> Alone in the Night > by BrainLapse > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Starry Night > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was just one of those nights. The stars were out, shining brightly behind the ambient, glowing moon. Most ponies sleep at this time because of the work and play that the day brings. Twilight Sparkle was not one of thse ponies. She loved the night, the moon, the stars, and the serenity that came with it. She could spend hours in the night studying or practicing astronomy. But tonight she just watched the stars. So much had happened recently that it felt nice to be able to just relax. Being the thinker that she was, her mind raced no matter how much she wished she could just lay back and enjoy the evening. Her body was just too alive for her to be able to just sit there. Figuring that it might do her some good, she took an idea she read in a book to relax. She went on a leasuly walk through Ponyvile. As she wondered through the town, she felt both uneasy and relaxed at the same time. The dead quiet of the town was startling, but after everything that happens around Ponyvile, it was nice for the town to seem semi-normal. As she reached the edge of town she started to slow down. The beauty of the countryside at night was breath taking. The hills had a wonderful glow from the moonlight and the sky was so clear, atleast compared to Canterlot. All the while she was walking further and further from her home. After a while though, she started to hear something. It was not very loud, but if she listened close enough she could just faintly hear it. Intrigued by the sound, Twilight decided to find its source. After wondering for a good amount of time, Twilight found herself near Fluttershy's cottage. As Twilight neared the cottage, the sound slowly became more defined. It was the sound of pain, it was the sound somepony filled with dispair. When Twilight heard this, she found the urge to go to the source to find a way to end the pain it was in. With the urge in her heart taking control, Twilight walked up to Fluttershy's cottage and looked in the giant front windows. There on the couch was Fluttershy, her head in her hooves, her body shaking with the sobs she was emmiting. The sight of this broke Twilight's heart. Fluttershy was the gentlest and kindest pony she knew. What would cause her to breakdown like this? For a while, Twilight just stood there lost for words, het mind racing at all the possible things that could cause her friend to cry. Slowly, Fluttershy's body stopped shaking and her breathing slowed, signifing that she had fallen asleep. Twilight, not wanting to disturb her friend's sleep, left. On her way back to the library, her mind raced with thoughts about this newest development. Her mind was starting to slow down by the time she reached Ponyvile, almost completely stopped by the time she reached her library home, and as she reached her bed she only had one thought in her mind. 'I have to help Fluttershy.' > Light of Day (part 1) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sun broke through the window, beams of light brightening the room. With a groan, Twilight got up. Her hooves felt like led and her eyes just couldn't stay open, slowly drooping. For a moment she just sat there, her mind still half locked in a sleep-like state. Then, with a start, she remebered what she saw last night. Twilight hooped out if bed, and began to rush to find Fluttershy. As she passed a mirror though, she caught sight of the bed mane and paniced look in her eyes made her slow down. Taking in the shocking image of the feral pony in the mirror, Twilight stopped and took out her brush. After spending the time to compose herself, Twilight trotted out of her library home. Ponyvile was a completely different scene from the one she experienced last night. The market was full of ponies buying and selling goods. Ponies were stopped in conversation, the birds were chirpping, the sun was shining. Twilight began her journey through town, smiling politely at the ponies who passed her. Though the town was busy, Twilight managed to get through the crowd with relative ease. She let out a sigh of relief, and then she proceed to head towards Fluttershy's cottage. After traveling through the rolling hills that surrounded Ponyvile, Twilight reached her destination. Slowly she approached thedoor to the cottage, figuring out just what she would say to Fluttershy. She did not want to scare the timid pony back into a corner, but at the same time she wanted answers. When she raised her hoof to knock on the door, she noticed the lack of activity around the cottage. Twilight paused, thinking about this oddity, before she proceed to knock. After a few moments of knocking, Twilight waited patiently, only to be left sitting outside the cottage. After waiting a few minutes, she got up and left. Twilight began wandering back towards town, her mind even deeper in thought then on the trip to the cottage. The thought of Fluttershy going missing starting to bring back that sense of panic she had