How would you cope with your brother falling for your idol?
Twilight has just recently become a princess and Rarity's cousins, shortly after, are coming to visit Rarity.
Feather Dust and Rarity have never gotten along. Lightningmoon would love to meet her. But when he does, he develops feeling for her that he hadn't expected to get.
But who will be rejected when a jealousy act goes wrong?
"No! No! NO! I can't believe it!" Rarity was Pacing in her boutique when the newly formed Twilight arrived with the other four friends behind her.
"Rarity! Calm Down! What's going on?"
"My cousin! That's what! She's coming here!"
The over energetic pony had never been so excited! "Another pony! Another party! YAY! This will be the best party EVER!"
"No! Pinkie Pie you will NOT have a party for this wretched pony! She's worse than nightmare moon herself!"
Twilight raised hoof about to correct her but Applejack was the first to say "Actually Night Mare Moon is now Princess Luna!"
"WHATEVER!! I do not care! She's evil I tell you! No pony can welcome her she'll just ruin all of our lives!"
"The train! Maybe that's her!" The small pink mare pranced out the door to the train station.. of course in the wrong direction.
"She can't be that bad, sugar cube."
"But she is!"
"Rarity, would you mind telling us how she's so 'wretched'?"
Rarity looked down at her hooves and started to dig at the ground.
"We have always been enemies, when we were little she'd always take away MY spot light, we both are great designers but we design in different ways, I design dresses while she designs houses and anything else but dresses. All I can do is fashion, and she can do anything but! We're the same but different, don't be fooled by her looks, she may be gorgeous but she's evil! She has never came to visit me, but all o f sudden is! You must help me find out why she's coming. Oh! before i forget in my note she sent an invite to a major party in the castle! What ever will I do!"
After these words, Rarity 'faints'.
"Rarity, maybe she really wants to be close to you, don't second doubt her, she could have changed."
"Likely story! But that would NEVER happen!"
"give her a chance Rarity!"
"Don't you think it's a little odd that she's coming two weeks after YOU became a princes!"
"Excuse me! Rarity, I have nothing to do with this she is your cousin! Not mine!"
Twilight was obviously mad after Rarity outburst.
Fluttershy stayed with Rarity, to talk to her about giving her cousin a chance while Applejack and Rainbow Dash left to calm Twilight down.
"I can't believe it! I am going to me the new Alicorn princess! I mean, I am going to right? Rarity won't keep me from seeing her friends, will she? O well! If she does I can find a way around her!"
"Are you almost ready feather?" Her big brother Lightning Moon was calling to her.
"Yeah come on in. I need help!"
Feather Dust and Lightning Moon have always been close and they helped each other with every problem.. well, almost
"What do you need help with?"
" I need you to tell me which dress I should wear."
"I'm sure Rarity or Sweetie Belle aren't going to care."
"Lightning! I'm going to be meeting royalty! I have to look my absolute best!"
"What makes you so sure of that?"
"Rarity is friends with princess twilight"- Feather Dust got in Lightning's face while yelling-"I'm going to meet her no matter what!"
"Twilight!"
"Yes! The newly formed alicorn. I have to meet her!"
"So do I little sis! Come on, Let's go!"
Feather Dust looked at Lightning, puzzled. "What?"
"My friends and I all LOVE her! I have to meet her! I'm staying at Rarity's too."
Feather Dust and Lightning Moon sprinted to the train station. They got there a little early. About two hours early.
Every pony who walked by looked at the small pink mare who was sitting on the bench with her big brother, the blue and yellow stallion. The markings on both unicorns were gorgeous no pony could keep there eyes off of them. Feather Dust is a hot pink unicorn with a white curly mane and tail,with a pink strip. She has swirly white marks on her muzzle, cheeks, and legs her cutie mark is a pink feather with sparkles around it. Lightning Moon is a Navy blue pony with spiked yellow mane and tail with blue at the ends. He has a yellow muzzle and yellow marks on his neck and legs, his cutie mark is a yellow crescent moon.
The train came after a very long conversation between Lightning and Feather. They were the first ones on the train so it took another 10 minutes for all the passengers to board. But to two impatient waiting ponies that seemed like 10 decades.
While the six ponies were waiting for Feather Dust. Pinkie Pie welcomed every pony coming in and the ponies new to Ponyville bowed to Twilight. This, of course made Twilight feel awkward but she said thank you anyway.
Two ponies came running up to the six friends yelling "RARITY!"
"Hi! 'm Pinkie Pie nice to meet you!" Pinkie Pie was bouncing all around the two ponies who had just arrived.
Rarity was obviously confused, she wasn't expecting Lightning Moon to come along too. "These ponies are my friends, this is Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Twilight" Rarity said pointing a hoof at each pony. "Oh, and the bouncy one is Pinkie Pie." Rarity rolled her eyes as Pinkie Pie continued bouncing. "This is Feather Dust and Lightning Moon."
