> Vinyl met him by Chance > by Fuckboi > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: Another long night > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a long night of partying, drinking and DJ’ing (if that’s even a word) and Vinyl slowly slumped back to her apartment. Yet again she had wasted every penny she earned on drinks at the club she had just worked at. Fortunately for her this nice colt offered to help her home. Now he’s practically carrying her and is probably thinking he’s going to get in bed with her real easy. She can hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes. “So you gonna lean on me all night or are you gonna go in” She hadn’t even realized they were at her door. All she can think about though is the rent. She just can’t get off her mind the fact that she’s flat broke and has 3 months of rent due. On top of that She can’t believe she’s even caring enough to have that on her mind when she’s completely wasted. Then she looks over at the almost golden colt walking her home with a chocolate brown mane and three horseshoes for a cutie mark. Her thoughts drift to his strong shoulders and soft warm coat. His dreamy brown eyes and his firm lips on his smirk smile… “I feel like a slut. Every time I come home drunk I wake up with a headache and a dude in my bed.” Vinyl looks in the mirror of her bathroom just outside the bedroom. She starts combing her hair but then ruffles it up afterwards looking almost exactly as she started. She grabs a jar of masquer and starts applying it to her eyes. She looks back to see the Stallion still asleep last nights sex and drinks sapping him of any will to wake up. “At least this time it was only one” she thinks quietly to herself. She's gotten used to finding quite a few ponies, on one particular occasion she recalls there were 3 other guys all in the bed when she got up. Then another thought comes to mind, Peanut Butter. SHE NEEDS peanut butter. Her mind becomes engulfed in the thought of the creamy goodness of the peanut butter sticking to her mouth. At about that time she decides right after she eats something and her headache clears up she’s kicking this guy out. She tiptoes into the kitchen and opens the pantry. The jar of peanut butter glows blue as she levitates it to the table while getting a spoon out of one of her drawers. She sits down and opens the jar. Or at least she tries to. “Damn this thing always gets stuck! What the buck is up with these things they could make them easier to open!” her angry voice carries to the bedroom waking up the pony in the bed, she doesn’t realize how loud she had been until she hears a voice behind her. “Need help with that?” His masculine voice sounds like he could make a colt grow a moustache just listening to him. He yawns and stretches before he walks over to her smiling sheepishly at Vinyl who stares at him stupidly. “Ya… um sure… I guess…” She has trouble forming words staring at him as he walks over and uncaps the jar with ease. For the first time a pony looks even better when she's sober than when she was drunk. Also his demeanor stirs a feeling she just can't put her hoof on. Subconsciously however she craves to be closer to him and her head leans in towards him. The pony picks up the jar of peanut butter and with a simple twist of the cap it pops open, “There that wasn’t so hard was it?” he chuckles at her and she blushes. “Where do I get a spoon?” he asks already walking over to the drawers. Vinyl has already taken a scoop of the creamy spread and is in mid bite as peanut butter fills her mouth “Te tird one on te reft.” “Turd on the ref?” He laughs at her as he grabs a spoon out of the designated drawer and walks back. “So… um... thanks for letting me stay over this is pretty far from my place so I really appreciate the stay.” “Ya I’m sure and the sex sure sweetened the deal too didn’t it?” She snorts at him. Her eyes roll and she realizes that he's just like the next guy. This kindness thing was probably just an act to get another shot at her... Her thoughts are interrupted by his response. He has a sense of shock in his voice but at the same time an underlying touch of amusement. “Sex what sex? My mother taught me better than to take advantage of a fine lady such as yourself. I offered to sleep on the couch but it was you who wouldn’t let me anywhere but the bed.” He blushes “I literally had to force you off of me once or twice." Vinyl loses focus on the spoon and it clatters to the floor. “You mean… we didn’t... ” “No of course not despite what you may have wanted at the time” he chuckles at her and her whole face turns a bright red. “Oh… um… sorry about that I get a bit… frisky… when I drink” Vinyl shrugs sheepishly and tries to laugh it off. This only amuses the pony she is looking at. “I can see that,” He chuckles at her “you were the DJ from last night right? DJ-Pon3 was it?” “Ya, well Dj-Pon3 is just my stage name my real name’s Vinyl Scratch, and you are?” “Chance, well Chance-a-lot, but most people just call me Chance.” He answers with an almost shy demeanor, which does not fit his build at all. An almost comical image of him his strong shoulders rolled forward and his head turned. Vinyl cannot resist the urge to laugh “Chance huh?” she chuckles again making him even more shy “Chance is a cute name” She smiles flirtingly at him making him blush. “Well um Vinyl… do you want to go out for some lunch?” he asks nodding at the clock. She looks over and her face turns from laughter to shock as she realizes the clock is almost 12 o'clock, she’s been talking to him for the last two