> Another Day in Paradise > by Pinkie'sReincarnation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prolouge > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear diary, Well, that would be the last bag. I'm heading off on my dream vacation. All the girls gave their good byes last night, for I'm leaving so early. They're so darling, I couldn't ask for better friends in all of Equestria. Twilight, that silly girl, gave me a volume of novels for the flight. How will I ever read a whole volume of books on such a short trip? One book shall suffice. "Be safe sugar-cube," was all Applejack said. "Party hard!!!", that was obviously Pinkie. Rainbow Dash asked to report to her how the waves were. I offered Fluttershy the opportunity to join me, but she declined. OH! That's the coach, I've got to go. ~Rarity > Day 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 1 Dear diary, I have been on this flying carriage for a very long time now. I am now regretting accepting those books from Twilight. I did, however, become acquainted with the pegasi drivers. Storm Twirl, and Lightning Tumble, very nice colts if you ask me. Storm Twirl has been in this occupation for 5 years and has met some very interesting ponies. Lightning Tumble, he on the other hand is very young and quite reckless. He nearly ran us into a rain cloud!!! That would have initially ruined my mane! We're almost there Storm Twirl told me. Thank Celestia. ~Rarity As soon as I returned my diary to its rightful place, a shadow overcame the carriage. "I certainly hope it doesn't rain," I whined. "That's not a rain cloud," Lightning Tumble looked up. I looked up and realized my mistake. The shadow as I thought it was, actually was a shadow! A very large solid looking one at that. I braced myself for the worst and felt the thing collide with the carriage. The last thing I remember I was careening towards the ocean screaming. > Day 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 2 Dear diary, I woke up on a sandy beach with Lightning Tumble standing over me. I got up and immediately asked him where Storm Twirl was. "He's out looking for shelter," he answered. I am very worried. I'm stranded on a desert island with two dashing pegasi. I don't even want to think about what might happen. But I am still wondering what that shadow was, Lightning said he has no clue. I will ask Storm Twirl when he gets back. ~Rarity I decided to take a look around, not too far for that is unnecessary, Storm Twirl is already out looking around. The beach we are stranded on has white sand and a tropical forest starts about 6 or seven yards from the water. "Rarity," came a voice from behind me. I yelped, " For the love of Celestia! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" "Oh no," I turned around and saw Storm Twirl, "I'm sorry, I've just come back, and Lightning told me you had a question," "Ah yes," I started, "Have you the slightest idea to where we are?" "No," he chuckled. "Are we able to, ahem, get off this island by any chance?" I inquired. "Nope," Storm Twirl pointed his hoof at Lightning, " Genius here tried chasing that shadow, got both of our wings broken. Why?" "I thought I could catch it," Lightning Tumble cowered in Storm's glare. "Why? Why would you even try?!" Storm closed the gap between them. "I dunno," Lightning shrugged. "Now do you see why Mom and Dad stopped at you?" Storm shoved him. " Vaguely," Lightning shoved him back. "Do you even know what that means?" Storm head butted Lightning in the flank. "No," he admitted. "Not to be rude," I stepped between them, "But could you be so kind as to STOP FIGHTING?" "Sorry," they chorused. "Thank you," I started walking towards Storm, "Now Stormy, may i call you that? Did you find a shelter?" "Yes I did," Storm Twirl said, "It's not so far from here either, just follow me." Lightning got up and dusted off his sandy coat and we were off. Storm lead us through the thick jungle, all these nature things were getting in my way! Ugh! I got mud on my hooves and now I have to jump over a river! What does Storm think I am an athlete? I leaped to the first stone. I have to admit it wasn't so hard. The second stone, that was quite different on the other hand. I landed on it, but I regret to say I overlooked the moss covering the surface. I slipped and fell into the river screaming. "Help! Help!" I flailed my forelegs. "Rarity, stand up," Storm sighed. I obeyed his order and to my surprise the water was only about 4 inches deep. "Oh," I blushed, "That is embarrassing," and with that I walked out of the river sopping and red. We continued with our journey and it ended at the mouth of an enormous cave. "Welcome to your temporary home you guys," Storm sounded drained. "Oh how lovely," I was concerned for Storm, "Storm do us a favor and lie down before your legs give out from beneath you, hmm?" "Aye-aye captain," he didn't even need persuasion, he collapsed right there. "Now Lightning, help me get some fire wood and we'll build a fire," I took charge. "No problemo, Princess," he sauntered towards the woods. "Please, I will tell you this once, do not call me 'Princess' again if you wish to live another day," I threatened. "OK," Lightning shrugged. "Thank you," I headed toward the forest. 