The Traveling Tutor and the Librarian
Epilogue

Twilight fidgeted with her quill before placing it firmly to paper. She had been delaying and waffling on writing this letter for almost the entire day, and this was going to be it. No more stalling.

Dear Green Grass,

Do you remember when I was joking about you having a crush on Princess Luna because of her wings? Well, it’s kind of funny I happened to phrase it that way, because…

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!?!?!:twilightoops::rainbowhuh::fluttershbad::raritycry::derpytongue2:

...What? Ahem. I hereby give this story two mugs of vodka out of one.

Ohohohoho you clever dude! :scootangel:

Hah! :pinkiehappy:

All in all, this was an excellent story, one of the ones I'm just happy to have read. It will be going up on my user page wall of recommended stories.

Nice wrap up. When does the sequel start?

Boy, can't wait till I get my own computer back from the shop. This machine clunks it's so old. Crosses fingers and hopes the darn thing works.

I laughed out loud:pinkiehappy:. I don't want to be a nag but I have to ask, will there be a sequel?

That was SO. AWESOME!!! :rainbowkiss:

Alas, if I only had more than one Favorite and Thumbs-Up I could give to this story, for it deserves so much more than that! :applecry:
Please accept these moustaches as a token of my appreciation and support for this wonderful story you've written. :moustache: :moustache: :moustache:

2069196 Now, I'm sure those wonderful college stallions only want to debate philosophy or economics with the cute little filly.... (Psst. You know Luna is the Matriarch of Dreams and Nightmares, right?)

2069126 (see above)

2085821 High praise indeed. Thank you very much.

2085944 Sequel? Probably not 36 chapters worth. Maybe a one or two chapter short, that's where it really takes work to make a story shine. This was a quantity story. Quality is much harder. (Edit) I go and say that, and then write *two* direct sequels and one indirect one. If you're reading this, go read them too. :rainbowlaugh:

2085740 -hic- Thanksh. Now if youul scuse me, I'mma gonna go get mah wingz.....

2086178 Don't sell yourself short this story has quality:rainbowkiss:

Congratulations, Green Grass. You're a prince by marriage. You and Shining Armor have something to bond over.

A fantastic, hilarious, incredibly sweet story. Thank you for writing this.

:fluttercry: It was a fun ride while it lasted.

I am honestly impressed that you got 36 chapters out in 2 months. I only saw this for the first time a couple days ago and was going to look at reading it sometime this week, with it suddenly complete I'm gonna do that now.

Honestly, this needs more recognition, let's hope it stays in the feature box for at least a day or two. You know, if it gets there.

Oh, no... it's over! Darn it! Well, I'll just have to make a perfect and superior clone of this story!

...

Oh, no... blood! I've made a huge mistake!

Oh, perfect way to end it. :rainbowlaugh:

:pinkiesad2: *Sighs* Whelp.... it's over. But I must say while I am saddened that the destination has finally arrived, I was glad to have taken this literary journey.

This comedic, yet poignant look at that oxymoronically rare-yet-common multifaceted jewel called 'love' was the first story of your's that I have ever read; never would I have imagined when I saw this pop up one day in the "Latest Updates" section on the front page some two months prior that a simple mouse click would take me on such a heartfelt ride. :raritystarry:

You now and forever have a dedicated follower, Mr. Georg (one who still needs to catch up on all your other works :twilightblush: ), and I will always keep an open eye on whatever new masterpiece you may grace us with.

Yay! :yay:
Man Green Grass is really lucky, not only was she out of his league to begin with, after he gets her she come with a free upgrade. :trollestia:
His parents must be wringing their hooves and having happy seizures. :pinkiegasp:

Thank you very much for sharing this awesome story with us. :scootangel:

I agree with Green Grass, its always a little sad when you finish a book/story...

well, there it goes. another amazing story completed.

...

damnit!

Epic Epilogue is LEGEN~ wait for it

DARY!
:trollestia:

Ah! Good idea - Synchronising the story to canon in time for the season 3 ender and the sequel! A smart fan-writer prepares in advance for known major character changes!