"Welcome to Ponyville!" Twilight shook both of the ponies hooves.
"Are you a princess?" Feather Dust asked, obviously knowing the answer.
"Why yes I am, but please treat me like just another pony."
The eight ponies walked in a line catching up. Lightning was stand next to Twilight then Rarity on the other side of Twilight and Feather next to Rarity, Fluttershy next to Feather, Applejack next to Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash flying above them all.
"Girls; do you know where Pinkie went?"
"There was probably a fly away butterfly that caught her attention." Rainbow Dash said with sarcasm. Fluttershy perked up when a butterfly was spoken of.
When they arrived at the boutique, Pinkie Pie and Spike was there. Pinke Pie set up a party with her cannon to greet the two guests. Spike was there with a scroll.
The brother and sister thanked Pinkie Pie for the welcome party.
"Hey Spike, what's that?" Spike offered the scroll to Twilight, who grabbed it with her magic to read aloud.
Dear Twilight Sparkle,
You and your friends have been invited to the royal ball and before you fret, just know that any pony entering with you CAN enter, unless of course they're being searched for by the royal guard.Also, this is a formal ball so please dress accordingly. -Celestia
"Rarity this will be so much better than the invites I had!" Rarity looked annoyed by her cousin.
"Hey sis, I guess you'll have a real reason for that dress you brought." Lightning said, obviously trying to annoy his sister, although Feather Dust couldn't find out if he was trying to annoy her or impress Twilight.
As soon as Rarity heard dresses her annoyance went away and she began to pace. "Dresses! Girls, I'm going to have to make new dresses for us all."
"Why can't we just wear the dresses we did for the Grand Galloping Gala?"
"Applejack! I know you're not into fashion but you must know that you can't where the same dress twice. That is fashion cruelty!"
"Hey Rarity why don't you help to make me and Feather Dust formal attire too, that way we all look our best, plus it could be a bonding time for us all to get to know each other."
Twilight was obviously happy. "That'd be great, Rarity!"
Rarity obviously didn't want to spend nay more time with Featherdust than she already was. "But.. You just said Feather Dust brought a dress we wouldn't want it to go to waste."
Feather Dust looked a bit upset. "Well, I did, but I don't know if it's fit for a royal ball."
Rarity thought for a little while. "Okay, Ill do it. With on exception!"
"Sure what is it?"
"You ALL must be here while I'm making them."
Later that day, after all ponies did their duties.
All the ponies were entering the boutique.
Rarity was obviously ready for business "Okay girls, we all must get along during this, so NO arguing!"Rarity looked directly at Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
While Rarity started with Applejack the other ponies were talking. Feather Dust and Twilight were in the corner talking about what it's like to be an alicorn. Pinkie Pie was chatting with Fluttershy. While Rainbow Dash and Lightning Moon were talking.
Rainbow Dash was flying next to Lightning staring at his cutie mark. "You are a unicorn."
"Yes... and?"
"What do YOU have to do with a moon, there are only two ponies who control the sun or moon and they're both princesses." By this time Rainbow Dash was on the ground circling Lightning.
"I don't control anything" Lightning was obviously irritated by Rainbow Dash
"Then what is your talent lightning?"
Applejack was also getting irritated by Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow! Leave the stallion alone! If he wanted you to know he'd tell you. He doesn't have to give you answers." Applejack starting moving in place.
With Applejack moving the way she was, Rarity poked her with a needle by accident.
"Ouch!"
"Hold still! or the next time it WON"T be an accident." Applejack just rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"I appreciate it, Applejack but I don't mind the questions but I do mind when ponies are rude!" Lightningmoon and Rainbow Dash were forehead to forehead, obviously in position to battle
"I said no arguing Rainbow Dash!"
Rainbow Dash backed down in shame. Then Lightning continued, "I'm an expert with the stars and moon. THAT is why my flank has moon on it!"
Twilight then perked up hearing that he's an expert on the stars and moon. "Hey Rarity! Would you mind if he stayed with me tonight! Oh, of course! Also if he wants to."
"Go ahead, but no pony is leaving until I'm done."
"Are you okay with it Lightning?" Twilight asked smiling at him.
"Yeah, of course!"
"Great we'll go back to the library as soon as Rarity is done."
Feather Dust stood up and ran over to Lightning Moon. "Can I have a word with you?"
Lightning was obviously annoyed since Twilight was standing so close to him. "Sure" Lightning gave feather an agitated glare.
"Outside!"
*Sigh* Lightning followed Feather Dust outside.
"Whoa filly! What just happened?" Applejack asked. While Twilight flopped to the ground upset, and sighed. "I don't know."