experienced earlier that morning. Begining to fear the worst, Twilight ran back to town, all the while her mind racing through the horrible possiblities of events that could be happening to Fluttershy at that very moment. These thoughts only added full to her fire, causing her to gallop at full speed through Ponyvile, with other ponies just able to jump out of the way. Then, suddenly, she couldn't move. Twilight found herself being held in place by a rope that had managed to be wraped around her hooves while she'd been running at a rediculous pace. Looking behind her she saw an orange cowmare that was responsible for her stop of movement. "Now hold up there sugarcube. What in tarnation got ya so worked up that yer practically tearin' up Ponyvile from its foundation?" Asked Applejack. Applejack had been leaving her stand in the market for an early lunch break when she heard the ruckus that Twilight was causing in her rush. "Applejack! I don't have time for this! I have to find her!" Twilight shouted at Applejack before continuing to struggle against the knot when she felt a hoof on her shoulder. Slowly, Twilight looked up at the orange earth pony. "Twi, Ah want ya to listen here. Before ya continue destroyin' the town Ah want to know whats got ya so worked up." Applejack said slowly, making sure the captive mare was litening to her and not trying to escape. Slowly Twilight took a deep breath. "Applejack, it's Fluttershy. She's gone missing. She's not at her cottage and I don't know where to look." Twilight said while she tried to calm down just enough to get Applejack to let her go. > Light of Day (part 2) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack paused, surprised at Twilight's panic over Fluttershy being away from her cottage. She took a deep breath, cleared her throat, which effectively gained Twilight's attention. "Twi, you do realise that today is the day that Fluttershy goes to the spa with Rarity, right?" Applejack stated. Upon hearing this, Twilight stopped struggling. She felt stupid. She had freaked out over nothing all because she forgot about Fluttershy's weekly spa day with Rarity. While she mentally berated herself on forgeting that piece of information, Applejack untied the purple unicorn. After Applejack was done, Twilight stood up and began to laugh nervously. "Well now that was sure foalish of me." Twilight said, trying to break the awkward tension that had begun to form. Applejack just looked at Twilight, trying to figure why she had been so worked up about Fluttershy not being home. A few more moments passed, nothing being said between the two mares. Finally Applejack broke the silence between the two. "Now sugarcube somethings on yer mind, Ah don't know what it is, but ya need to get yer head cleared. If ya need somepony to talk to, ya know Ah've always got time for a friend." Applejack told Twilight, the concer evident in her eyes. Sighing, Twilight looked down. "Don't worry Applejack, I'm fine. I just needed to borrow a book on animals."Twilight lied," I can just get it from her later." "Ya sure?" Applejack questioned, not entirely buying the lie. "I'm fine Applejack. Anyway, I've got to get back home, plenty of books to read, spells to cast." Twilight replied, her eyes looking anywhere but Applejack. "Alright then, Twi, Ah'll see ya around." Applejack said before heading back towards her cart. Twilight let out a sigh of relief, glad that her encounter with the orange earth pony had ended without her making a bigger foal of herself. Silently, Twilight headed back to her library home. > The First Star > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight relaxed for the first time that day. She was glad to be home, to finally be able to get her mind off of last night's events. Even though she was still worried about Fluttershy, she was certain that it would be better now that Fluttershy was with someone she could confide in. Slowly Twilight got back into her usual routine of studying for hours on end. When she finally took a break to satisfy the thunderous growls coming from her stomach, the sun had already set and the moon was begining its ascent into the sky. After eating a simple sandwich, Twilight stopped by her balcony, looking briefly out at the night sky. Her mind began towander when she suddenly took in a sharp breath. Fluttershy came to mind, causing Twilight to begin to worry again. Deciding that she could wait no longer to get her answer, Twilight left her library home. Once again, Ponyvile was the quiet, empty husk of the town it is during the day. But now was not the time to focus on that. Twilight needed to know what could possibly bring tears to the eyes of her gentle pegasus friend. Time passed quickly as Twilight went through the town and surrounding area towards Fluttershy's cottage. Once again Twilight heard the noise, the sound that broke her heart, the sound of Fluttershy crying. Twilight's pace only increased when she heard it. Within minutes Twilight reached the cottage, and inside the same scene was unfolding. There on the couch was Fluttershy, tears staining her face, sobs wracking her whole body. As the crying continued, Twilight's heart broke further and further. