A mysterious device appears in the Royal Garden and Luna is determined to find out what it is.

Luna isn't exactly caught up with technology- she plays a console from 2001 (no offense intended if you do) and doesn't really understand webcams. But if YOU were on the moon, could you be? I thought not. So she finds a newer device, mysteriously called an "Eye-Pod", and is determined to figure out what the heck it is. But with Celestia on her tail for not going outside after a 10 hour streak of PonyKart, how will she find time?

The sun was shining brightly and the birds were singing their sweet song to everypony who listened. The grass fluttered at the touch of the light gale that lashed out every few moments. Not often, but enough so that the grass soon realized they must defend themselves. A rogue ray of sunlight bounced off the smooth marble that encased the home of the two royal sisters and warmed the multi-colored, groomed fur of the Canterlot elites that passed by. The ponies gleefully stuck their hooves out in front of the cooling shade of their fancy hats and let the sunlight invade their veins and warm their bodies. Everypony loved this time of the day, when the sun was at its peak and at its most welcoming.

Everypony except Luna.

The mare of night didn't like the daylight- not one bit. She wasn't biased, being the princess of the night and all, but there was something she just didn't like about seeing ponies enjoying the sunlight. It made her gag.

The princess in question was strolling through the royal garden, her face contorted in disgust. She would have been inside playing a good game of PonyKart with some random n00bs, but Celestia found the log of how long she had been playing and ordered her to get some fresh air. "Thy was not playing that much," she grumbled, "only approximately ten and a quarter hours. Not much at all." She huffed and wondered who was taking her championship trophy as she walked.

A tree overhead parted slightly and a beam of sunlight hit Luna's face. "Ack! What is this foul being upon my face?" She was blinded temporarily, and she beagn to walk around without a clue where her hooves were taking her. Suddenly she toppled over a bush, flipped, and landed face first behind said bush. "Thou bush, why does thou mock me?" She muttered, getting up and brushing herself off. "Thank goodness there was nopony to see my gracious exit."

She was about to go about her business again when a shiny object caught her eye. A closer inspection under the bush's leaves showed it to be a flat, tall object that had a silver back and a black front cover of some sort. Below the shiny black surface was a circular indentation with a white square outline in the middle. "What is this? Witchcraft?" Luna touched it with her hoof, but nothing happened. She grabbed it with her telekinetic magic, shaking the object violently and turning it over. On the back, etched in the silver, was the word "iPod" and a small picture of an apple with a tiny bite taken out of one side. "What is this 'eye pod'? It does not own an eye, as far as thou senses can see." Luna poofed up some reading glasses and looked a little closer at the front. The princess examined it for a long time, thinking over the situation in her mind. Then she dramatically raised her hoof, steadily bringing it back down on the small button at the bottom of the item.

The front of the thing lit up so suddenly that Princess Luna gasped and dropped it in the grass and hid for shelter under a birdbath. "Thy has brought forth the apocaylpse! Retreat and sprint for cover!" She cried. The princess tried to fit her entire body under the marble birdbath, but she only managed to fit her head and wings, which were flared. She shivered horribly, catching stares from the Canterlot elite as they went past. "What has royalty come to?" A unicorn mare asked her male counterpart. "How I miss the days when everything was sane in this city!" They sniffed and walked away with their heads in the air.

Princess Luna grumbled at her comment but didn't say anything. She got up once she saw the light from the object had died down, then cautiously walked over to it. Before she did anything more to it, the princess of the moon looked around the area and frowned. "This area is much too crowded for thy tastes. Thy shall continue thy's quest in thou living quarters." Her horn began to glow and both her and the object were covered in a purple mist, which disappeared into the air with a dull poof.

They reappeared in Luna's chamber a split-second later, Luna sprawled out on her favorite plush chair and the object resting on a nearby coffee table that was covered with videogame controllers. "Now thy can converse in private." She said happily, levitating the thing over to her along with the TV remote and a BronyCube controller. The device she placed in her lap, and she turned on the TV on as well as her BronyCube. Thankfully PonyKart was already in the slot, so she didn't have to get up to put it in. While her treasured game loaded, Luna turned to the object.

"Now, why does thou flash wildly if thy press thou button?" She asked herself, pressing the button again. The black side of it (Luna was beginning to think it looked like a screen of some sort) lit up again, this time showing the time at the top, a picture of Celestia, and a strange button that read "Side to unlock."

Luna immediately gravitated to the Celestia picture in the middle. "Oh my goodness, what has my dear sister been doing in her plentiful spare time?"

In the background the PonyKart theme song sounded and Luna pressed the "start" button, knowing every menu by memory and flipping through them easily. She went straight to the "Online Championship" option, then to "Leaderboard." At this she looked up to see at the very top a picture of a dashing alicorn with a mane that seemed to capture the moonlight and keep it there. "Oh me, how are thou so graceful~" She purred. Beside the picture was the username FlutterLemonade1, and by that was her amazing score in Celestia Falls, which was over 9,000. She crowed in hilarity when she saw the name below hers- Crystalleap639, along with a picture of a certain white alicorn with a rose in her mouth and her eyes narrowed. Her score was 8,999.

"Oh ho ho, dear sister," Luna laughed so hard her Pony-Cola nearly fell off the coffee table, "did ye really think thy could beat me?"