Fluttershy slowly walked over to Twilight and timidly asked, "What's wrong?" So Twilight explained her newly developed feelings.
Outside:
Featherdust was obviously irritated by her big brother. "WHAT are you doing?"
"What do you mean, Feather?"
"Lightning! I can't believe you'd be so selfish!"
"I don't know what I did Feather, whatever it is, I didn't mean to make you mad" Lightningmoon's ears went down, upset and confused.
"You can't stay with Twilight! Why would you even say yes?"
"Feather! I came here to meet her, I want to get to know her. Not just because she's a princess, though. Did you realize they way she perked up when I told Rainbow Dash my talent, maybe, by the end of this visit she'll like me as much as I like her."
"I want to get to know her too!"
"If it's such a big deal, I'll tell Twilight I can't stay over there."
Feather's ears also were down now. "No, go. You deserve to be happy too."
Feather Dust was still upset but she didn't want to to talk to her brother anymore so she went back inside, by then Rarity was done with all the other dresses, It was her turn.
It was getting late so all the other ponies had to leave. Rarity let them but she had to finish them all tonight to get started on orders tomorrow morning. When Featherdust was done she went upstairs to the guest bedroom where her and Lightning Moon were sleeping.
"Twilight, while you're still here could you go get Lightning?"
"Yeah, sure"
Lightning Moon was laying down looking at the stars when Twilight came out. "Hey Lightning are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Just thinking."
"Okay, well it's your turn to get fitted."
Lightning stood up and began walking inside.
"I'm going to be out here. While you get fitted." Lightning didn't say anything he just smiled.
Rarity started but she usually does not make tuxedos. So it took longer than the dresses. "Hey could you pick a color for the inside, Pick one that fits you, I'm going to step outside to talk to Twilight."
"Yeah, no problem."
Lightningmoon looked around at the dresses Rarity made that night, he knew which one had to be Twilight's so he picked the color that matched her dress.
Outside:
Rarity was obviously worried when Twilight looked at her. "What's wrong, Rarity?"
"It's Feather Dust."
"What happened?"
"Nothing yet. But she has never been nice to me, and when she has it never lasted this long. I think she's planning something."
"Rarity, I'm sure she's not going to do anything to any of us. She probably changed."
"Twilight please believe me, you remember, the wedding when no pony believed you. What if that happens again. It obviously won't be that big but please believe me. Something is strange about this visit."
"I believe you, we'll just have to keep our eyes on her."
"Thank you, Twilight" Rarity turned to go back inside.
"Okay Lightning, what'd you choose?" Lightning held up a light purple fabric.
"The same as Twilight's dress?"
"Yep, will that be a problem?"
"Of course not"
While Rarity was finishing the tuxedo for Lightning, Twilight walked in through the back door and couldn't help but blush. While Twilight was staring at Lightning Moon in his tuxedo, who noticed her looking but didn't say anything, Feather began to come downstairs to ask Rarity for another blanket. But she just stood at the top of the stairs and looked at the alicorn. Then, she walked all the way down the stairs, when Twilight saw her she fell out of the trance.
"Rarity, do you have any extra blankets? It's chilly upstairs." While talking to Rarity, Feather didn't take her eyes off of Twilight. While Lightning Moon was looking at Twilight he noticed she was uncomfortable and that's when he noticed the look Feather Dust was giving Twilight.
"Yes, dear, they're upstairs in the hall closet. Grab as many as you'd like"
Rarity now was done with the tuxedo.
"I'm going to bed, if you change your mind of staying with Twilight here's my extra key. I'll need it back though so don't lose it. Have fun, you two!
Twilight and Lightning then walked out the door and headed to the library.
" I have a room mate. .By the way, but don't worry he's very friendly."
"Who's your room mate?"
"He's a dragon, named Spike."
Lightning Moon has only encountered only one dragon, and it was not easy for him. The dragon was a teenager but he was very strong, he bit Lightning on the leg and it put him in the hospital for seven months.
Twilight recognized the silence. Then she realized some ponies are scared of dragons. "Are you scared of dragons?"
Lightning didn't want to seem like a foal but he also didn't want to lie to Twilight. Not only because he liked her but because he's heard many stories of a pony lying to a princess and usually the pony is imprisoned or slaughtered.
"Yeah. As much as I hate to admit it. I am"
"Don't worry, I won't think any less of you. Besides a LOT of ponies are scared of dragons, but trust me Spike is very nice, plus he's only actually spoken to other dragons once and he wound up coming back home with me. He's spent his life with ponies. He has never gotten into trouble besides on his birthday but that's a long story."
Lightning felt more comfortable after knowing this about the dragon but he still had one more question,"How old is this dragon"
"He's just a baby. But please don't call him dragon around him, he likes being called Spike and gets a temper when he's called 'dragon'."
