Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.

T

Roslindis is a griffon who doesn't like to fly. In fact she's never flown for her entire 26 years of life. She's quite happy with this fact.

Her mother? Not so much.

:trollestia:

Yay! Griffin story! And a comedic one at that. Kinda fits the lion's attitude, though I guess sharp pointy objects to the rear makes it funnier. Still, you'd think her wings had atrophied and she'd have probably crash landed.... but again, comedy. :rainbowwild:

I like. Series or one shot? I know it says complete... but I'd like to dream.

Excellent, short but sweet.

Had to post it before I edit-added my review. Honestly, never been first. I'll even put a gif to make it even more solid.

2456272 :twilightoops:

Well, I'll let you off.

It's a one-shot. However there's always a chance Roslindis will turn up in future stories. Maybe she's Gilda's aunt or something.

Are you planning in making your own griffin culture exploration? If so, original, or tied to Xenophiliaverse?

Damn rainbows. Flight hazards, the lot of them.

Have gryphons? will read.

And one week later Gertrude began to spend every available moment standing in Roslindis' doorway, sharpening her pike, waiting only for the doctor's approval. At least it would give Rosi time to paint her mother's portrait in the most guilt-inducing light possible, probably with a rainbow thrown in for good measure.
:pinkiehappy:

Not that it matters in the context of this telling, but I'm curious about what finally pushed Gertrude to stop stalling after twenty-four years, five months, four days, seven hours and 59 minutes...

2456422 Boom. Headshot. :rainbowdetermined2:

2456966 Genius, right there.

As for what triggered it? I haven't really thought about it. Presumably Gertrude got fed up of her friends in the leather-branding circle poking fun, or maybe finding another pile of Rosi's discarded arm feathers on the bathroom floor when she should be perfectly capable of cleaning up after herself, and it's taken months to get the paint stains out of the carpet again, why doesn't she at least try to sell some of her paintings and earn some money instead of just wasting away inside, can't she see she's going to become a bitter old shut-in who dishonours the clan and won't ever get a mate before she dies?

2456645 :pinkiehappy:

2456263 And I missed you first time. Thanks! :pinkiehappy:

2457519 LOL, that was beautiful.

And yeah, that'd probably drive any parent to drag out the weaponry. Some kids would just never leave the eyrie without a good shove off the mountainside. :rainbowlaugh:

I'd love to see more about Roslindis' struggles to come to terms with the outside world. Looks like there's a lot of potential fun in that. (I just had a thought of her finally being presented with a coming of age party... normally held to commemorate a child's first flight. Oh god.)

Excellent story here Arch, and I'm certain we all get the message you were trying to convey with this one. Just because you can stab your children with sharp pointy objects, doesn't mean you should. Now they're probably stuck living with their daughter for the rest of their natural lives. To quote ancient sage wisdom handed down throughout generations: "Some motha fuckers always trying to ice skate uphill."
:pinkiecrazy:

2456311 I... might. There's a lot of griffon things out there already, I'd probably just end up recycling some of those ideas. And whether it'd be for Xeno or not, I dunno... Maybe.

I seem to be slowly becoming that xenoverse guy. :pinkiehappy:

2457640 I'm so very stealing that idea.

2460126 Bwahaha!

2460473

I'm so very stealing that idea.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing that developed!

So much stubbornness. That was great! And the rainbow! Ha! :rainbowlaugh:

There are a lot fewer griffon stories out there than you'd think.

Pffftbwahahaha. Beautiful! Just perfect in every fashion, from the characters to the story to the thoughts to the rainbow.

Oi, that was beautiful, mate:moustache:

The build-up had me snickering. Then the :rainbowhuh: happened, and I just about died laughing. :pinkiehappy:

You had me at

And probably sharpening her pike after having realised it hadn't drawn blood, because that was the sort of thing Gertrude did.

Well done. And guessing the rainbow was a Rainboom, then?

This story got a chuckle out of me, but a nervous one, because of how close to home it pokes hits.

2456253 which episode is this from?
