Pinkie Pie wakes up from a horrible dream where her own friend slaughters the element of Laughter in her own home. In fact, she's been having this dream for weeks before Nightmare Night, building up a paranoia that shouldn't even be. When Rainbow Dash comes to confront Pinkie about her recent strange behavior, things take an expected turn.

(Below is the old description. Keeping it because it was too difficult to write to just delete, and it's too much fun to read)

Vivid visions of violent viscera and violations vex the vitality of veritable ally visitors. Vacations in variety vindicate vocal and voracious venom when said variety values clot. Voluminous? Very. The only verdict is vaudevillian vexation, without verse or vocals.

Yeah, one thumb up for one thumb down. Seems about right. Still wish someone would actually say something when they thumb it. Would feel so much more meaningful...

In terms of preference, I prefer Rocket to Insanity over Cupcakes.
Mostly because the former has less gore than the latter.

Though I'd probably prefer this story over both.
And while RD and Pinkie's conversation was nice and sweet, I can't bring myself to fave it because of everything that came after it.

If there was an alternate version that stopped at the end of the conversation, I'd have faved it no question.
As-is, however, I'll give it an upvote.

I'll be perfectly honest. This story has been in the back-burner for eons for me and I mostly wanted to get it out there to all together add to my slowly growing "Apparition Amphitheater" anthology, have something for Halloween, and to make my statement about the "element goes mad for an unknown reason and slaughters a friend" type of stories (most notably Cupcakes and Rocket). On top of being old as sin, the premise didn't change in the slightest, and we all came a long way since those stories anyway (as did the show in of itself).

The whole idea behind what happened after Pinkie and RD had their conversation was to kind of demonstrate how stupid it is for an element to go mad in the first place (I selected AJ because she was part of Rocket's story and was adverse to fashion out of practicality's sake) and to keep the whole horror vibe of the story (with the twist ending, of course).

But, yeah, I don't entirely expect this particular story to be in anyone's favorites...

If anything, "Apparition Amphitheater: Misery Tree" is a MUCH better horror story on the whole, and I give a bit of recommendation to you to check it out.

That said, once again, thank you for the comment. It's rare I get any of those, good or bad.

Makes sense.
It just felt kind of out of place, even with the horror tag.

While that is true, I still find myself drawn to stories that do that for some reason, in addition to the light and fluffy fics I usually prefer.
Mostly stories that have RD be the one doing the killing, for some reason.
For the past few weeks it was Rocket to Insanity and fics/comics made based on it.
Now, the one I'm kind of obsessed with is Rainbow Factory, and fics based on the story.

I might check out Misery Tree if the mood ever strikes me.
Which means I'll probably have read it by the time a week has passed.

And no problem.

The ending… was that an Apple Sleep Experiment reference?

I'm gonna go with no, since I don't think I've heard of that story.
