> Bowser's Outside Story > by Bill Crafty > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bowser sat down in his favorite red chair as he watched his Koopa Troop’s make repairs to his castle. Mario always destroyed most of the castle before he left with Princess Peach, no matter what new traps awaited him. Bowser Jr. walked over to his side. “How’s your head feeling, dad?” Bowser went to answer his son, but his headache started up again. “Ow, my head.” Jr. gave him a sack of ice, which Bowser put to his head. “Don’t worry son, will get him next time.” “But dad, you said that last time.” Jr. complained. Bowser sighed. “You are young still Jr., and you have little patience. In time we will take the Mushroom Kingdom. A day will come when Mario will lose and total victory will be ours at last, but that day is not today. I know that even if it takes a thousand years, the Mushroom Kingdom will fall at my feet and…” Suddenly the headache started up again. “Father, you’re exciting yourself to much.” Jr. said. “Just calm yourself down a bit.” Bowser listened to his son and calmed down. “Adviser!” Bowser shouted. A red shelled Koopa Troopa wearing a pair of glasses and a black tie ran up to him. “Yes, your majesty?” Bowser looked down at him. “Shelly, status report on the repairs.” Shelly grabbed a clipboard out of his shell and looked down at it. “The workers are working at full speed, your majesty. Two times as fast as last time, I believe.” Bowser patted him on the shoulder. “Excellent!” He turned back to his son. “Go tell the workers that they can have a break. It’s getting dark.” “It is always dark, you majesty.” Shelly stated. Bowser shot a look at him. “You get the point.” Jr. smiled and ran off. Bowser sighed again. “Always on the move, that one.” He jumped out of his chair and started to make his daily patrol around the castle. Shelly started to walk beside him. As they walked, Bowser though of about his recent failure. Bowser and Mario stood on metal bridge, staring at each other as if in a staring contest. Mario broke eye contact and charged at him, but his son jumped from behind him to in front of him, taking Mario by surprise. The room filled with Bowser’s laugher. “You can’t win this time Mari…” Before he could finish, Mario jumped on top of his sons head, then on his head, and then near the big red button that destroys the bridge. Mario made eye contact with Bowser again. “This is a total design flaw.” Bowser looked down at the floor. “I know, but I have to have it to power the castle traps.” Mario looked shocked. “Really?” Bowser sighed. “I believe so.” Mario took he’s hat off and scratched his head. “Tell you what; I won’t push the button if you let me take the princess back the Mushroom Kingdom. Deal?” Bowser looked to his son and then back to Mario. “Deal, but you are only postponing the inevitable!” As Mario Went off with Peach, Bowser sat down on his favorite red chair, and told Jr. to get him an ice pack for his headache. Bowser let out a sigh. “I need to get rid of that button.” Shelly turned to Bowser. “What was that?” Bowser shook his head. “Nothing impotent.” After that they remained silent as they walked, until they both noticed a shiny purple portal. Shelly looked up at Bowser. “Was that always here?” Bowser stared at the portal. “I’ve walked this route all my life, and never once was a purple portal in this spot.” Bowser turned to Shelly. “Go get Bowser Jr. and tell him to get the castle guards.” Shelly bowed and rushed away. Bowser stared at the portal for a little while. “Maybe it’s a portal to the Mushroom Kingdom.” Bowser looked around for a bit, and then back to the portal. “I’ll just go in and take a look around, then come back. What’s the worst that could happen?” As he was about to step in, Jr., Shelly, and his Koopa Troop guardsmen appeared. “Just in time. Shelly and half of you guardsmen, come with me. We’re going in. Jr., you stay with the others and keep the castle safe.” “Is this a wise move?” Shelly and Jr. said in unison. Bowser smiled. “Yes it is.” With that, Bowser rushed into the portal. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The world around Bowser changed in a heartbeat. As the shock of change started to wear off, he started to get a better grasp of the environment. It was as green as the Mushroom Kingdom, but there were more trees than he remembered. The castle in the distance also looked deferent. Bowser turned to the Koopa Troop’s, who was still in one piece. Shelly walked over to him. “Sir, have you noticed the new environment?” Bowser looked down at him. “They’ve gone green! Look at all the new trees! They’ve even got a new castle, it looks completely changed!” Before Shelly could put in his thoughts about the new environment, Bowser was already rushing to the castle. Shelly rushed after him with the other Koopa’s right behind him. “Sir, is this a smart thing to do?” Bowser didn’t even turn to him. “If we got into the castle before by rushing into it, what makes you think it will be any different this time?” Shelly stopped complaining and followed Bowser. As they slowed down at the entrance, they noticed two horned horses with golden armor on stand on both sides of the entrance. The two guards looked surprised to see them, even more surprised than Bowser and the Koopa’s. “They even have new guards. What a change!” Bowser said as he walked passed them and into the castle. The Koopa followed suit, tackling the two guards, who did not have time to react. As Bowser moved deeper into the castle, he took some time looking around at the new walls and rugs. “Does this feel like a new castle or what?” None of the Koopa’s answered, as most were taking care of the guards. They finally stopped at a large door. “I think this is the throne room.” Shelly said nervously. Bowser