> Rosey Red > by PinkamenaDianePie143 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Step one. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- One way to get your friends to hate you is forget to bring the food for the party. I walked up to the door and knock softly. Then realized out of the blue... I FORGOT THE FOOD! I ran around in circles on Red's porch. When finally he opened the door. Red Delicious stands in front of me confused and asks, "Carrot Top... are you okay?" I stare at him with wide eyes and frozen in-place legs. I started to sweat and my hooves got clammy. I almost started to slide around on the wood with how wet my hooves were. "Uh... hi... Red... " My eye's started to twitch. "I uh... kinda forgot..." I paused. "Forgot what?" He looked at me for a little bit then lowered his head. He looked at the floor. "You forgot the food..." He sighed and went in side for a bit. I heard other ponies from inside groan and yell. He came back shortly afterwards. "Hey um..." He began, "The other ponies don't want you here..." He stared at the floor. "Oh..." I looked behind me and started to tear up. I slowly looked back. " I'll go..." I whimpered and started back on the trail. "Wait!" I heard from behind me. I whipped my head around and saw Red trot up to my side. "I think the party can go on with out the host..." He smiled to me. "Come on lets go on a walk." I smiled back and thought in my head, 'Red Delicious wants to go... on a walk... WITH ME?!?' I started to blush and thought again, 'Hehe... That's step one...' I looked at him and smiled. He never looked at me. He kept staring on ahead, but I looked at his blue mane, his blue eyes. How beautiful they were. How handsome he was. I giggled and looked back on to the trail. That's step one, to get him to love me. > Rain rain go away. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As we trotted on the trail, I had saw that the rain clouds were moving in. I thought to myself about how great it would be if Red kissed me in the rain. I flipped my tail around in happiness when accidentally I had hit Red. "Hey!" He yapped at me. He looked at me in those big, beautiful blue eyes. "Why did you do that?" I had lost thought when I looked him in the face, and said, "I love your beautiful eye's." Then, I quickly snapped back to reality and figured out what I had just said. I put a hoof to my open wide mouth. He stood there looking at me a little confusion in his face. I started to say, "I..I didn't mean for that... to-" He cut me off. "You really think so...?" And he started to blush. "Can I ask you a question?" He looked me in my eyes. My mind started to go wild. I thought of what question he will ask me and if he is going to ask me if I like him. I answered with a crack in my voice, "Y-yes? Anything." I smiled trying to make it look like I'm not going crazy. "Do you think it's going to rain?" He asked me. My heart stopped. No actually, it dropped and shattered and broke into a million pieces. I looked up at the sky trying not to cry. I replied with a shallow voice, "Maybe. I don't know. Smells like it." I still looked at the sky. One tear ran it self down my cheek, I pulled my eyes closed as fast as possible and looked at the ground. I blinked several times before I heard Red whisper, "Hey now, what's wrong?" I looked up at him and said, "Oh nothing... I'm fine. Rain just got in my eye is all." I sniffled a little. He started to trot on the path again and nodded for me to follow. "Where are we going?" I asked him. "Somewhere you're going to like." He looked at me then back to the trail. As I followed him, I felt a rain drop on my nose. I looked up and saw large thunder cloud up over us. Then I looked at where he was taking me. I saw a cave. A dark, deep looking cave. I shivered and sighed. Oh I hope this rain goes away... > The Shadows in the Darkness. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Red and I had approached the cave with caution. Yet he entered it without hesitation. I walked slowly and with every noise, I jumped. "What's so wrong, scared?" He laughed at me. "There is nothing to be scared of." He looked to me with reassurance. I smiled back and laughed it off with him. "I guess your right. Everything is going to be just fine, as long as I'm with you." I trotted faster to catch up with him. I smelled the sent of mold and rain mix together. It wasn't the most pleasant sent. I cringed when I heard a loud scrapping noise. I looked up and saw Red scrapping rocks on the side of the walls. He was sitting on the ground holding a rock in his mouth scrapping it repetitively on the wall. I sat next to him. Yawning I asked him what we are going to do. He never replied, because a large thunder strike scared the life out of us. We both jumped up onto our hooves. I ran to him for protection. He wrapped his hoof around me and pulled me close. I could feel the heat from his body. It was so warm and comforting. I started to drift to a sweet, sweet sleep, when he started to speak to me. "What do think of me?" He asked softly. I could hear in his voice that he was a little shy to ask that. "Uh, me? Are you talking to me?" I wondered. Even though it was the most stupid question to ask at the moment when only we were the ones in the cave. "No, I'm talking to the wall. Yes you." He paused and smiled to me. "What do you think of me?" I was so scared and terrified to answer that question. I was sweating again like crazy. My hooves got clammy again. I tried to speak but all that came out was a squeak. He giggled at me. "You seem nervous. Don't be. It's just you and me. No one else." He sounded so safe. So reassuring. I started to talk when all of a sudden a huge crash from inside the cave erupted. We both looked at each other and then we looked deeper in the cave. I saw shadows moving from what I thought was light. Shadows from within the darkness. > We don't remember. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Standing up, I started slowly deeper in the cave. The shadows had stopped but I still wanted to see what made the noise. "Hey is that even safe...?" Red quietly said. "I really don't want you to get hurt." He trotted up to my side. "I'll be fine, don't worry about me." I blushed. He followed me as I softly stepped closer to the darkness. My breathing was erratic. Going crazy. Wait... that's not my breathing... I stopped and listened. I turned to see Red sweating like crazy. Shivering, breathing heavily. I put a hoof on his back. I tried to comfort him. I felt like I need to do this. "Hey now. There is nothing to be scared of." I smiled to him and giggled. "If you want I'll go back to that question you asked me." I slowly shut off after I said that. I never really wanted to answer that question. Red looked at me in surprise, then softly smiled and shook it off. "What do you think of me? I hope this time doesn't get interrupted." He asked as we hopped over a small stream. I splashed him in the process. "What I think about you? I think your the greatest stallion in the entire world... " I paused for a second. I stopped all together. Looked at where I stopped and looked around. I was at a slanted edge. I was at the very edge. If I hadn't stopped I could of died. I shook off that thought and smiled. Then finally continued, "You're awesome. You're amazing, handsome, nice, sweet." I stopped and thought, 'Should I tell him how I feel? I think I will.' I smiled and looked him in the eyes. "I really li--" All of a sudden the ground under my hooves started to shift and move. I looked behind me to the deeper inside the cave. Then back down to the ground under me. I slipped and slid on my side down deeper inside the cave. I looked at Red in shock. I was terrified. I tried to scream but no words came out. Then I saw Red sliding down after me. "CARROT TOP! NO!" I looked up to see on his face he was crying. He yelled once more. "CARROT! I'M COMING AFTER YOU. DON'T BE SCARED. I'LL SAVE YOU!" Tears rushed down his face as he slid down faster trying to catch me. I finally got words out of my choked out throat. "RED I'M SCARED!" Tears started to form in my eyes. I felt the air rush on my face as I tried to open my mouth to yell. "RED WHERE ARE YOU!?" I got no reply. I looked up and saw Red wasn't there anymore. Where did he go? I hit a rock and flew up in the air. Crashing hard on my side and slamming my head on the rock floor. I lay there motionless. My tears piled around me. I was soaked in something disgusting, I don't know where Red is, I'm all cut up and scrapped, and I'm trapped down here. Wait, where did I slide down from? I tried to move my head and failed. I decided just lay there and sleep. Only problem is, I don't remember how I got here. > The faster it clicks, The more I follow it. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Waken by a soft breeze, I slowly open my dry, dusty eyes. I blink a few times to take in the light. Or, what I thought was light. When only it was a piece of glass, reflecting in my eyes. I slowly sit up. Pain struck in my head like a bullet. "Ugh... " I groan. I rub my forehead. I roughly get up staggering for my balance. I take in my surroundings. Broken glass. Huge trees and sharp bushes. I feel moistness and smell rain. Seems like I'm in a forest. I start to walk slowly for my legs where as jello. They hurt, I looked and saw a gash in my right leg. From my flank to my crest in my knee. I whimper. I still push forth in this large forest. It was mostly green and brown. The occasional blue or red flower. I thought it was beautiful and majestic. Then, out of the blue, I stopped and listen for a second and heard a faint 'Click' sound up ahead. I try to make my steps quiet as branches break under my hooves. I follow the noise up ahead. I hoped for it to be Red. I wanted to huddle with him and fall asleep on him while he treats my wounds. A tear slipped through and fell to the forest floor. I decided to sit down and clean my coat of dry blood. I started to cry again. Tears over flow my eyes. I walked on forward still looking for the thing that makes the clicking noise. When I came up on this river. I put my hoof in it and shot it back in a millisecond. It was freezing cold. Not fit for walking through. I ran around the side of the river bank looking for a way over it. The only way was the three rocks that stuck out of the water in a row. I shivered and cringed as the water rushed by the rocks, splashing and throwing up in the air. Causing the rocks to become more and more slippery. I thought about what would happen if I feel in the the water and got taken away by the current. How Red would be lost somewhere out here in the forest. If he was IN the forest. Oh, how I hoped he was in the forest. I hope he was the one causing the clicking sound. Thinking about the clicking sound, it had become to grow stronger. Louder. Closer. I began to encourage myself to hop those rocks, and run to the clicking sound. In hope it is Red. Beside the fact I have an open wound on my hind leg. I still bled, yet not as bad. I looked at the rocks, then back to the forest from where I came. I slowly turned around and trotted back into the forest... Then whipped around and ran full speed toward the rocks. I came so close to falling in the water as I hopped to the first rock. I stood there trying to maintain balance. Once done, I got in position to hop to the next rock. I put all my strength in to this jump and barely caught the side of the rock. My hooves cling onto the rock as the strong current pulled and tugged at my legs. I prayed to Celestia that I live. > No one home. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The water froze my hind legs. I could barely feel them. I struggled to stay on the rock, as I held on with all my strength. My hooves got scrapped up and I could feel the blood stream off my wet hoofs. Water got in my mouth and it kept getting harder to breath. I prayed some more for help and I started to just give up. I haven't found Red, and I don't know where I am. I thought about my family and how much i loved them. I started to talk out loud. "Mom... I love you. Dad... I miss you... I love you to." I thought that if I let go I'll sooner or later see my father. He had past many years ago, yet I still cried almost every night about his passing. Then I started thinking about Red. And still, I talked out loud. "Red... Your so amazing, I love you I do... I wish I could be with you for the rest of my pony years. I Wish you had loved me to. I wish you had been here. I wish I could feel your warmth once more before I go. I... love you." Tears streamed down my face. I knew I wasn't going to make it. I knew there was no one to save me. My right hoof let loose and flung to the side. I prepared to die. I knew it was coming. I crushed my eye's together and stopped crying. I sucked up my fears. I wiped my tears. Closed my eyes, and prepared for the worst. I let my only hoof go. "What do you think your doing?" I heard behind me. All of a sudden, before my hoof hit the water, It was pulled by something. I whipped my head around and saw who it was. Red Delicious. He pulled me up with all his strength and yanked me out of the water. "You alright?" He looked me up and down, then he finally saw my gash in my hind leg. It was ripped open again and pouring. My hooves had been torn up by the sharp edges on the rock and every time I step I felt pain. "Oh..." He said after a while. Then he slowly walked into the forest and came back shortly with leaves and vine in his mouth. He dropped them and said, "These are for your wounds, I'll be back, I had just seen an aloe plant. That will help as if medicine." He smiled to me in a reassuring way, then went onward looking for the aloe plant. I was saved... I am alive. Time for a sleep. No one home in my head at the moment, I've been thinking to much. Time for everyone to go home. Time for me to go home. > Take me away. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up to rustling. Movement. I opened my eye's to see Red Delicious stand in front of me. He smiled. "Hey sleepy head. Have a nice nap?" He chuckled. "I bandaged up your wounds, even your hooves." He smiled at me. Then continued. "I heard everything..." His voice went numb. Cold and hard. Yet his face kept smiling. As if he tried to assure me that it's okay that he heard me. I blushed and lost all my breath. "Y-you... did?" I moved my tail and hit my gash. I whimpered. "Yes, and I do feel the same. I have loved you since day one. Your beautiful, the prettiest mare in the world. And I love you." He said then looked away. My heart raced, I panicked and sweated like crazy. I do that a lot. Sweating like crazy. He looked me in my eyes deep and thoughtful. He slowly leaned in with closed eye's. I knew what was coming next. The kiss. My heart pounded in my chest, so hard it was right about to jump out and run away. I closed my eye's and leaned in too. To soon my lips touched his mouth. Mine wet from nervousness, his dry from dehydration. Yet it sucked, my first kiss. It was amazing and I loved it. Spite all the mess that we got in, I loved every second of it. When I took my head from his, I asked, "How did we get here?" He answered sternly, "When you awoke from the crash, I had picked you up on my back and got you out of the cave, I set you down out under a tree away from the rain, and went looking for help. You some how ended up where I was trying to make a smoke signal." He stopped, a tear fell into the grass. And pressed on, "I heard noises of which sounded like a person. Then I found you letting go of life..." He paused, sniffled and a few more tears fell to the ground. "I heard you saying you loved me. And I ran to you and caught you before you let go. I never want you gone. Don't ever leave me..." He started to cry. A silent sniffle cry. I pulled myself to him, since I couldn't get up with out pain striking me and causing me to fall. I wrapped my hooves around him and hugged him tightly. I had started to cry also. I just lay there holding him as we cried. Till minutes passed, and he stopped crying. He whipped his face from dried up tears and muttered, "I know how to get out of the forest..." I replied softly and looked him in the eye's, "Take me away from here. Please." > The way back home. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- He helped me with every move. I could barely walk. My hooves were soar. My flank hurt from my gash. Yet I was determined to get out of this hell hole. My coat was matted and dirty. Reds' is the same. We stopped a while later and found a small pond. First Red cleaned off his coat and mane the best he could, then helped me with mine. He re-bandaged my leg and hooves. We finally went back on the trail out of the forest. I enjoyed the scenery on our little walk. The green and brown. Then the occasional blue or red flower. Sometimes even a purple flower. I enjoyed the sent of wild life and seeing squirrels climb trees. And hearing the occasional monkey or bird. I thought that Fluttershy would love this place. I know I did, whether or not it broke me down and spit me out. Finally after at least an hour of walking, we finally broke in the sunlight. I saw a road. I saw grass and few trees. I smelled it and took in the fresh air. No more moistness and moldiness. I started to tear up in joy. My eye's filled up and let loose, and so did Reds'. I started to laugh thinking it wasn't true. Thinking I was dreaming. "Pinch me... I'm dreaming..." I said quietly. "Oh my Celestia... We are free." He looked at me in a sheepish look, and blushed. I returned with a smile and giggle. He pulled me close and kissed me again. This time it was a freedom kiss. The kiss that I wanted the entire time. The romantic, long, sweet kiss I've died for from him. Even if it wasn't in the rain, I loved it so much. He pulled back and looked me in the eye's. "I love you." He said it plain out there. With a smile and a love in his eyes. "I love you to. I do." I replied. I smiled, blushed, and giggled. "Take me home?" I asked him. He looked at me and laughed. "Why not?"
