> Legion > by TheRocketMan062 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Reveal... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a beautiful day. The sun was hanging unopposed in the sky, spreading it's warmth across the lands. Celestia wanted to be happy. But the knowledge that many innocent ponies would die today made it impossible. The fact that she had to ride in a heavily armored carriage dampened her mood even more. The Guards insisted that terrorist snipers were incredibly accurate with ranged spells, thus providing ample reason to have a completely covered and thickly armored carriage ready for The Princess to use. She hated it. It was stuffy. She also hated the fact that despite her and her guards best efforts, the terrorists remained at large, slaughtering ponies upon whim. And they have given no reason why they attack innocent's. The Royal and Lunar guards were on their last legs. They used to be over 10,000 strong. Only 1,500 remained. Celestia sighed, and idly fiddled with her flowing mane. Her thoughts turned to her beloved sister Luna. She had hardly seen her for the past several months. Whenever she did see her, she would be rushing about, abacus held closely to her chest, rambling about various topics under her breath. She looked more worse for the ware last time Celestia had seen her, which had been earlier that morning. She looked awful, but elated none the less. She had asked, no, demanded that Celestia come to the bottom of Canterlot mountain, and to not question why. Celestia agreed. It would have taken her mere minutes to reach the bottom of the mountain by flight. Unfortunately for her, the guard had caught wind of her planned travel. So now here she was, 3 hours later and moving at a snails pace. "This had better be good Luna." Celestia muttered. An hour and a half later, Celestia hopped out of the carriage and stretched her cramped limbs. "We will wait for you here you're Majesty." the carriage driver assured her. "Wonderful." Celestia groaned. There was no way in hell she was riding that carriage back up the mountain. "Sister! Over here!" Celestia turned and saw Luna waving to her excitedly from an opening in the mountain side. "This had better be good Lulu, or I'll have my revenge." Celestia said playfully, grinning as walked up and nuzzled her smaller sister affectionately. "Trust me Tia, it will be!" You may hate me after I show you, but It's for the greater good. I failed my Ponies once. I wont fail them again.Luna thought. Minutes later, the royal sister's were riding in an elevator that took them deeper and deeper under the mountain. Celestia eyed her little sister wearily. Her fur and mane were disheveled, and she looked as if she had not slept for days. "Luna, what is this project, and why are you losing sleep over it?" Luna did not look at her sister. "It's for the good of our ponies Tia. That's all I can tell you right now." The elevator doors slid open, and the two Alicorns stepped out. "Here's a fun fact sister, we are currently 3 miles under the earths surface!" Celestia didnt show it, but she was impressed. Then she paused. When did her sister build a facility 3 miles under the surface? And how? When Celestia asked her sister, Luna said "All questions will be answered soon enough Tia." Luna refused to say more. After a few minutes of walking, Celestia was getting more worried. She had seen no other ponies yet. The walked up to a door, and Luna put her hoof on some sort of scanner, causing the door to open a moment later. The door's opened up into a large amphitheater. It wasn't the sheer size of the room that made Celestia's jaw drop. It was what was inside that made her heart skip a beat. > Reveal part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Standing in perfect formation were several dozen gleaming suits of unusual full body armor. All of them stood at either head level, or taller than Celestia. Celestia was about to ask what this was... When one of the suits interrupted her. "ATTENTION! ROYALTY ON THE DECK!" Every suit saluted in perfect sync. Celestia was dumbfounded. One of the armored ponies stepped out of line and stood at attention in front of Luna. "Ma'am, Legion company is ready for the demonstration." The pony's armor had two white stripes running down the helmet, and part of the chest. Celestia assumed that was a mark of leadership. Luna nodded. "My sister and I will be observing you from here. Make me proud." The leader nodded and turned to his troops. He didn't say a word, but he instead walked up and down the line. "Private Comm channel." Luna said to Celestia. "Who are they Luna? What kind of armor is that? and what is a comm channel...?" Luna averted her gaze. "They are to protect what is left of our way of life. They are my knights in shining armor. They are my Spartan's." Sierra 096 walked up and down the line of super-soldiers before him, looking at each one of them, gazing in to the polarized glass that hid their faces, and nodded in satisfaction. "You know our mission Spartans. Today is ,in essence, graduation day. This test is not only important for us, but for Princess Luna as well. I want you all at you're best. squad leader's, you know you're assignments. Lets go." The 32 warriors before him saluted once more, and moved to their positions. One of them, a mare, moved to his side and opened a private channel to him. "This will be a walk in ze park, non?" She said in a distinct Prench accent. "Yes, but don't get cocky dusty." "Have I ever let you down?" "No, but lets not start today Lieutenant." The mare giggled, and closed the channel. 