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She walked up to the door and knocked. Inside, Twilight heard a small squeak, followed by the sounds of the pegasus composing her self. Then the door opened just a crack. "He-hello,Twi-twilight. Wh-what are yo-you doing out at th-this time of night?" Spoke the timid mare that stood behind the door. "Fluttershy, I came because i found you crying last night. Today I tried to find you, only to be reminded of the fact that today was your and Rarity's spa day. But it really had me worried Fluttershy. What in Equestria could cause you so much pain. Why didn't you tell anypony? You should know that we are all here for you. So please Fluttershy, tell me what is wrong." Twilight pleaded at the pegasus. For a few moments, Twilight was worried that Fluttershy would hide away whatever was the cause of the pain. Then, their eyes locked, both seeing the emotions deep within the other's heart. Twilight saw the happiness and joy that she had come to know of Fluttershy. But she also saw something she did not expect. She saw anger and distrust. The strongest of all, though, was pain. It was like a dam that was overflowing. It hurt Twilight to see that the timid mare had so much pain. Fluttershy was seeing something entirely different. She saw the curiousity that Twilight always had, along with the confusion that usually came with it. But she also saw so much more. There was happiness, pain, hope and, most of all, compasion. That was the one that hit home for Fluttershy. The fact that somepony cared enough to come to her and help her with her problems was foreign to her. At that, Fluttershy broke down in front of Twilight. Shocked and worried by the sudden breakdown, Twilight rushed to Fluttershy's side and pulled her into a hug. Slowly Twilight led the pegasus to the couch. Once they settled down on the couch, another wave of sobs shook the pegasus's body. Twilight started to rub circles on Fluttershy's back while whispering words of comfort to the pastel mare. The two ponies sat there, many feelings and emotions passing without a word being said. After a bit of time, both ponies drifted off into the land of dreams. > Rising Sun (Part 1) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight's eyes fluttered open as Celestia's sun lit up the room. As she opened her eyes, the wall infront of her was not one she reconized. Where her mirror would be, there was a fireplace. Not to mention the walls were a different color. Twilight started to panic, fearing that somepony had ponynapped her, when something soft nuzzled into her side. She turned her head to see Fluttershy curled up next to her. Twilght felt herself begining to blush. She was torn between moving away from this slightly embarrassing situation and letting the beautiful mare keep sleeping peacefully at her side. As Twilight pondered this, she remebered Spike, who was probably just waking up at home wondering where she was. Twilight got off the couch when she heard a noise behind her. Turning around she saw the timid pegasus looking at her shock in her eyes. Fluttershy started to blush, which made Twilight think of how cute that looked. They both began to stare at one another, the tension so thick that it could be cut with a knife. Eventually Fluttershy spoke. "Um thank you Twilight, it means a lot to me that you were um there for me." She stammered out. Twilight looked at the mare for a quick second before regaining her train of thought. "Its no problem Fluttershy. I am sorry that I woke you though. I just need to get back home. Spike didn't know about my trip out here, so he'll probably be worried." Twilight replied. "Twilight, could you not tell anypony about this, if that's ok with you. I really don't want the others to worry" Fluttershy said quietly. "Sure thing Fluttershy. I won't tell a soul." Twilight told the pastel mare. Smiling she began to head out the door when she felt a pair hooves wrapped around her. Looking back she saw Fluttershy hugging her, a smile on her face. "Thank you Twilight." Fluttershy whispered. They stayed there for a moment before Fluttershy let go, both of the ponies missing the warmth that the other brought. Silently Twilight made her way back towards town. As Twilight walked back towards Ponyvile, her mind began to wander. Her thoughts constantly goingvback to the sight she had seen this moening. She thought about how right it felt, how happy it made her. She then began to think about the pegasus herself. How sweet and caring she was, but how she could be strong when she needed. The more Twilight thought of the mare, the faster her heart beat. As Twilight was walking, lost in thought, Rainbow Dash flew overhead. She had been clearing the skies when she saw Twilight. Slowly she flew down in front of the unicorn. As she landed infront of Twilight, the unicorn was so lost in thought that she walked strait into Rainbow Dash's flank. After recovering from the embarrassing