Revelation
She Said, I Said.
Written by BlackMirage & SolidFire
Ponyville was particularly crowded today, the hoof-traffic was going by much slower than normal, I found myself boxed in rather quickly by fast moving, rushed ponies. On the other hoof, it was a beautiful day to be out and enjoy the sun, Princess Celestia had graced us with yet another gorgeous day.
I felt the wind pick up, blowing my mane from my face and leaving it behind my ear. I was grateful that my mane was so soft and plush, it almost cushioned my head as I walked about.
I smiled softly to myself. I should thank Rarity for the idea of going to the spa every week. I thought, the spa was always so calm and relaxing, and the ponies there had always been so sweet and calm around everypony.
I looked up, watching the clouds flow with the wind ever so slowly. I looked around in the sky, there were quite a few more clouds than usual today, I wondered what the weather team was up to.
I stumbled through the crowd until I reached Sugarcube Corner, opening the front door and hearing a loud chime from the bell above my head.
“Welcome to Sugarcube Corner, where we bake cookies and cake and tarts and cake!” Pinkie Pie said, flashing in front of me before I could fully get into the door. “And did I mention cake?”
I giggled softly, staring up into Pinkie’s wide, sparkling blue irises.
“Sorry Pinkie, I just had to meet Rainbow Dash today, do you know where she is seated?” I asked, looking around the store for the rainbow maned pegasus.
Pinkie bounced up and down as I entered, following me along.
“Well, she said she had a bellyache, so she went upstairs into my room for a minute, you can go see her if you want!” Pinkie rambled, ending with a gigantic smile.
“Thank you, Pinkie.” I said, brushing up against my friend.
I walked through the crowded store until I reached the stairs in the corner of the building. I walked up the twisting stairs, remembering Rainbow Dash’s conversation with me the day before. She needed to talk to me about an important matter, she had been acting... strange, she was jumpy and determined to leave, I didn’t want to make her stay, if she had other business, I couldn’t keep her to myself, that would be selfish...
I opened a large pink door as I climbed the last step, walking into the room.
Rainbow Dash sat by a window, looking up at the sky through it, probably thinking about flying or her Wonderbolts training. I smiled and spoke, softly enough not to startle her.
“R-Rainbow Dash?” I said, trying to get her attention.
“Oh, hi Fluttershy, I didn’t hear you come in.” Dash said, turning her attention toward me.
I walked over to her sitting down softly next to her to look at her. “What did you want to talk about?” I asked, brushing a bit of her mane away from her eyes with a wing.
Her face reddened, she looked away, then looked back quickly. “I...um...needed to say, uh...”
“Is something wrong?” I asked, moving closer to her. “You know you can tell me, right?”
“N-nothing’s the matter ‘Shy, I just don’t know...” She said, turning her gaze to the floor.
“Rainbow,” I said, putting a hoof on her shoulder and raising her head with the other, “are you alright?” I asked.
She shrugged off my hoof quickly and then ran to the door, calling back, “I’ve gotta...uh...go feed Tank. See ya later ‘Shy.” After she spoke, she ran out the door.
“Oh, um... alright...” I said to the empty room, frowning.
I watched Rainbow fly off towards Rarity’s boutique, nowhere near her home where Tank surely was, maybe he had been with Opalescence for the day?
Then Rarity would have fed him. I thought.
I walked to the door, opening it and stopping, closing my eyes.
Rainbow wouldn’t lie to me, right? I questioned myself.
I sighed, opening my eyes and trotting down the stairs. Maybe a day at the spa would help.
I could feel my heart beating quickly in my chest. I don’t know how I managed to get out of there without saying anything, but one thing was for sure; I needed some advice.
Of all of my friends, I could only think that Rarity would have been in an actual relationship, so she was the obvious one to talk to. I just wasn’t all that sure if she would be okay with my...preferences.
I should have been calming down during the flight to Carousel Boutique, but that wasn’t the case. With each flap of my wings I felt my heart beat faster and another bead of sweat roll down my face.
How is Fluttershy able to get inside my head like this? How can I feel like this towards one of my best friends? I’ve known her since flight school for Luna’s sake!
