> Chocolate Rain > by Cookies Need Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chocolate Rain > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a one shot with the alternative ending that instead of making Discord a stone statue, the Mane 6 banished him instead. Discord is unhappy and sad because his chaos isn't appreciated. He is then joined by the one pony who liked what he did.                                        •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••      So, here he was again. Hated by all the ponies in Equestria, simply for wanting to have a little fun. Okay, so maybe he had gone a little far. Stealing the Elements of Harmony and taking over Ponyville had strayed a little into the Bad side, but he really wasn't bad. But that didn't matter. Nopony liked Discord, he was used to that. His type of fun just wasn't appreciated in Equestria.      Discord let out another sad sigh, his head hanging. What was his purpose? No pony liked his jokes or his pranks. They didn't appreciate the beauty of chaos. Come to think of it, why did he? Discord went through his life trying to pull funny pranks and reveal to everypony the pure chaos of everything around them. Didn't they get it? Why did no pony understand him? Was chaos really that bad? Should he just stop? Perhaps turn to order and harmony and see if his talents would be better appreciated there.      "Hey! Can you make it rain chocolate again?" a high pitched voice asked excitedly from Discord's side. Discord jumped and looked over at the pink pony. Pinkie Pie, representer of the Element of Laughter. She was bouncing along beside him, smiling happily up at Discord.      "Where did you come from, you strange pony?" Discord asked, despite his urge to snap at her. Curiosity getting the better of him.       "I was following you, 'cause I wanted chocolate rain. Can you make the chocolate rain again?" Pinkie Pie asked her mixed up companion. Discord turned his odd gaze away from her.      "Following me? How could you even catch up?" Discord asked suspiciously. He ignored her request for chocolate rain. Discord wasn't around for cheap party tricks for some silly filly's amusement. He was CHAOS! Didn't he get any respect for that?      "I just bounced after you and then I saw you and then I was beside you, because I wanted some chocolate rain. Can you make the chocolate rain?" Pinkie Pie explained with a little giggle. Discord just shook his head and continued to walk, lopsided feet dragging. He wasn't even sure where they were right now. A very hilly part of Equestria. Or maybe they weren't even in Equestria anymore. Discord had been walking for hours without paying attention to where he was going. Which begged the question, how did this tiny pink pony manage to catch up to him when he had at least a day headstart? It made no sense..... But shouldn't he be appreciating that? That was what chaos was. Senseless. He had loved Pinkie Pie before, laughing at her antics and even creating a few cotton candy clouds for her. Discord had known she'd appreciate that. She was the only one of the ponies, in fact, who had liked his chaos.      Perhaps it was because she was as chaotic as he was. A kindred spirit, of sorts. Except that Pinkie Pie was loved by everypony. No matter who she met they loved her almost instantly. It was the exact opposite for Discord. Nopony ever liked his pranks.      "Why are you here?" Discord asked grumpily. He was still thinking about how nopony understood him. Sure, he was being a bit self involved but he had just been punished for his nature for the second time. That was bound to get any pony a little unhappy. Or any mixed up, chaotic dragon like creature.       "Why do you seem so grumpy-wumpy? Nopony should be grumpy! Do you need a party? Every pony says I throw the bestest parties in all of Ponyville!" Pinkie Pie asked, her voice as cheery as ever despite the dark cloud hanging over Discord. Literally, a dark cloud had appeared over his head and was rumbling threateningly. Every once in a while a tiny spark of lightning would leap from it.      "No, I do not need a party. What I need is for a certain Element of Laughter to leave me alone," Discord snapped. Although he was usually in the mood for such a random pony, she had the worst timing possible. All he wanted right now was to be alone and mope a bit. Maybe come up with a plan to defeat the Elements of Harmony and get rid of Celestia and Luna once and for all. Perhaps banish Celestia to the moon and encase Luna in stone. Give them each a taste of their own medicine. After Celestia was done on the moon, he'd make her a statue too. Or perhaps he'd make her a statue on the moon. A double punishment for the Princess he despised the most.      "You don't need a party? That's the silliest thing I've ever heard anypony say ever! Although I guess you're not really a pony, are you? You're a little bit pony though and that's close enough 'cause my Papa told me I had a little goat in me from my insane great-great-Grandpa Mellow Yellow! So maybe we're related," Pinkie Pie's response had little to do with what Discord had said. And she wasn't leaving. Discord facehooved. Why was this silly little pony insisting on following him and talking about her insane grandpa? Although.... He could vaguely recall a Mellow Yellow who had been on his side before the Princesses had turned him into a granite statue. Perhaps he had known Pinkie Pie's great-great-grandpa.      "We are not related. I came from the purity of Chaos itself!" Discord replied, his voice thundering out over the hilly stretch of land in front of him. Pinkie Pie simply laughed as she continued to bounce alongside him, easily keeping up. She didn't seem to mind that Discord hadn't actually replied to her request. Or acknowledged it at all.      "Is there anything I can do to make you go away?" Discord asked. This little pink pony was constantly cheerful. It was giving him a headache. His own cheeriness had disappeared the moment the verdict came. Banishment..... How cruel. At least he wasn't a statue again.      "I've already said it a million and one times, you silly filly! Can I have some more chocolate rain?" Pinkie Pie explained, grinning widely with excitement. Discord let out a long sigh. It seemed there was no other way that he could get rid of this pest.      "Sure," the avatar of Disharmony said. He waved his hand and a puffy pink cloud appeared above Pinkie. It was, however, lacking chocolate rain. Pinkie Pie stared up at the cloud expectantly, as did Discord. It should've simply started pouring chocolate by now. Was there something wrong with his power? Discord was too busy wondering over it to see the odd look in Pinkie Pie's eyes.      "You said I would get chocolate rain...... Why isn't there any chocolate rain? It's because you hate me, isn't it? Everypony hates me and I don't get any chocolate rain.... And you didn't want my party because you hate my party. Everypony hates my parties. My friends hate my parties and they don't want to be friends anymore....." Pinkie's voice became sadder and sadder as she slumped to the ground. All of a sudden her hair spazzed, then fell to her shoulders. Straight, dull and boring. Normal, instead of the usual poofy, chaotic mess.      "It's okay.... I don't need them.... I have Mister Grass, and Miss Rock and Mr. and Mrs. Dirt! I don't need those ponies, do I?"      "Of course not! You never did!" Mr. Grass agreed.      "You never did, darling, trust me!" Miss Rock said reassuringly.      "We are your true friends, no doubt about it," grumbled Mr. Dirt as Mrs. Dirt nodded her approval of her husbands words.      "Of course, my true friends. I'll never need anyone besides you," Pinkamena crooned to the assortment of objects around her. Discord stared at the pony, whose pupils appeared to be shrinking. She was just as conflicted and full of Chaos as he was. So much insanity, all packed into one little pony. Discord wasn't truly alone, he did have someone like him. There were other chaos creatures out there. Other denizens of the land that would appreciate his chaos. Discord could feel his old confidence and power flowing through him. His wings began to flap and he floated above Pinkie right next to the cloud. With a wide grin that revealed a mouth of fangs, Discord kicked the cotton candy cloud. Immediately chocolate rain doused the oh-so-random pony below.       Pinkamena Diane Pie looked up at the rain, her mouth hanging open. A few drops managed to land directly on her tongue. Pinkie jumped up, her tail and mane exploding into a pink cloud of hair as she leaped and played in the rain. Discord settled down beside the pony as she paused in her enjoyment. Her eyes were wide and so was her smile. Her fur was soaked in chocolate rain, and she had pulled a giant swizzle straw from nowhere.      "Oh, thank you thank you, thank you Mr. Discord! This is the bestest present EVER!" Pinkie exclaimed. She dashed at Discord, slamming into him and wrapping her hooves around his middle. Discord stared down at the pony, his eyes wide. No pony had ever hugged him before. They were usually too busy turning him to stone. He was still quite bitter about that....      Discord's surprised expression softened into a smile. He patted Pinkie Pie's back, smirking. He stared down at her. She had helped       "Say, Pinkie, how would you like to be surrounded by cotton candy clouds and chocolate rain forever?" Discord asked, his tone casual. He kept it light, but behind it was a tremulous, hesitant Discord who wasn't sure of what he was saying. He was a solo flier, and definitely not a team player. But something about this particular pony was different. She was like him. Discord and Pinkie Pie. Both misunderstood by those around them. Both capable of things that would baffle the smartest pony, such as Twilight Sparkle. She hadn't been able to explain him away, or make sense of Pinkie Pie.      Pinkie's eyes widened at the mere idea of such a nirvana. She honestly could not imagine something that would make her happier. Chocolate rain and cotton candy. To Pinkie Pie it sounded like heaven.      "That would the absolutely positively bestest most super amazing extra awesome thing ever!" Pinkie replied, attempting to squeeze as many adjectives in as possible. Discord grinned widely at his little pink companion.      "You, my little Pinkie, have given me back my inspiration for pure chaos! If you stay with me, you can have all the chocolate rain you want," Discord invited.      "Could we play pranks too? Like the one where you made Big Macintosh act like a dog!" Pinkie asked, the memory of seeing Big Mac barking sending her off into a delightful round of giggles. Discord joined in her laughter, feeling the old joy flow back into him. Someone who appreciated his pranks, who got why he did what he did. Who understood that there was no why. It was pure and utter chaos. No why or how. This was why he loved chaos so much. This was what had made him start those pranks so many years ago.      "Of course, Pinkie. We can pull pranks all day long," Discord agreed, grinning. Pinkie Pie returned the smile, letting out another giggle. Then a thought seemed to strike her.      "What about my friends?" Pinkie Pie inquired, staring up at Discord with a trembling lip. He looked down at her, thinking of the other five. So boring.... Except when he was playing with them. With Pinkie Pie at his side, he would undoubtedly get more chances to spice up their lives. "Don't worry, my little pony. We'll be returning to Ponyville very, very soon," Discord reassured her.
