Thanks to Diamond Tiara and her father, Silver Spoon feels that she can't be herself, can't be what she was destined to be. With her future decided for her, and her actions manipulated by others, can she find the courage to look in herself and find her true voice?

(This story will pretty much ignore S5E18.)

...ponies wear swimsuits? :derpyderp1:

To quote Data from Star Trek: "Fascinating".

I don't notice any typos or mistakes.
Well written and well edited, good job.
I like it.

I hope to please you in the future.

And to all that have read without replying, I hope that you continue to follow us and enjoy the story.

:pinkiegasp: her cutie mark is fake!

2694386

Indeed it is. But seriously, if it wasn't, what would it represent anyway?

After reading your comment I looked up what Silver Spoon meant and this is what I found.
S: (n) silver spoon, old money (the inherited wealth of established upper-class families) "he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth"; "she is the daughter of old money from Massachusetts"

At first I was angry :flutterrage:
Then I was sad :fluttercry:
Poor Silver Spoon!

“That didn’t look like a simple disagreement,” Sweetie told her. “I disagree with Scootaloo and Apple Bloom, but I don’t buck them in the face and walk away.”

That's true. When the Crusaders get into a fistfight (or 'hooffight') they tend to keep going until outside intervention.

I'd like to invite you to drop this story in the group Friendship is Writing. It's very good, and I think it needs more attention.

And no one else saw that? Is every other foal in the school blind and deaf?

No one else really noticed or cared about what was on her flank. I doubt any ponies spend a lot of time looking at the flanks of preteen fillies. And most would probably think it looked strange, but not think much past that. The only reason Diamond Tiara noticed was because she knew what was supposed to be there.

I like it so far. I hope you have a good transition for how the rest of the Cutie Mark Crusaders feel about Silver Spoon and how she feels about Diamond Tiara, but what you have so far is a good start.
I like how SS's family owns a silver mine - I never really thought about it before.

Good story, I want to know what happens next.

Interesting story. I look forward to reading more.

There are a number of theories set fourth about what Silver Spoon's mark represents. Special talents have included-
Food Critique
Culinary skills: chef, baker etc.
Silver smithing: craftsmanship, eye for detail and appraisal.
Skills in fine etiquette and high society, charm, and sophistication. (according to Tarnished Silver by Ham Gravy.)

and Finally for my tumblr pone Silver "Serving" Spoon, and as an amateur chef and professional baker, it represents a passion and talent for service and fine cuisine preparation. She loves playing hostess, in her lover's, Diamond Tiara's mansion and
making ponies smile with her service and food. No more so then Diamond herself who sometimes lovingly teases her with the moniker "Serving Spoon" her real name though is Sylvia Catherine Spoon.

OMG her cutiemark is a FAKE!!?:pinkiegasp::eeyup:

well I wonder how DT will take that.

Oh Buck is right! I hate cliffhangers.. oh well. Great story and can't wait to learn more about her real mark:pinkiehappy:

I put a couple of subtle clues in the story as to what her true cutie mark represents, so people can guess before I reveal it. And I know it's taking a long time, this chapter is a harder one for me to write.

*Implying that procrastination and distractions didn't play a part as well*

I see.. well must have been so subtle that I missed them. I was blown away when her mark washed off in the shower, but you never gave any description that I can tell, of what is her cutiemark under the paint.

I just thought she was secretly a blank flank until this last chapter.:facehoof:

3501678

That was my original plan, that I tossed out before I started.

3506127
Yeah I read one fic where she was secretly a blank flank, and her spoon washed away in the rain on the way home with DT.

It was stupid. It was called "I need you to need me." turns out her new mark (which she got just after the fake one wash off) was for loving DT. As if THATS her special talent:pinkiecrazy:

I haven't read many fics focused on Silver Spoon, I think the only one has been one whee SS develops a fangirl crush on Rainbow Dash to Scootaloo's annoyance. Still, liking the concept here so far and curious to see where it goes w/ SS and her cutie mark.