Maybe that’s where it all started. Sharing a room, being the only pony I could talk to, the only one that didn’t make fun of me... and now look at her. She’s even nicer than she was before. She’s made that kindness that she showed me all those years ago into her entire being.
Ugh, why am I getting all sappy? I’ve got to get this straightened out soon, or I’ll drive myself insane. I thought as I landed at Rarity’s door.
“Okay...focus Dash” I said quietly to myself as I knocked three times.
I heard hoofsteps from inside, after a few seconds Rarity opened the door.
“Rainbow, darling, how are you?” Rarity asked, blowing her mane from her face.
“Um, fine Rarity.” I said, fidgeting slightly, “Can I come in?”
“Of course,” Rarity said, letting me in. “It sure is quite the busy day, is it not?”
“Yeah.” I said, not really focussing on what she was saying.
Rarity raised an eyebrow at me and pursed her lips, “Rainbow Dash, what’s wrong?” She asked, walking up to me.
I let out a quiet sigh, saying, “I’d best get right to it, shouldn’t I...?”
“Obviously, darling.” Rarity said, “As your friend, I will always listen.”
“Right.” I said, taking a seat and looking Rarity in the eyes, “W-what can you tell me about...relationships?”
Rarity blushed, giggling girlishly. “Relationships? Is there somepony you have your eyes on?” She asked, bumping up against me.
“Y-yeah...I guess you could say that.” I said, feeling my cheeks warm up from a blush.
“Well, who’s the lucky stallion?” Rarity asked, giggling again and putting a foreleg around my neck.
Horseapples. I thought to myself. I hope she doesn’t judge too hard...
“He is a... she. I’m into mares Rarity...”
Rarity blinked, “Well, that is a... surprise...” She said, “Who’s the mare then?”
“Um...she’s uh...” I said, glancing about the room.
“Come on, Dashie, I don’t judge.” Rarity said with an unconvincing smile.
“Um-”
“Is it one of the girls?” Rarity asked, interrupting me.
“Uh...yes...” I said quietly.
Rarity let go of me and stood up, staring me down. “Rainbow Dash, if you don’t tell me who, I have no way of helping you.”
“It’s...it’s...it’s Fluttershy, okay? I like Fluttershy...” I said quickly.
“Fluttershy? And you need advice?” Rarity asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I need help with these... feelings.” I mumbled.
“Have you forgotten that Fluttershy is your best friend?” Rarity asked. “And you have been friends since you were fillies?”
“That’s what I’m worried about.” I said, “I’m worried I’ll mess up what we have as friends.”
“Rainbow Dash, even if things don’t work out, you would still stay friends, it might be...” Rarity hesitated, “Different... but regardless, she would always be your friend.” She explained.
“I guess you’re right Rarity. What am I supposed to do then?” I asked, giving Rarity a pleading look.
“Why don’t you go to the spa with her for a day? It might help you relax so it could be easier to ask her.” She asked, giving a smile.
“What!? No, nonononono. I’m not going to some spa.” I argued.
Rarity frowned, “Rainbow Dash, if you are going to date this mare, you are going to have to do some things that she likes, and not have it all about yourself.”
“I know.” I said, lowering my head, “But does it have to be the spa? I don’t want anypony touching my hooves.”
“Why don’t you just get the massage with her? Maybe go in the sauna?” Rarity asked.
“I guess that’ll work. Thanks Rarity.” I said, giving Rarity a small smile.
“Of course, darling.” Rarity said, opening her door, “I think she is on her way now, you had better get going.”
“Okay Rarity.” I said, stepping out of her Boutique, “Thanks again.”
I unfurled my wings and took off in the direction of the spa with a new resolve burning strongly in my heart.
I arrived in the front of the spa, pushing open the door and walking in, Aloe and Lotus walked up to me.
“Is Miss Rarity not with you today?” Aloe asked.
“Um, no, is that alright?” I asked, a small frown forming on my face.
“Of course, sweetheart.” Lotus said. “Any changes today?”
I smiled, “Just the usua-”
Just before I finished my sentence, the door shot open, a blue blur screamed past me, stopping just before it collided into the wall. Rainbow Dash landed and walked towards me with a small smile.
“Rainbow Dash? What are you doing here? Um, not that I mind or anything...” I asked, lowering my voice.
