> No Need To Change > by Scarlet Dreams > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chrysalis Exiled > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The small changeling walked quietly to the grand doors, escorted by two royal guards. One unicorn, one pegasus. Chrysalis looked at them, almost begging them to let her go, return to her chambers, continue her life. No such luck. The unicorn guard blasted the doors open and the pegasus roughly shoved her in through the doors. He trotted off, rambling something about "useless" and "unloved". The filly wandered for a bit, before being harshly addressed by a familiar voice. "Chrysalis!" bellowed the royal leader, Princess Celestia. "You know why you're here, don't you?" Chrysalis gulped. "N-no, I don't, your Highness. Why AM I here, anyways?" The Princess looked down upon her as if she were a common rat, and simply said, "You need to leave. We've gathered your belongings, and we expect you to leave shortly." Tears formed in the young changeling's eyes. "Wh-why? Do you not love me?" Chrysalis asked, tears pouring down her face. "Nopony cares about you. You're stupid, you're useless to society! I tried my bucking best and you haven't learned a damned thing! Nopony loves you! You're incapable of doing ANYTHING!" Celestia yelled, two years of anger and resentment flowing out within the words. Chrysalis's head sunk as she thought, "Maybe Celestia is right. Nopony loves me...I can't do anything. I can switch forms, but even then I stink at it! When I DO change form, it's only for a couple seconds..." "So, if you're done pitying yourself, go. I don't want to see you anymore." Celestia growled, turning away from the sobbing changeling. Chrysalis galloped out of the room, sobbing. She collected her things from an angry-looking guard and ran away from Canterlot, from her life, from Celestia. As she turned to have one last look at the only home she ever knew, she saw something that made her angry. A pink filly pegasus with slightly purple-tipped wings was entering the chambers she knew were once hers. And that's when she snapped. Rage boiled through Chrysalis, destroying any happy memories associated with Canterlot, with Celestia. She laughed a wretched laugh, echoing through the valley she had wandered into. "I, hahaha, want, no, NEED somepony to love me! If they won't love me, I'll FORCE them to love me! Ahahaha! Yes! Feed! Feed off their love for me...!" From a distance, a white colt with a blue mane watched. "Mom, I'm going out!" he cried. "Don't stay out too late, dear!" his mother replied. The colt galloped towards the valley, hoping to speak to the filly. After a little bit of searching, he found the filly curled in a ball under a bush, sobbing. "Uh...excuse me?" he asked, "Are you alright?" The crying Changeling looked up at him with one eye. "No! Of course not! I got ecks... exali...kicked out of Canterlot by Celestia!" Chrysalis pouted. "Well, do you wanna talk about it?" the colt offered. "Not really...hey, wanna play a game?" the changeling ventured. The colt smiled. "Sure! You-" "SHINING ARMOR! SHINING ARRRRMOOOOOR!" "Oh, great, it's Cadance again..." the colt sighed, "She's new to Canterlot, but I knew her from a field trip I took to this village..." As soon as this 'Cadance' arrived, Chrysalis recognized her immediately. But she wasn't a pegasus at all. She was an Alicorn like her. "So, Caadence, like your new room? I sure DID!" Chrysalis growled snarkily. "Uhm...yes?" Cadence replied, unsure of the filly in front of her. "Anyways. Shining Armor, your mum sent me to get you. You're gonna be a big brother reaaaally soon!" "Oh, jeez, really?! Sorry - uh, what was your name?" "Chrysalis" "Right. Sorry, Chrysalis, I gotta run. My mom needs help now." Shining Armor said sadly. "Here, I'll give you a lift." Cadence exclaimed, wrapping her front hooves around Shining Armor, taking off into the skies without waiting for a reply. Chrysalis sighed. She wanted to talk to the colt more. She really liked him. She was grateful that her coat was dark enough to hide the blush creeping onto her face. She knew it was weird to 'like' somepony as soon as you met them, but Shining Armor...he was so genuine, so nice. She knew, though, that they would probably never speak again. ~~~~~FIFTEEN YEARS LATER~~~~~ "Princess Cadence, Shining Armor, it is my great pleasure to pronounce you-" "STOP!" A long, drawn out cry, from a lavender unicorn. ChrysaCadence panicked, before grouchily crying "Ugh, why does she have to be SO possessive of her brother?" Noticing the stares, she switched to fake crying mode. "Why does she have to ruin my special day?" "Because it's not YOUR special day, it's MINE!" The real Cadance shouted, followed by the Unicorn. "Perhaps. But yet...perhaps it is mine? Who can tell, who can see, who knows which one's the real me? A flash of light enveloped the room, and when it disappeared, there were two Shining Armor's instead of Cadence's. "Sweetheart...Cadence!" Shining Armor shouted, "I'm real, don't believe the other one!" "No, I am!" Shining Armor insisted. "Well, this should be easy enough to solve. I'll ask some questions!" Cadance declared. "Okay...how did Shining Armor and I meet?" The fake Shining Armor remembered instantly. "I was on a field trip and I met you in the village!" The real Shining Armor flinched. "Alright...Question 2! Why did I take you away from that weird pony-thing, fifteen years ago?" ChryShining grimaced for a moment, before replying, "My mother was in labor with my little sister, Twily." Cadance looked satisfied. She cantered up to ChryShining and nuzzled him. The love was overpowering...Chrysalis couldn't help herself! She began siphoning Cadence's love, and Shining Armor's. Both loves were so strong...Cadance's out of pure love and Shining Armor's out of concern for her. And then she vanished. The room was curious as to where Clone Shining went. But Cadence ignored the whole thing and rushed to Shining Armor, hugging him. "LET THE WEDDING CONTINUE!" they cried in unison. Chrysalis watched from a distance, content with the love she had consumed. She could build a hive, an army with this love! And then feed off so much more... > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Well, that was strange, wasn't it?" Princess Cadance noted. "At least it's over." Shining Armor nodded. "Yeah. But we can't dwell on that too long. We have an empire to run, right?" Cadance turned. "Certainly. We mustn't waste time. Let's head to the Crystal Palace." ~~~Meanwhile~~~ The Changeling Queen had buzzed off, determined to find the chunk of Arctic Ice so precious, as she had heard. She was not disappointed. Focusing her energy into a concentrated beam, she began melting the Glacier where she knew the unicorn with the heart of blackess lay, dormant. "Sommmbraaa. Sommbraa. Wake up." the Queen cooed. "It has been a thousand years since anypony spoke my name. I have been freed of my icy prison. I have an empire to reclaim." Sombra growled. "Wait a moment," Chrysalis said, "I have a plan. I'll change to look like you, and distract the Empire! When Shining Armor and Princess Cadance, the new 'rulers' are distracted, sneak in behind them and reclaim the throne." The lost king smirked. "Why should I go with this? How do I know you won't stab me in the back?" "Because," Chrysalis replied, "I want this as much as you do. The rightful ruler of the empire. The two imposters overthrown. Now, I will change into you." Before waiting for an answer, she began morphing. Her wings snapped to her sides, not a part of Sombra's anatomy. Her horn filled itself in before turning red with a grey base. Her mane became black and flowing, her muzzle elongated and fuller. The spitting image of Sombra. "Now," she pronounced, "We have an empire to reclaim."