Okay, Green Grass; you've had to learn to deal with a ridiculously over-powered marefriend, now you've got to deal with having a newly-ascended demi-goddess as a marefriend! Good luck!

2085720

He's including Twilicorn in the story!

GENIOUS!
I hope this signifies a sequel?

Sigh. I so enjoyed this story too. What was a story of love that would have ended with them growing old together now ends up with Twilight watching him get old and die while she goes on to do whatever for the rest of eternity.

God I hate the thought of Twilight becoming an alicorn. I hope to Faust that unicorns who get their wings don't become immortal and only Celestia and Luna are true alicorns.

It's over? :pinkiesad2: There are no words to describe stories like these, I suppose if I were to attempt, blisteringly witty,or wildly hysterical might come close. I just wish there were a way to favorite a story multiple times. :derpytongue2:

When Twilight embraces her "Destiny", a new group of ponies will share harmony.
I really can't describe how well this story flows from beginning to end.:rainbowderp:
Thanks for a wonderful story!:pinkiehappy::yay::raritystarry::rainbowlaugh::ajsmug::twilightsmile:

What a wonderful story, Georg! It has a very warm, intimate flavor to it without being something I've tasted before. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I look forward to your future endeavors!

Dun...dun...DUN!!!
Nice story, I love all the parts that sounded dirty but weren't... Well, actually that's the entire story... Well, a good chunk of it.

Anyway, thanks for the read.

2113759

I also agree with this guy.
But my last comment still stands.

2184789 Updated chapter 11, 13, 14, 15, 16. Any recently updated chapters will include the name of the story across the top, centered and bold.

And Thus, Twilight Grew A Pair.

...of wings! What? Of course I meant wings!

Whoo. finally got through it all. Any further corrections have been commented in the GDoc

This was fantastic. The basic premise of shipping a main character with an OC has been done to death, and yet you managed to make this such a delightful, refreshing and captivating story that I just couldn't put down (figuratively, since I'm reading this on my PC) until it reached its rather inevitable conclusion (though, the colour betting pool hasn't quite been resolved. Aww :duck:). Your humour is magnificent, and I really enjoyed the Pratchett-esque footnote extras.

Congratulations on a story well done.

2188673 ah, a dream? Now I get it!

2200238 Even if it is a dream, he still has to go through the experience. Dunno but even if there are no physical consequences that's still a pretty horryfing thing to do to someone...

Hope the editing of this story for EQD is going well, and I really hope it gets accepted!

Though while re-reading it for a good laugh, found a minor error in Chapter 4:

“Just five more minutes?” Spike’s voice had that whiny note that indicated the his cold-blooded preference for thick blankets and warm fireplaces (in or in front of).

You have "the his" here, when it should just be a "his". Just helping

2214397 Arrgh, you got me. I dumped the whole lump of text into Word and spent a few hours checking right now, and found at least one error per chapter. I'll have corrected chapters up tomorrow night, I'm 20/37ths done and need to go to bed. (update) Up to 30/37ths done. Once I'm done, I'll copy/paste all the chapters back into the FimFiction document.

*facedesk* No more to the story? That's the end?!

... I can't tell if I'm happy from such a great joke, annoyed because it's over, or supremely disappointing that there wasn't more epilogue...

I'll guess a combination of all three.

2270042 Should CODE: NIGHTMARE ever happen to Twilight, the instructions in the envelope are very simple.

Cancel Princess Sparkle's library card.

2323537 Yes, one might wonder just why one of Luna's personal protection unit is stationed outside Green Grass' door, and why his brother seems to be drafted as a conversational partner for the Princess of the Night. (whistles quietly)
Pumpernickel shows up well in the latest chapter of Monster too, as well as the chapter I'm still writing. Blueblood is not the only pony stepping up his game as Celestia fades.
2317366 I'll argue that point. Chap 25 is a pivotal point in the story where the two of them finally go from denial, to acceptance. If I cut down the dialogue and descriptions, it removes much of the reasoning why they did. Yes, I know. Show, don't tell. However, it is pure hell trying to express emotions in pantomine, particularly when the couple really does need to talk to each other.