“I uh... thought I’d give this spa place a shot and spend some time with my best friend.” Rainbow said, her smile growing.
My smile grew and a blush appeared on my face. “That is sweet of you, thank you Rainbow.” I looked back at Aloe and Lotus, they both gave a smile.
I looked back over at Rainbow Dash, “Are you sure you are comfortable with all of the treatments?” I asked.
“I think I’ll try the, um...massage and sauna?” Rainbow said, giving me a lost look.
I turned back to Aloe and Lotus, “Just those two, please.” I said with a smile.
Rainbow Dash and I trotted through a small doorway, I led her into a small room with two massage beds, surrounded by tables with oils and other assorted things. The room was very dimly lit, only candles lighting it while also giving off a nice smell. It had a very calm, soothing atmosphere.
I helped Rainbow get into the bed, she didn’t seem to be very comfortable with her belly down, but I remembered I wasn’t at first, so I knew she would eventually get used to it.
I laid down and my bed and I looked over at her, seeing her staring over at me.
“Hey Rainbow?” I said, smiling at her.
“Yeah ‘Shy?” She asked, “What’s up?”
“Um, were you okay this morning?” I asked, remembering her awkward state.
“Uh, sort of. I had...a lot on my mind.” She said.
I moved in place, “Do you wanna talk about it?” I asked.
“I’ll tell you when we’re in the sauna thingy. Okay?” She said.
“Um, okay then.” I said.
Aloe and Lotus walked into the room, Lotus moved over to Rainbow Dash and Aloe came to me. Lotus rubbed her hooves with lotion and poked around on Rainbow’s back, feeling for knots. The pegasus cringed as Lotus began to knead around on her back, the mare was tensing.
“Rainbow, you have to relax for it to actually help...” I said, frowning.
“I’ll... try but... this is... weird.” She said, pausing as she cringed in discomfort.
“Would it help if Aloe was doing it?”
“I don’t think it would matter. I don’t like ponies touching me all that much...” She said.
I sighed, trying to think of a way to get her to relax.
“Aloe, Lotus can you leave the room for a moment?” I asked.
The sisters bowed, leaving quickly.
Rainbow sat up with a confused look on her face.
“What’s up ‘Shy? Why’d you have ‘em leave?” She asked.
I stood up with a frown, “Lay down.” I said, trying to hold my voice at a louder level.
“Um... okay.” She said, laying down as instructed.
I got up on top of her, sitting down lightly on her back. I reached for lotion and spread it on my hooves, then I began to replicate what Aloe and Lotus would do. She wasn’t as tense as she seemed to be, she exhaled deeply, making me smile.
“Is this a little better?” I asked, continuing my motions.
“Yeah... much better.” She moaned out.
I moved down to her lower back and her waist, massaging lightly. She shifted around a bit, letting out a small whine.
“That didn’t hurt, did it?” I asked.
“N-no, I’m fine.” She she said breathily.
I giggled a little bit, smiling at the fact that I was helping her.
I moved my hooves up to the middle of her back, rubbing at the base of her wings, rubbing under them and a little on her wings. She rustled her wings a little bit, spreading them out a little. I rubbed her shoulders a little bit, moving her neck around.
“How is that?” I asked.
“Mmm. That’s nice.” She said dreamily.
“Do you want me to do your chest at all?” I asked, rubbing her wings.
“Mhm, sure.” She said quietly.
I stood up over her, letting her turn over on her back. She let out a long sigh as she laid down and I sat down on her belly. As I rubbed over her chest, her breathing quickened, and her heart raced in her chest, as I moved onto her forelegs, I felt her toned muscles flex under her skin, I had never felt her legs like this, I had never known she would be so muscular, and still look so feminine. She had curves in all the right places, yet not as prominent as some of the non-athletic mares.
“Are you showing off your muscles, Dashie?” I asked, giggling.
“N-no, it just feels good.” She said, her face turning a lovely shade of scarlet.
I felt a little tingling sensation in my spine, leading down between my haunches. My face quickly matched Rainbow’s, I kind of fidgeted in place, trying to shake off the sensation.
Rainbow opened her eyes, the gorgeous magenta shined in the light of the candles. I smiled at her, then she smiled back.
“Rainbow, are you feeling better than before?” I asked.
