I think you are about to hit on something that I thought would be an interesting plot point which is that Ponyville is so nice and friendly directly due to Pinkie Pies influence hence why it became so negative in comparison after she joins the Apples in that episode..they were turning back to normal.
I am digging the Pinkie/Big Mac vibes. Uncommon (though more common now after the season 3 finale) but very cute.

Very nice. Surprised Applejack was not uncomfortable with Pinkie's obvious attraction to Big Mac (or at least saying how attractive he is).
This story would be great if not for the whole murderer/rapist bit. It kinda ruined what would otherwise be a great, uplifting fic. It just doesn't fit.