096 could see the Spartan Pegasi flitting about above him, almost all of them were sporting SRS99C-S2 AM sniper rifles. Unicorns, like himself, wielded weapons like the MA5B assault rifle, and the BR55 battle rifle. The earth ponies in the company wielded the big guns, like the M90 tactical pump action shotgun and the M41 Surface-to-Surface Rocket Medium Anti-Vehicle/Assault Weapon, Rocket launcher for short. All in all, these 32 ponies had enough firepower to knock Canterlot off the mountain, then blast it's remains into ashes. After a few moments, Legion company was ready. A moment later, a set of massive double door's swung upon. The air was still. There was no sound. And then a faint rumbling could be heard. After a few seconds, the rumbling grew louder. and louder, and louder. Then a massive hoard of Manticore's, Timber-Wolves, Cockatrices, several hydra's and even a pair of dragons stormed into the arena, howling, and baying for the Spartans blood. The Spartans didn't flinch. They instead ran (And flew into) the approaching hoard. All hell broke loose. > Forged in fire... > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The opposing sides charged at each other. After a moment, any of the wildlife that had ranged ability's opened fire... Only to see their magic projectiles splash harmlessly against the Spartans energy shields. A moment later, the Spartans opened fire, and the opposing sides collided in a hailstorm of projectiles, claws and blades. Celestia screwed her eyes shut. she didn't want so see more ponies die. "What is this Luna!?" She hissed. "This is an example of my Spartans capability's." "AT WHAT!? DYING!" Then, the air was filled with the sound of dozens of assault weapons firing at once, and massive BOOMS forced Celestia to flatten her ears against her skull. she felt a tap at her shoulder, and Celestia opened her eyes. Luna too had flattened her ears. she gestured towards the battle, Celestia took a deep breath and forced herself to look. Not a single pony had fallen. The monsters where being annihilated with ease, even the mighty dragons where fairing badly. The sound of the Spartans weapon fire was deafening, and Celestia watched in awe as line after line of monsters were cut down by the Spartans strange weapons. Some of the monsters thought that they could take the soldiers at close range. they were wrong, the Spartans that were engaged in C.Q.C were blurs, their blades flashing in the light just before they sunk into their targets. Limbs came off and crimson blood flowed like a river. Some of the Spartans strange weapons would simply blow a monster apart in a single shot. Celestia's eyes watered when a incredibly bright ruby red beam of energy cut across the arena, And literally vaporized a dragons head. Celestia followed the beam back to it's owner, and spotted a Pegasus hovering in place, hefting an odd looking weapon on her shoulder. A small laser light clicked on, and the weapons barrel glowed as it built up another charge. A second later, the weapon discharged once again and atomized a pack of timber-wolves and gave a chimera 3rd degree burns all over the left side of it's body. It was put out of it's misery by a Spartan wielding one of the strange pump guns. The remaining dragon bellowed in rage at it's partners demise, and spewed fire over a group of Spartans. The odd shields that surrounded the Spartans suits snapped on, and dispersed the heat. One of them staggered as his shields broke. His armor did not melt as Celestia expected, it instead blackened slightly and dispersed the flames just as well as his shields did. The Spartan pointed his hoof at the Dragon, which tilted it's head in confusion. Then bellowed in pain as it's left eye exploded. The Pegasi sniper's fired in volley's, some aiming at the dragons joints, other's attempting to shoot it in the heart. The Dragons thick, spell resistant armored scales did nothing to stop the anti-material rounds. A moment later, the dragon was dead. All was silent once more. A thick smoke covered the battlefield, preventing Celestia from seeing anything. She found herself holding her breath. Then the smoke dispersed as the overhead fans kicked on. All 32 Spartans stood, no worse for the wear, there emerald colored armor splashed with blood and on occasion, entrails. Celestia coughed, and dry heaved. This was one of the worst displays of violence she had ever seen. These soldiers were merciless, that fact being proven as she watched a Spartan curb stomp a wounded Cockatrice. She heaved again. The remains of the Royal Guard would have been decimated. Celestia doubted that she could have fought all of those monsters and survived. The smell was horrendous, and below the raised platform she stood upon, the blood flowed like a river. Some Spartans were up to their shins in blood. She heaved again, and tears spilled out of her eyes. And yet, as she righted herself... She found herself smiling. These soldiers annihilated an army of monsters easily a thousand strong and suffered no causality's at all. The smile grew. The killers that tortured her precious little pony's day in day out would feel the wrath of the Royal Sisters. She flinched with every bang. Every bang represented a Spartan finishing off a monster. She would fight fire with fire. BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG. The destruction of the terrorist cells and the cultists was the will of the demi-godess sister's... and these Spartans were their instruments. Two of the Spartans approached the Sister's. The one with white stripes on his armor walked up to Luna. The mare walked up to Celestia. Celestia heard a click, and assumed she was activating her helmets speakers. "Zat was satisfactory, non? zose creature's were amateur's." Celestia patted the mare on the soldier, and smiled. The mare took that as a yes, and saluted the princess. The other Spartan turned away from Luna. He tapped the spot on his helmet where his mouth would be twice. The mare returned the gesture. "They're happy." Luna said. Celestia just wrapped her wing around her sister in an embrace. "You have a lot of explaining to do sister, But...I will use you're soldiers." "It will be a long explanation sister...and thank you." "I want to hear it and don't thank me yet." The sisters walked back to the doors and stepped out. Behind them, Spartans armed with Flamethrowers were cremating the remains of the monsters. It was just another day for them. But they were looking forward to being unleashed upon the Princesses foes. Hundreds of miles away, the leader of the insurrectionists and cultists felt his a pit grow in his gut, and found himself worrying about somthing, but he didnt know what. He would soon find out.
