I won't say I disagree exactly, but that I'd agree more if the story was about preventing the Armageddon. As we're already passed that point in the story, the why never struck me as crucial because that's not really the important issue anymore. It's more about dealing with something that has been acknowledged as inevitable, and all one can really do is delay things that little bit more and try to make the most of what time is left.
I hope that makes sense.
I always look to the skirts fic, Hello Sedna when it comes to armageddon and Twilight. It reinforced my thoughts of how Twi would handle the end of the world. She would not sit and take it. She would find a way to leave.
