> Pony Poetry, Perhaps? > by Mikemarksman > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Reformed > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Master of Chaos awakens! And really not a moment too soon! There's faith to be shaken, And things to be taken, And ponies to send to the moon! Oh great, it's you six, guess I can't just unwind, At least let me catch my breath! Being imprisoned in stone might make me go blind, But I assure you I never go deaf. And here comes Kindness, to fill me with fright, With her condescending stare. I'll play along, it's hilarious, right? She thinks that I actually care! Twilight's not pleased, and here come the threats, Of being sealed once more, you see. I have no intention of changing just yet, But let's keep that between you and me. Fluttershy's plan is comedy perfection! She's intent on making friends. Though perhaps with a touch of subtle deception, I could further my own evil ends... But a plan needs stages, So let's start at step one. Find the books, eat the pages, Then I can really have some fun! Next let's torment Angel, the little pest, He sees through every lie. But really, he's powerless, just like the rest. Let's see his home touch the sky! Ah, Fluttershy's back, her will I'll soon bend, I just have to set things in motion. A slight comment, but no, she still trusts her friends, I'll just have to break that notion. A dinner party? Step two! Time to start my endeavour, To sow the seeds of distrust. But I'll have to be clever, Now more than ever, Innocent façades are a must. Rainbow is far too suspicious, She's smarter than I thought, And though my current intentions are far from malicious, It seems her loyalty still can't be bought. But Fluttershy's convinced, rising to my defence, She thinks I'm on the mend. Then she speaks those words... monumental, immense, She says that I'm... her friend? This feeling is different... warm, keeps my darkness at bay, Certainly... unexpected. But it doesn't take much to push it away, For that warmth to be rejected. It's time for step three now the flooding's complete, To pry those fools apart. Just pull the right strings and it's no tough feat, To get to Fluttershy's heart. And there it is, the stage is set, We negotiate our deal: I fix the floods, and her trust I get, Then my dreams shall become very real! The water's gone, replaced by ice, My chaotic spirit is freed! She can't break her promise, she's far too nice, My freedom is guaranteed! Before the moment she turned the bend, I thought my heart as cold as the ice. But my plan was flawed, for I became her friend, And now I'm paying the price. More new feelings, regret, despair, As I watch my only friend leaving. And as my heart falls into disrepair, I find myself silently grieving. I won't let this happen, I can't let her go, It just feels twisted and wrong. I had her friendship for but a moment, I know, But I only appreciate that now it's gone. A snap of my fingers and all is undone, My devious plans meet their ends. I'll admit it, I faced off against Kindness, she won, But it's worth it, as long as we're friends. Celestia says she's sensed a big change, Though she's leaving the others plan B. Which, all in all, isn't really that strange, After all, they're dealing with me! So now I'm a force for good, it seems, But a force of chaos, no less. Let's hope I don't pull Equestria apart at the seams, Or leave Canterlot a smouldering mess. It's going to be new, not causing strife, And suppressing my malevolent flare. Though I'll balance my new life, On the edge of a knife, Just to see how much I care. I can cause some benign chaos, as I usually would, That isn't exactly a crime. So I guess I can give it a try being good, At least... Most of the time. > Ace in the Hole > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's an old saying amongst us tacticians, On the elements that make our plans whole. That behind your burning ambitions, And sincerest admissions, Always have an ace in the hole. A show of force would never work, I thought, We aren't creatures built to fight. So then why go to all that trouble, for naught? Simple. My ace was a pony named Twilight. She was smart enough to realise, That her old foalsitter was gone. A slip up on my part, in the area I specialise? No, it's what I was counting on. After all, who would suspect the prisoner? The anguished, suffering bride? She bought it all, what an excellent listener! Unaware of the monster inside. But how, if the 'Queen' was in the castle above? And I, helping Twilight break free? Because it wasn't myself draining Shining's love, But my servant, masquerading as me. We broke from the caverns, my double revealed, The spell was ready to cast, My minions fled, and I, still concealed, Completed my plan, at last. They had seen my clone defeated, They thought it was over and done. Yes, my forces retreated, But theirs were conceited, And in their complacency, I'd won. Now I have an Empire, my hive's exact antithesis, And grounds for my subjects to feed, And the brother of a hapless, clueless nemesis, Eager to satiate my greed. And poor little Cadence? I'll give her a mention, She's not quite gone just yet. But I'll build up the tension, And her apprehension, Before I add her to the set. And to think all it took was a switch with my closest of blood, To leave all my ambitions unfettered. Yes, whilst an ace in the hole is all well and good, Two are undoubtedly better. Chrysalis looked out over her Crystal Empire and smiled.
