> Chasing Rarity > by Kodokuna > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > ?? - Kodokuna > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Don't you dare die on me Rarity! I can't, no I won't, live without you..." With her remaining strength, Rarity smiled one last time. As she was about to speak, voltage sparked her body like magnificent fireworks. And she died. A horrific ending to such a beautiful mare. Multiple hearts were broken that day... > 01 - Twilight Sparkle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Celestia has a new assignment for me. Am I really to welcome a wolf to Ponyville? I asked if I should panic, seeing as to how I have no books on the subject. She simply laughed and told me that I need not to worry, as this wolf will cause no harm or be of any trouble to any pony. This calmed me down only for a mere seconds as a new question popped up: "Who is this Wolf?" Celestia simply answered a name. "Kodokuna?" With a nod, she began to explain that this wolf has gone through hardships, as his pack abandoned him long ago. Seeing him alone in the Everfree Forest made her realize that maybe a little friendship can turn his life around. Was that truly it? To simply befriend an awkward wolf? I asked the royal Princess if there was anything more to it, but she quickly shook her head. As I took my leave, the Princess gave me a strange warning. Did her voice just quiver? Before I could turn around, the doors magically closed shut. "How did it go with the Princess, Twilight?" "Something's up Spike." And I left it at that. Spike tried to inquire more about it, but the only thing he received was silence. As we took the train back to Ponyville, I thought hard about not only what Celestia said, but as to how she said it with fear. Although I can't prove it, I know the Princess was lying about there not being more to this wolf. Her Warning? Never forget about the Blood Diamonds. Maybe there's something about these 'Blood Diamonds' in one of my books that I could possibly connect it to this wolf I'm supposed to welcome. In the meanwhile, I must first visit Pinkie Pie. She is after all the best party planner in all of Equestria. > 02 - Pinkie Pie > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "A WOLF IS COMING TO PONYVILLE?!", I screamed at the top of my lungs. An annoyed Twilight told me to keep calm. But how could I possibly keep calm? Emotions of Excitement and Fear swirled through my veins and... Wait a minute. With a blank face, I asked her, "What is a wolf?" Seeing Twilight roll her eyes brought giggles to my face. Using her magic, she took out a book from her pack and swiftly flipped to a page depicting a wolf. I was simply joking about not knowing what a wolf was until I saw that picture. Last time I checked, wolves were more wooden then furry... The book was rudely snapped shut on my snout. As I massaged where it hurts, she began telling me that she needs a welcome party for this wolf named Kodokuna. Suddenly all the pain disappeared. Filled with eagerness, I accepted the task, and like a rocket, I launched into the air, propelled by happiness. Throw a party? That is the most easiest job ever! As I floated down, I thought about where Twilight was going as I saw her walk away without saying goodbye. How can she not be excited about this? When I finally landed, I went straight to work, deciding that this will be the best welcoming party ever! > 03 - Fluttershy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I was taking my daily stroll with Angel, he suddenly bounced into Sugar Cube Corner. Concerned, I followed him inside. Instead of finding my pet bunny, I was met with a surprise hug from a nearby lamp. Paralyzed out of fear, I started breathing in and out heavily. A familiar voice sung through my ears. "Welcome, welcome, welcome! A fine welcome... Oh. You're not Kodokuna." With a disappointing sigh, Pinkie Pie released me and removed the lamp shade from her head. Helping me up, she explained as to what she was up to. "A Wolf? Where is this Kodokuna?" Pinkie simply shrugged and told me that I was the 31st pony she surprised. Then again, as she told me, I was the only one that didn't run away. She congratulated me for being such a brave pony. Oh the irony. Well, if there truly is a wolf coming into Ponyville, I would love to meet him. I wonder when he'll be getting here. Also, how did Pinkie Pie manage to decorate all by herself? "Oh! Fluttershy! If you can do me a favor and ask Applejack if she can make cider specially for Kodokuna? That ought to make his day full of glee!" Agreeing to this, I quickly grabbed Angel from the snack bar and (slowly) trotted to Sweet Apple Acres. > 04 - Applejack > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What's that girl? You want me to create Cider for only one pony?" Puzzled, I saw Fluttershy shook her head and mention sometihng about a wolf. I don't know about y'all, but I've had my fair share history of timber wolves. Seeing the anger in my eyes, she shook her head, and said it was only a normal wolf and nothing more. She then decided to go into detail. "We're supposed to welcome a wolf? When we're you told about this?" She answered. "Just today? Do the others know about this?" An embarrassed silence filled the air. I put my hoof over my face. As it slid down, I agreed to create one special cider for this Kodokuna. Fluttershy smiled, and left. I came up to the closest apple trees, and kicked it out of frustration. Most of the apples fell out of the tree. Why didn't Twilight personally inform all of us about this welcoming assignment? How were we not in any way involved in this? I oughta remind her that we are her friends after all. As I looked up at the sky, a colorful figure was sleeping on the clouds. > 05 - Rainbow Dash > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Rainbow, you dun told me you were too busy to help me!" Blargh. Must Applejack bother me now? With reassurance in my voice, I yelled out that I was taking a break from cloud busting. There. That oughta keep her hay hole shut. I snuggle back into the soft, gray cloud. "Rainbow, I represent the element of Honesty, and I know you just dun lied." This deeply irritated me. Cringing onto my floating cushion, I asked what she wanted. She said Twilight had failed to inform all of us about her latest mission from the Princess. The Egghead? Since when did the mare who spent reading books all day long ever inform us about anything? Never, that's what. We're always there when ever something drastic is happening here in Ponyville. And if we're not, that's because it's some stupid written report about learning about friendship. I expressed my thoughts with 'caring' words. She proceeded to tell me about how Twilight is supposed to welcome someone to Ponyville. See? Stupid report about friendship. Now why in the hay would she need all of us for that? "It involves a wolf..." And I care because...? "...named Kodokuna." Now that really caught my attention. Sitting up, I pondered as to where I heard that name before. Kodokuna. Oh. No. Oh no no no no no no no no no no no no no. Why is he coming here to Ponyville? "Are you up yet? Listen, I'm going to grab Fluttershy once I finish making this Cider. I want you to go and find Rarity, and meet us at Sugar Cube Corner. Don't be late." With a heavy sigh, I shot through the sky. Now how am I supposed to find Rarity? She's always somewhere being... Duh. I'll just be on the lookout for anypony with a ridiculous dress on... > 06 - Rarity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I couldn't stop trembling. Had the Princess honestly thought I was up to such a task? Kodokuna. How do I force myself to love one with false intentions? As directed by the message, I tore up the message and threw it away. Not even the royal seal that intended to keep the letter shut from the common eye remained to be legible. Even the Princess herself must know that this was cruel, and that by me attempting to accomplish this... this harsh mission was breaking not only the magic of friendship, but what I represent. Generosity. No. I must. I must... The sound of the door bashing nearly tipped me over. It was Rainbow Dash. She told me that we had to greet a wolf named Kodokuna. I told her that I was shocked that no one had informed me previously and that I was simply furious. With sarcasm in her voice, she told me that even if someone did, I wouldn't have cared anyhow. She grabbed my hoof, and in an instant, we were flying in the air. Must everyone think that I care only about fashion? That I'm cold hearted and think of my own feelings and not those of others? That I'm just some whiny, dramatic damsel? I only wanted to be loved was all... For others to see that I'm no ordinary pony. I wanted to be different. To be extraordinary. To be appreciated. Simply... to be remembered, and never forgotten. Because I'm more than certain that being a forgotten memory is far worse then death itself. Which is why I must carry on with this assignment. I only hope that in time, I will be forgiven for my actions. As we near Sugar Cube Corner, I let out a huge sigh, and tried my best to put my best smile on. > 07 - Spike > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ah, found it! A page on Blood Diamonds. Before I can personally hand it to Twilight, she snatches the book from me. She seems more irritated than usual. I can see it in her sullen eyes. Her