Flowerheart locked up her shop for the night. She could hear the flowers wishing her a good night. She smiled to herself as she walked home. Her pale yellow coat shone in the moonlight and her brown mane and tail swayed in the breeze. As she approached her house, she used her magic to open the door. She greeted her flowers and went to get a sandwich. As she cut the tomato up she thought about her day. The exotic flowers she sold were earning her enough to go and visit her parents. She layed the tomato on the crisp lettuce and went to sit down. She bit into the sandwich, the tomato and lettuce swarmed her taste buds. After she had finished and cleaned up she went to bed. As she was falling asleep she thought about her modified talent. 

{begin flashback}

Flowerheart trotted down the grassy path. The filly was beaming, she had just earned her cutie mark. It turned out that her talent was looking after flowers. She slowed down to smell a lily when she felt hot breath on her back. She turned round and screamed. A great beast was looming over her. She screamed again and started galloping away. The beast started to follow her but stopped beside a cliff ledge. Flowerheart had fallen down, tumbling head over heels. She landed at the bottom in front of a lake. She gasped, it was the lake of dreams. Her mother had told her about it. If you drank from it, it would grant you one wish. Flowerheart leaned over and drank deeply. 

"I wish, I hope I pray...please let me hear the flowers"

She finished drinking and had sat down when a mare landed in front of her. 

"Princess Luna!"
"Yes my dear, lets get you home"
"ok" Flowerheart nodded. 

She climbed onto Luna's back and before she knew it, she was back home in bed.

{end flashback}

Flowerheart smiled, and went to sleep.





Shimmershy said goodbye to her last customer then swapped the sign on the shop door from open, to closed. She turned round and walked through a door into a stock room, full of animal food. She weighed out animal food for all seventy cages of animals. A bit of cat food got on her hoof and she flew over to the sink to wash it off. As she washed her hoof she looked at herself in the mirror. Her teal coat was contrasted perfectly by the pink mane that hung over her shoulder. She smiled and went back to feeding the animals. 

"Thanks you" they squeaked as the gobbled down their food. 
"You are welcome my dear animals" she said and trotted out the shop. She flew off into the night, thinking of how her talent became modified. She swooped down and with a flash of light, transformed into a little teal and pink humming bird. She flew through the trees to the place where the change had first taken place. 

{begin flashback}

Shimmer was eating a fairy cake while sitting in a meadow. This was her escape place. If she every wanted time to herself she would come her. She sat looking up at the sky when a blinding light flashed in front of her. It was just the reflection of the sun against her locket but it had a strange effect. Shimmer sat up again after falling in surprize, and continued her day dreaming. 

"I wish I could turn into a bird"

She thought to herself, when there was another blinding flash and there she was, a teal and pink humming bird.

{end flashback}

Shimmer smiled, and opened the door to her home. She went to her bedroom, and settled down in the cloud bed. The softness and warmth of the bed soon took over and she was fast asleep.





Strongshield smiled to himself as he trotted down the hall way towards his bed room. He looked in the mirror at his own reflection and grinned. His vibrant orange coat was brighter than ever and his deep blue mane and tail hung loosely at his side. He went over and lay down in his bed. His horn glowed with a white aura as he turned off his light. He lay down and concentrated on casting the spell that protected all of Equestria from invaders. As he finished the spell he recalled how he was able to pull off a spell that no pony else was able to, not even Starswirl was. 

{begin flashback}

A small foal lay in a hospitable bed. Sweat poured down his face, his chest was rising and falling rapidly. He could hear his mother and a doctor talking outside his hospital room. Suddenly three doctor ponies wheeled the bed the foal was in out of the room into a bigger room, a surgery area. That was all he could remember, then he blacked out.

{end flashback}

Strongsheild grimaced. When he was a foal he had to have key hole surgery on his heart to remove a blood clot. It was all going well when the doctors lost a piece of equipment and, in looking for it, knocked off his oxygen. He woke up, saw the hole, and his heart rate increased by a huge amount. When they settled him down and fixed everything,  they finished the surgery, unaware that the panic attack and sudden increase of heart beats had given him a sudden boost of adrenalin. Anyway, something had happened during the adrenalin rush that had increased his magic, and he could now perform the most advanced spells. Strongsheild smiled, and went to sleep





