Daily Routine
As I awoke from another unexpected slumber from a long night of study I slowly got my bearings. My hazy view slowly clearing to reveal my bedroom with my desk covered in books, my bed still neatly made from me not sleeping on it, and everything looking undisturbed. To be honest, my bed was looking quite tempting right now. But, of course, I had to keep my schedule for today. Otherwise Spike would complain about the two hours it took him to make the check list I needed.
So I groggily made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth, clean my mane, and preen my wings. My wings are actually still a pain to sleep with… I honestly don’t know how pegasi do it. Now that I think about it, how do the princesses do it? Well, I guess they’d be used to it; after all they were born with them… or were they…? Ugh, I’m letting my mind wander too much. Alright, so getting ready, check. Now for some breakfast, forcing Spike to wake up, and then going out to see if anypony needs me today. And if not, back to studies.
Seems simple enough. Oh… and of course there’s trying to spend some time with Rainbow Dash. Wait, do I even have time for that?! No, I have to have made time for that! Okay, let me see, let me see… Phew, I have an hour before Pinkie drags me to Sugar Cube Corner to help with tasting some treats after I’m done visiting Applejack. So that’s a whole hour to spend with Rainbow. Then just taste the treats, thank them, come home and study. Easy enough, I suppose.
So, working my way down to the kitchen, I let my mind wander a bit to what had happened these past few months. To be honest I had never expected any of it to happen. It all occurred so quickly. But, I’m pretty glad it did happen. It was definitely a life changer, and I thought becoming a princess was crazy!
Alright, breakfast, what am I going to eat for breakfast? Let’s see here… some waffles, pancake batter… wait, why in Equestria do I have pancake mix and some waffles…? Oh well, better to not complain I guess. What else do I have? Oh, some oats! These’ll do! Now to just get a bowl and settle down and eat. Now where did I put the bowls? Knock knock knock And of course, somepony knocks on the door.
“I’m coming, I’m coming” Honestly, who’s here this early in the morning? Can’t I at least eat some breakfast first and-
“Hey Twi, what’s up?” And now breakfast doesn’t seem so important.
“Hi Rainbow, what are you doing here so early?” As if I didn’t have a hunch.
“Just to say hi to one of the best mares in the world” I saw her smirk and knew that I was blushing.
“Couldn’t wait until later today, huh? You know I’m busy Rainbow…” To be honest, I would have gladly pushed it all aside for her. But the sooner I get most of it done, the more time I can have with her without stressing over it. And I definitely don’t need another break down…
“I know, but I really wanted to see you and I thought that-” She never got to finish as I pressed my lips to hers, bringing her into a kiss. She obviously wasn’t expecting it by the look on her face. She looked cute with her eyes wide in surprise. However, she immediately pressed back, and I couldn’t have been happier. I loved moments like this with her. Just the two of us enjoying each other’s company, our lips pressed together in a loving kiss and nopony around to ruin the moment. I wish it could last forever.
I gently put my hooves on her shoulders for support, trying to deepen our already loving kiss. I felt her toned muscles, yet the softness of her fur and warmth she emitted. It was a wonderful feeling, and I wanted more of it. I slowly began closing the distance between us, slowly bringing her into an embrace, and she offered no resistance. We wrapped out hooves around each other and pressed our lips together as much as we could, not wanting the moment to end. But, of course we had to breathe, and with much dismay, I gently broke the kiss. I saw the small smile she gave me and I happily returned it.
“I love you Rainbow” I gently brought my head to her shoulder and nuzzled into it, getting comfortable. She giggled at this and held me close, leaning her mouth to my ear to whisper,
“I love you too Twilight” Those words made my whole body tingle. I nuzzled her a bit more and then brought my forehead to hers and pressed them together gently with a smile on my face.
“You know, Spike is still asleep” I saw the smirk she gave me and couldn’t help but giggle a little. Without a word she brought me into another a kiss, which I happily returned. Our lips were once again pressed together and our hooves held each of us close to each other. My hooves had a mind of their own as they felt their way through Rainbow’s soft, blue fur, gently caressing her back. She just help me tighter, making the kiss that much more special. I felt reality slip away and the only thing left was Rainbow Dash and I, right there. Nothing else mattered to me at the moment, not my studies, no my duties, not even that book that I have been dying to finish.
The only thing that mattered to me right now was Rainbow Dash, and the wonderful kiss we were having. When we finally broke it, both of us were panting a little and I could have sworn I saw some sweat on her brow. But her magenta eyes soon took my full attention. It was as if all the problems of the world just simply vanished whenever I looked at her. I just smiled and gave her a quick peck on the lips. And then I, regrettably, had to get back to my duties and responsibilities.
“Alright Rainbow, I really have to get ready for today” I heard her let out a slight sigh.
“Okay, if you have to…” I snuggled a little under her chin to try and cheer her up a bit.
“I made sure I have a whole hour to spend with you today.”
“I’d rather a whole day, Twi…”
“Soon Rainbow, I promise. After today I only have one more thing to take care of. Then we can go on that little trip I was talking about” I gave her a smile to reassure her. It seemed to work, for now at least. I hated having limited time with her. It had been like this for a while and I’ve had just about enough of it, and I could tell she had too. I couldn't wait until tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to finally be able to have all the time I wanted with her. I couldn't wait to finally tell everypony “I’m in love with Rainbow Dash.” I then, hesitantly, let my mind come back to reality.
“If you say so Twi” She nuzzled me quickly and gently let go of me, breaking our embrace. I think I cringed a little as she did so, her soft fur being torn from my grasp. “So I’ll see you later?”
“Definitely, I promise. Down by the river is where we’ll meet, okay?” I got a nod to confirm she heard me. She gave me a quick peck and then left, leaving me to get breakfast, wake up Spike and begin my day, waiting for when I could go meet her.
As I sat down at the table, slowly eating my oats, I let my mind and thoughts wander. I thought about how my life had changed since becoming a princess. I thought about everything my friends and I had been through. And I thought about all that I had learned throughout these great years of my life. I smiled to myself, remembering all the good times I've had, and all the fun and adventure along with it.
And my thoughts suddenly shifted to that fateful day. The day that I will never forget, and will always cherish forever. That day I had decided to let Rainbow Dash take me on a little trip to show me some amazing new place she had found. The day that started the craziest adventure I have ever had to date. And it was on that adventure that I realized that I loved Rainbow Dash, and that she loved me as well. And it all began with knocking at my door that fateful morning…