turned to him. “You think?” Bowser pushed the door open, only to be meet by a large looking figures, a white one with a rainbow mane. Bowser pointed to it. “You’re not…” Suddenly the world around them changed. What once was a throne room was know a prison, and they were behind bars. “…Peach!” Bowser looked around the room. All of his Koopa Troop was also in the room, including Shelly, who was running around in room in panic. Bowser put his hand out and grabbed him, pulling Shelly close to his face. “What’s going on?” Shelly pushed his falling glasses back to its place. “I believe we been teleported to a prison, my lord.” Bowser let Shelly go as he thought about the situation in which he was in. “A new castle, a new land, new guards, and a new leader. Think Bowser think!” Shelly tugged at one of Bowser’s fingers. Bowser looked down on him. “What? Do you not see that I am thinking?” Shelly took a step back. “Yes but I have an idea about where we are.” Bowser’ appearance changed from one of frustration to one of interest. “I’m listening.” “I believe that the portal has taken us to another world.” Bowser didn’t take that well. “What!!!” Shelly watched as Bowser started to rant and rave around the prison in a rage. “How am I going to take over the Mushroom Kingdom if I am in the wrong world? If the portal worked like it should have…” “But it didn’t, my lord.” Bowser stopped in front of Shelly. “Do you think it was my fault? It’s not my fault!” Shelly countered quickly. “I didn’t say that. Now let’s calm down a bit.” Bowser growled in frustration as he turned to the bars, putting his hands on them. “I’m in a prison, Shelly. How am I going to calm down in a prison? Prison is for lesser people, not people of high blood!” One of the guards near the bars laughed a bit. Bowser growled at him. “You think it is funny in jail, guard? A bet you wouldn’t last ten minutes in here!” The guard turned to him. “I could so!” The other guard pulled the first one away. “Don’t get the prisoners riled up; you don’t know what they can do.” The first guard shrugged him off and went back to his corner. “He started it.” Suddenly the front of the jail was filled with a bright light in which everyone there had to shield their eyes. As the light resided, Bowser regained his sight, only to see a figure standing in a spot where only seconds ago was empty. Bowser realized that the figure was the same odd creature from the throne room. “What is the meaning of this? Who are you?” One of the guards, who were bowing now, turned to him. “Show Princess Celestia some respect!” The new figure, Celestia as the guard had told him, spoke. “Please calm yourself.” Celestia turned to Bowser. “I should be asking those same questions to you.” Bowser did not like being talked back to by two people at one time. “I wouldn’t care even if you were Princess Peach, I asked you first!” “Very good come back, your majesty.” Shelly said Bowser shot him a look. “Shut up.” “So you are one of high standing?” Celestia said. Bowser started get frustrated as he did not like being questioned. “I am King Bowser, if you must know. Know that the formalities are over, LET ME OUT!” “Let us out.” Shelly put in. “That’s what I meant to say.” Bowser answered. Celestia stood there, quiet, as if thinking. Bowser stared to grow angry, at least angrier then he already was. As Bowser was about to go into a rage, Celestia finally spoke. “You are a hot head king who stormed my castle. Wouldn’t you keep people who stormed your castle in prison?” Before Bowser could answer, Shelly walked forward and spoke. “We are not of this world. We went into a portal and it sent us here. We would be glad if you would let us go so we may return to our own.” The guards looked as if this was a joke he was playing, but Celestia seemed like she had heard this before. “I know.” She finally answered. Shelly was shocked for a while by her words. “You know?” Celestia nodded her head. “This is not the first time a stranger from another world has appeared in this world.” Bowser cut them off. “So this has happened before, and you know were from another world. Then way didn’t you teleport us back to our world?” Celestia turned to Bowser. “It is not that simple. You see the portal from whence you came has disappeared.” Bowser’s jaw dropped. “What do you mean it’s gone?” Shelly asked. “I mean you’re stuck here with us.” Celestia told them. Bowser went from shocked to furious. “What! This is not possible!” “It is possible, and it did happen.” Celestia said. Shelly watched as Bowser roared and tried to break the bars. “Let me out! Put us back!” Everyone watched Bowser have a go at the bars to no success, slowly getting sadder and sadder as reality started to take hold. After a minute or two later, Bowser slammed back to the floor in a sitting position “What happens now?” Bowser said in a low voice. Celestia thought for a moment. “There is another way to get back to your world.” Bowser’s mood started to brighten as he got back to his feet. “What is it?” Celestia raised her hoof for him to calm down. “You have rushed into my castle and tackled my guards. Before you can go back you must learn a lesson or two… or six.” “What kind of lessons?” Shelly asked, but Bowser cut Celestia off before she could answer. “It doesn’t matter; just get us out of here.” Bowser said. Celestia told one of the guards to release them. “Thank you very much.” Shelly said to Celestia. “If only your king had your kind of manners.” Celestia said. Bowser took offence to that. “I have manners, just not to strangers with hooves and rainbow hair!” Celestia shook her head. “My point still stands.” As they started to leave the jail, Bowser in front with Shelly and the other trailing behind, Celestia lead them through the castle. “Where are we going?” Bowser asked. Celestia turned to him. “I’m sending you to a small town called Ponyville. I’ve sent people there before, and so far they have learnt lessons that will be with them for their entire lives.” Bowser turned to Shelly and the Koopa Troop. “Ponyville?” They all started to laugh. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Celestia had left Bowser, Shelly, and the 12 other Koopa Troop at the front gate from which they had entered only hours ago. She told them that three carriages would be arriving shortly, and went into the castle. As the three carriages came, Bowser and Shelly entered one, and the others got into the two other ones. Bowser filled most of the space, but left plenty of room for Shelly to be comfortable. As the carriages started to move, Bowser and Shelly started to talk about the current situation. “It took them to long for the carriages to get here.” Bowser said, crossing his arms and looking down at the floor. “It only took them a few minutes.” Shelly pointed out. Bowser’ head turned at him in frustration. “I do not like waiting at all, Shelly. It’s not getting us back home any faster. And what is up with the lessons anyway? I don’t need to learn anything! I already know everything I need to know, don’t I?” Shelly did not answer as he noticed a comic on the floor and picked it up. It was all dusty, so Shelly blew on it, sending the dust flaying all over the room. They started to cough lordly as the dust got into their lungs. As the dust went away, Bowser turned to Shelly in a rage. “What was that all about, are you trying to kill us or something?” Shelly looked up at him. “No, I just found this comic and…” Before Shelly could finish, Bowser had taken the comic from his hands and started to inspect the cover. “Fallout Equestria? What type of stupid comic is this?” Bowser tossed it back to Shelly. “Should I take a look at it then?” Shelly asked. Bowser sighed and started to stare out the window. “Go crazy.” As Shelly started to read the comic, he found himself becoming bored. Sure it was written and drawn great, but he started to get depressed at idea that most of the people on the planet were dead. After a minute or two, Shelly tossed the comic onto the ground. Bowser noticed this and turned back to him, smiling a little bit. “It was boring, wasn’t it?” Shelly sighed and shook his head. “Yes, your majesty, it was.” This made Bowser laugh hard and loud. He rarely ever noticed him laugh, so this scared him a little. As Bowser started to calm down, he turned back to his normal self. He slammed his fist two times at the roof of the carriage. “Are we there yet?” Bowser bellowed out at the horse creature how was apparently pulling the carriage. “Almost…there…” The creature said in a tired voice. Shelly stuck his head out of the window and noticed that the horse looked very tired indeed. “Probably from Bowser’s weight.” Shelly thought to himself. “There it is, up ahead!” The horse creature said. “Ponyville, the greatest town in Equestria!” Bowser stuck his head out the window and got the glimpse of the town, and he was not impressed. “More like the smallest town in… whatever it is you said this world is called.” “Equestria.” Shelly told him. Bowser growled at him. “I know that!” The carriage stopped. “Where…here…” Said the horse creature how had been carrying them. Bowser slammed his door open and jumped out. “Finally, I was starting to get bored!” Shelly got out on his side and walked around the carriage to see that a new horse creature that was tan with a white mare had started to greet Bowser. “Welcome to…” The horse creature started to say, but Bowser cut it off. “I know what the town is called already! What is the first test, I would like to get them over with!” The horse creature took a step back, but answered him calmly. “You will be staying in the Prancing Pony tavern. As for the tests, they will start sometime tomorrow.” Bowser growled in frustration. “Ok, we will have it your way, but what is with you horse creatures having the word pony in everything?” The horse creature looked at him funny. “That’s because we our ponies.” “It’s getting late, my lord. We should get to that tavern.” Shelly pointed out to Bowser, who turned to him and growled. “I know that!” Bowser turned to the pony. “Will? Are you going to take us there or are we just going to stand here all day?” “Will of course. How silly of me to keep you waiting. Follow me please.” The pony turned and started walking with Bowser and the others following suit. Shelly rushed up to the pony. “I must ask, how are you and the others taking us Koopa, who are from another world, so calmly without freaking out?” The pony smiled at him. “Princess Celestia told us all about you before you got here, and this town has had some weird things happen to it before.” “How did she get here before us” Shelly asked. The pony laughed a bit “She is a god, you know.” Bowser huffed. “I still do not see what’s so special about her.” The pony turned to Bowser. “I see why Celestia wanted you to go through these lessons.” Bowser growled at her. “I don’t need lessons!” “I think I see the tavern, my lord.” Shelly said pointing to a brown building with the Prancing Pony sign in front of it. “I have eyes you know.” Bowser shouted back. As they stopped at the entrance, the pony turned to Bowser. “Don’t worry about your rooms, there were ready for you before you came. If you need anything, the names Mare, I’m the Mayor of the town. You can find me at the town hall.” Saying a goodbye, Mare turned and walked away. Bowser looked down at Shelly. “Mayor Mayor?” Shelly shook his head. “I believe her name is spelled ‘m-a-r-e’, your majesty.” Bowser sighed. “Let’s hope we come out of this with our minds intact.” Shelly smiled at him. “Look at the bright side. It can’t possibly get any worse.”
