I love to write, and I'll write just about anything. I seem to be most well known for my stupid little comedy pieces though...

I take it she's (Octavia's) still alive right?

The first two are sad because Vinyl died as well their friend Applejack, the last one is sad for Applejack alone since he never knew Vinyl.

1932439 Yep.
Thinking about it, I may write one for Octavia to be fair.

Not bad, not bad at all.

I thought there were some parts Where Tech's narrative could have showed a bit more emotion, like when he got fired for the first time. Also, Octavia's system of suitors sounds a little strange to me, but what do I know about celebrity dating? Not a whole lot. A few more details on her actual death would have jerked some more tears as well.

Beyond those things, this is a decently sad story. I shall give it a positive thumb.

1933193 Well to answer two of your comments, the reason Tech is somewhat emotionless about being fired is that it happened around 50 or 60 years prior to him telling this story. And I tried to make him more annoyed than anything.
And about more of her death, I didn't want that to be the focus of the story. I wanted it to be about remembering those we have lost.

1933193 I'll assume it was old age that was the cause of death seeing as Applejack is also confirmed to be dead.

1933223 Well I kinda figured on that, but a few more comments on her passing was what I was talking about. I wasn't talking autopsies or anything, but maybe a few last statements or final moments would have jerked more tears is what I meant. But hey, I'm no authority on sadfics anyway.

Why are you guys listening to me? Stop that!

1933257 I think in all honesty since this is a narration from someone who knew the character who is dead it's more tear jerking to have him reflect on all the good memories he has of that character.

A good story, very well told. I like the quick characterization, and it feels completely different from your other stories, I like it. Didn't exactly make me cry though... maybe I accidently skipped some sad part? It's a story of a person finding happiness as told by a friend. What's there to be sad about? Vinyl was happy, and then died. She admired someone, and then married that person, had a happy marriage, had a kid, and now her friends and family tell this story about her after she died. What could someone find sad in that? I think this is a nice, happy story. Good work slateblue1

1933777 Also, think about adding 'slice of life' as a tag. :raritywink:

1933777 Two things, there's only one 'e' in my name. And it's not so much a sadfic, one that makes you cry, as it has a sad topic, death. While it is about what happened in her life, it's being told after her death, and I felt the Sad tag was right. My issue with the Slice of life Tag is that I feel that makes it episodic, and too spread out. It just didn't feel right to me.

1933267>>1933257 Well to comment on both of you, first thanks. Glad to see people enjoying my fic. And well, I didn't intend it as something to make you cry as you learn about the bad things. I kinda see this being told at her funeral, as a reminder of the good times. The point is more to remember all the fun that she brought to the lives of those she touched, not the pain her death brought.

Wow. Just..... WOW. Would have liked it to have a bit more detail about their first date, tho. But awesome all the same!