collision, Twilight looked at the cyan pegasus. "Geez Twi, you've got to watch where your going. What could possible have you so distracted that you ran right into me, unless you meant to. Cuz I know I'm amazing, but I don't fly that way." Said Rainbow Dash in her usual boasterous tone. Twilight just stood there for a moment, figuring out exactly what just happened before blushing. "Whoops, sorry Rainbow, I guess I wasn't looking where I was going. I just have a lot on my mind." Twilight said before blushing again at the thought of Fluttershy. This blush did not escape the notice of the pegasus. "So who's the lucky stallion?" Questioned the cyan mare. The question caught Twilight off guard, causing her to start to panic, worried that her secret would be spilled. > Rising Sun (Part 2) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Um well, you see, uhhh........" Twilight stammered out, trying to come up with a reasonable answer to Rainbow's question. Although not uncommon, mares liking other mares was still slightly looked down upon and Twilight definantly did not want to lose any of her friends because of it. As Twilight mulled over the possiblities, Rainbow Dash was trying to come up with a reason as to why Twilight was hiding something. Trying to get the unicorn's attention again, the weatherpony began waving her hoof infront of Twilight's face. "Yoo-hoo, Twiiiiillliiiiight? Are you there?" Rainbow Dash said with mild annoyance in her voice. When the cyan pegasus spoke, Twilight quickly came back to reality. She quickly looked around, checking if anypony was nearby. While she had been lost in thought, Twilight had come to the conclusion that if she would tell anypony about her preferences, Rainbow Dash would be the best option, because of her loyalty and her supportiveness. "Well you see, the pony I like is not exactly a stallion." Twilight said with a blush. Rainbow Dash just stood there for second. Twilight began to panic, worried that the cyan pegasus would be disgusted with her, or would begin to degrade her where she stood. But instead of doing any of those things, Rainbow Dash began to smile. "Is that what had you so worked up? Sheesh Twi, you think I care about you liking stallions or mares? As long as you don't hit on me, we're golden." Rainbow Dash said nonchilantly. At this Twilight smile and hugged the cyan pegasus. "Oh Rainbow, you don't realise how much this means to me. I was so worried that you would ridicule me, or beat me up, or ridicule and beat me up. But now you said it's fine!" Rambled a relieved Twilight. She was just happy that atleast one of her friends would stand by her. Slowly she realized that she was still hugging the cyan pegasus. Blushing she pulled away muttering apologies. "So anyway Twi, who's the lucky mare? And, as I said before, I may be awesome, but I don't fly that way." Rainbow Dash said as she floated lazily in the air infront of the lavender unicorn. Twilight blushed before looking away. Rainbow Dash just smiled at her, waiting for the answer. As Twilight slowly thought up of some way to getting out telling Rainbow Dash that she was starting to crush on Fluttershy, an energetic pink pony hopped on over. Humming to herself, she made her way over to the pair of mares. "Hi Rainbow! Hi Twilight! I just saw you two standing over here talking and I was like 'I bet that they are planning something', then I thought that maybe it was a party, but then I realized that was silly because you would get me to help if it was a party, well except for that one time where you all threw me a surprise party, which was super dooper awesome!" Pinkie Pie said in her usual overexcited manner. While she said this, both Twilight and Rainbow turned to look at her, trying to keep pace with the movement of the pink pony's mind. Eventually they caught up, looked at each other, and with a slight nod from Twilight, they decided to tell the energetic earth pony. "Well Pinkie, we weren't planning a party. I was just talking to Rainbow Dash about who we had crushes on." Twilight said with a blush. Looking at the party pony, she saw that Pinkie was still bouncing in place with a big smile on her face. "Oooohh, who is it? Is it Big Macintosh? Or Carmel? or -"Pinkie began to guess before Rainbow Dash shoved a hoof in her mouth. Rainbow Dash looked at Pinkie with an annoyed look before speaking. "Well Pinkie, If you would wait a few second, I'm sure Twilight would be able to tell us." Rainbow Dash told the pink party pony, beginning to become impatient from waiting so long to find out. Silently, Pinkie nodded, and they both turned to Twilight. "Well the pony I like is um Fluttershy..." Twilight said while rubbing her hoof on the back of her neck. Rainbow Dash had a surprised expression, expecting somepony more bookish, while all Pinkie did was smile. "Oh Twilight, I'm so so so so happy for you! Have you told her yet? Are you two in love? Cuz then I could throw you a party! Then everypony can see how cute you two look together and be all happy with you!" Pinkie told Twilight, getting a small smile