2333771 For the same reason I know Ringo Starr was in the Beatles from Liverpool, but have no idea where he lived in the town. For a newspaper to feature her house, she would have to be on 'Lifestyles of the Nerdy and Obsessed.' I've had the unmistakeable experience of walking into a house where a friend used to live and now somebody else lives there, and it's weird.

Having just finished this story I have to say this is one of the more criminally under-appreciated works on this site. I mean, just on the technical level your ability to stretch this thing out to nearly 100K words in perfect little bite sized chunks (good thing too, what with all the back and forth I did scrolling to check each glorious footnote) without it ever feeling like it was dragging along is enviable. A major accomplishment, and a delight to read from beginning to end.

2270489

What? No! That... that's cruel and unusual punishment!

Georg, this was awesome. Hunted this down from a comment on one of your other stories (Monster?), and it was worth it. Looking forward to the sequel you mentioned in that comment.

I must say, this story was made of epic proportions. You know how to include just the right amount of humor in a story. So many authors go overboard, and instead of writing a good humorous tale, they write something that even I have trouble following, let alone laugh at. Well done to you.

I actually found this story through your blog update about its sequel. I slapped a follow onto you because of Monster, but never had the time to read any other works. But when I saw that blog post, I decided I had nothing else to do and read this one in a single sitting. It had me laughing and chuckling the whole time. Awesome story that deserves more views and I can't wait for the sequel.

Oh, and if you do not mind, can I include a link to this story at the end of my next Unity update? I've got a hefty little amount of Unity followers, and I might be able to get you a few more viewers.

2510445
There's only one thing I can say to this. Yes!!

2510445
There's a sequel? SQUEEE!

I must say, I have officially read this story front to end a grand total of thirteen times since discovering it, and it still makes me laugh and smile with out fail. I never read fics twice, with the exception of Shiro's Into the Black: A Mare's Tale, and that one is not even complete yet. I just can't wrap my mind around how much this story has pulled me in. I love every moment of it!

Congratulations!!!!

This is the 3rd time fimfictions has given me a completely sleepless night. I couldn't stop reading once I had started. Fantastic work. Like and Favorite well deserved.

Now to sleep. It's over 7:30 in the morning here and as I said earlier it was a sleepless night.

This story is a perfect example of a hidden jewel behind the main pages and I'm rereading it now because it's a wonderful story and definitely deserves more views.

I loved this story, even if it did feel like some of the chapters were a bit rushed. Also, finally got footnotes to work with ebooks, so thanks for that motivation.

2943351 How did you get footnotes to work with ebooks? Inquiring minds want to know. :pinkiehappy:

Yeah, I'm a minimalist writer, or I could double the size of this creature (and halve my readership, probably). I've been doing little tweaks and bumps, including having to go through it and update all the book titles to Proper CMOS format. FYI: that mean italics, not underlining. The things we learn while writing...

2944283
I've been using a python script to batch convert the html versions of the story because that preserves chapters. I did a really ugly job of replacing the (*)'s with links to the end of each chapter so I can go to each footnote. I also added author detection in probably the worst way but at that point it had been too long and I couldn't care anymore. Still, it makes reading your stories much more enjoyable than having two tabs open or constantly scrolling.

2945479 Hm. If only there was some way to tag the original document (like maybe a [footnote=1] tag) that could have the mouse placed over it and have the text associated with it 'float' up.

I can dream. I just can't program it :pinkiehappy: It's frustrating, because I can't even beg the converted chapters from you to put up for others to enjoy, because there still is a small bit of editing going on (just converted the book titles to CMOS format yesterday, and have no doubt the EqD people will find a dozen things I've done wrong that need changed or it's Strike Three and Out.)

2949161 Well some research later I have found that you can add footnotes to fimfiction in the form of links in the story. Unforutanely the wikipedia style footnotes use some javascript that I don't think can be added by an author, though it appears easily added to the site in general. I can send you a quick demo on how to add the link footnotes for the site though, or I could even share my script with you if you want to create the chapters yourself. The script does require a small amount of configuration however, but it isn't anything too strenuous.
