Lord Pony

E
Source

It's been over ten years since the disaster that changed the course of young Snails' life. Obsessed with changing the past, Snails has almost completed his ultimate invention: a time machine.

Will Snails be able figure out the cause of the disaster and save his friends before it's too late, or is history doomed to repeat itself?

I would love to hear anyone's feedback on my first story! It's my hope that after reading this, you'll gain a whole different perspective on the character of Snails. New chapters coming very soon!

Thanks to Darrin for the extremely awesome cover art!

Thanks to The Invincible for inspiring me to give writing a try, be sure to check out his stuff

Oooohhh... this is very intriguing. :pinkiehappy:

You don't see too many Snails fanfics, and this one is very well written. I'm excited to see where this goes.

Snails in in my top 10 favorite characters.
I ship him with Diamond Tiara. :pinkiecrazy:

As you wish, my fine fellow! Second chapter is up.

Spoiler: Snails caused the accident.

That sounds a bit too predictable, don't you think?

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the positive feedback.

I'm getting really curious to see what this "accident" is (was?)

One minor nitpick, though. I know its not really important, but Twi's friends shouldn't have have been able to remove the Alicorn Amulet. It is clearly stated in the episode that only Trixie could remove it.

Sorry about being picky, but the rest of it was so good that that minor lapse in logic stuck out.

Can't wait for the next chapter, though. :derpytongue2:

You are right about the amulet. I was going with the idea that if Trixie lost consciousness then the magic would stop working and they could get it off, but I didn't describe that well enough. Thanks for the critique!

2310172 That's actually a pretty good point, I didn't think of that until just a little while ago. The ponies didn't even know what the Alicorn Amulet was until they read about it in a book, after Twilight's exile. The idea that it was the source of Trixie's power didn't even occur to them at the time. It makes me wonder if, had this scenario actually taken place, they would even try to take it off. Now that I think about even deeper, Twilight did know what it was, but just didn't recognize it right away. What I want to know is how Twilight was able to reverse the age spell. She couldn't do it the first time. I wonder if it's because a spell becomes more effective the more time you have...

Anyway, I'm really enjoying this story so far, and not just the main theme of trying to change the past. There's this clever little subtext, surrounding the whole Science vs. Magic argument. Namely, our 'magic' is their 'science', and their 'science' is our 'magic'. Think about it; humans use science for just about everything, but in a world where magic exists, why would we bother with science at all? I bet the reverse is true in Equestria. Science is known in Equestria, but it isn't as widespread as magic. If it were revealed that science can do things that magic can't, would ponies just abandon magic entirely and take up science instead? That might be something to think about.

Great work on the story so far; I'm hooked on all these unanswered questions. Can't wait to see how this all works out.

2313572 Lots of great points, my friend! For the age spell, I think Twilight only failed the first time because of the extreme stress of the situation along with being exhausted from doing several tough spells in a row. After having a break to calm down and focus her entire attention on the problem, I'm sure she could do it with some effort.

You are also dead on that the science vs. magic theme is one that I am excited to explore, hopefully in an interesting way!