from her. "Well you see that's the problem, I can't exactly find the right way to tell her. I mean there is nothing about it in any of my books and I just don't know what somepony should do in this situation." Twilight said while beginning to worry, realizing that she had no clue on how to tell the timid pegasus about her feelings. She thought over all the possibilities of things that she could do to tell Fluttershy without scaring her. Rainbow Dash just looked at her with a smile and began to form a plan. "Twilight, you've got nothing to worry about! You'll have the best pick up pony in all of Equestria helping you. And Pinkie too." Rainbow said with a cocky smirk on her face. "Really? You would do that for me? Oh thank you so much!" Twilight exclaimed pulling both ponies into a big hug. "Alright Twi, enough with the hugging. Now let's head back to your home to begin to plan it out." Rainbow Dash said while squirming out of the hug. Slowly the ponies all began to head back to Twilight's library home to plan out her next move. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A/N: Sorry that it took so long ya'll. Life just kinda got in the way. > A Quick Note > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone. I kinda just felt to give ya'll a quick warning. The next chapter might be slow to come out. The main reason is for the fact that I am hitting some writers block, but atleast not in what I think is the traditional sense. I know where I am taking the story, I know what is going to happen, and I know what's happening at the start of the next chapter. The main problem is that when I start to write it, my words get tangled and I start to try and skip the scene, but it is needed. I just need to focus and spend the time to do it. So once again I am sorry but the next chapter probably will be delayed, unless the inspiration fairy decides to pay me a visit. Also if anyone would like to proof read this story, it would be greatly appriciated > Dusk > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight sighed as she closed the door behind Rainbow and Pinkie. They had exhausted Twilight with all their crazy ideas of telling Fluttershy her feelings, but she had shot them all down. They had varied from a bouquet of flowers to dropping out of the sky while fireworks went off in the background. Twilight had dismissed almost all of them, although the flowers idea did appeal to her. But now she just worried about how she was going to say it. It would have to wait though, Rainbow had warned Twilight of a major storm being made at the moment. It was going to be strong and would last most of the night. It made Twilight worry a little about Fluttershy because of what she had witnessed over the last few nights. But there really was nothing she could do, at least until she figured out exactly how to tell Fluttershy her feelings. She began to think over all the possibilities again, making lists for the pros and the cons. She worried over all the things that could go wrong, slowly making her worry more and more about what could happen if Fluttershy turned her down. Then she remembered what Rainbow had told her. "Twilight no matter what you do involving Fluttershy, you should know that she does look to others for strength. If you want to even stand a chance with her you have to show her true strength, which also means that you cannot freak out about things like this. You just need to trust your instincts and hope for the best." Twilight sighed, letting her mind begin to wander, now that it was no longer harbored down by thoughts of rejection. She slowly sat down to catch up on her studies. She began to read, enjoying the the quiet companionship of her books. Suddenly, Twilight just barely heard the sound of somepony knocking at her door. Curious, she looked up from her book, seeing that several hours had passed. It would have been a little after sunlight if it wasn't for the storm that covered the sky. Slowly she got up from her desk and walked over to the door. When she opened the door, it revealed a disheveled Fluttershy, who appeared to be having troubles standing. Fluttershy looked as if she was barely standing, her hair was covered in grim and twigs, her coat was covered in splotches of filth and she was completely soaked. Twilight was shocked at her appearance. "He-Hello Twi-Twilight. Th-there's som-some thi-thing I re-really ne-ne-ne-need to tell y-yo-you." Fluttershy managed to force out, her ability to stand faltering. She had traveled through the storm to Twilight's library to finally get something off her chest. She had spent all day building up her courage to finally tell Twilight how she really felt. When she had finally built up the courage, she left her home immediately to tell Twilight. But when she had arrived at the edge of Ponyvile, the storm had hit. Her house was further away from the library when it hit, so Fluttershy had decided to forge ahead through the storm. As she traveled through the storm, she had been battered with all sorts of garbage and dirty that was thrown around by the wind, and