hours. ‘How could it be it felt like five minutes but it has been two hours’ she thinks to herself. Her lack of an answer results in a worried look on Chance’s face and she realizes she completely forgot to answer the pony. “Sounds great, let’s go!” she smiles and they head out the door. > Chapter 2: A nice lunch > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vinyl walked with Chance over to Sugar Cube Corner. She snuggled up against him, a little forward but Chance did not protest. As they walked they received a couple of glances from passerby’s and one or two comments about the “new couple”. Rosebud even tried to get Chance to by Vinyl a flower however they just walked by without any real attention given to the onlookers. Vinyl kept her eyes firmly on Chance’s and Chance kept his on the road ahead of him. To Vinyl the only thing she noticed was his warm coat and his strong heart. As they approached Sugar Cube Corner, her concentration was broken by the smell of freshly baked cupcakes permeating the block. “Mmmm smells like somepony’s cooking a fresh batch.” It was the first word spoken since they left Vinyl’s apartment. Chance looked at Vinyl and flashed a cheeky smile. “Ya nothing beats Pinkie’s cooking especially when it’s fresh” Vinyl answered cozily still snuggling her nose attempting to burrow a tunnel in his shoulder. “Pinkie?” Chance stops pondering where the name came from. “Yea Pinkie Pie she’s the mare who works the bakery when Mr. & Mrs. Cake are busy. She’s also quite the party animal” She winks at him. “She certainly sounds like an interesting Pony,” he opens the door for Vinyl and bows regally “after you.” He finishes with a smile and they walk into the diner. They take a seat and Chance orders milkshakes for both of them when Mrs. Cake comes around. When she comes back Vinyl notices a quick exchange of winks between her and Chance. Vinyl doesn’t pay much mind to it as she sips slowly on her thick milkshake the cold ice cream is very rich and chocolate but not to thick to drink and not to cold to give her a brain freeze. It’s “Perfect” she whispers out loud unintentionally as she watches Chance drink his milkshake. “Did you say something?” He looks up his lips parting with his straw if only temporarily to pose his question before returning to his milkshake. “Nothing this it’s just, this is all perfect, like out of a dream or something.” Vinyl answers with a smile. “I certainly hope I’m not that scary that I give you nightmares.” Chance laughs and Vinyl blushes a little. “Well I don’t think any dream with you would qualify as a nightmare.” She says leaning across the table to be closer to him. “You know you’re a pretty nice colt.” Vinyl stares at him lost in his eyes as he continues to drink his milkshake, which is now almost empty. The straw slurps loudly as he finishes the last of it and then looks back at her. “Thanks you’re a nice mare yourself.” The corner of his lip rises slightly. She scootches towards him a bit more closely her muzzle moving into kiss him, her eyes close. “May I take your order sir?” Mrs. Cake says as she walks over to them. “Umm… yea sure I’d like a sandwich and a side of hay fries.” Chance answers before returning his gaze to Vinyl, which makes her cheeks turn a bright strawberry red. “And you miss? What would you like for today?” “Same.” She says her eyes never drifting from Chance’s. “It’ll be out in a minute” Mrs. Cake walks to the back room. “So, you know I’m a DJ but what exactly do you do for a living?” Vinyl says breaking the momentary silence. “I guess you could say I’m freelance, ever since I lost my job working for Celestia I…” “Wait you what! YOU… YOU WORKED FOR CELESTIA!?” Vinyl cut him off, her yelling gathering much attention from the surrounding ponies. “Hey it’s not that big a deal, I mean serve in her private guard for a while but then a ponies gotta move on.” He smiles knowing that this will provoke a reaction. “Working for Celestia isn’t a small deal you know!” Vinyl says loudly but somewhat more contained than her previous outburst. She tries to read his face and see if he’s poking fun but from the way he acted when he said it she knew it was true. “Yea, well the good days have passed” Chance reminisces. “I don’t know, it feels to me like its getting better by the minute.” Vinyl says and she kisses the colt. They draw the attention of on lookers but they ignore them, lost in the moment. When the kiss breaks off Chance leans back in his chair and smiles at Vinyl who is still half way across the table. “Here’s your food you two,” She smiles at them “Now I’ll leave you two in peace I hope you enjoy.” They ate their food, talking about life and joking around. Vinyl found herself enjoying the meal more and more every time Chance said something to her. “So Chance do you have a place to stay while you’re in Ponyville?” Vinyl blushed. “No but I’m sure I can find a nearby hotel or something.” “Well you could always stay at my place.” Her face was as red as a ripe apple during apple bucking season. “I mean if you want…” why am I acting so weird, so nervous around him. She entertained the thought briefly. “Yeah that’d be nice” Chance smiled with a slight, laugh at her blush. “Well we should probably get going then.” She smiled as she started to put some bits on the table. “No let me get this.” Chance waves over Mrs. Cake and pays her. He then faces Vinyl and flashes a grin “Lead the way.” > Chapter 3: Surprise, Surprise! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~2 weeks later~ “Ch-ch-CHANCE!” Vinyls voice squeaked out. She was in the bathroom, the smell of Chance’s cooking wafting into the room. “CHANCE NOW!” she was worried and anxious all clearly audible in her tone. “What’s the pro-“ Chance says as he walks into the bathroom. It’s then that he spies the vomit in the toilet with Vinyl hunched over it. “Oh my god you’re sick, do you need me to get you anything, tissues, a toothbrush…” Chance continues as Vinyl tries to get his attention. “Chance… Chance… CHANCE I’M NOT BUCKING SICK!” Vinyl was about to snap at him and a silence encompassed the room. After about two minutes of silence Chance piped up. “If you’re not sick then what’s the problem?” He had a puzzled look on his face. “Chance, I think, I mean I know, I mean I am…” Vinyl starts but her voice drifts off. “You are, what Vinyl please what’s wrong?” He walks over wrapping a hoof around her shoulder. “Chance, I’m pregnant, I’m bucking pregnant! What should we do?” she sobs into his chest as a mortified look sweeps over Chance’s face. How did this happen. I saw the Cake’s foals earlier how are we going to handle this? “Hay don’t sweat it, I’ll get a better job and we can look into drawing some money from the bank and friends and buy a house.” He looks down into her tear filled eyes knowing that his comfort isn’t helping. “But Chance,” she sniffles and wipes the tears out of her eyes. “I’ve never lived in one place for more than a month, the only work I know is late night parties and drinking. I am not afraid that you’ll be great to our foal I’m worried about me being-“ “Well don’t be.” A reassuring smile brings the first expression of joy to Vinyl’s face since she woke up this morning. “This is…” he pauses and searches for his words choosing them carefully. “This is a great thing to happen to us. This foal will be the mortar that binds us together, the polish that shines are feelings, and the light that reflects off of us. This is the best thing Celestia could have ever done for us. These past two weeks have been the greatest time in my life and with any other mare this would have made me worry so soon,” He looks at her and notices that the expression on her face has moved from terror to amorous. “But with you I feel it couldn’t have come sooner. “Chance, thank you. You are going to be the greatest father a foal could have.” With that Vinyl places an affectionate kiss on his lips. “So do you wanna eat I’m starving.” She smiles at him. “Sure but let’s go out, you deserve something to eat, in other words the eggs are probably burned by now.” Chance helps Vinyl up and grabs his wallet a joking tone in his voice as he tries to lighten the mood and cheer up Vinyl. The two walk to sugar cube corner, Chance is more anxious than usual. He does not focus on anything for much more than ten seconds. He also has distanced himself from Vinyl slightly. She doesn’t pay much mind to it however. Chance stops at Daisy’s stand and purchases a daisy, which he places in Vinyl’s mane. “Chance you seem nervous is everything alright?” Vinyl finally asks the question that has been nagging at her for the past five minutes. He sighs, “Fine… everything is fine.” His eyes never make contact with Vinyl. Vinyl and Chance walk into the diner that is empty except for the two ponies who are running it. “Back so soon?” Mrs. Cake says as she walks over and seats them. “Ya, I’m pregnant!” Vinyl says excitedly as both her and Mrs. Cake’s eyes turn to Chance who avoids their gaze. A moment passes where all three of them remain stationary. “Well congratulations you two, you’ll make great parents and a cute couple.” Mrs. Cake smiles. “So what can I get you?” “A cake and a milkshake for me.” Vinyl smiles back. “I see you’re already eating more that’s the sign of a healthy baby.” Mrs. Cake winks at Vinyl. “And you sir?” “Just some hayfires please.” “Okay I’ll be back in a minute.” She leaves. “Hey, are you sure you’re okay you’ve been acting really weird since we left the apartment?” Vinyl says each word weighed down with a sense of concern. “No, no I’m fine. Just eat up.” Chance replies as he sees the food coming back. “That was quick Mrs. Cake, thank you.” Vinyl says cheerfully. “No problem at all dear, you are the only two here after all.” The food was fresh, steam coming off of Chance’s hayfries. Vinyl digs into her cake and takes a sip of Milkshake. “Wow, this is really good. I don’t know if I’ve never had one of Mrs. Cakes’s cakes before or if it’s the baby but…” Her sentence is cut off short as she shoves another bite into her mouth. “Ya wont sum?” Vinyl says as she motions towards the cake. “No, I’ll just eat these, it’s not like I’m have a… foal inside of me.” The remark throws Vinyl off but she ignores it and continues to eat in silence. Chance pushes around the hayfries more than he eats them. “Hey, Chance are you going to eat those?” Vinyl points to his fires. “No go ahead here.” He starts to pick it up but Vinyl has already levitated it over in front of her. “Thanks.” She shows her gratitude by promptly taking a large mouthful of the hay fires. The next morning, Vinyl wakes up. A note and a rose are on the pillow beside her. She reaches for it and as she opens it she begins to sob. Dear Vinyl, I’m sorry I have to leave you like this but the commitment of a foal is too much for me. I have left you most of my bits and a deed to a nice house in Ponyville. I hope that you forgive me. I’m sure you’ll be a great mother but this foal, and you deserve a better me. I don’t know if I will ever see you again but I hope that one day, in the future, I will be able to see our foal grown up. The greatest of apologies and much love, Chance-a-lot
