gotta get our friends and start searching!" Twilight, along with Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie were now searching all over Ponyville. "Spike! Spike!" Rainbow Dash called, loudly. "Spike? Spike? Please come out." said Fluttershy, quietly. "Spike? Where art thou, Spike?" Pinkie Pie called from a trash can in a sing-song tone. "Spike?" Rarity called. "Please, my little Spikey-Wikey, come out where ever you are." "Ah don't understand," said Applejack. "Why would Spike just disappear?" "Maybe that meanie pants, Trixie had something to do with it?" said Pinkie Pie. "I wouldn't be so sure," said Rainbow Dash. "After what that big jerk did in Ponyville, I wouldn't be surprised if she never showed her face here again!" "Unless somepony forgave her." said Fluttershy. "Ha!" said Rainbow Dash. "Who would possibly think of forgiving her?" Twilight then sighed. "Girls," said Twilight. "There's something I need to say. I...I forgave Trixie." "You WHAT?" said Applejack. "How could you forgive that...that-that MONSTER?!" said Rarity. "I was trying to make peace!" said Twilight. "And I was just trying to tell Spike that last night!" Twilight then covered her mouth with her hoof, realizing what she said. "You forgave Trixie after what she did to all of us?" said Rainbow Dash. "Even after what she did to Spikey-Wikey?" said Rarity. "Stop!" said Twilight. "You girls sometimes treat Spike in that same way sometimes!" "Well, we learned our lesson about how we sometimes treat Spike!" said Applejack. "Oh, really?" said Twilight, getting angry. "When was that? Right now?" "The night Trixie banished you!" said Applejack. Twilight was about to say something but stopped when she heard what Applejack said. "What happened that night?" said Twilight. Applejack put her hoof on Twilight's shoulder. "Sugar," said Applejack. "There's something ya need to know." Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rarity had just got away from Trixie and her craziness, as they went into the library. They were going to look for something to see if it connected with what Trixie was doing until they heard something. They heard it coming from upstairs. "Mmmm'm mmmm?" said Pinkie Pie, who's mouth was previously taken by Trixie. "Beats me, Pinkie." said Rainbow Dash. They walked up and saw Spike on Twilight’s bed. They noticed Spike weeping as he was holding a picture of him and Twilight. Applejack walked over onto the bed and put her hoof on Spike’s shoulder. “Hey, sugarcube.” Applejack said. “It’s all gonna be okay.” Spike looked up at Applejack, his eyes filled with tears. “It’s all my fault, Applejack.” He whimpered. “What ever are you talking about?” said Rarity. “You didn’t have anything to do with that awful Trixie.” “No, it’s not that.” said Spike. “It’s just that, Twilight has always been there for me, she hatched me as an egg. She’s all the family I had.” The ponies looked shocked. “And I’ve-I’ve never even got a chance to tell Twilight how I felt...and now, I’m not sure I ever will!” Spike started to cry again, but Rarity climbed up on the bed and hugged Spike in order to comfort him. “Shhhh,” She said. “It’s going to be okay. I promise.” Spike continued crying as he buried his face in Rarity’s chest, which made Rarity hold him tighter. Applejack put her hoof on Spike's shoulder as Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie looked at him sadly. Rainbow Dash looked mad at what Trixie did to Spike, but then tears flowed from her eyes as she went in the corner, not wanting the other ponies to see her cry. "So, Spike was pretty much traumatized by what Trixie did to him, separating him from the closest thing he has to a family, and you forgave Trixie for that?" said Applejack. "You think maybe Spike ran away?" said Fluttershy. Twilight's eyes widened over what she heard. "Sweet Celestia," Twilight said. "What have I done?" "What do you mean what have you done?" said Pinkie Pie. "You drove Spike away!" "Poor thing." said Fluttershy. "I hope he's okay." "Spike..." said Twilight, as tears streamed from her eyes. Spike was now walking far through the Everfree Forest, still carrying his saddle-stick. "I thought Twilight really cared for me." "But I guess I was wrong." Spike started to get tired as