"Okay, I'll have to remember that."
When, they arrived at the library and Spike was asleep on a stack of books.
"Is that Spike?" Lightning let out a chuckle
"Sure is!"
Twilight carried Spike with a purple aurora around her horn up the stairs and tucked him into bed.
Lightning was looking for stars through Twilight's telescope. It was to quiet so like any pony, small talk is what he went with.
"So what's your talent?"
"Magic"
Lightning took his eye from the eyepiece. "Well yeah, you're a unicorn. We all know magic."
"Well, yeah but my talent is magic. I can do just about any spell as long as I've learned it."
"Really? Have you ever learned any spells from my cousin." Lightning began looking through the eye piece once again.
"Yeah, I have. She taught me how to see gems that are underground."
"Really? I know how Rarity could use that spell but how could you?"
"Well, dragons LOVE to eat gems, so I dig them up to give to Spike, and that spell also came in handy when we rescued her from diamond dogs"
"Diamond dogs?"
"Pretty self-explanatory, they're obsessed with gems"
Lightning chuckled. "Hey come check out this constellation." While Twilight looked through the telescope Lightning just watched her.
"What's this one called?"
"Circunus"
"The drafting compass..."
"Excuse me."
"Oh, sorry. that's what Circunus means."
"Hmm, I didn't know that. How'd you know that?"
"I study a lot"
"The dictionary?"
"Is that weird?"
"No, not at all I've just not met any pony like you." Twilight's face turned red. Twilight backed away from the telescope as Lightning approached it.
It was silent for a while. "By that I mean... No pony really studies as much as you do. Don't take that wrong, that's a good thing. You're very smart." Lightning looked away and Twilight was right next to him, they wound up looking directly into one another's eyes. They both were blushing.
"So... You saved Rarity?"
"Yeah." Lightning didn't say anything back, obviously he found another star that interested him. He backed away and grabbed a book that Twilight keeps next to her telescope.
"You defeated an Ursa Major?"
"Minor, and I didn't 'defeat' it. I just got it back to it's mother." She was obviously embarrassed and was wondering how many ponies knew of that,
Lightning just smiled at her. "Come take a look at this Twilight"
"Hmm what's that?"
"That is Ursa Major."
Twilight was surprised. "Ursa Major is a constellation?"
"Yeah, did you know not that?"
"No, I can't say I did"
Lightning went back to looking at constellations and Twilight sat next to her bed watching him.
"So how did you get rid of the Ursa Minor?"
Twilight told Lightningmoon of the Ursa Minor, and by the end of it he had stopped looking through the telescope and was sitting next to Twilight.
"You had how many layers of aurora? Oh my! That must have been exhausting!"
"It wasn't to bad."
When that conversation ended they jumped from topic to topic.
While they were laughing and talking they heard a small roar. They both jumped and then laughed some more.
"I think we're waking up Spike." Lightning stated.
"It's getting late. Do you think we should get to bed?"
Lightning didn't look to happy. "Probably."
Twilight began looking around, puzzled. "Is everything alright?"
"I didn't plan where you could sleep. Oops!"
"I'll sleep on the floor you can have the bed"
"No I insist you sleep on the bed, you're the guest I don't want to be rude"
"Alright. I'll be waking up early to make breakfast what'll you want?"
"Anything you can make!"
"Alright, thanks for the input!" Twilight said sarcastically.
They both said goodnight. Lightning slept in Twilight's bed and Twilight slept down stairs on a palate she made on the floor.
Zzz...Zzz...Zzz...
Lightning woke up in the middle of the night to noise. Twilight was sleep walking up the stairs, she kept tripping over books that Spike hadn't put away. After tripping over three books. She began using magic in her sleep. She lifted herself up and placed herself in her bed next to Lightningmoon. Lightning hadn't thought much of this and then Twilight scooted closer to him and placed her head in the dip of Lightning's shoulder. Lightning did think much of this. But absolutely nothing bad. He liked it, and he wondered if she was dreaming about him. From what he knew, you only do stuff you're dreaming about. "Maybe she does have feelings for me." Lightning thought to himself, and smiled.
Twilight woke up early that morning like she said she would and made eggs and sausage. When she was done she began picking up all the books and the blankets she hadn't slept on. When she was almost done with breakfast she heard little footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Twilight! Are you here?"
"I'm in the kitchen Spike!"
"Twilight! Who's in your bed!"
"That's Rarity's cousin, you knew they were visitng her"
"I knew of Featherdust not, whoever that is! If he's here to visit Rarity then why is he here. In YOUR bed?"
"I invited him over, Spike it's okay."
Spike began freaking out until the blue stallion came down stairs. "Oh, good morning, I didn't know you guys woke up this early. I would've helped clean up... I'm Lightningmoon." He held a hoof up to Spike. Spike accepted the stallions hoof to hand shake.