endless quest to please the Princess however possible. Maybe I can bake her a personal cake to make her feel... "...these blood diamonds are..." Ah, diamonds. The most exquisite of all gems. Not only known for their beauty and value, but to me as a dragon, their delicious taste. Although they are quite hard to find, I've discovered one that I haven't been quite able to sink my teeth into. As if her name didn't fit her description really well. A true Rarity. From the moment that I first laid my eyes on her, to even this very moment, my stomach has been aching for her. No other gem can possibly fill my hunger for her love. If only I could somehow show her... But everypony knows that interspecies love is against the rules. Why must I be a dragon... "SPIKE! We're you even listening?!" Startled, I tried my best to piece together what Twilight was even remotely talking about. She could see from my blank stare that I wasn't listening, and with a disappointed face, retold what information she had just learnt. With a half-mind, I wonder if Zecora can somehow use her magic for me to appear more appealing to Rarity. "...Got it?" "Uh, sure Twilight!" "Seriously Spike? So what exactly are we going to do right now?" "We're... uh... going to see Zecora to discuss what she knows about the Blood Diamonds." Her expression quickly switched to a surprised look, and immediately after, to an embarrassed stance. She apologized and offered to reconcile by offering me one spell within her capabilities. Score one for the Spikester. > 08 - Queen Chrysalis > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fools. All of them. As if I couldn't escape from my own castle.* "My Queen, what am I to do with the remains of this fake Pinkie Pie?" My snarls quickly answered his idiotic question. Men. Why must they be all imbeciles? The very thought of them... My heart skipped a beat. I've only been in a relationship once. And yet... "Hey, look! Queen Chrysalis is blushing!" With swift action, I quickly grabbed that minion by the throat, and held him over where that moronic Twilight blasted a hole in. It was a high enough drop to deeply injure him. He desperately begged me to let go of him. I smiled and said: "Wrong choice of words." Shooting his wings off with my magic, I let go of him and watched as he hit the floor. Blood was flowing from his body, but one can tell that he was still alive. Without turning around, I asked if any changling wanted to join him. "No, your majesty!" Fear. Something men are always prone to. With a few giggles, I went to figure out a plan on how I was going to take over all of Equestria... > 09 - Princess Celestia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As if. > 10 - Kodokuna > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Laying beneath the starry night, I wonder if I'll ever fit in town known as Ponyville. I frowned. Not even my own pact wanted me. They couldn't be around with one who is a declared pacifist. I positioned myself more comfortably in the rough grass. Celestia promised me that I would be welcomed with open arms tomorrow. I wonder as to why she promises such things. I've seen others less fortunate than me, and yet she decides to approach me. As to what stake does she have in this affair? My ears perk as bushes nearby rustle profusely without a simple breeze to push them to do so. > 11 - Twilight Sparkle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Twilight, we better hurry. It's already dark." Agreeing to this, I briskly hurried home with the thoughts of Zecora's wisdom spinning through my head. Once I arrived home, I turned down Spike's request to sleep early, and quickly wrote down Zecora's premonition: "The beginning of the end is near, beware, Brought to us by an unsuspected mare, Blood Diamonds she'll be surrounded by, Innocent ponies everywhere will die. This prophecy will always stay as a fact, Unless one were to go and fight back, Then most will be safe and sound, Happiness and Joy will be found. But beware of the consequences, This outcome will be full of messes, A dear and close friend will end up dead, Simply due to the three words a wolf had said." I could barely contain the anger inside me. This was no mere coincidence. The wolf in Zecora's rhymes had to be the exact one Celestia is trusting me to befriend with. I searched through my whole library, looking for another book on 'Blood Diamonds'. I didn't find one until the birds started chirping their early calls. I am to pick up Kodokuna soon. I look around the treehouse to find my floor covered in scattered books and hope that Spike wakes up early to clean up the mess. With the book floating in front of me, I depart my home, and alone enter the Everfree Forrest.