I have a weak spot for stories where a kid feels pressured to be one way when they want to be another.

Silver Spoon's father is a fool. Limiting your knowledge to a single skill set is a ludicrous idea. Do we eventually specialize as we go further up the ladder of education? Yes but many Universities are requiring you to take some courses outside of your chosen field. It allows for you to diversify your skill set and not be so dependent upon others. By delegating some parts of the job away from you, you're also trusting those others to not screw you over, having at least some knowledge of the field can give you some oversight so you can bite it in the rear if things start going south.

I would have read this earlier, but FiMFiction's software apparenlty decided not to tell me that it had updated. Good thing I decided to go through my Favorites looking for such things. I wonder why it does that...

It did that to me as well.

Babt steps, Silver, baby steps...

Really like the story so far. Looking forward to future chapters.

Can't wait for the next chapter.
I think I know what Silver Spoon is planning to do.

One would hope this story isn't dead. This is a fantastic story.

5848385

I can tell you for a fact that it's not dead. I have a few paragraphs of the next chapter written up already, and I'm attempting (and failing) to get things going on both my stories in progress. I want to get the next chapter done before MLP-MSP (in June), so it'll come, and soon.

5848530 Okay. That's good to know. It's just such a good story!

Yays!!! It's back! ^_^

So, I saw this in the update list and I decided to take a look. Because... Silver Spoon.

“Well, there was a continuation on the lesson about fractions. And also, there was the lesson on Gryphon customs, and how they differ from the ones in Equestria,” Silver answered the silver earth pony.
“Hmph, useless things that one of your workers would probably need to care about. Nothing important about the business world,” he answered.

This guy has no idea about business. At all.

Anyway, I haven't seen a story yet with Silver having a fake cutie mark! That's new!

My tiara represents a passion for leadership.

This thing always cracks me up. Figures that someone who's "daddy's little (brat) princess" would get a cutie mark showing that she's nothing but a pampered moron with power, and people turned it into equating with 'leadership', when Tiara has actively shown zero talent for that.

Welcome back fic I liked!

6009953 well in Crusaders of The lost Mark she shows it to be canon. Only she phrases it as merely "my special talent is getting ponies to do what I want." her talent is more then that but her interpretation of it is simplified and true as far as she knows it to be.

But this was written before season 5 I think.

oh and YAY Luna!:pinkiehappy:

4864283 yeah be patient with her, Sweetie.:unsuresweetie:

Canterlot was not built in a day.:twilightsheepish:

“We need to talk,” Diamond Tiara said.

well normally I'm optimistic about Diamond and Silver's relationship but I have a bad feeling this won't go well.:pinkiegasp:

“My problem is that they ruined my cute-centenia,” Diamond interrupted. “It was supposed to be my day, and they ruined it by taking the attention off of me...”

That's pretty much my headcanon for DT. Would have been a perfectly logical motive for Diamond's grudge against the CMC. Too bad Crusdaers of The Lost Mark shot that theory down.:twilightsheepish:

Did she want to throw that away, the chance to have three new friends, to have Diamond back? The answer was yes, but if it was going to happen, things needed to change.

this paragraph makes no sense. The answer was NO because her actions proved she was unwilling to give up her new friends.

Or are you saying if Diamond gave into to her terms and stopped being a bully Silver would just not pursue her new friendships with the CMC?

I'm confused.:twilight oops:

otherwise great story and I want to read more.

7146067 Yeah, Tiara didn't get any leadership qualities until Crusaders of the Lost Mark, but whatevs.

7146154

I can see where you're confused, and I probably should rewrite it. But to answer your question, she did want Diamond back, but only if she agreed to the terms she set. And part of her terms is that Diamond at least tries to be friends with the Crusaders, rather than bully them. In short, she wanted all five of them to be one big circle of friends.

7148845 I hold out hope still for Diamond and Silver's reconciliation.:twilightsheepish:

Yea!! new chapter! :pinkiehappy:

I really like how you are bringing Twilight into this and how she's handling things so far. Can't wait for more!