5 minutes later we had quite a pile of wood and I started a fire using only a few of the logs. There was nothing to cook so we had to go without a dinner, but we will go scavenging tomorrow, that is for sure. my eye lids became heavy watching the fire. So I got myself up and shuffled into the cave and collapsed in between Lightning and Storm and fell into the deepest sleep I've ever had in my life. > Day 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 3 Dear Diary, I woke up early to get a head start, but apparently I was not the only one to think to do that. Lightning Tumble was out and about tending to the fire. He said we should wake up Storm and go back to the beach to see if we had anything salvageable. It seems that nothing was, so we determined that the wisest way to spend our not so precious time to look for anything edible on this island. Thank Celestia there were at least some reasonable coconuts and papayas. We then returned back to camp with some very crudely fashioned baskets. For some reason the colts thought it'd be funny to throw me in the river! The nerve! I nearly drowned again! They obviously thought it funny enough to laugh. I have nothing more to say on that matter. ~Rarity I placed my diary on the ground near the fire and glared at the colts. They both gave this look of innocence, but I could see right through that. I stood gracefully and walked over to where they were sitting. "Care to tell me what is going through your minds?" I asked nicely. "She thinks we're planning something," Lightning whispered to his brother. Storm's laugh rang out like a bell, "That's how all mares work," "How is that, dear brother?" Lightning leaned in closer to Storm. "They always think we are up to something," Storm whispered in Lightnings ear, loud enough for me to hear. "Oh," I flipped my mane over my shoulder, "Are colts so different?" "No," Storm snorted, "We're too spontaneously random," "Well I'd like to tell you mares can be just as random," I countered. "Prove it!" Lightning challenged. "Alright I can do th- PONY PILE!!!" I leaped on them and we wrestled like animals. I know it is completely unlike me, but I couldn't help it. If no one stood up for us mares who would? I felt multiple hooves in my flank, but that's alright, because I felt some face under my hooves. We tumbled into rocks and trees it may have hurt if we were not laughing so hard. My ear, that silly colt, Lightning, for some Celestia damned reason bit it. "Time out!" I called with Lightning still attached to my ear, "What are you doing?" "Ya know," Lightning mumbled through a mouthful of ear, "Ears really aren't that tasty," "I have a proposal," I tried standing but with no prevail with Lightning still attached to me, "Why don't I make us some dinner, hmm? I could try and concoct something tasty," "Good idea," Storm kicked at Lightning, who still had a hold on my ear, "Lightning, let Rarity go," "Fine," he sounded very indignant, "I lied about the ear thing, they actually taste pretty good," he winked at me and I rolled my eyes. "You colts go wash up and dinner will be ready," I said and I watched them crash through the brush. I got 3 papayas and 3 coconuts and, I'm so thankful for hooves, cracked them all in two. We had no knife so I placed a sharp stone in the water we had boiling over the fire, in the only salvageable item from the wreckage of the carriage: a bucket. I sliced the papaya with the stone and placed one sliced papaya in 3 coconut halves, perhaps we could find some further use for them. It's no five star meal, but we could not afford to be picky. We are on this island with no knowledge of how long we were to be on it. "What's for dinner?" came a call from the trees. "Papaya slices and coconut milk," I returned an answer. "Sounds nice," Lightning emerged from the foliage. "Good, because you're eating this, and not my ear," I gave him a friendly nudge. Storm returned and I placed a coconut half in front of each of them. We ate in silence. It was quite odd seeing as we were so talkative earlier that day. "Rarity," Storm stood once he was finished, "That meal was probably the best I've had in years, thank-you," "You're quite welcome," I nodded and it was back to business, "What shall we do with these coconut shells?" "I suppose we could save them for later," he scratched his head, "We might need them," "I'll wash them and find a safe hiding place," I took the coconut half he held in his mouth, and our eyes locked. Just for a moment. I looked away and blushed. What is happening?! I can't do this I thought as I collected the rest of the coconut halves. I walked to the river with them and I thought thoroughly on the matter at hand. The river was cold, but the job got done. What an I going to do? I asked myself, I know what that feeling was back there. I cannot be falling in love in these circumstances. When I fall I fall hard and the pain is immense. I know, it's happened to me before. I decided on leaving the coconut halves in a crevice be side our cave. I walked into the cave and thought back on the days events, when I remembered our little 'tumble', it reminded me of my appearance. I must look like a ruff and tumbled pegasus, no offense to Lightning or Storm, but it is true. I started smoothing my mane immediately. "Why fix your mane?" Lightning walked into the cave. "I, as you should know, live up to very high standards," I explained, "Unlike some ponies," "What can I say?" he shrugged, "I'm a slob," I laughed, and we continued conversing until it got dark. "Go to sleep," Storm mumbled, when our conversation turned to thoughts, I'm not going into details. "Alright," I giggled, "Goodnight you two," Lightning rolled closer to me, "Goodnight," he whispered in my ear. I fell asleep smiling, I'm glad I was stuck on this island with Storm and Lightning, I wouldn't have it any other way.
