This is the first in what I think will be a trilogy. I'm working diligently on my much more lighthearted story's Chapter 2, but I think I'm about to get Jossed on this one, so I thought why not go ahead and get it out of the way. Cover art to come later, which if truth be told is what was holding this one back from publication. Holidays have a way of derailing plans, though.
This is a bit experimental in my opinion and I hope you'll find it enjoyable albeit unconventional in certain senses. Feedback is always appreciated!

By any chance was this story at least partially inspired by a certain episode of Batman involving a certain British gentleman obsessed with a story recently turned into a Tim Burton film?

1943227 "Perchance to Dream": After getting knocked out during a battle, Bruce wakes up in a literal paradise world: his parents are still alive, he's engaged to Selina Kyle (who similarly has no memories of being Catwoman), and someone else has taken up the role of Batman instead of him. It turns out that it's all just a fantasy world created by the Mad Hatter as revenge for ruining the Hatter's opportunity for getting with his beloved Alice in his first appearence. The ending scene with Flora and James' confrontation with Discord seems reminiscent of Bruce's own encounter with the Mad Hatter inside the dream world at the climax of the episode.
Interesting. I'll have to see if I can look that episode up. It's been years since I've watched the show. Well hopefully this story stands well enough on its own. Actually it started out as an exercise and sort of took on a life of its own. As it stands, there should be two sequels and a multi-chapter set of side-stories featuring the rest of the ponies in the alt universe Discord set up.
you know I had a similar idea just like this and was very tempted to write it, but because of my procrastination someone beat me to it... oh well time to read.
