Yea I'm not too big on the same gender stuff either, but I have to admit I am a fan of the Fire and Rain story. And I definitely do not like any kind of ship between the mane 6. I was once reading a story that I admit, was enjoying very well, until a random mane 6 ship popped up. All that went through my head was "Now, what was that about"