"Don't worry you don't need to help clean up. Someone else was supposed to." Twilight looked at Spike with beady eyes and a smile.
Twilight used her magic to make Spike and Lightning a plate then placed it in front of each of them at a table, then made her own plate and carried it over with her.
After breakfast, Spike ran off to run errands and Lightning and Twilight stayed to chat.
"I'm so sorry if I made you uncomfortable last night, I swear I didn't mean to."
"Twilight, it's fine. To be honest I liked it."
"You did?"
Both Twilight and Lightning were blushing by this time. "I did like it, Twilight and I'm not going to deny it to you or any pony else."
Knock-Knock
Twilight went to answer the door but before she answered it, she looked at Lightningmoon and smiled. He smiled back with a wink.
When Twilight answered the door Feather Dust and Rarity were there smiling.
"Good morning, Rarity and Featherdust."
"Lightning we're going to town so Rarity can get new fabrics. Come on!"
"Yeah, hold on I'll catch up. Twilight and I were just talking. I'll be out in a second."
A blue aurora appeared around Lightning's horn as he closed the door.
Lightning ran up to Twilight once the door was shut and kissed her, there lips fit perfectly together. Then they nuzzled and left after a hug. "Twilight?"
Twilight was speechless after he planted one on her, but she managed to get out. "W..What?"
"After shopping with them tonight, could I come pick you up and you could show me around Ponyville?"
"Yes, I would like that." They exchanged smiles and then Lightning went outside to catch up to his sister and Rarity.
"Rarity, would you mind if Twilight and I were to date?"
"Cousin, why would I mind?"
"She's your friend, I didn't want to make you upset."
"Just be good to her, , That's all I can ask."
"what about you sis?"
"Yeah, I'm fine with it" Even if Feather Dust wasn't fine with it she didn't want to make a big deal about it in front of Rarity.
Twilight was hitting her head on the picnic table outside of Sweet Apple Acres saying "I'm so stupid!" waiting for Applejack to get done harvesting apples.
The little orange country pony came up to Twilight. "What's going on?"
"I'm so stupid Rarity is going to be so mad."
"What happened sugar cube?"
"You know how I asked for Lightning Moon to stay over last night?"
"Oh Golly! You didn't" Twilight cut her off "I didn't do that, Applejack. but I did something much more embarrassing"
"What happened then?"
"We were up all night talking and giggling. While in the moment, I didn't even think about not having an extra bed for him so I slept on the floor in the library and he slept in my bed. But that's not where I woke up!"
"Where'd you wake up?"
"I woke up in my bed snuggle up into Lightning's shoulder. I don't even remember how I got up there!"
"Well, Sugar cube You are part unicorn doesn't your horn tend to take you to what you're dreaming about?"
"Yes and he has to know that, he's a unicorn too. What if he didn't feel the way I do and he just felt forced to kiss me?"
"Wait he kissed you?"
"Yes, Rarity is going to be so mad!"
"I doubt that, and I'm sure he has feelings for you too or else he wouldn't of just let you lay on him, he would've gotten up"
"Oh Applejack, What do I do, I like him A LOT and if he doesn't then I just made it awkward for the both of us, and I'll lose a friend!"
"You are not going to lose any friends sugar cube. Rarity won't get mad at something like this besides, she likes romance, you know that, she'll be happy for you."
"But it's her cousin!"
"I'm sure she'll just be happy for you, cousin or not."
"What if she doesn't"
"Twilight, don't stress the future."
Twilight didn't say anything after that.
"After that night you had last night, Did he ask you to see him again?"
"Yeah when he gets done shopping with Rarity and Feather Dust, I'm supposed to show him around Ponyville... Oh my! When does Rarity usually get done shopping for fabrics?"
"That's good he must like you! And usually after like two hours."
"Oh no! I have to go or I'll be late."
"See you later sugar cube. You wont be so late if you fly!
Twilight lifted off with her wings but she isn't the best flyer yet so it took a little bit for her to get straightened out.
Twilight was in a hurry to get back to the library to meet Lightning Moon. She was flying to fast and she hadn't yet stuck a landing. She saw Lightning whom distracted her, which made her crash right into the canopy layer on the tree.
THUD!
"Hey, Twilight. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine.." Twilight stood up struggling.
"When I said I'd pick you up, This is not what I had in mind." Lightning said while helping Twilight get up. They both laughed at Lightning's sarcasm.
Twilight was blushing as she made an excuse. "I'm still getting used to my wings." Twilight was obviously embarrassed.
Lightning could tell she was embarrassed, He put his arm around Twilight and told her it was okay while kissing her next to the horn.They both were now blushing as they began the tour of Ponyville.