he started to rest. He found himself resting against something really fluffy and comfortable. He then heard some snarling. Spike's eyes widened as he looked up and saw that he was sleeping on a manticore! "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!!!!!" The manticore roared. Spike screamed in fear as he then started to run away. But the manticore was hot on his trail as he pounced on him. Spike closed his eyes, ready to die. "HEY!" said a young voice. The manticore looked up. "Leave him alone!" said a figure which was revealed to be a small red unicorn colt with brown hair. The manticore growled as he ran towards the colt. The colt started to throw rocks at him. After being thrown at by many rocks, the manticore flew away. The colt then ran towards Spike who was getting up. "You okay, buddy?" asked the colt. "I guess so." said Spike. "That's a relief." said the colt. The colt started to walk away, but noticed Spike was still standing there. "Hey," said the colt. "Aren't you coming?" "Well, I uh-" said Spike. "You got somewhere else to be?" said the colt. Spike looked down. "No," Spike said. "Not exactly." "Well, then stick with me, buddy." said the colt, smiling. "You mean it?" said Spike. "Sure!" said the colt. "Name's Alan, but you can call me Al. What's yours?" "Spike!" said Spike shaking claws/hooves with Al. Spike and Alan then continued walking through the forest. "So, what are you doing out here?" asked Spike. "I lost my guitar out here." said Al, pulling out his guitar. "I was heading back to the guys, but I saw you were in trouble." "Who are the guys?" said Spike. "Oh, they're my friends." said Al, as they something ahead of the forest. They saw a train about to leave. "I live with my friends in that cart." said Al. "We're travelers." "Wow," said Spike. "Yep," said Alan. "We live in that cart over there. That nice...calm...quiet..." They both jumped when they heard a trumpet playing from the cart. Al chuckled. "Did I say quiet?" Al said. "Come on, Spike. You'll love these guys." The two climbed aboard the cart and saw four other colts in the cart playing music. "Hey guys!" said Al. "Look who's back in town!" "Al, my pony!" said a blue earth pony colt with long green spiky hair and sun-glasses. "Give me some hoof, good buddy!" "Yeah!" said Al, as he and the blue colt fist-bumped with their hooves. "Hey, Spike." said Al. "This is Howard, he's been with me the longest." "Hi, Howard." said Spike. "What's shaking?" said Howard as he and Spike shook hooves/claws. "And this is Stephen." said Al as a yellow earth pony colt with brown hair walked up to him. "The pleasure is all mine, Spike." said Stephen. Then an orange pegasus colt with purple hair swooped in and jumped on Spike. "Hiya!" said the pegasus colt. "I'm Glenn! I'm new around here!" "Name's Spike." said Spike. "And last but certainly not least," said Al. "Tim? Where are ya?" A brown unicorn colt with red fuzzy hair popped out of a box, and hopped down to Spike. "Spike, this is Tim." said Al. Tim enthusiastically shook Spike's claw with both of his hooves. "Excuse Tim," said Al. "Tim doesn't talk." Tim shook his head in a silly way. "So, where are you from, Spike?" said Stephen. Spike was about to say something. But then he sighed. "It's not important," said Spike. "I'm not wanted anyway." "Ah! So, you're an outcast?" said Glenn. "That's great! So are we!" Glenn that got a glare from Al and Stephen. "Sorry," said Glenn. "Well, it's not important how he was left all alone out there," said Howard. "What's important is that he's here with us." Howard walked over to Spike. "Spike," said Howard. "We would be more then happy if you joined our group." Spike's eyes lit up with happiness. "You mean that?" Spike said. "Of course, Spike." said Al. "Everypony's gotta have friends!" Al then said the four colts. "Hey, guys! Are we his friends?" The colts then began to sing as Tim played on the piano. The colts and Spike then cheered and applauded over their work. "So, what do you say, Spike?" "Let's party!" said Spike. "Now you're talking!" said Glenn. "Let's boogie!" The colts and Spike began to do more music as the train continued riding on the tracks. It was now a dark and stormy night in Ponyville, and Twilight and her friends