Hmm, it's a little farfetched that the world would bank the success of asteroid deflection to only a few meager hours before impact, even with the most powerful of bombs this isn't supposed to just knock the rock out of the way just like that. Current contingency plans expect weeks of slack due to how ineffectual this kind of velocity management is. I was kinda hoping actually that Alexia could have been a part of resolving this crisis, but the time schedule just jumped quite a bit.
I liked the masseuse part, being pet is pretty awesome! ;)
Overall, it felt like the convention was a lot calmer than I anticipated, even if they only spent what felt like half an hour in the main plaza area. I am surprised than Daniel didn't ditch them first, it would be unlikely that his co would have known if he hadn't reported their "escape" and just let them go after a bit, but it seems he is a little more compliant than normal.
Keep going! ;)

Ah my friend, but they did try deflection first. But I'll go into that later.
As for it being tame, its mostly because i didn't want to hit 12k words for one chapter if I can avoid it.
Really enjoying story, though I was expecting more question answering from the crowd which would of been fun.
Spelling error I thinks, patent?
Loki took the mic back and addressed the crowd. “Unfortunately we cannot give any specifics about how we come to be, as its all awaiting *patient* approval first.”
As I'm commenting anyway food for thought...
Britain doesn't have any land based nuclear weapon launchers, they would (and hopefully never be) fired from submarines. Plus Britain doesn't have the resources (without the rest of the EU) to put rockets into space, most European spacecraft are fired from French Guyana (I think, that's what I hear on the old BBC and wiki says). To be honest the only country I think could possibly launch missiles into space on such short notice is the USA and I imagine that would be a stretch as is. What a rant!
I'm beginning to hate Discord for that meteor now... but maybe it isn't a meteor. Anyway that fair episode was great, I'm betting Loki and Pinkie would make great buddies though I'm not sure even Pinkie would go along with most of her "pranks."
Calling it now: Alien/demon/monster things are using the meteor as a spaceship/transport of sorts.
I... Am very disappointed in this chapter. Not only do I now find the characters to be absolutely unlikeable, in any way, shape, or form, I also am feeling a bit of hate towards em. The Ponies characters mostly, but also Qubert for his ineptness.
Come on guys, there is a freaking METEOR coming down to Earth, it can't be stopped, it's gonna wreck the Pacific up, and the least I was expecting was a bit of worry. And I got that. FROM THE HUMANS. Both Loki and James are heartless in this chapter. Loki especially, and I'm just getting plain sick of her at this point.
All she cares about is having fun at a place they should have kept far away from, like a spoiled brat, and she even has the gall to make JOKES about the impending doom?! Screw you Loki, I hope you get caught in the destruction. I mean, how selfish are these ponies? They were humans once too! And even JAMES knows that, even though the fool let go of his own humanity long ago.
Heck, worst of all, I'll bet this thing is the Alien Spaceship. Gonna wipe up the rest of Humanity after hosing it down, huh? Don't worry! Our heroes have this in the- oh wait, I'm sorry what was that? They don't care? They want sub sandwiches and massages instead? Well shoot. Looks like we're screwed then. Oh well, nice knowing you all!
Next chapter. Tomorrow; though... I think I've read enough tonight.