She turned back to the device and it's peculiar command to "slide." "Well, if thou insist." She said, getting up from her chair and laying on the floor. She began to slide across it a few times, getting a nasty rug burn, then got back on her hooves and looked back at the object. It still asked her to slide. "Thou have slid, so thou shall unlock!" She yelled, stomping her hoof.

The object didn't respond.

Luna angrily sighed and turned her back to it, lifting her headset to her ears and bringing her soda to her lips. "Time for a grand duel of PonyKart." She announced. The Queen of the Kart navigated to an active tournament and joined just as the next race began, in Celestia Falls.

"Ha ha! The win has ben doubled!" She exclaimed. Celestia Falls was her specialty.

She was playing as herself, of course, driving a gorgeous, sleek black cart with wings and a moon graphic on the front. She texted to the other players "Hear ye, hear ye, thou princess of the track has arrived!" Rainbow Dash (toawesomeforthistrack) texted back in the Royal Capslock "HAHAHA REAL FUNNEH LUNA"

Derpy (Mintymuffin1010101), who was also on (riding in a muffin kart at that), added her two cents by saying "MuFFiN!"

Suddenly there was a loud beeping noise and a vibrating sensation on Luna's back. She immediately grabbed her foam Wii Sword and held it at the ready, prepared to attack. "Back, thou unruly demon!" The princess hissed. She looked around for whatever had "attacked" her, but all that was there was the "eye pod." It was vibrating on the chair, and a new message of sorts had popped up that read "Princess Celestia is trying to video call you. Accept or Deny?"

Luna simply stared at it. Should she answer? Reluctantly she came up to the device and tried to figure out how to press "accept." There was no other button besides the one at the bottom, and she didn't think pressing that would help that much. In a desprete attempt she tried pressing the screen, although she knew it would not work.

As her hoof pressed down on the "accept" button, the screen transformed into a video of Princess Celestia herself. Her sister was staring her down through some type of webcam, apparently not at all happy. "Luna, are you in your room?" She asked.

Luna blushed and pushed away the BronyCube controller. "Not at all, dear sister. What in Equestria would make thou think that?"

Celestia frowned. "Luna, are you lying to me?"

"No no no, definetely not!"

The elder princess snorted and turned away from her webcam, and the pressing of buttons could be heard. A few images flashed on Celestia's face, but she didn't say anything.

There was a sharp tone on Luna's TV, which meant some other pony had joined the race. The user was racing in a large golden carriage, complete with white wings. The driver was a white alicorn by the name of Crystalleap639.

Celestia looked back at Luna sharply, the heat of a dozen suns in her eyes. "Luna, why are you playing a tournament?"

Luna smiled. "Because I am practicing my people skills?"

"You should be outside!"

"But sister-"

"LUNA. OUTSIDE. NOW."

The white alicorn huffed and her picture was gone, replaced by the creepy one that was there when Luna had first found it.

She huffed as well and sat back in her comfy chair, the eye pod resting on the chair's arm and the controller in her lap. A very long straw connected her mouth to the Pony-Cola. "Go outside, she says," Luna protested as she waited for the race to begin, "while she lounges in her lavish suite! Ha! A tad hypocritical today, arn't we Celestia?" She laughed.

Celestia's character was still there as Luna texted a reply to Rainbow Dash concerning their karts' respective speeds. While she was typing, in large letters Celestia typed to her "LUNA. OUTSIDE NOW OR MOON TOMORROW."

Luna gulped. Maybe going outside wasn't such a bad thing...

She remembered the Canterlot elite who saw her as she fiddled with the eye pod. "So embarressing." She muttered. Now that she knew how to operate the device, she didn't want to play with it in front of other ponies. They already thought bad of her after the Ponyville incident last Nightmare Night. She shivered at that experiance.

The princess decided that she would stay inside, whether she be sent to the moon or not. Even if she was, she would be alone to play with the object that fascinated her so.

The race began to count down and Luna hovered over the controller. "Time to shine." She whispered to herself.

In the corner of the screen Celestia had typed another message to her. "Luna, if you don't get outside right now, I will personally hunt you down and kick your sorry little butt straight to the moon. Do you understand me?"

Luna abscentmindedly texted "Whatever, sis."

She could almost see Celestia blowing a fuse over this. Her sister typed back. "I'll give you one last chance, or else its a one-way ticket to the moon."

The checkered flag was about to drop, and Luna didn't pay attention to Celestia's angry comments in the corner. Her mind was on one thing and one thing alone- racing and winning.

"Last chance..."

The flag fell and Luna burst out of the gate with a Sonic Rainboom of her own variety, leaving the others in the dust. Her hooves mashed the buttons so hard she was sure they would surely break under the pressure. Before she rounded the corner for the first lap Celestia left a final message-

"I'M COMING FOR YOU LUNA!!!"

Celestia's character disappeared in a puff of white mist, and in reality a loud boom could be heard. Luna paused the game and quickly ran to her window, where she could clearly see the tower that marked her sister's chamber. Usually if Celestia was in it there would be a light on, but there was no light. Instead, there was an angry alicorn flying out of the window and straight for Luna's tower. She could tell Celestia was incredibly angry because instead of her normal tri-colored flowing mane, her mane was one of pure fire as were her eyes.

Luna gasped and hit the OFF button on the remote, throwing the remaining Pony-Cola in the fridge and grabbing the eye pod before dashing out the door.