Back at the boutique
Rarity was hard at work, she was making dresses like she had told her friends she would. She stepped outside to get some leaves that a pony had requested. While she was outside, Feather Dust was inside taking all of Rarity's gems and sneaking them to the library to give to Spike. When Rarity came back few gems were left on the ground and Feather Dust was gone along with her gems.
Rarity was obviously mad as she yelled Feather's name.
In the library
"Here Spike, I brought you a present."
"O how nice of you.. um.. Feather?" Spike obviously hadn't remembered the ponies name.
After Spike took them Featherdust began to go back to the boutique when Spike stopped her.
"Hey! Aren't these Rarities?" Spike recognized the gems from the many times he had been at the boutique with Twilight.
"Yea, she told me to bring them over to you."
"Oh, well I better go tell her thanks." Spike stood up to head over to the boutique.
"NO! You cant! I mean she's busy. I'll tell her you said thanks." Spike didn't like this but he did not want to argue with the pony.
Back to the tour
"Twilight!"
Twilight and Lightning looked back to see Rarity running to them, she was obviously mad about something.
"What's wrong Rarity?"
"Feather Dust! She took my gems!"
"Whoa! Hold up Rarity my sister would not do that!"
"Yes! She would! Your sister is not a little princess like you all expect her to be!"
"Rarity! I know you guys have had your differences in the past but she was really looking forward to coming here. She has missed you and she wanted to meet your friends!"
"She wanted to meet my friends? You mean my princess friend! Isn't it a little weird that she wanted to see me shortly after my best friend had become a princess! Don't think I didn't realize how mad she was when you asked her if she'd be comfortable with you being with Twilight! I am not blind! She obviously just came for Twilight! NOT me!"
Lightning knew that all this was true but he didn't know what to say, but he was an honest pony and he had to tell the truth. Lightning's head was down as he started and Twilight was upset as Rarity was furious.
"Feather Dust has always wanted to meet a princess. I'm sorry, she took your gems. She told me she wouldn't do anything to you during this visit. I'll help you get your gems back."
Feather Dust came up behind Rarity as Twilight and Lightning looked directly at her, she spoke. "Thanks Lightning I thought you were my big brother! Good luck getting those gems back, I fed them to Spike!" Feather Dust began to cry and ran off.
"How dare she bring Spikey wikey into this!"
"I'll help you find more Rarity. I'm sorry I didn't believe you." Twilight began to walk with Rarity until she turned around to see Lightning standing there with his head down and pawing at the ground.
"Ill be right back Rarity!" Rarity stopped to wait for Twilight as Twilight ran back to Lightning.
"I'm so sorry Twilight"
"It's fine. Just go talk to Featherdust. I know how I get when my big brother doesn't go after me when I'm upset."
Lightning didn't know Twilight had a big brother but he smiled said thank you and ran the way his sister took off.
Twilight ran to catch up to Rarity. "Do you like him?"
Twilight was definitely not expecting to have this conversation with Rarity. "Yea.. I think I do"
"He likes you too, Twilight. He asked me earlier today if I'd mind if he asked you out."
"Really? What did you say?"
"I told him I don't care as long as he's good to you, which I'm sure he'd never be bad to you. I mean he's never lied nor had a girlfriend before."
"Never lied?"
"No, he's as honest as Applejack."
"That's good to know."
They arrived at the spot where Rarity collects her gems and collected nearly 1,000 before they left. Since it was short notice, they didn't have anything to carry the gems back so Twilight used her magic to carry them. When they got back into Ponyville, Lightning Moon and Feather Dust were there waiting for them. Twilight was obviously exhausted from using her magic so long. "Here, let me take that." Lightning took the gems from Twilight and carried them back to the boutique.
"I'm sorry Rarity." Rarity was reluctant to accept her apology but eventually she did.
"I wasn't mad at you Rarity, I was upset that Lightning was spending so much time with Twilight."
"Feather Dust, If you want me to spend time with you, I will. Just please don;t take any ponies stuff again... If you want you could stay at the library tonight."
"Um, actually I want to spend time with Rarity tonight. How about we spend the day together tomorrow?"
"That's fine with me."
Twilight helped to put the gems back where they go and then Lightning walked her back to the library. "I'm sorry about my sister, Twilight."
"It's fine. Don't be sorry"
Lightning smiled at her like he usually does. They talked a little longer and they arrived at the library they said goodnight, of course with a goodnight kiss and then departed.
Twilight awoke to the sound of a pounding at the door. She wasn't at all sure what pony it could be. 'I guess there's only way to find out' Twilight mumbled to herself as she slowly got out of the safety of her star and moon comforted bed.
The door was locked and like usual her thoughts were foggy in the morning. She tried many times to open the door before she realized it was locked.