The thing of it is, Alex and Loki didn't really know how much worse things with the meteor were getting until after the massage. Yes Tune briefly heard about at the sandwich shop, but was distracted away from it by the food server and Qubert was too dead set on finding the ponies to listen to the news. They chalked the first failed missile to being a dud, as it was the only thing that made sense to them. Alexia is concerned for the victims, but Loki wanted to keep her friend from becoming as morose as everyone else was. She does end up setting money aside to be donated, so she's not just saying that to placate Tune.
I was not intentionally trying to make them sound heartless in all of this, but more along the lines of being ignorant of the fact that the other missiles failed. Yet it seems i failed to do so. I'll need to rewrite this chapter after i post the next one.
edit: as for the jokes though. That is a common coping mechanism people use to distract themselves from emotional turmoil. People put up emotional barriers by making light of even gruesome events just to keep from breaking down. Its not that they don't care, but they want to push it out of their mind so it doesn't haunt them like they see such events do to other people.
Plus at the end of the day, the best thing Loki and Alex can do about the meteor and will donate money. Also I think humanity takes a different definition with James/Alex.
She adapts to the body she's in, namingly a mare, but that doesn't make her an Equestrian pony. She's a pony of Earth along with the all the cultural influences that come with it. She's not going to be like a pony you'd find in Ponyville.
And if we're going to be brutally honest with ourselves, humanity can be rather indifferent to tragedies that don't directly affect us. But believe me, the main cast get better. It just takes them a bit to learn how.
3183619 I get your points. However, I'd most likely act the same. If a big ass meteor was enroute to Canada I wouldn't be worried. I just calmly get out of the approximate impact zone asap. Why worry over something if you can't change it? They're donating money to whatever cause, and that's about the best any average person (pony) can do. Not every hero in a story has super powers.
3221569 Oh, hey there. ^_^ Didnt expect anyone to respond after so long. I'm already up there in Chapter 22. XD
See, it's just me. I'm the kind of guy who worries about EVERYTHING, even things I know I won't be able to influence in the slightest bit. And i swear I'm gonna die early with how many years its shaved off. -_-
To me, it's unfair, since Humanity can't fight back against such things (yes, I know they launched nukes, but they didnt do anything now did they?). You know, like a schoolyard bully picking on the pale and skinny kid. It's unfair, and it pisses me off.
WTF
its stuff like this and turning the poor human male to a female unicorn thats make's me think about stopping reading this story. its mostly the genderswap i don't like.
(i gonna read to chapter 10 and if the story don't getting any better i move it to my "read if you don't have any better stories to read file".)
...
Okay, I _really_ don't like Loki now. Are you trying to make her out to be a complete and utter psychopath? Because that's what she seems to be.
You've mentioned this twice now. What is the 'equivalent' of one American casualty, dare I ask?
Two words for you. Coffee enema. Quite frankly, I would have maimed her just for the tube-down-my-throat thing - so far as I am concerned, her continued ability to breathe unaided after that incident quite heavily endebts her to Alexis' good nature.
Okay, it wasn't so much this quote, as the entire section of dialogue. I know some people have a slightly more lax attitude towards sex than I do, but _how dare she_! "I'mma blackmail you into a situation with potentially far-reaching and life changing consequences, because I can't be bothered to deal with the awkwardness of your new-found gender/identity/sexuality" ? I thought perhaps she'd taken a genuine dislike to Conrad, and that was why her pranks against him were positively vicious, but no, it just seems she is genuinely a grade A arsewipe.
After that, you mention they're pretending to be android ponies. That doesn't really work - an android is a human-like robot. What they're pretending to be is either equiform synthetic beings, or cyborgs.
Okay, I'll grant you most non-Britons wouldn't have any reason to know this, but the UK doesn't actually have any land-based missile launch facilities. The British nuclear option is submarine-based. I'll grant you, they could still have launched from waters around the north of Britain, but that doesn't seem to be what the report is saying.
Okay, how did this nag ever function in human society? Her behaviour before now has been attempted to be passed off as a highly extroverted person attempting to be themselves to an audience of two, but now it seems like she just enjoys being the center of attention, and has only avoided pushing the limits with Alexis because it's _her_ goodwill that's giving her someplace to hide.
:(
Perhaps you should just avoid contractions entirely...
And ponies can simply just "cloak" themselves. I am smelling that author misanthropic and ponies are being made overpowered.
Also, Loki is an douche, I hope someone shoots her or him, whatever.
3289669 I found the news clips to be amusing as they reminded me of the simcity games and there news paper
that, i believe would be "Niche"
...I'm sorry, but I seem to have forgotten about he exchange rate of Americans are o Pakistani...

Did everyone forget Loki was/is a criminal? Sure, she's part of the good guy team, but her morals were a bit loose to begin with.
Tho i am personally doubting if she used to be human
I really like the series, but I find it a bit odd that the supposed military man in the convention is super cool with SENTIENT AI. ... Just an observation.
AND BACK TO THE SUSPENSION OF BELIEF.

There is no "was" when she still is.

... Sentient is capable of emotion. Sapient is capable of higher, or in this case free, thought. I suppose either would be cause for alarm in this case however.