it stuck to her with the help of the torrential downpour occurring around her. Multiple times during the trip, Fluttershy had been knocked into a building, or any kind of structure, by large gusts of wind. It had taken all her strength to continue forward, but she needed to get to the library. Twilight took a step back to make room for the beat up pegasus. As she opened her mouth to speak though, Fluttershy fell forward, passing out on the spot. Twilight rushed forward, barely catching the unconscious pony before she hit the ground. Twilight struggled, but managed to pick her up and carry her over to her couch, setting her down as carefully as she could. Her body was beginning to run on autopilot, her mind too frantic to be of any use right now. Spike walked into the main room and gasped as he saw Twilight pacing around the couch where the pastel pegasus was laying. "Twilight! What happened?!?!?!?" Spike shouted. Twilight jumped when she heard the little dragon, her ability to process coherent thoughts returning to her as she turned to her assistant. "I don't know Spike. I was studying when I heard her knock on the door. I opened it, she told me that she needed to tell me something and then she collapsed." Twilight said while forcing her panic back down. " What should we do Spike? The storm is just too strong for somepony to travel out in, but if we don't get her help, she could get even worse. I mean we do have a first aid kit but I don't know how much help we can be. Maybe there's a spell that I could use." "Twi, are you ok? You seem to be freaking out." Spike said as he watched Twilight start to look around frantically, using her magic to pull books off the shelf, reading a few pages before throwing it away from her. Spike had never seen her treat books with such disregard, so he figured something must seriously be wrong. He slowly approached the frazzled unicorn before he tentatively put a claw on her shoulder. She snapped her head towards the dragon, her irises much smaller than normal. "Yes Spike?" Twilight asked while cocking her head to the side, sending shivers down Spike's spine. She looked like she should be locked up. "Well, you see Twi, I just thought that maybe we could just teleport to the hospital? I mean that would avoid going through the storm while still getting her in some experienced hooves." Spike said slowly as to not aggravate the purple pony. She looked at him with a blank look on her face before she realized what he had said. She rushed over to the unconscious pony on her couch, carefully putting her on her back. Twilight closed her eyes, took a deep breath and focused on the spell. Her face began to scrunch in frustration before she winked out of the room in a bright pink flash. ------ A/N: Sorry that took so long yall. I just could not figure out how to start this one. But once I got it going it flowed out. I'm thinking that there will probably only be about two more chapters. Anyways thanks for all the support and stuff. The next few should not take as long though. > Dawn > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy woke up with her whole body aching. She tried to open her eyes, but the light was too bright for her to handle. She let out a small squeak as she shut her eyes tight. The small glimpse of the room had revealed that it was white and fairly bare. As she slowly relaxed her eyelids, she heard the rustling of somepony moving near her. As she listened she heard a mare speak. “Fluttershy? Are you awake?” the voice asked before sighing, “No, I guess not. I hope her dreams get better. It was sad to see her lie there so lifeless, then to the nightmares that drove her to scream out loud, it must have been terrible.” Fluttershy recognized it almost immediately as Twilight's voice. It hurt Fluttershy's heart for her to hear the unicorn so down trodden. When Fluttershy heard this, she slowly opened her eyes again, squinting against the light. "Twi-tw-twilight?" Fluttershy asked meekly, her voice barely a whisper. It hurt her so much to speak, her chest like it was aflame. As she slowly looked around, she noticed that it was a hospital room. How she got here was beyond her. She had been at Twilight's door, ready to spill forth her heart when the world went dark. Next thing she knew she was waking up here, in this bright stark room. When Twilight heard the pegasus mare's voice, her heart shot skyward. It made her happy to hear the soft voice that made her heart flutter. As she turned to look at the mare, her very being hurt to see the gentle pony in such a condition. Fluttershy's body was nearly covered from head to hoof in bandages. She had traveled through a storm that nopony in their right mind should have gone through. The storm had been worse than the one that caused her impromptu slumber party with Rarity and Applejack. When Twilight showed up suddenly at the hospital with Fluttershy on her back, she had scared most of the ponies in the hospital, which was luckily not that many. The doctors had approached Twilight to see what was wrong with Fluttershy, she had