I too hope that in season 4 Twilight gives up alicornhood. I guess we will have to wait and see. On a side note, as tax payer I would be pissed that the number of princesses seems to be growing. Princesses are expensive.

Twilight has abdicated the throne and passed the savings on to you :rainbowlaugh:

Glad you enjoyed the concept.

daaww Twilight gave up the throne for love! oohh it got me teary eyed.:raritycry:

Why is this being downvote bombed.....

2165405

Because it pisses off some other shippers, more than likely.

she was in no wise ready. Huh?

no way to I mean to. no way do I

Eh, not really feeling this. Personally I would have ignored the issue for now until either more information came to light, or other stories would have forced the issue to the fore. It's just way too early in my opinion.

Because people are people and people are often assholes for no reason. That's one of the reasons I hate these black and white systems. We really need more moderation ideally, but that will not be happening due to reality.

Yea but you can't just moderate something like this... this is the internet, freedom and all....

Maybe it's because people just dislike the concept, I don't know.

2167375

Forums moderate comments all the time, it is not possible for something this size to have that kind of common sense tracking just due to the few people running it. And I'm not talking about, you have a different opinion, delete. I'm talking more about a system like Amazon reviews, you can't just set your star number, you have to explain why you came to that rating. Those explanations can, in a less lop-sided system, be read and purged if they are found to be baseless.

I disagree. If you did that nobody would vote, granted the quality of stories in the featured box would skyrocket... But it's not worth the restrictions. Less popular/noticed fics would get no rating whatsoever as nobody could be bothered.

This was for down votes specifically, to prevent vote bombing.

Given the way my fanon should, in theory, take up the time encompassed by this event, I had to say something about it. And besides, I'm just SUCH a Twinkie fan that I wanted some more romantic mush with them. And as it was an abdication I wanted to reference one of the most striking abdications, which was even for love. Score.

I'm surprised you didn't understand my use of 'wise'. Is that not in the modern lexicon? Maybe I've been doing too much Luna study lately, but back then "in no wise" meant "in no way" or "in no manner."

2188363

Eh, that's fine. It just seems too sudden to me. If they do come up with some really cool stuff that you'd want to include, then you'd have kind of shot yourself in the foot. I'm, personally, a bit more cautious.

Yeah, wise hasn't meant that in a century or two. Not like this is the first time I've missed a word use.

2188891

It seems to survive in fossil terms like "Crosswise" or similar, with "wise" indicating a manner or mode.

I dunno. I greatly suspect that anything cool that might happen with the Twilicorn can be done with Twilight. The only big things that make me add to and revise my stories are new species, like my adding of Buffalo, Changelings and Diamond Dogs.

I understand giving up being a princess but why turn away the alicorn state? It opens all sorts of avenues for study including flight. That doesn't entirely compute to me. Oh well, not a bad story.

Part and parcel. To be an alicorn is to be divine, in a certain sense. You embody what it is to be harmony, especially in the pony sense of embodying the tribes. Taking her alicorn status takes her princess status and vice versa. As a note, in this canon, Blueblood was made a different kind of prince and inherited it from a long line of subordinate princes and princesses. She can give herself butterfly wings to explore flight but given the in-canon statements she seems focused on emotional studies including friendship, love and single-partner carnality.

A wonderful Twinkie story. I don't totally agree with the idea of the princesses taking away Twilight's wings, but only because I don't think Celestia gave them to her. Of course, that's just dueling headcanons, and that never ends well for either party. It was dramatically appropriate regardless of my opinion.

Also, out of curiosity, what did doom mean a millennium ago?

2840462

"Doom" meant law, judgment or sentence, originating out of a word meaning "judgment." So "Doomsday" contextually meant Judgment Day and that is still a synonym. As I understand "doom" came to mean "death" or "peril" metaphorically, as a reflection of ultimate judgment (a similar thing happened to "apocalypse." It used to mean (and still does, strictly speaking, in Greek) revelation of hidden knowledge but now refers to the end of the world because of the way it used to specifically refer to that kind of literature.)

Glad you like the Twinkie! It's my favorite pair these days.

Fascinating tidbits. :D

I can't help but feel Twilight led Pinkie on for a bit there. <.< Whyever would she put her through that?

3483702

The pain was more politics. Pinkie may be her lover but this is high level stuff. Twilight was forbidden to tell anyone about the abdication. At least the ending gave them some happiness.

Hmm, not sure that was clear. Was it handled in a previous story or something? <.<

3483948

No, this story is just what it is. This is the only story of mine that deals with Alicorn Twilight, so it's all self-contained.

I think this story is a bit of a period piece, in that it represents a lot of the opinions and emotions of people when they heard about Alicorn Twilight. I find that the story's effectiveness is greatly diminished upon seeing how well her new stature has been integrated in Season 4.

In a sense I agree, especially in light of Tirek. But for the longest time there was nothing there for it. Plus this variant universe had no need for another princess.
