I appreciate the melancholic conundrum presented by longevity/ immortality, the sharp sense of sorrow for those whom we love, who have shed their mortal forms. The loneliness that often accompanies those with longevity/ immortality. Then, the despair of making new friends, given that in time, they too will pass away, precious bonds shattered by the cruel impartiality of death. But, even in all that, there is hope, in her fellow immortals, and the companionship they share/ offer. And the appreciation of beauty, even after the passage of many years, and made the more poignant and precious, by the sadness and loneliness that loosing precious friends to the embrace of death. The character/ protagonist is made more beloved, by the trials and tribulations in some form or another, for a character that faces, in some way or another, issues/ problems/ dilemma that we face, we can relate and therefore love, than a protagonist that never struggles with any such issue/ problem/ dilemma.