“Yeah, thanks ‘Shy. That felt...really good.” She said, smile changing into a giddy grin.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it.” I said, laying down on her and hugging her.
I pulled away for a second, staring into her glowing eyes and smiling, I didn’t notice how close I was to her.
Before I realised what was going on, Rainbow had shut her eyes and pressed her lips to mine in a kiss. I was shocked, my eyes were locked open, Rainbow held me close, I watched a tear fall from the corner of her eye.
I pulled away, when I looked away I felt my face flare up. I felt my heart speed up.
“Rainbow...” I said, not looking at her. “Why did you...?” I stumbled, trying to figure out what happened.
“I-I’m sor-”
I jumped off of her, my heart dropped.
“I thought you were my friend!” I shouted, a fire lit in my heart. “Are you and Pinkie pulling a joke on me because I like mares?”
“Wha... You like mares too?” She asked incredulously.
Tears rushed from my eyes, “It isn’t nice to mock your friends!” I shouted. “W-why would you do that?”
“I-I’m not making fun of you ‘Shy. I... I like mares too! You’re not alone.” She said, getting back up to her hooves.
I sat down, crying to myself. “N-no...” My words broke up, so I just cried.
I felt a hoof on my chin, through teary eyes I saw Rainbow Dash, I swore I could see tears in her eyes. She leaned down and kissed me.
I couldn’t let ‘Shy think that this was all some cruel prank, I had to make sure she knew that what I did was genuine. That probably explains why I gave it another shot. I thought. I could hear her tears hit the tiled floor, my own falling and mixing with them. She didn’t deserve to feel sadness and betrayal like that. She needed to know that somepony cared about her, to know that somepony loved her.
Her lips were so soft, so caressing, so gentle. Just like her. Unfortunately, my need for oxygen was a bit more urgent at the moment. I pulled away from the kiss, gasping for air, breaking a thin strand of saliva that connected us.
“I... I’m sorry... I thought...” Fluttershy’s voice was barely above a whisper, the hurt in her voice hadn’t vanished completely, but she was calm. “I thought you were making fun of me...”
“I’d never make fun of you ‘Shy. Especially for something like that.” I said, gently rubbing her foreleg with my own.
“I... I didn’t think you thought of me like this...” Fluttershy said, a faint blush on her cheeks, she pulled me in for a hug. “Thank you, Dashie.”
I returned the hug, smoothly running one of my hooves through her flowing pink mane, admiring how silky smooth and soft it was.
“You’re welcome ‘Shy. W-why didn’t you tell me? We’re best friends, we can tell each other anything.” I said softly.
“I... I didn’t think you would stay my friend... if you knew.” Fluttershy said, gripping me tighter.
“‘Shy, we’ve been best friends for years. I wouldn’t throw all that away for any reason.” I said, nuzzling her cheek.
Fluttershy kissed Rainbow Dash’s cheek, nuzzling her neck and resting her head on her shoulder.
I just sat there with Fluttershy, enjoying the feeling of her warm body against mine.
Suddenly, light flooded the room, I blinked a few times before I saw Aloe and Lotus at the door, Aloe had a hoof to her mouth, while Lotus was giggling.
“Did we interrupt?” Aloe asked, trying to hold back a grin.
“Uh...” I started, turnback to Fluttershy, “Fluttershy? Do you still want to get the...uh, spa treatment?”
“Um... no... if that is okay...” She said, looking into my eyes.
“That’s fine by me ‘Shy.” I said before turning my gaze to Lotus and Aloe, “Sorry ladies, but we’re gonna back out of the pampering.”
The two bowed while giggling, then we walked from the room.
As we walked, I saw Rarity at the door of Carousel Boutique, smiling proudly, I waved to her with a grin on my face. She smiled back and waved.
“Um... Dashie?” Fluttershy asked.
“Yeah ‘Shy?” I asked, “What’s up?”
“I just wanted to ask... if you, um... wanted to come back to my cottage for dinner?” She asked.
“Um...sure ‘Shy. That sounds nice.” I said.
As we walked, Fluttershy gave a quick kiss on my cheek, smiling at me as she backed away. I smiled back, blushing from the open affection. The entire time we walked, a smile was plastered on my face.
