Poor Honeydew; the dreams here reminded me of Hellraiser, stuck in a kind of Purgatory, living, suffering the same dreams over and over and over and over...
This starts at quirky and gets pretty damn dark. I mean, driving someone on the road to becoming truly mad - oh god look at the bodies, they didn't even spare the children - sort of bad. It comes a little out of nowhere too. Is some outside force affecting her?
Honeydew is a fuckin' racism bitch....but I kinda feel bad for her, since not only does her cutie mark seem to be causing her extreme racism (if Celestia is right, and since she's an immortal sun goddess that has lived thousands of years, I'd think she'd know), but the dreams imply that she has an unrequited love for Lero, and craves those feelings of "to love and be loved in kind" by Lero and his herd, feelings tha her cutie mark will force her to deny until it drives her insane.
If she hadn't already been dealt with, it would've been interesting to watch racistmelon deal with her feelings. I think she's subconsciously interested in Lero, but is outwardly horrified because her mother ran off with a Minotaur. Could be wrong though.
Please don't be that guy who starts calling derpy "muffins" because of a single line in the credits that was mandated against everyone, even the staff's wishes.
6135858 No, she has been represented by a visual depiction of a muffin because hasbro mandated that they weren't allowed to call her derpy because of BS SJW complaints. Her name is still derpy, even in the minds of the staff.
I do not feel sorry for her at all. Nothing, absolutely nothing at all, can help Honeydew. Nothing will ever get through to her. She is simply an awful pony to the core, infested with self-justified xenophobia to the point where she believes all the world is wrong and she is right. Nothing can change that and quite frankly, she should be put out of her misery before she becomes an actual danger and starts hurting anything not-pony. She is dangerous and rotten to the core. Bad apples, sadly, need to be taken out of the basket before they ruin all other apples.
That's a pretty sad existence. Being so sure about one thing, thinking it as something firmly rooted in the ground, only to progressively find more and more evidence that absolutely contradicts your beliefs. And being so stubborn to refuse understanding it. Still, this was another amazing chapter
I actually really like when honeydew is written like this. It gives her more depth because it makes her relatable more than just meaningless escalation. You begin to see why she is the way she is. I could have done without the screams of torment and the devil reference especially in an orphanage. Some times honeydew reminds me of naru from love hina. Does anyone else see that or is it just me?
This needs a Dark tag. Between the drunken forest rape orgy, the orphan strangling, the Large Hadron Collider being a portal to Hell, Honeydew planning a murder, Pinkie's lust for her sister, and the implication that Celestia rewrites pony's brains on a semi-regular basis... Just... What the fuck!? Nothing in the title or the description begin to hint at the fucked up shit you got going on in here; it comes out of nowhere. It's like My Little Pony: The Aristocrats.
Poor Honeydew. Such strong convictions so strongly opposed to reality. No wonder she's going mad.
Still, this really can't be blamed on her cutie mark, try though Celestia might. There's nothing in her talent that says it has to be limited to ponies. That's all on her. And if she can't accept the idea that nonponies are people too, she will go utterly insane.
Also, I really like the Ministry of Dreams. I don't know why, but I'm a sucker for magical bureaucracies. And Pinkie working for it is all kinds of fantastic.
6136269 Given that Dash refers to Derpy by name in Xenophilia, she probably isn't.
6147995 Given what Honeydew thought she heard Morning Star say, I'd say a few those might be a case of unreliable narrator.
The process of demolition is based on Alfred Bester's The Demolished Man, and I'll go into detail on what that means, in context of this story, in a future chapter.
If I can be a shill, go to your library/bookstore and check out/buy that book along with Bester's The Stars My Destination. Besides being groundbreaking SF novels when they first came out (The Demolished Man won the first Hugo award in 1953, and if you like written SF, you'd be interested in the trailblazing stuff), they're both really good reads.
6147995 I apologize for any misunderstanding I may have caused. I certainly did not mean to mislead anyone about the tone of this story.
While some of those incidents are dark, this story, overall, isn't meant to be a dark tale. To add on what FanOfMostEverything said, some of this is unreliable narrator. When I focus on a character in a story, I'll sometimes adopt free indirect discourse based on that character. In other words, there isn't a portal to hell, there was no orphan strangling, and Honeydew misunderstands the process of Demolition.
Having said that, the end of this chapter was going to be a hell of a lot darker, but I restrained myself.
In Xenophilia: Side Stories, specifically in the 'Fish Out of Water' chapter, Honeybee specifically tells Rainbow Dash that Honeydew hates Lero and will probably hurt him. I used that scene as a jumping-off point for Honeydew outright deciding to kill Lero.