Feather Dust's face lit up, well as much as it could before Celestia raised the sun, when she saw a purple aurora around the door knob.
Twilight opened the door to see an overly happy pony staring at her. "Good Morning, Feather Dust." Twilight barely got her words out through her yawn.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I wake you Twilight?" Feather Dust asked still to happy, but now with a little disappointment in her voice.
"Yea, you did but it's fine I needed to get up today anyway." Twilight was still obviously tired.
Feather Dust now bouncing around Twilight enthusiastically asked, "So what are we going to do today?"
Twilight was now a little more awake. "Whatever you want to do, Feather Dust?"
"Oh, sweet Celestia! There's so much I could think of for us to do! We could go shopping, or go to the mall! Oh, or maybe the spa! We could go to the boutique!"- Twilight interrupted Featherdust's seemingly endless chatter.
"How about we walk around Ponyville until you decide, Feather."
"Sounds good. Oh, and Twilight could you just call me Feather?"
"Of course I can!"
Twilight and Feather walked for a while until Feather finally recommended going shopping for Rarity. Of course, Feather wasn't going to stop at that. After Twilight and Feather shopped for Rarity, they went out to lunch at a place called The Red Phoenix it was pretty costly but being a princess the prices dropped to about half the original bit cost. . "Aren't you just so excited for the ball that is in two nights?"
Twilight began to blush and smile as she thought of Lightning Moon, his tuxedo Rarity had made for him and the dance she had wished to share with him that night. "Yeah, I'm pretty excited how about you, Feather?"
"You bet! I just can't wait!" There was an awkward, but nice moment of silence until Featherdust broke it. "Hey Twilight. Do you really like my big brother?"
Twilight's cheeks turned as red as the last tomato left in her salad.
Ever since Twilight became an alicorn it seemed like every pony, aside from the bearers of the elements, only wanted to know her because she was a princess. But it felt as if Lightning Moon hadn't even noticed she was a princess. It was almost like he-
Feather Dust interrupted her thoughts of Lightning by yelling "You do! You like my brother!"
That's when Red Phoenix got chaotic. At the sound of a princess crushing on a stallion, every pony who was there and then some rushed to the table to ask about the stallion the princess was crushing on. Questions came from every which way. "Where'd you meet him? Do you think he could your special some pony? Does he like you?" These were just the most frequently asked and usually that last question went off like a field of land mines. After the question 'Does he like you?' was asked, every pony put there two bits into it. "Of course he likes her, look at her!" "She's a princess, he has to!" Twilight despised it when the ponies made a big deal about her even if she did like the discounts she didn't like every word she said to be so.. well, public. When Featherdust noticed Twilight getting fed up with the questions she ran to the front door of The Red Phoenix and yelled "Hey Look! Its Photo Finish" All the ponies rushed to the door at the mention of the celebrity as one of the cooks let Twilight and Featherdust sneak out the back door.
Now, the two ponies were laughing at the scene other ponies made at The Red Phoenix as they walked around Ponyville. "Hey, Twilight do you want to go get our hooves and manes done together the night of the ball so you look your absolutely best for Lightning?" Featherdust playfully bumped Twilight's rump with hers, obviously teasing her about her hard to deny crush.
"I'd like that. Can the other girls come with us too?"
"Of course!" Featherdust didn't want the others there but she agreed since after all she did promise to be nice, even if her hooves were crossed behind her back, she could still play nice, at least.
It is the night of the Royal ball and every pony is ecstatic to see there pony friends or maybe friends who weren't only friends. Feather Dust, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie were all at the spa chatting with just about every pony there.
"Oh, Twilight, You're going to look absolutely perfect for Lightnin! I can't wait to see you out on the dance floor with him." Applejack spoke in her normal country tone.
"It'll be perfect for you both, I heard from some pony that he's got some special plans for you. I'd be excited if I were you!" Rarity knew of plans that Twilight hadn't known of. Which actually made Twilight even happier. It seemed every pony was excited for Twilight. Which just kept making Twilight blush more and more.
Back at the boutique:
While Feather Dust was spending time with Twilight the other day, Lightning Moon walked around Ponyville to meet the pony folk and while doing so, he met a pegasus stallion named Draco, who were now hanging out with Lightning before the ball. Both stallions were sitting in there tuxedos in a big red beanbag and a big blue bean bag playing trashketball with Rarities scrap fabrics.
"I can't believe you, of all people are going to a royal ball with Princess Twilight!"
"What's that supposed to mean Draco?"
"I'm way more handsome than you! I should be going with her!"
"Dude calm yourself! I thought you like Rainbow Dash?"
"I do! But we're just friends." Draco had his head down as he grabbed a ball of rolled up fabric and kicked it across the room.
