If you were offered another chance, would you take it? I mean, for anything. Turned down a date because you already had plans? Skipped out on dessert that one time becuase of your diet?

How about if you died, defending all you hold dear.

...except, it wasn't your turn to die?

And if you accepted, would you live with the strings attatched? Would you accept the consequences? Would you pay the toll?

And, should you face again the choice to give it all for a friend in need, would you make the same choice again, or take your second chance, as your friend pays the toll?

This, my friends, is my story of my second chance. This is my time as Fate's Plaything.

Authors note:

I know this is a HiE, but hear me out. This is my own spin on it, and hopefully, I can write something that hasn't been done before. No human-pony clop included. Also, I'm my own editor, so if you see any issues with the grammar, spelling, etc., let me know.

1784009 STOP

BAD PONY

How many times do I have to let people know that I WILL BE BANNED FOR YOUR ACTIONS?

Dang it i wanted to be first and i would have been if dinner hadnt been ready anyway i like the concept and while the human gets into equestria root is used very often you put an exciting new twist on it if you havent written it yet may i suggest he appear near fluttershy as she is likely to be calmer around this new and strange creature but take it anyway you want, finally although i really enjoyed it there is a rule about including nothing about mlp in a story and even though you hint it it still isnt there so i suggest getting chapter 2 in before one of the big ponies in charge notice (p.s. if you need an editor id be happy to help p.p.s. please respond to my comment)

This looks very promising.

1784262 Yes indeed. Thank you for your advice. I will be sure to update as soon as I can. And thank you, I just might ask you to edit. I haven't worked all the details of this one out, but I I already have a good idea of where it will go. I'm excited for it. :pinkiehappy:

Interesting, VERY interesting. You certainly got my attention, and you get a fav from me, can't wait to read the next chapter. :raritywink:

I have to say, you're very bold writing a H.I.E. story. As far as first impressions go, they seem rather scorned courtesy of more illiterate individuals who desire nothing more than to write stories for the sake of fun and getting themselves romanced with one of the Mane 6, if not other popular characters. Not that there's anything wrong with the former option, mind you. But it's just that there can be those who get carried away in their fun that they forget about the quality of the work, accidental or otherwise. Leads to quite the amount of scorn.

But enough about my worries. I'm here to give you a review, not make you listen to me complaining about the thoughts of other authors.

To start off, I'll summarize what I've seen so far. The human protagonist is a military soldier K.I.A. while protecting an ally from certain doom. He is then confronted with the realization that it wasn't his time yet to die, and with the help of three deities, is resurrected within Equestria for a second chance. He spawns in the Everfree Forest, gets his bearings, and is then forced to fight with a Manticore. All of these sound like typical, generic elements for an H.I.E. story. How many times have I seen the protagonist encounter a Manticore over other creatures or land in the Everfree Forest? Of course, him being a soldier gives him an excuse for his ability to combat at least some of the Equestrian threats and dangers thrown his way, but still.

However, this can be made up by how well the story is written. I like the smaller events such as moments with Twilight and Spike, as well as him getting his bearings prior to being attacked. I also enjoyed the concept of Death, Life and Fate having their own set personalities just as any human being would. Gods who act similar to the regular person and not some overly worshiped Messiah are peculiar and unique in my opinion. But above all, I like the fact that you didn't have him meet any of the Mane 6 right away. It's something that brings up a certain amount of tension, and I love breathtaking moments that stories bring, whether it be out there or subtle.

Great job so far. I look forward to seeing and reviewing more as the chapters are uploaded.

Just a little something I want to point out.

...and with the help of three deities....

Didn't Life mention that there aren't any deities, but were the closest beings to that state?

1790250 Oh. She did, didn't she? Oh, well, close enough. :rainbowlaugh:

1789193 Bear with me, if you will, dear Cheyenne, as I would prove my words to you when I say, "Nay good gentlepony. Cliche though it may begin, with my story ye shan't be disappointed. For with the cliches come unique plot points, blue walnuts that may or may not be of irritating import, and a mysterious OC who lurks upon yonder horizon."

And of course my ever dry commentary on the antics of our favorite ponies and a certain human who just couldn't help being a bloody* idiot/hero.

*No, I'm not British.

*Claps hands* Well played sir well played can't wait for next chapter

1809423 Thank you. The support is much appreciated.

I'm excited myself for the next chapter. This one is being a little more difficult to formulate in my head :applejackunsure:, though I'm reasonably sure it will involve hazy drifting, character development, a surprised Mane Six, more character development, and a rude awakening courtesy of... well, you'll find out soon enough :ajsmug:. I'm trying to make it a habit of updating at least once every two days. We'll see how long it takes for my creativity wellspring to dry up.

HAHAHA!
"Rubber baby buggy bumpers!"
That is a freaking awsome!

By the way, does anyone know of an artist that would accept a commission for a coverart for this story?

The mane 6 gets involved in an HiE? It's not like we have hundreds of those floating around. I mean, the least you could do is make the story's setting someplace other than Ponyville or Canterlot. :facehoof:

1962300 Your opinion, is noted and respected.:unsuresweetie: However, comma, I disregard your opinion in favor of my story. Trust me when I say that this will take some interesting turns. Read on if you wish, or don't. I don't particularly care.:ajbemused:

1962185 That is unfortunate. But I thank you for reading thusfar.

WOOT NEW CHAPTER!:yay:

It seems that a shit storm is coming!

What year is the human world in? It makes me curious because Death could have won because if this is in Afghanistan you could have it in 2014 and therefore have Fate win the bet.