have still found no trace of Spike. Applejack walked over to Twilight's library and it was pitch black in there. Applejack knocked on her door. "Twilight, honey?" said Applejack. "Y'all okay in there?" There was no response. Applejack walked inside and saw in the bleak darkness of the library someone laying on Twilight's couch. "Twi-twilight?" said Applejack. "Spike?!" Twilight said, getting up. Her mane was completely messed up and she looked completely miserable. "No," said Applejack. "It's me, sugarcube." Twilight growled in frustration. "I can't take this anymore!" She yelled as she ran to the window. "Why did we stop looking?! Anything could happen to Spike on a night like this! He could get sick! Struck by lightning! I've just got to find him!" Twilight ran out the door and into the nasty weather. "SPIIIIIIKE!" Twilight called. Flash, Flash, Kra-koom "Please, Spike!" said Twilight. "I'm sorry! Please! Can you hear me?!" Flash, Flash, Kra-koom "SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!" Twilight called. She then fell to the ground, bawling her eyes out. "It's all my fault! I lost him!" She cried. Applejack went over to Twilight and tried her best to comfort her. > Truths Revealed and Reunions > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next late afternoon, on the train Spike and his new friends were on, they opened the door to their cart and looked outside. Glenn yawned a little. "So, guys," said Glenn. "Where are we?" "I'm not sure," said Al. The colts all looked and saw where they were. "Canterlot!" said the colts. "Hey, Spike!" said Al. "Wake up!" Spike woke up. "Huh?" said Spike. "What is it?" "Look where we are!" Spike looked and his eyes widened. They were in Canterlot?! If Princess Celestia found out Spike was out here! She was gonna take him back to Twilight and take him away from the only love and attention he ever truly had. "Come on, guys!" said Howard. "Let's check this place out!" "Wait a minute, guys!" said Spike. "I can't go there!" "Why?" said Al. "I-I just have bad experiences there." said Spike. "Oh, come now." said Stephen. "You can give this place another chance." Spike thought for a second. "Well, as long as no one sees me." He said. "Do you guys have something so no one can recognize me?" "I got the perfect thing, buddy!" said Glenn. The colts were walking around with Spike who was wearing a dark cloak so know one would recognize him. "Are you guys sure this will work?" said Spike. "Of course." said Glenn. "No one would ever know that you're-" "A DRAGON!" Screamed a nearby pony. "Everypony run!" Everypony started running away, as Spike, Al, Howard, Stephen and Tim all glared at Glenn. "He-he, oops." said Glenn. Then, they all felt something loom over them. Spike and the colts' eyes widened. They all turned around and saw an enormous, ferocious, black dragon floating over Canterlot. "Uh, guys?" said Glenn. "D-d-do you think that was the dragon they were afraid of?" "Maybe." said the other colts and Spike. They all screamed as the dragon tried to flame them. They all ran and hid in a nearby dumpster. But the colts noticed Spike wasn't in the dumpster but looking up at the dragon. "Run, friend, run!" Howard called. "Don't worry, guys!" said Spike. "I got this!" The colts all nervously watched Spike going up to the dragon. "Hey!" Spike said to the dragon. The dragon then floated down to Spike. "May I calmly ask why you're attacking Canterlot?" The dragon looked at Spike and began to snarl angrily. Then the dragon grabbed Spike by his neck. The colts all gasped as the dragon started squeezing Spike's neck. "He's going to kill Spike!" said Stephen. Glenn then flew out of the dumpster and started punching the dragon's head. "You leave our friend alone!" Glenn yelled as started punching the dragon's eyes. The dragon, being distracted by Glenn dropped Spike. Glenn flew over to Spike letting Spike climb on his back and fly him away from the monster. "We gotta do something about this dragon, guys!" said Glenn. "We'll go get help, you guys find a way to stop the dragon!" said Howard. The colts all ran to go find help as Glenn then flew in the clouds with Spike on his back. They were also being followed close behind by the huge dragon. "Why is he trying to