Songbird put her microphone away, put on her scarf, and started to trot home. Her white mane was plastered to her blue coat with apple cider. During her gig at the pub someone reacted.......well, lets just say she ended up getting cider over her. Once she got home she dived into the shower, and let the hot water soak into her fur, pulling out all the sticky cider. After she had dried herself, she lay down in bed and started to sing a lullaby. As she started to sing she began to feel sleepy, that was the effect of her talent. Ever since she was little she had been able to control ponies emotions through song. She had never questioned it, it was just like that. She smiled, curled up, and went to sleep


> The three thinkers

Braveheart closed the window and walked over to her bed. She put her bow and arrows beside her and started planning the assault course for the new rookies. She owned an assault course for ponies that wanted to be in Equestria's army. Braveheart had been in the army when she was younger, and had been asked to train the younger ponies. She went to look in the mirror. Her green coat was dusty and her black mane was styled as it usually was. The grey strip in her mane stood out against the white band she wore around her forehead. Over her left eye there was a long scar. Although she wasn't the sweetest of ponies, she wasn't ugly. Many of the young stallions that worked with her had been known to have a bit of a crush on her. She went over to her bed and lay down, and began to think about her talent. 

{begin flashback}

Braveheart trotted over to her teachers desk to receive her test results. It was the test the determined how smart you were. Every filly and colt had to take it so the could decide what future job would be best for them. Braveheart looked down at her paper. Her teachers red pen stood out against the charcoal she had used.100%. It was right there, in bright red.

{end flashback}

Bravehearts memory was faded a bit, but she did remember Princess Celestia taking under her wing and telling her that her talent was extraordinary, that no pony had ever been as able as she was to work out problems and solutions to issues so quickly. That was why she was the first mare to join the army.  Braveheart turned over and went to sleep





Darkwing studied the clouds in front of him, and in a flash, flew through the course. He landed on the finishing cloud, and checked his stopwatch. 4.3 seconds. His best time so far. As he flew home he could hear his giant wings beating.

{begin flashback}

A mare was pacing a hospital waiting room. She jumped round as a doctor came in the room, and gave her a bundle. It was her foal. His black coat looked like the night sky and his crimson mane was as bright as a rose. The doctor started to explain one well, big problem. As he was being born, the foals wings broke. The managed to mend them, but they were, well larger than normal. Darkwings mother was a Pegasus, but his father was an earth pony. There was a problem when he was still in his mothers womb, and his wings were much larger than a normal pegasus's. Darkwing was not a pony for the limelight, so when the Wonderbolts asked him to joint them, he declined. 

When he got home he opened his door and went to get a hot chocolate. When he made it he went and sat down. He sipped the warm, frothy and marshmallow filled drink. He heard a knock at the door and ponies whispering behind it. He went over to answer it, and screaming fillies ran into the room, just as he flew out. He flew away until he was at a cliff. He pushed at the wall and he flew through. This was his secret hideout in case people mares came looking. He was a cute stallion, and many mare chased him. He lay down on a make shift bed and went to sleep.





Brighteye focused on the hawk. He was hanging upside down from a tree looking at a mouse that was a mile away, and his friends hawk, a couple of miles in the other direction, was looking at it to. They were both in the middle of a forest. It was a race. His friend had dared him to race his hawk. Brighteye saw his friend by the mouse, he raised a flag. Brighteye watched the hawk, a bead of sweat rolling down his face. His friend lowered the flag, and Bright eye ran. He jumped over a log, dived over a hole and soon he was in the same clearing as the mouse. He dived for it, and his hoof touched it a moment before the hawk. 

Once he had said good bye to his friend, he started to walk home. He took a short cut through a river, the water splashing on his cream coat. His purple mane and tail fluttered slightly in the breeze. He smiled to himself as he saw his house, on top of the hill. Once he was inside he sat down to look at his computer. It would have been rare a couple of years ago to have a computer, bit now, well it was normal. He logged onto Ehay to see how well his books were selling. Somepony had bought all six of them for fifty bits. He looked at the money he had received in surprize, he knew the books were rare, but that rare. Wow. He logged onto his email. A letter from the optitions. He got them every week, checking if his eye sight was ok.

{begin flashback}

The doctor was talking to his mum. Brighteye had been attacked by a hawk, and had surgery on his eyes. The hawk had scratched them both, and he had almost lost them. When he woke up he was amazed. He could see dust in the carpet, every hair on his foreleg. It turned out that the doctors had to give him an eye transplant. Nopony had eyes that they could donate, so they had to swap with the hawk that he had fought. The doctors modified them so they looked like pony eyes. His talent was observation so the hawk eyes, well they just helped with that.

