Tom is an old one, a being from before creation, incomprehensible to mortals and immortals alike for even immortals cannot grasp the true concept of the eternity he represents.
That last line makes me think that Tom's gonna go evil and corrupt all the ponies and force them to love him.
This reads disturbingly similar to scripture. I am not at all sure how to feel about it.

All in all, the premise certainly has a unique take to it in his portrayal of our favourite piece of slab, which may be too original for its own good. Right at the cover page, niche idea alone may dissuade serious readers already, but for those inquisitive enough to read on regardless of the ‘sequel’, this story won’t do much to satisfy or justify its tags and may only seem half-baked. In the end, it certainly won’t match up well against the more developed one-shots of the site.

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that Tom is the rock/diamond Rarity is infatuated with in the season 2 opener? I just watched it today. I guess you could consider me a dumbass that's totally out of the loop, as far as the fandom community is concerned.
I should probably quit while I'm behind, so as not to embarrass myself with my inherent lack of pony knowledge.
