Something about Lightning Dust just seemed a little 'off'. Sometimes she didn't react the right way to the world around her, and sometimes the way she reacted was positively frightening... but it wasn't until she laughed off nearly killing a couple of ponies that anypony actually realized just how messed up she was.

What is funny is that the book said Dust wasn't expelled, just demoted. I also tend to go with the 2nd version of the ending that they didn't go with.
Don't understand why, because the alternate ending made a heck of a lot more sense from a lesson standpoint.

I did not enjoy this fic at all.
The only good part for me was when spitfire was reaming dust in the office.
I would also point out that nobody got to be in the position of authority like spitfire has without knowing how certain people act.
The minute dash would have left Spitfire would have investigated it, and knowing her, got the full story out of dash - ergo Lightning Dust = jail for asult & the threats against Rainbow Dash's friends .
Oh yeah - they're the Elements of Harmony - how do you think the princess would react when she heard about those threats -considering one would be against Twilight, a student she's practically raised herself?
I'm sorry but for me the story started out ok, but took a plummet as it went on.
In the short term? Possibly. I can't imagine it not coming out eventually, though. Spitfire is too suspicious of her, and the mane six have too many high level connections. All it would take it a single letter from Twilight to Celestia and there would almost certainly be an investigation coming down from above that Dust wouldn't be able to do anything about. It's not like she could actually just start killing ponies until no one is left to ask questions, and we saw how well her attempt to subtly manipulate Dash went.
Wow! Glad this isn't a gluefic. The psychological route is much more terrifying.
We're gonna want to see some justice.
This was perfect. Lightning Dust isn't just called a sociopath, she is a sociopath; in her thoughts, in her actions, in everything she does. From the blatant lies to the way she uses circular logic and blames everyone else, to the point where none of the other characters can even comprehend her viewpoint. You wrote her perfectly.
Looking forward to more, because even though this would end well as a one shot, you created a really interesting character and scenario and everyone hates Lightning Dust now.
MInor note: I actually initially thought Rainbow would kick her ass in self defense. She did have a black belt in Applebloom's Cutie Mark episode way back in season...one, maybe? Call it cartoon license, but I like taking stuff like that and turning our ponies into badasses.
I can't really see Rainbow-"Charges at everything from chaos spirits to dragons to changeling armies"-Dash letting Lightning Dust bully her into submission like that.
And how the heck does having her face shoved into a wall or getting pinned even hurt her when she can smack into trees and houses so hard they are turned to splinters?
It's just... Jarringly out of character.
