Cloudhammer

I never make mistakes. I thought I'd made one once, but I was wrong.

The overriding goal of the Conversion programs are to find a way to allow humanity to survive the impending Rejection. But thus far, the only solution that has worked is the ponification serum. However, in the development of the canification serum, a potential avenue of survival is found. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen, but with time continuing to run out, waiting for surety isn't a luxury humanity has.

God dammit stop filling up mah notifications with stories I have to now read.

1) Why does the embryo need to be put into a dog body? Wouldn't the embryo being exposed make it at used to/more resistant to magic?
2) The in vitro is not an economical. You would need massive amounts of human embryos transplanted into dog bodies to avoid a genetic bottleneck as much as possible, and I mean thousands, and I imagine you would be hard pressed to find thousands of willing dog females. The alternative is... unpleasant to think about.

1) Well, I will admit it was a bit of hand-waving in my choice of the canids as the species for this story. I basically asked myself if a pony could realistically carry a human fetus to term, and decided that no, it couldn't. So, went with the canids for the sake of ease. I'm lazy, sorry :pinkiesad2:

2) Oh, I know it's not economical, but given the circumstances, I felt that it would be something that they would at least try. And given the development of the Canification serum, the canids lack of numbers isn't as much an issue.

Not trying to invite you in, only to whack you on the head. I just want to try and make sure I'm putting the most effort I can into making this story (mostly :rainbowlaugh:)

1835649 Heh. So you get turned into a Diamond Dog, but your children can still be human? As long as they extract the eggs first.

1836113
Something to that effect. But Luna has a point. Actions has consequences, and they're not always the visible kind :pinkiecrazy:

Interesting potential solution. They may not be able to save the current population, but breeding up a new magic resistant population would allow the species to survive.

What, :rainbowderp: did Heather just feel the two A1B nuclear reactors on board the John F. Kennedy when she step on her.

Holy crap, so she was able to feel the reactors? That's an interesting development. And wow, that's a pretty dark interpretation of Discord.

Well, he started warping reality itself in about five minutes of Season 2 (the part with Rarity in the hedge maze), so I think that at the full height of his power, he would be pretty f-ing terrifying :twilightoops:

Well... this looks like it could get very interesting. Nice to see you back at work

You know something finally occurred to me while reading this chapter. If they can successfully birth a human child that is properly adapted to the magic of Equestria, is there anything stopping the researchers from developing a version of the serum that can transform a standard Earth human into a magical Equestrian human?

3489307
Unfortunately no. To fuel the transformation requires a heavy dose of magic, typically from one to three unicorns depending on their strength and reserves. In theory, if you could completely shut down the brain (all the way down, that is) then it's possible. But the attempt is so dangerous that no one is willing to countenance trying it. At least in the stories I've got planned.

3490065 Maybe I didn't quite get across what I meant. I assume they've been able to develop a diamond dog serum because they were basing it off a magical creature model, correct? And if so, could they not create a human serum using a magical human as the model?

Interesting use of the crystal caves, it makes sense that they would be very tempting to diamond dogs.

It's hilarious to see Heather steadily taking less shit. I kinda want to see her have a little showdown with Luna about the Nightguard being so secretive.

Ah, poor innocent and adorable Digger :rainbowlaugh: Don't change.

It's funny, I love writing diamond dogs because some times they're dumber than the rocks they eat, and others they have flashes of insight :rainbowlaugh:

*Obligatory it lives .gif*

Now that that's out of the way.

I'm loving the Sweetie Belle levels of alternating between stupidity and brilliance. It's going to make them wonderful characters to read (even if the dumb side of things will annoy me from time to time)

8162099
'tis true, though I also found that constantly writing Machievellian characters also gets annoying. Sometimes it's nice to let other ponies/dogs/griffons/people feel like the smartest person in the room :rainbowlaugh:

Digger is so freaking adorable! :twilightsheepish:

Nice that the story finally has an ending, even if somewhat abrupt. Many thanks for finishing it

Childbirth often is. But yeah, wonderful to see this story finally reach its conclusion. I hope Matthew and the generation that follow him manage to find their place in Equestria. They're essentially all just one big experiment to preserve the human gene after all, which means that the entire generation is going to grow up as the only humans with only Diamond Dogs and ponies to raise them.

Awww... the birth has arrived! Sadly it's another weird to actually get a full description of the child...

Come on, Matte Hue is an awesome name! XD

Uh... but... won't Dr. Douglas perish from the thaumatic radiation? That's why they needed a diamond dog surrogate mother, right?

Ohhh she turned into a diamond dog, but has a human baby. That makes more sense.

There's a lot of extraneous "wells" in this chapter.

Discord's got a lot of flexibility. You can give him unlimited power, or you can make him a trickster who makes everyone think he has unlimited power. Just keep it consistent through the story, and no one should complain.

Wow, zero to agony in 23.7 seconds. That's an academy record.

Eh, was alright. Not an incredible story, but Heather was a fun character. Most of the characters were portrayed really well, like out of the show but with a worldbuilding veneer of reality over it. 6.5/10

Wich of the Conversionburau stories is the first, I couldn't find it. :)

I think that kind of name mutation is going to be a thing a lot of the new humans will have to deal with and I fully expect some of them to roll with it.

In a couple generations, "Matte Hue" might very well be a variant spelling for "Matthew" and there are going to be humans with names that are "traditionally pony," for various reasons.

Oh no. I’ve found the Bureau loops stories.
May god have mercy on my soul.

While I always appreciate comments, if you don't like TCB stories, why'd you comment on one, especially after reading it? Further, if you didn't like it, some constructive (or really, any kind of) feedback is much preferred so I can improve

9309423
Didn't read it. It's an infinite loops reference. You may be confused because for some reason comments posted from the main page of a story always go to the last chapter.

9309560
Then that only makes it stranger on why'd you post a comment at all on a story you had no intention of reading.

9310627
It just be like that sometimes.

And it's a bit of an inside joke.
