> The Legend of the Human > by MrEruaphadion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A Noble Party > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome readers to my first ever tale! I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I've enjoyed creating it, just sit back and relax as I tell you The Legend of the Human. Argus always loved the night sky, something about it always seemed beautiful and mysterious to him. As he stood on the balcony lost in thought he let his gaze drift to the north, to the Cursed Mountains. Of course Argus knew they weren't really cursed but there is still evil in those mountains, it is were the necromancers live and practice their dark magic. The very thought of them made Argus' blood boil with anger. They had been launching raiding parties against the city for weeks. Attacking in the dead of night, taking people from their homes never to be seen again. Now usually something would be done about them but since they are only targeting the poor district the nobles voted against fighting them. The people in the poor district are useless to them anyway, besides they wouldn't be missed anyway. Thieves and cut-purses, the lot of them. Fed up with the nobles he joined The Order so that he could fight the necromancers and save those he could. His father disapproved of course, you see when one joins The Order they give up everything and that includes titles. "I guess father will have to find a new heir to the throne" Argus said out loud to nobody in particular. "Yes he will" came a voice from behind him. Caught of guard he instinctively grabbed one of his blades, spun around and put the blade up to the neck of however startled him. What he saw was the face of his mentor staring back at him. "A little on edge are we?" he said, a slightly amused expression on his face. "You really shouldn't sneak up on people like that" Argus put his blade back on his back and leaned against the balcony railing. The sound of laughter came from inside. Argus looked behind his mentor and saw food being served on the huge table and the nobles taking their seats. " Look at them. All of them. Laughing joking, having fun. You'd imagine we weren't getting attacked on a near nightly basis. Ugh we should be out there in the streets watching for signs of trouble but instead we are playing security at a damn party!" His mentor then turned to look into the main room. "Ha well you know the nobles they can't eat in peace unless they know they are protected" "Ha ha ya I guess that's true". The nobles started to clap signalling that the king was about to give a speech. "Well time to listen to listen to your father talk Argus." He then walked into the main room. "Oh this will be entertaing" Said Argus sarcastically as he followed closely behind his mentor. Meanwhile the necromancers were getting ready for another attack.... > Attack > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Argus and his mentor took their seats at the table as the king got up from his throne. "Ladies and gentlemen I would like to start by thanking you for com-". He never got any further. The large stain glass window behind him shattered and through it came something Argus hoped he did not ever have to fight. A skeletal dragon. It was very tall, at least double the height of the average man. It stood completely still for a moment, until it saw the two Order members trying to sneak up on it. It unfurled it's massive wings and let out a deafening rawer. One strong enough that it sent the two men flying back. It turned to look at the king the green flames inside it's eye sockets getting more intense as he moved in on his target. "No!" Argus yelled as he sent some magical energy towards the Dragon, but it was too little too late. When the light blue beam hit the dragon it simply ignored it. The king pulled out his sword and took on a defensive stance, but he was extremely out matched. The dragon lifted it's foot and put it down on the king, crushing his chest beneath it's weight. "Father!". Argus watched as the king took his last painful breath. Argus has never cried in his life but he came damn close that night. Suddenly a loud bang came from behind him. He spun around quickly and saw that the large double doors had been blown open and skeletal warriors had begun pouring in. These were just like the raiding parties. Skeletons in gold plated armor using a curved steel blade as a weapon and like the dragon these guys have green flames were their eyes would be. The nobles started to panic as the skeletons cut down everyone in their path. Castle guards and Order members rush the attackers, dividing themselves up between the dragon and skeletons.Argus decided to head for the dragon after all he has unfinished business with it now.He took a couple of steps towards it but was stopped by his mentor. "No. Now is not the time". "What do you mean? That thing killed my father!" Argus was furious he was being denied his chance at revenge. "There will be a a time for you to fight it but now is not that time. Please take this portal away from hear". A light blue portal opened behind Argus. He considered his options. Usually he follows orders without question but there is a first time for everything right? "No! I want that dragon dead and I want it dead now!" His mentors lets out a sigh. "I'm sorry friend". "For what?" "This". Argus then felt his mentor push him into the portal. The next thing he knew he was standing outside. At the entrance to a village by the looks of it, but something seemed of. This world was different. Brighter. He then heard a voice come from behind him. "Hi! Your not from around here are you?" Argus turned and what he saw shocked him. It was a grey, wall eyed pegasus with a yellow mane and tail staring back up at him. > A whole new world (not an Aladdin reference....) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A pegasus? I thought pegasi were extinct". The grey pegasus tilted it's head a little and raised an eybrow in confusion. "Extinct? Why would we be extinct? There are plenty of us in Equestria". "Because of the war with-" Suddenly a realization hit Argus. "Wait did you say Equestria?" The pegasus nodded its head. "But there is no place called Equestria where I am from. So that must mean Platus pushed me into a trans-dimensional portal. But why?" "I don't know but I know somepony who might be able to help. Her name is Princess Twilight and she is very smart". "Great more nobility" thought Argus. "Sure lead the way". The pegasis started walking in the direction of the village and Argus walked along side her (he assumed it was female judging by the voice). "By the way I never learned your name" "My name is Ditzy Doo but my friends call me Derpy" she said while smiling at who she hoped is a new friend. "Well hello Derpy my name is Argus. Nice to meet you" "Nice to meet you to new friend" After this they both fell silent while pondering the events prior to their meeting. Eventually they reached the village. Argus was very surprised to learn not only was this world imhabbited by pegasi it is also home to ponies and unicorns (the former also being extinct in his world). Another thing he noticed was how the inhabitants acted towards him. Anybody that saw him coming would get out of the way as soon as possible and avoid looking at him for to long. He figured it was a normal reaction after all not only have they most likely never seen his kind before but he probably looks a little intimidating to them. After all he is much bigger then them and he is carrying two sharp weapons on his back. Derpy spoke up, inturpting his train of thought. "We're here!" she said enthusiastically. They had stopped outside a large tree that had a door, some windows and even a balcony on it. Derpy gently knocked on the door and stood there waiting patiently for an answer. It finally opened revieling a lavender pony with both a horn and wings standing in the door frame. "Ah Derpy are you here to deliver those books I ordered?" "Sorry Twilight they're still not here yet. I actually wanted you to meet a new friend I found just outside town" Derpy stepped aside to allow Twilight to get a better view of this new pony. She gasped a little in surprise before regaining her composure. "I'm sorry where are my manners. My name is Twilight Sparkle. May I ask who and what you are?" Argus assumed the same rules about talking to royalty back applied in Equestria too so he got on one knee, rested and arm on his front knee and lowered his head slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you m'lady. I am Arugus, a human from a world called Earth". Twilight blushed fiercly. "Please there is no need to bow and please call me Twilight" Argus got up, glad that he made a good first impression. "So tell me Argus how did you end up here?" It was then that Derpy decided to speak up again. "I saw him come out of something he called a trans dimensional portal" Twilight's eyes widened. "What?! Trans dimensional travel is impossible!" "Actually Twilight under the right circumstances it is very possible" "Hm that is very interesting. Why don't you come in and talk about it? And of course you can come in too Derpy" "Well I have nothing better to do right now so why not?" Twilight smiled, feeling happy that she might actually get to learn something new. "Well it's settled then. Come in" They all went inside, the two ponied were excited to listen to some stories from the human, Argus however was anxious to get back home, and to get some revenge.......