kill you?" said Glenn. "I don't know, but I'm pretty sure right now, he wants me." said Spike. "Maybe you owe him money?" said Glenn. Spike and Glenn then yelped as they saw the dragon getting closer. Spike and Glenn then flew over and through many clouds until they noticed the dragon disappear. "He's gone!" said Spike. "Where'd he go?" said Glenn. Spike then looked down and saw a shadow starting to emerge from the clouds. "LOOK OUT!" said Spike as he and Glenn flew out of the way from the dragon's gaping jaws. They saw the dragon fly upward but then start to come down towards them. "He's coming back!" said Spike. "What are we gonna do?" said Glenn. They then both eyed a boulder down below, and below the boulder was a river. Spike and Glenn both smirked at each other as they flew down towards it. The dragon saw them and flew in their direction. Spike and Glenn stopped at the boulder and saw the dragon coming. They then flew out of the way causing the dragon to bump headfirst into the boulder and then tumble all the way down towards the river. The dragon fell in the river, followed by the boulder which fell on him, causing him to drown. Spike and Glenn saw what happened. "We did it!" said Glenn. "Spike?" said a female voice. Spike turned around and saw Princess Celestia, besides her were Al, Howard, Stephen and Tim. Spike gulped. Spike along with the five colts were now in Celestia's room. "Are you alright, Spike?" asked Celestia. "I'm fine." said Spike. "But why was that dragon trying to kill me. What did I do to it?" Celestia looked down. "Spike," said Celestia. "There's something I need to tell you. Many years ago, the black dragons, who looked like the one who attacked you, were in war many years with dragons who looked just like you. And then, eventually the black dragons killed all the purple dragons, the only one who survived all the attacks...was you." Spike was wide-eyed when he heard that. Spike then sat down in sadness. "So," said Spike. "I really am alone." Spike looked down as tears streamed from his eyes. The colts looked at Spike at sadness, as Tim sniffed a little. "I'm very sorry, Spike." said Celestia, putting a wing around him. "Put you shouldn't worry, you have Twilight Sparkle." "But Twilight always treats me like a slave." Spike said. "She never treats me like a friend. It's like she never wanted me as a friend to begin with." "Need I remind you that Twilight was the one who wanted to keep you after I made her my student. The guards were unsure about it, but I let her keep you. And do remember when Twilight took care of your when you were an infant?" Spike started to think until heard Tim playing his trumpet out on the balcony in the moonlight. "What's Tim doing?" asked Spike. "He's playing the lullaby his mother used to sing to him," said Al. "Everytime he sees the moonlight, he always plays that song." Spike listened to Tim's music and recognized it. "That sounds like the same lullaby Twilight used to sing to me." said Spike. He listened to the song more. "It IS that same...beautiful song!" Spike said, as tears flowed from his eyes. A young filly Twilight was holding a sleeping baby Spike in her fore-legs, cradling him as she sung. Twilight then kissed Spike's forehead. Spike then looked down. "Twilight is like my family." said Spike. "The only family I ever had." "And when she found out you ran away, she was so worried, she couldn't sleep, she couldn't eat, she stopped reading books. She loves you, Spike. Like a mother loves her son." Spike smiled, realizing it was true. But then he looked at his new friends. "But what about my new friends?" said Spike. "What will happen to them?" "Well, I guess I have room in my castle for one more...or two...or three...four...and even five." said Celestia, smiling at the colts. The colts all smiled wildly at that as they jumped up in the air with joy. "We've got a home guys!" said Al. "We get to stay in the castle! We-" The colts then looked at Spike, sadly. Spike smiled at the colts. "Guys," said Spike. "I-i'm gonna miss ya." "Hey, don't worry, Spike." said Al, trying not to shed tears.. "Your Twilight friend is close with Celestia, we'll see each other more. But no matter what anypony says, you'll always be part of our group." The