For the FoE Group's 300 member writing contest. Theme was "Stand Your Ground."
This action-packed tie-in to FoE: Pure Hearts follows a raider pony named Butcher during a heated battle, set in the Vanhoover ruins.
Please note that this is a bit of a spoiler from an upcoming chapter of Pure Hearts, but it is only expanding on a scene from a different point of view, so you won't be spoiled too much. This may also turn into a much bigger story of its own later on.

Is she bisexual? Haven't fully decided. She's straight to say the least, whether she ventures elsewhere later, we'll see.

Agreed. Doesn't mean Butcher is one way or the other, but she may lean toward mares, or it could just be that there's a strong bond that she feels with Dovetail that isn't necessarily love. Again, that's not fully decided upon, and probably won't be unless I expand this into a full story, so for now, I'll leave it up to your imagination.
This was the first FoE fic I've read... I'm not sure if I want to read more... The Age of Wings and Steel taught me to be cautious about depressing fics. So many ponies die...

Ah, it is depressing, but there are a lot of good ones out there. Then again, the world of Fallout in general is fairly depressing, even when it's humorous.

Yes you can. I think, but don't hold me to it, that Fallout 3 is $10 and New Vegas is $20. I could be wrong, but they aren't much. I know they also have the original Fallouts, but they play completely differently and I'm not a fan of them.

You should check out the story that this one ties into, FoE: Pure Hearts. It's a little less depressing and less graphic, so far at least. It's also a tad more new-reader (to the FoE Universe) friendly than this one.

And I'm not really sure, actually.
It is time for the judging in not so many days, so that means that I have just read your one shot.
And while the wording is good, better than your normal story, with a whole lot telling instead of showing, and a good and steady pace, does there still come some questions to my mind. Like would Dovetail not be able to see that Butcher... I mean Summer Withers is a raider? It is normally rather easy to know a non raider from one, with both the way that they dresses, to how they just generally look. I could understand it if Summer was a new raider, forced into this just months ago, but as yourself mentions in the chapter have she been a raider for years, or what there sound to be her whole life, and that brings up my next question.
While she acts touch in her mouth towards Dovetail, why are she so "human" else? She thinks on her fellow raiders, something that I have never seen beforehand. And I know that it is a fleeing thought, but she is drugged up and does still have room for that in her brain... It does just seem a bit odd to me.
And the last thing... How did someone know how to make a cybernetic leg that works? And are then able to make it more or less in the middle of nowhere? I know that we are still missing some pieces of the puzzle about Dovetail and company, but cybernetics are some really advanced tech. I could understand if they gave Summer some kind of high tech pegleg, but not a real one... But that could also just be me that is over reacting.
And now for some nitpicks
"magick" I think that you either have a k to much on that magic, or are using a rather old version of the word
"This had been getting insane" Do you not have some tense conflict here?
" I put a burst in their direction." Are put not a wrong word here? Would laid or shoot not be a better choice of words?
"A sniper had shot him with explosive rounds." Should this not be in singular? Or else would I say there is missing the soundeffect of a gunshot.

Good to hear it was mostly just nitpicks and questions on this one. I'll get those nitpicks fixed up as soon as I can.
As for the questions, most of them will be answered when I get to that point in the main story.
