> Princess Luna Sings a Song > by RainbowFlash96 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Luna's Got Talent > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Oh, sister! This show is magnificent!!" Luna said clapping her hooves as she finished watching the latest season of Equestria's Got Talent. Celestia had insisted she watched the show, thinking that Luna would like it. She was right. Luna hadn't stopped watching the show for the past two months. Celestia was kind enough to let Luna borrow her brand new television. The engineering ponies gave Celestia a prototype, wondering if it was worth it to make more. Luna used it more than Celestia, so she just moved it into Luna's room. Celestia didn't really know how to work it, so she just put all of her memories of the show into the television with her magic. Much easier than constantly using her magic for Luna's delight. "Sister, you must tell me when this show will resume." Luna begged. "Well, Luna, the auditions don't start for another week." Luna's ears flopped, and her eye twitched. A lightbulb just went off in her head, and a huge grin spread across her face "You mean any pony can just audition for this show?" Celestia knew where this was headed. "Oh no. I'm not letting you audition for that show. The judges wouldn't even treat you fairly, they would let you win so they don't get banished." Luna rolled her eyes, "Come now, Tia, we don't banish anypony anymore." "Well, ponies act like we do." "Please?" "No." "PLEASE!" "No." "Please." "No." "Please please please, with a piece of cake on top?" Celestia's eyes widened and the corners of her mouth began to move up. She stopped herself quickly, and began to look around the room nervously. Sweat began to bead down her face. "A nice piece of cake. Oh, yes. A nice piece of vanilla cake, with chocolate icing on top and cream in the middle. Doesn't that sound good?" Celestia was close to breaking, but Luna needed one more thing to seal the deal. Luna made her way to her closet. She walked inside and pushed aside one of the boxes, revealing a small hidden door. There was an inscription on the door- Emergency cake for bribing Celestia with. Luna opened the door and grabbed a piece of cake from inside. Celestia was still standing where she was, thinking about what she should do. To take cake, or not to take cake? That was the question. Luna made her way back to Celestia, but happened to get a view of her rear. 'Is she getting fatter?' Luna thought. She came up behind her sister and waved the cake under her muzzle. Celestia tried to attack the cake, but Luna was ready. At the last second, she moved the cake from her sister's mouth. "No, no! First you have to say yes." "ALRIGHT! You can audition, but expect to get special treatment. Now can I please have the cake?" "Huzzah! I'm going to be on Equestria's Got Talent! And I know just what I'm going to do." Luna said, and hoofed the cake to Celestia. She happily scarfed it down. "I'm going to sing!" "Alright, Auntie Luna, I'll help you with your singing." Cadence agreed after many long minutes of begging from Luna. "Oh thank you, Cadence. We shall try our best!" Luna said. "Stop right there!" Cadence yelled, "The first rule of singing, make sure you know the lyrics. if you are going to start saying 'we' instead if 'I', I can't help you." "Is that really the first rule?" "No, but it is for you." "Fine." "You wanted to see me Twilight?" Luna hesitantly asked as she stepped into Twilight's chambers. "Yes, come in, Luna." Luna walked towards Twilight, and sat down about five feet away from where Twilight was. "I heard you've been practicing with Cadence for your audition." "Yes." "And I also know you're looking for a song." "Yes..." "I thought, since I have seen and analyzed each episode, I can help you pick a song that will utilize your singing ability and get you the highest chances of getting through to the next round." Twilight added with a smile. "Oh, thank you, Twilight." Luna said, a little shocked. "Now, you can sing in high ranges, but you can also handle low notes very well. I have gone through many songs, and have picked a song that I feel will show of your singing ability well." "I appreciate that, Twilight. What is the song?" "Luna, the audition is tomorrow. Are you ready?" Celestia asked. "Yes, sister, I think that I am most certainly ready." "Can I please know what you are singing?" "Absolutely not! It's a surprise. I made a few modifications to the song that I think you will enjoy." Luna said with a smile. "I hope she's ready." Twilight said. Twilight, Celestia, and Cadence were sitting in their own section of the theater. They had a good view of the stage, and were ready to cheer Luna on. Getting Princess Luna on the show was not as difficult as Celestia had previously thought. As a matter of fact, the ponies that ran the show were honored to have a Princess audition and three more in the audience. They even insisted all of the Princesses audition. Twilight almost accepted, but Celestia wanted Luna to have her moment in the spotlight. "Of course she's ready." Cadence said. "I hope your right. She wouldn't even let me pick a song for her. I did all of that research for nothing. I had the perfect song." Twilight complained. Cadence glared at Twilight, "W-what did you say?" "I said she didn't even pick my song." "That's impossible! We practiced the song you picked! She said you picked it!" All three alicorn glanced at each other nervously. "Then what song is she going to sing?" Celestia said while shaking. Before any of them could answer, the lights went out and stallion came on stage. "Welcome to the premiere of the fourth season of Equestria's Got Talent!" A round of applause followed. "I'm your host Cloud Smasher, and here are your three judges.... Alesha Bitson, Amanda Hayden, and..... Simon Coltwell!!!" All three ponies got up and waved to the cheering audience. "Now for our first contestant... Daisy Heart!!" The first couple of contestants were bearable, but by the twentieth pony, Celestia began to have a headache. "I cannot believe I found this entertaining." Celestia said while she rubbed her head. "Aw, Princess, it's not that ba-" Twilight was saying before she was interrupted by a high pitched screech. "I take that back. This is terrible." "That was probably the worst singing I have ever heard in my entire existence." Simon said, "I mean have you ever heard of a pitch, or a tune?" "You tried your best. I think you did a good job." Amanda said. "A good job? Are you mental?" Simon asked. He looked back