"Maybe they'll be selling balls at the royal 'ball' so you can buy a pair" At first Draco wasn't sure what he was talking about.
"Are you sure you're not going with Twilight to cover up?"
Lightning Moon grabbed a gem from behind him and threw it at Draco's forehead which cause an all out gem war between the two. Until Rarity came in.
"Boys! What in Celestia's name are you doing with my gems?" Lightning forgot about how much they meant to her and he dropped it on queue with Draco, directly after, Lightning took his hind foot and pushed it behind the bean bag and they bot stood to face the white and purple unicorn as she rolled her eyes.
"Come on, you dimwits!" The two followed Rarity until they got on the carriage with the six mares. including Rarity, It'd be seven. Lightning was awestruck by Twilight's look he couldn't wait to get the ball so he could just hold her close.
Interrupting Lightning's thoughts Draco leaned over and whispered in Lightning's ear " How about we each get three of the friends and I'll take your sister." Knowing what Draco meant, Lightning believed Draco was a dimwit. In order, to let Draco know his opinion he shoved his left elbow into Draco's side, which hurt his wing worse than his side.
Rainbow Dash was obviously amused by her own thoughts as she said "Aw look at the two having there own little bromance! Maybe we all like guys in this carriage." Rainbow Dash was proud of the silence she caused as she held her head higher than the rest. Both Twilight and Lightning had there heads down, gently laughing to themselves, until shortly before they arrived at the castle.
Everyone was enjoying themselves. Many ponies were drinking punch and chatting. Rarity was not to fond of her cousin at this point who was laughing and sharing a drink of fruit punch with a handsome stallion named Prince Blueblood. Rarity was furious she thought she was much prettier than that witch pony! She just wouldn't stand for it. She only knew of one way to be sure none of her friends trusted her. Rarity then snuck out of the ball room and roamed the castle.
Twilight and Lightning were standing by the food table mainly drinking there punch, but it was very hard for them to have any time to themselves with her being the newest princess. Ponies came and talked to her all night long. The only time they got any time together was when the band played a slow song. The stallions swung and picked there mare up to dance. However, Lightning had a different way of doing it. He held a hoof to Twilight and let her place her perfectly fitting hoof into his before he asked "May I have this dance?" Of course the answer was yes and the ponies stood on there hind quarters and slowly danced together with Twilight's head in Lightning's chest. She just loved the way Lightning smelt, the sound of his heart\,how his muscular arms fit around her, and how safe she felt when she was with him. It was like this is how they belonged-together It was almost like magic. "Twilight, There is something I've been wanting to tell for a while." Twilight adored the sound of his voice it was so gentle and caring. "What is it Lightning?" Twilight was speaking much quieter and relaxed than she had intended.
Lightning slightly pushed away, lifted a hoof and put it under Twilight's chin to lift her and when he got it how he wanted he looked her directly in the eye and told her how much she meant to him. "Twilight, you are the most amazing mare in all of Equestria. I knew I would meet you while I was here. I wanted to meet you so bad and now that I have, I never want to leave your side. Twilight Sparkle, I love you." Twilight was speechless. She was blushing more than what she knew she could. She knew she had to say it back but she couldn't get the words out she just stared into Lightning's eyes in a trance. Until she finally got her words out. "Lightning, I love you"
After there confessions of love to one another Fluttershy ran up to Twilight, fast as Rainbow Dash flew. "Twilight!" Fluttershy yelled louder than anyone thought she could. "Wha.. What is wrong.. Fluttershy?" Lightning had a smirk he couldn't hide, he never thought he could make Twilight speechless like this. "Rarity! She's missing!" Lightning and Twilight looked at each other in shock and then back to the small buttered pegasus whose blue eyes were wide and worried, almost teared up. "It will be okay Fluttershy, we'll find her. Tell the other four!" Twilight yelled back at Fluttershy as she and Lightningmoon ran to find Rarity.
The ponies searched everywhere they could possibly think of, closets, bedrooms, the salon, the garden. "
"Where could she be?"
"Twilight I don't know but the moon's almost down. Once it's down we can't be here any more. We have t find a way to search the area better."
"How can we do that?"
Lightning thought for a short while until he had an idea. Once he thought of it Twilight interrupted him. "Where could the others be?"
"That doesn't matter Twilight, you have to fly and search the surroundings, look at anywhere she could have gone!"
"I don't know how to fly very well!"
"No! You can't land! By the time you need to, Rainbow Dash should be out here. You can do it Twilight!"
Twilight trusted him and she flew up into the sky to scope the surroundings as Lightning looked in the castle. While Twilight was scoping she spotted a small shed type looking thing that was decorated pretty well. "Wait, decorated? Oh no!"
Twilight went to report her findings to Lightning as fast as she could but not being able to land she flew directly into him and crashed on top of him.
