I trotted around the corner, approaching a tidy little yellow house, a cute little house, some would say. I walked up the front steps, onto the white-painted porch. I levitated my keys out of my saddlebags, and unlocked the door. My parents were sleeping still, and I had gone out to run the errands, even if Mom didn't like me going out alone. She had insisted that a 13 year old mare, even if she were a fairly strong unicorn, slightly above average magic strength, shouldn't go out alone, although it didn't stop me. I put the food in the fridge, and continued into my room. I plopped down on my bed, contemplating my life. From my point of view, it was boring, it was a normal life, with not much drama to spice things up. I thought about fun memories, and just, life in general, as I did when I was bored. I started examining the little details in my room, when I began to hear voices. Curiously, I went down the hallway, to my parents room.
"Do you think it's time we tell her?" Her mother asked.
"No, the Rouges aren't close enough yet, we can wait." Her father responded, the tone of his voice unreadable.
"But honey, if we tell her now, we might be able to prepare, don't you think?" She said, her voice edged with uncertainty.
"No, it can wait." He said, firmly.

I had heard enough, I pushed open the door, not sure what to think about what I had just heard. "What are you talking about? What rouges? What are you preparing for?" I said, angry that my parents were hiding secrets from me.
"We might as well tell you now, I guess." My father said, as he began to slide an ancient looking box out from under the bed. "A long, long time ago, before the reign of Celestia, during the reign of Galaxia and Cosmos, there were a band of ponies with darkness in their hearts. The darkness in their hearts was so strong, it began to take over their entire body, everything. They were taken over by Chaos, chaos in it's purest form. Not Discord, but Chaos itself, the very being of Chaos. Discord may claim to be the god of Chaos, but that was only a story to cover up true Chaos in it's purest form. These ponies were banished to the lands beyond the kingdom of the changelings. And do you know who banished them? We did. Our family did, it's in our family history. Your ancestors were powerful Royal Guards, average royal guards who had barely qualified, but they had something in them, something that sent Chaos and his minions running. and it was true harmony. They had true harmony, they were harmony, in a sense, and it was the most powerful kind of harmony imaginable. Enough to stop the most dangerous threat to Equestria. We are harmony, and it is only us who can stop it. I'm sorry we couldn't tell you sooner. we had just wanted you to live a happy, normal life." Her father said, as he began to stare off into space, and drifted into deep thought.
"WHAT?!?" I said, bewildered and angry. "You hid this from me, why don't you trust me?" I said, tears filling my eyes.
"Lilac, we love you, and we didn't want you to be hurt. Hurt by the knowledge that Equestria is lingering on the edge of doom, and we might not even be able to stop it, we're sorry." My mother said, tearing up too.
"What are we supposed to do?" I said, trying to stop crying and being upset about it, and more concerned.
"I-I Don't know..." My father said, for once unable to find a solution.
"Should we talk to Celestia?" My mother said, looking over at her father.
"Yes, she should know what to do, even if she were just a little filly at the time." He said, staring ahead at the wall.
"When, now?" I said, surprised.
"Yes, now, this is important and must be immediately addressed." My father said, as he stood up. He walked to the door, and pushed it open. He trotted outside, and gestured for them to follow.

An hour and a long train ride later, we had arrived at Canterlot. I gazed around at the magnificent buildings, and the ponies dressed in fancy clothes. Having only been here once as a small filly, this was all very new to me. My emotions were all jumbled up inside. Excitement and nervousness*. Excited I was meeting the Princess, and nervous that I was meeting THE PRINCESS. And for a bad reason no less, which is even worse. A while later, we arrived at the castle, and knocked on the door. Two royal guards opened the door. "Who are you?" They asked, their eyes narrowed.
"The Heart family, descendents of Bright Moon and Sun Eclipse." Her father responded. The two guards eyes widened.
"No, that can't be possible, show us a certificate of birth and an official document claiming you to be related." One guard said, still not entirely trusting them. Her father pulled out a sheet from his saddlebags, and both guards jaws dropped in astonishment. "R-right away, sir." He said, quickly letting them in, one guard bolting into the throne room to inform Celestia.
"Dusk, Obsidian!" Celestia said, Greeting her mother and father warmly.
"Good afternoon, Princess." My father said, bowing to her.
"Oh! No need to bow, it is an honor to have you here, and it truly is." She said, watching them. "I see you brought Lilac, as well. That's a good plan, since what we must do is centered around her. I've been keeping an eye on her. She's a good kid, clever, too." Celestia said**. "Now to get down to business."