Brighteye looked out of his window at Canterlot castle. Luna appered in his sight,

"go to sleep" she mouthed

Brighteye nodded, closed his eyes, and feel into sleep
> The start of doom

In the Canterlot Castle throne room, Princess Celestia sat on her throne, her head bowed, and tears rolling down her pale cheek. Her sister, Princess Luna sat beside her, trying to comfort her. The princesses had just received the news that their beloved niece, Princess Cadence, had gone missing. Luna, like her sister, was devastated, but Celestia received another piece of more depressing news, when she found out that her student, Princess Twilight, had gone missing along with Cadence. Luna looked at her sister, she had never looked so upset

"Sister, are you ok?" she asked
"Yes Luna, I will be fine" Celestia whispered "Im going to goo to my room"
"I shall bring you some food"
"Thanks you, Luna"





Deep in the Canterlot castle dungeons, two alicorns were chained to the wall. One was pink, her tricoloured hair messy and dishevelled. She looked exhausted, her coat damp with sweat and tears. Beside her, a smaller alicorn was chained. Her purple coat was dusty and her purple and pink striped mane was knotted and frizzy. She looked over at the other alicorn, Princess Cadence. Both their horns had been sawed off, and their wings had been broken. 

"Cadence" the purple alicorn sobbed "What are we going to do!"
"I don't know Twilight" cadence replied " we can only hope that Celestia and Luna come to get us out, And I kno-"

She was cut off a there was a scream from in the castle. Twilight began to cry harder, but no tears came out, no noise. Cadence watched the mare she had foal sat, and also began to cry.





Back in the Castle kitchen, Luna heard the scream from her sisters bed chambers. She dropped the bowl of salad she was holding, and galloped to her sister. When she got there, she bucked down the door and galloped through the planks of wood. She looked round the room in panic. Her sister wasn't there, the only thing that belonged to Celestia, was the pool of blood, and her crown, necklace and shoes. Luna started to panic. 

"Sister? CELESTIA!" she screamed. 
"Oh my dear niece Luna, your sister isn't here, she had to take a little trip" 

Luna whipped round. An alicorn stallion stood over her. His white coat glistened, and his blue, green and purple mane hung over his shoulder. 

"Uncle Seastorm" Luna said, narrowing her eyes. 

Her uncle was banished from Equestria after trying to assassinate her father to gain power. 

"Oh no Luna dear, Its King Crimson moon now"

He laughed as his coat turned to a pale grey, and his mane and tail turned to a blood red crimson. Luna gaped at her uncle as her transformed. 

"what do you want Uncle" she asked in a hushed voice
"I want Equestria, and that's what im getting, as soon as I get rid of you!" He said, and fired a red beam from his horn. Luna cast a counter spell, and a blue beam shot from hers. She smiled as she over powered her Uncle. 

"I don't know what you are looking so happy about" he smirked "You are going on a little holiday to, just like your sister" 

He over powered Luna, and she vanished in a puff of smoke. He grinned to himself as he left the room. Once he found the head of guards, he told him to go and get the news team, for he had important information. The guard looked confused, but went to find them anyway





The ponies of Equestria trotted to their TV sets to turn on the news, and were shocked to see an alicorn stallion standing in front of the camera. They all settled to listen to the speech he was giving.

"I went to visit my nieces when I found they were missing. I am truly devastated, for they were the ponies I loved the most. Until they come back, I shall look after Equestria. I feel it is my duty to my brother to take care of his kingdom. But I have to make a few changes. OK, here we go. Number one. All adults must have a job. 
Number two. You all must pay tax. Number three. I DONT CARE IF YOU ARE ALL STARVING. IF YOU DONT HAVE MONEY TO BUY FOOD, TO BAD. im sorry, anyway. Half of you don't have jobs, yew you have money. Oh, one more thing. If anypony, I repeat ANYPONY is found stealing, borrowing money to buy food, talking about me, then you shall all be thrown in the dungeon. Thanks for your time"

The ponies of Equestria stared at each other in horror. Their princesses had gone, and this monster was taking over. Little did they know, but this was the start of a horrible time for Equestria.
> The outcasts

Prince Crimson Moon sat on his throne and smirked at the mare, in chains before him. Her green coat was dusty and her black and grey striped mane was dishevelled, the white band round her forehead stained. She glared up at him through red eyes. The gaurds shoved her towards the throne. 