I probably should have referenced that as foreshadowing, even if in some clumsy way. "Gosh Honeysuckle, Sis sho does hate Lero! I told El Dasho that she'd maybe even hurt 'ol monkey-guy, but I sure hope she don't kill him dontcha know." Or something like that.
Is some outside force affecting her?
Eh... she makes her own choices, but family history probably has a lot to do with her outlook. Going to Beavertron also isn't really a good idea for any pony (though Celestia and Luna dealing with that particular place is two chapters away).
Still, this really can't be blamed on her cutie mark, try though Celestia might. That's all on her.
I think growing up with a mother who would burn your writings and call you stupid probably wasn't great for Honeydew's mental development, either. But Honeydew, of course, is responsible for her own choices.
6135369 or something else (was it mentioned it was a Minotaur?) I think Honeydew was traumatized by her mother's mis treatments and she's shifting the blame on her new boyfriend for the cause of it all because she can't accept her mother was ALWAYS awful...
I want her to get a happy conclusion now :/ she needs to let go of her fear and her hatred... And the 'forever' said in a feminine voice... Either that is a shadowy part of herself like in Applebloom's dreams (manifested as the ghost of her mother?) or Luna is being old school vindictive on her...
And the 'forever' said in a feminine voice... Either that is a shadowy part of herself like in Applebloom's dreams (manifested as the ghost of her mother?) or Luna is being old school vindictive on her...
Or Pinkie Pie is working at cross purposes against Princess Luna.
“Oh, we can take care of that,” and for the first time in weeks, Honeydew felt hope. “You’ll need to go to the office clerk and pick up a complaint form.”
1. DESCRIBE THE DREAMS YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT IN VIGOROUS DETAIL.
She filled out the normal info, and balked when she got to the actual complaint part. She was actually going to have to write down what dreams she was having that she found disagreeable.
Come now. Everyone saw that coming
“I’ve seen things you ponies wouldn’t believe,” Gummy said. “Attack ships on f-”
-ire off the shoulder of Orion; I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate... All those… moments… will be lost, in time, like tears… in… rain.
Bravo.
“It should take four to sex weeks for it to go into effect.”
"sex weeks"? Is that a Freudian slip on Pinkie's part, or an error?
Remarks and corrections: > Like, a whole millennia behind. "millennia" is plural. Should be "millennium". > as she swipped the form out of Honeydew’s mouth. swiped?
Huh. Damn, this mare has some serious hots for the human. She should just rut him already. Get all that bad mojo out of her system and hopefully a fantastic lay might have her reconsider her xenophobia. Or at least make her more ambivalent about Lero's relationships with ponies. But yeah, this mare needs some 'Lero' lovin' in her oven.
Please... make another interlude so I can relish in Honeydews agony more. I feel not a touch of sadness towards her and any suffering on her part helps fuel my body like the tears of orphans! I was just seriously hoping you would have her do something stupid so she'd get her neck snapped or something.
Yeesh I'm a horrible person. But I absolutely hate that mare.
6136244 Which is doubly sad since in the first year of MLP popularity, a school for autistic children voted her their mascot, proud to call her Derpy Hooves. a season later and all the soccer moms freak out and try to get rid of her...
Honeydew… I've always felt so sorry for her. It's cool how she has many unwanted feelings within her.
That is one sad little pony. She really went over the deep end.
Nice
Double nice.
Poor Honeydew; the dreams here reminded me of Hellraiser, stuck in a kind of Purgatory, living, suffering the same dreams over and over and over and over...
Lol pony racist nice good story
I'm with you Honeydew, that castle is an eyesore.

glad to see this again.
Wow, that was a ride from start to finish.
Please don't be that guy who starts calling derpy "muffins" because of a single line in the credits that was mandated against everyone, even the staff's wishes.
6135777 Derpy has been called muffins on pretty much all of the merch for the better part of two years

No, she has been represented by a visual depiction of a muffin because hasbro mandated that they weren't allowed to call her derpy because of BS SJW complaints. Her name is still derpy, even in the minds of the staff.

I am totally that guy.No, but seriously, there's a grey pegasus mare named Muffins in this story, but it isn't necessarily the pony formerly known as Derpy.
I do not feel sorry for her at all. Nothing, absolutely nothing at all, can help Honeydew. Nothing will ever get through to her. Nah, still a bitch.
6135858 the hell do we care?
6137593 Just saying that it is not a new thing.
I of course prefer derpy
Caught up.
Honeydew is mai waifu!

Also, a rather nice nod to our filling out her background.

Loved this. All of it.

Thank you for the corrections.
And yes, the "sex weeks" was a slip on Pinkie's part.

Roy Gummy rocks! That was absolutely brilliant and hysterical.
Excellent work, btw.