struggled so hard to not be separated from her injured friend that she had to be sedated. When the unicorn had come to, she found that Fluttershy was in surgery. Also while Twilight was out, her other friends had been contacted, as the storm had cleared up by this time. It became apparent that some serious damage had been done to the pastel pegasus when Twilight had seen how much time the doctors had spent working on Fluttershy. When the doctors came out of the operating room, Twilight had bombarded them with questions. From what she had managed to get out of the doctors, Fluttershy had bruised a few ribs, broken one leg and a wing. This was serious injury for one pony to suffer from, and Twilight could not imagine what had driven Fluttershy so much to seek her out that she would put herself through this. Slowly Twilight came back to the present, looking at the battered mare that lay in the hospital bed beside her. "Oh Fluttershy! Your awake!" Twilight cried to the pony in front of her. She had tears in her eyes, but that did not matter as she enveloped her in a hug. It felt so good for her to be able to hold the pegasus in her hooves. Fluttershy, although enjoying the hug, was still in no condition to move so much. Slowly she spoke again, trying to avoid as much words as possible to not make her chest hurt as much. “Um, Twilight? As much as I am enjoying this hug, um, if it wouldn’t be a bother if you could please let me go? Please? Well if that’s ok with you.” Fluttershy said tentatively to the unicorn currently holding her. Twilight blushed as she slowly let go of the injured pegasus, her cheeks a shade of pink when Fluttershy stole a look at her. Finally after having a few moments pass between the two ponies, Twilight decided to speak. “Fluttershy, what in Equestria drove you to the point that you braved through the rain, lightning and thunder to reach my house when you could have been safe at home with all of your animal friends?” Twilight asked with a perplexed look in her eyes as she watched the pegasus look around nervously. Finally with a sigh, Fluttershy took a deep breathe before she said what had been on her mind since that morning when she woke up cuddled up with Twilight. “Twilight, I like you.” Fluttershy managed to say as she looked up at the purple mare. Twilight’s eyes widened for a moment before she thought of what all that statement could mean. “What do you mean I like you? As a pony,? As a friend? As something more?” Twilight asked, tilting her head to the side as she secretly hoped that this meant what she thought this meant. “As something more.” Fluttershy squeaked out, shrinking back into her bed as she feared for Twilight to crush her hopes where she sat. But as it turned out, she got the opposite response. Twilight began to smile at her with a look of joy singing out on her features. Twilight quickly pulled Fluttershy into another hug. “Oh Fluttershy, you do not know how happy it makes me to hear you say that. I feel the same way! The only reason I didn’t tell you is because I had been worrying that if I said something like that to you, you would run and hide, and then we wouldn’t be friends and our friends would try and make it work out but eventually there would be a split because of the fact that it would be awkward for them to hang out with one of us while the other isn’t there.” Twilight said rambling again. She heard a small squeak come out of the gentle pony in her arms before she realized that her constantly pulling Fluttershy into hugs was probably not that good for her recovery. But truth be told, Fluttershy did not feel a thing this time around because of the happiness that flooded her body. She was soaring through the sky because of what Twilight had just said. She felt the same. It was a small simple sentence, but it meant so much to both ponies in the room. They slowly pulled back, looking into each other’s eyes, seeing something that they had only dreamed about. Both ponies knew that it was not an easy road ahead of them, but as long as the other was by their side, they were willing to face it, because in the end it all would be worth it. ------------------------------------- A/N: Hey yall BL here. Sorry that took so long. These intros are just holding me up. When I get past them, I'm able to pump out line after line after line after line after line. But anyway I just put this in here to let you know that this is the second to last chapter. Soon this story will be coming to a close. I'd like to thank yall for being great bout this. Sad fact is this is my first story, and I'm liking how its turned out, so I guess it was worth it. Anyway peace to ya'll. BL out > Another Note > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone. Another note on the story. I'm sorry to say this, but it's going on hiatus until I can find my drive to do the rewrites that I have planned. So sorry if I got anyone's hopes up about an update, its just I'm not in the mood to write this story. Sorry once again. Feel free to message me about anything on your mind, I'll try and help ya if I can.