up to the stage at the now crying and shaking contestant. "You're still here? Get off the stage, you are an embarrassment." It was another twenty or so ponies before Celestia almost lost it. Twilight and Cadence had to hold her back before Celestia did anything she would probably regret. Celestia was restrained by both Twilight and Cadence's magic, and her mouth was taped. Cadence and Twilight however, were having a pleasant conversation. "That Simon Coltwell is a real tough judge." Cadence said. "Yeah, and here I though all the ponies in Equestria could sing. I mean when anypony breaks out into song in Ponyville, all of the ponies there are perfectly in tune." Twilight said "You mean you just randomly break out into song and other ponies know what you are doing and follow you?" "Pretty much. Pinkie Pie even got some ponies to jump on roofs with her." Cadence just sat there with her mouth open. "Anyway," Twilight said changing the subject, "I hope Luna goes on soon, or she's going to be an issue." Twilight pointed to the struggling Celestia. "Yeah I ho-" "And now for our last contestant of the night." The host interrupted. All three alicorn gave a sigh or relief. "This is a very special contestant. Please put your hooves together for our very own.... Princess Luna!! "FINALLY!!!" Celestia yelled as she somehow broke out of Twilight and Cadence's grasps. Getting numerous 'sh's', Celestia embarrassingly sat back down. The stage went dark, except for a single spotlight. Slowly, Luna emerged from backstage and made her way to the center of the stage under the spotlight. Luna's eyes closed, the music started, and all three Princess's jaws dropped. At first I was afraid I was petrified Kept thinking I could never live without the moon by my side But then I spent so many nights thinking how I did you wrong And I grew strong And I learned how to get along and so I'm back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that scared look upon your face I should have changed that stupid night I should have made you leave your sun If I had known for just one second you'd be back to comfort me Luna started to step to the beat as she went to the refrain of the song, Go on now go walk out the door just turn around now 'cause you're not welcome anymore weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die Oh no, not I I will survive oh as long as i know how to love I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give and I'll survive We will survive... hey hey Luna slipped up, but nopony noticed. She just continued to the second verse, It took all the strength I had not to fall apart kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart and I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself I used to cry But now I hold my head up high and you see me somebody new I'm not that chained up Nightmare Moon who's still tryin to hurt you and so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free But now I'm saving all my loving for someone who's loving me Luna sang the refrain two more times before the final huge 'I will survive' at the end. She held the note for longer than she should, but she was in the moment. When she was done, there was an eruption of cheers and whistles. Everypony was cheering for the brilliant performance their Princess just displayed. Celestia, Cadence, and Twilight were all crying and cheering at the same time. Celestia was so proud of her sister, and glad she did this. Cadence and Twilight couldn't believe the song choice, and the revised text. Once the cheering died down, it was the judges turns to talk. "That was the most beautiful rendition of that song I have ever heard." Alesha said with tears in her eyes. Amanda was also crying, "I have to agree. I never knew you could sing like that. It was beautiful. Bravo." Simon was not crying. He just sat there, staring at Princess Luna. Even though she shouldn't have be, Luna was nervous for what he would say. "That was a very surprising and wonderful treat for my bleeding ears. I think you sang that song better and the original. If you were not a Princess, I would have signed you a recording contract right here, right now. You have a very beautiful gift, and I an honored to have heard it." That response from Simon was enough to make the crowd go silent. Then the whole room was full of cheers, but was interrupted by by Luna. "Excuse me, but may I say something?" "Of course." Cloud Smasher said. "Well, thank you first to the judges for the wonderful comments. Thank you Princess Cadence and Princess Twilight for your help, and finally thank you Celestia. Thank you for letting me be on this show. This was the best day ever, and it pains me to say this... I'm afraid I am withdrawing from this competition effective immediately. This has been wonderful, but as my sister said, it would not be fair to the other contestants. I also have my duties as a Princess, but I want to thank every pony that came here today and has supported me. Thank you all! And good night!" Luna exited the stage with cheering fans behind her. She found her sister, and gave her a hug. "That was beautiful, Luna. I am so proud of you." "Thank you Tia." "Did you want to give us both a heart attack?" Cadence said. Luna let go of her sister and looked sheepishly at Twilight and Cadence. "Oops. Sorry, I had this song picked out a long time ago, but Twilight put so much effort into finding me song that-" "Don't worry, Luna, it's alright. We don't mind, you did a wonderful job." Twilight said. "Thank you." "So now what?" Twilight asked. "I think we should relocate some ponies to Ponyville to teach them how to sing." Celestia said. "I don't know if they could bear it. I know I couldn't handel them for a few hours." They all shared a laugh, but Celestia was serious. Sometime later in Ponyville "Hey, Pinkie, did you remember those new ponies that came here a while ago?" Rarity asked "Yeah why?" "I'm pretty sure in the last song, they were way out of tune. It was a bit unsettling." "That was singing!? I just though one of Fluttershy's animals was dying." "WHAT!" Fluttershy yelled out of character. "Sheesh, Fluttershy, I think Pinkie was kidding. But yeah seriously, I even heard them. They stunk." Rainbow Dash said. "Maybe we should do something?" "I know! How about a Pa-" "NO! NO, PARTIES!!" Rainbow Dash yelled. "Aww..." "How 'bout we just teach them how to sing?" Applejack suggested. "That's a marvelous idea! Maybe we might even make some new friends!" Rarity said. "Cool. How about we ask Twilight if she wants to help?" Rainbow Dash asked