colts and Spike all shared a tearful hug as Celestia smiled. But nopony noticed that through the window, a hooded figure was watching them. The next morning, Twilight was looking at her pictures of Spike. She looked even more miserable then before. "What am I gonna do with myself?" said Twilight. She looked at one of Spike's pictures. "I blew it," Twilight blubbered. "I really blew it! I took my own best friend for granted! I'd give anything to have Spike back! I'd give anything to get another hug from him. A nice warm hug, that makes me feel absolutely warm inside whenever he's around!" She then felt something hug her. She recognized how that hug felt, her eyes widened as she looked down and saw a certain dragon cuddled next to her. "SPIKE!" Twilight said, happily. "OH, SPIKE!" Twilight gave Spike the biggest hug she could ever give her little dragon. "Thank Celestia you're safe!" "You're welcome." said a female voice. Twilight looked over and saw Celestia peeking through the window. Twilight smiled at Celestia, and then looked back at Spike. "Twilight," said Spike. "I'm really sorry I ran awa-" Spike didn't finish as Twilight put her hoof to his mouth. "No, Spike." said Twilight. "I'm the one who's sorry. I'm more sorry then I've ever been. You're more then my number one assistant, you're my best friend, you're my family. You've always been there for me and I've never appreciated it. But I promise things will change between us. I love you very much, Spike Can you...ever forgive me?" Spike smiled as tears welled up in his eyes. "Of course, Twilight." said Spike as he and Twilight shared another embrace. "Thank you very much!" "You're welcome, Spike." said Twilight. "I'm just so glad you're back now." "Did we just hear Spike's back?!" said the voice of Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie poked her head through the door and grinned wildly. "SPIKEY!" said Pinkie Pie. "You're back!" All of Twilight's friends all rushed over and pulled Spike into a big hug along with Twilight. Even the Cutie Mark Crusaders along with their newest member Babs Seed hugged Spike, happy to see him. Everypony was more then happy to have their little dragon back. > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few nights later, the hooded figure from earlier was walking through Ponyville. It spied Twilight's library and climbed up the trees, it saw Spike sleeping in his bed, but then noticed Spike wasn't comfortable. "No!" Spike cried in his sleep. "Trixie, don't do this! Please, Twilight! Don't leave me!" Spike was still having nightmares about Trixie. The hooded figure then peeked when it saw Twilight enter the room. Twilight ran over to Spike and instantly scooped him up in her fore-legs. "Shhh," Twilight cooed. "It's okay, Spike. It's okay. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere, I promise." Twilight then kissed Spike's forehead. Spike opened his eyes and saw Twilight smiling at him. Spike smiled at Twilight and nuzzled into her fur. Ever since what happened, Twilight kept her word and started treating Spike more as a friend and even like her own son. They then heard a knock at the door. Twilight and Spike walked down the stairs and Twilight opened the door. She saw nopony was there, but then she saw there was a note on her doorstep. She picked it up and looked at it. "It's...for you, Spike." said Twilight. Spike looked at the note and saw what it said. Dear, Spike, I've heard what you've been through, and I just wanted to say, I'm sorry. I had know idea what you've been through, and I feel even more bad of what I did to you. But you're lucky now to be in the hooves of a good mother like Twilight Sparkle. If you're still mad at me and don't want to accept my apology, I understand. I thought I'd want to give it a shot. From, Trixie. P.S. If Twilight's nearby, give her the biggest hug a son could give to his mother." Spike smiled at Twilight. "So, Spike," said Twilight. "What did the note sa-" Twilight didn't finish as Spike ran up and hugged her chest. "I love you, Twilight." said Spike. Happy tears welled up in Twilight's eyes everytime she heard Spike say that. She then shared another embrace with Spike. "I love you too, Spike." said Twilight, as she rubbed Spike's back.