"Well well, what do we have here?" Crimson Moon asked
"She was caught giving extra training to the army" the first guard stated
"She also gave the orphans some food" the second pointed out.
"Well, we cant have that, can we?" Crimson Moon smirked, again "What do you have to say for yourself?"

Braveheart looked at him, her head held high.
"You can do whatever you want to me" she said narrowing her eyes "I will fight for what is right, and you sir, are not right"

Crimson Moon glared at her. Nopony spoke to him that way, NOPONY! He thought about what to do. Dungeons, no, to normal. Not community service, not duties round about the castle. That left..... He smiled, and turned to the guards.

"Throw her out of Equestria. Into the desert. Nopony must find her"
"Yes sir" The guards dragged Braveheart out, put her in a blacked out carriage, and started removing her from Equestria. 

As Braveheart sat in the carriage, she checked of a mental checklist. Once she had remembered her survival skills, she slept, and waited for the carriage to land. As she got out, she grabbed a knife, a rope and a bottle from the top of the carriage. Before that guards could see what she had stolen, she galloped away, into the desert.





Shimmershy flew over to Flowerheart. It was time for their get together in the park. Shimmer landed and started to walk down the path then a hoof covered her mouth and pulled her into a bush. Whipping round, Shimmershy looked at the attacker.
"Flower-" she tried to speak, but Flowerheart put her hoof in Shimmer's mouth.
"Shut up" flower whispered
"what is going on?!" shimmer asked, whisper-screaming
"we are getting out of Equestria. there is no way that I am staying here" Flowerheart explained. 
"but...we need to get stuff" shimmershy pointed out

Flower moved aside to show Shimmer two bags containing water, food, a tent and other things that they would need. Flower pulled Shimmer towards a train, leading towards Las Pegasus, the border of Equestria. After a short train ride, the two rebels trotted towards the border of Equestria. Just as they were about to leave, two guards stepped in front of them both. 

"Where do you think you two are going?" One guard asked
"We were just about to go outside Equestria as a project" Flowerheart said sweetly
"Im afraid we cant let you out ma'm" The other guard said
"Well, let me change your mind" Flowerheart said, and whispered to a nearby tree.

It suddenly grew vines, wrapped up the guard and lifted him high into the air. Flowerheart galloped past the other baffled guard, while a teal and pink humming bird followed close behind. Soon, they to were far away from their home land. Just as they slowed down, they heard a voice calling.

"Shimmer! Flower! wait up!"
"Songbird? What are you doing out here!" Flowerheart asked
"I followed you two, I don't want to call Equestria my home now. It has collapsed, and I really need new sights" Songbird explained.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Lets go!"

The three mares started walking into the desert, and into an epic adventure.







Three stallions, one Pegasus, one unicorn and one earth pony, trotted down the street, laughing. They reached the corner shop they were looking for, and went inside. 

"Hey Darkwing, how many food tickets do you have?"

Crimson Moon had made it law that every month, everypony would get food tickets. It had to last them the whole month. If they ran out, they would have to starve. 

"I have ten, how about you two" Darkwing called
"fifteen" Strongshield replied
"nine" Brighteye chimed in
"ok so that's twenty four, so we can get three carrots two apples, one asparagus, three rolls and one cupcake"

Once the stallions had their food, they left the shop. As they were trotting back to Brighteye's house, a royal guard landed in front of them. He grabbed the bag of food from Darkwing and looked at the contents. 

"How did you get this much food" he asked, narrowing his eyes
"We put out food tokens together to buy it" Strongshield explained
"You aren't aloud to do that, its against the law" the guard said
"How! since when!" Darkwing asked, shocked
"Since about two hours ago" The guard answered "now, you three have to be arrested"
"I don't think so" Darkwing smirked, grabbed his friends hooves, and flew away.

The guard took flight as well and gave chase. Darkwing flew faster and faster even though he had his friends extra weight. The guard's eyes widened as he watched the trio gather more speed than any pony before. Soon they were out of his line of sight, in fact, they had crossed the border of Equestria. He gave up the chase, and went back to the castle. The boys grinned.

"We made it, he gave up!" Brighteyes said
"Um, I hate to be a let down, but...we have left Equestria altogether" Darkwing said, still flying
"Look! down there" Strongshield yelped "Brighteye, what is it?"
"Its three mares!" Brighteye said, shocked 

They landed, and galloped to catch up with the mares.
