"For the first time, since the first sentient being rose all sentient life on the planet was still."
It should be "since BEFORE the first sentient being rose "

Otherwise, I loved it.

Will definitely follow this story. Keep going!

Many thanks =D I made sure to get both statements corrected.

*blink blink* Its... Its been well received? :pinkiegasp:
Ty for all the faves and thumbs

Whoops! Slight genetic SNAFU there! Naturally, when the newly-minted unicorns and alicorns start discovering their magic, things are going to get extra interesting. Let alone the discovery of the subtler but equally astonishing pegasus and earth pony magic!

Now... I wonder if the ponies of Equestria have partially morphed into humans too? That would cause just as much panic as anything.

Why can I hear laughter coming from the statue of Discord? Come to think of it, Celestia's reply to Twilight was very reminiscent of her (fake) reassurance in the pilot episode. She was manipulating Twilight Sparkle in a certain direction; she knew something was going to happen. The only question is: what did she know and how much was she a responsible party?

1564042
I can see what you mean - Gaia is a hypothetical 'mass unconsciousness' of the entire world. If there was ever a world where all creatures are part of an inter-linked whole, it is the world of MLP with its near-perfectly-managed ecology.

1567219
To be frank; I actually looked up the script for the first episode to ensure Celestia's reply would be damn near exact. :pinkiecrazy:

i havent seen much stories similar to this! INSTA FAV!

so... we have bronies instead of ponies and humans... seems legit
now all we need is the equestrian side of things, where are they and how are they going to react to all this when they start seeing supersonic jets, artificial satellites, passenger planes, guns, trucks, electricity (modern day solar-energy/nuclear reactor stuff, not the coal+water=steam), tanks, Self-Propelled guns and all the other lovely things that stand out from pony society
one more thing: make Rainbow Dash try and race either an F-22 or F-35, they're much larger than her but on their basis, that makes it slower since the term for anything that flies without ponies is dubbed 'airship', hell, even the Boeing 747s could outrun her and they go at about 0.85 cruising for the newer ones. Truth be told, Rainbow is not gonna be happy

1569911
you mean mach .85 right? Cause according to the show Rainbow can achieve Transonic Mach 1 ( 720 mph (assuming ideal conditions), the speed of sound. Lol I never knew the MPH conversion of M1; 1 miles per 5 seconds is mind melting.)
.85 mach = 612 mph. The major advantages the machines have over her is the fact that they are machines and therefore their performance doesn't vary like a living creatures would and they have as much endurance as they have gas.
F-35's aren't designed for supersonic ( greater than M1) cruising for long periods of time but can maintain mach 1.2 (864 mph) for 150 miles (about 30 seconds). So on a straight flight Rainbow and the jet might be nose to nose, until the jet goes supersonic. It wouldn't be close, and Rainbow would lose.
Finally Rainbow has only achieved mach 1 with the assistance of gravity, and in doing so she doesn't conform to conventional laws of physics. She's moving faster than 9.8m/s, but her wings are tucked meaning shes providing no thrust so friction should be slowing her down. While going parallel with sea level I don't think she can go transonic. :rainbowdetermined2: But Dash is Dash and she had Pegasi magic, so there's really no telling what the outcome would be.

1575673 F-35s can go transonic without the need of gravity or needing to be at sea level, in truth, the jet could outrun if not outlast her

Ah! I thought so. Yeah, it makes sense that Twilight would initially blame herself. That girl is all set up to send a former-human psychologist's kids through school and college (probably Ivy League too).

Good characterisation here of both Twilight and Pinkie Pie. It is in-character fhat Pinkie would see the way to defuse a crisis would be to hold a party. If everyone is too busy having a good time, they're not thinking about problems and are therefore not panicking, rioting or doing anything else normally associated with a wide-scale crisis.

Poor Applejack! Still, it just goes to show that not all skills are transferable between body types. This is also the first confirmation that the internal musculature of Equis Sapiens Anthromorphus is significantly different to that of pure ponies. That said, the fact she nearly knocked that tree over suggests that she's retained her earth pony boosted strength; another indicator that the magics of Equestria have been passed over.

Fluttershy would probably be panicking but too focussed on helping her little friends to have enough time to worry excessively about it. I imagine she will be reluctant to show herself initially though, being ashamed of her new 'deformity'. Rarity will be panicking but for a different reason - none of her dresses fit anymore! :raritydespair: Rainbow Dash will be very nervously trying out her new body and wondering what the Hay is going on. Additionally, her high and fast flying might have revealed to her the existence of Equestria's new neighbours in the form of a Predator drone or possibly even an EC-135 or TR-1 reconnaissance 'plane.

Regarding Dash's top speed, there is a lot of disagreement in the fan community. On Earth, it would be necessary to be flying at about Mach 5 (3,700mph) to create that 'mach cone' effect she generates as she creates a Sonic Rainboom. If she can still achieve those speeds in the lower atmosphere, she's faster than any human aircraft, crewed or robotic, ever created. However, there's no telling how that will translate into Earth's physics. At the very least, though, she's an 800mph pegasi-woman.

Now... Let's see what's happened with the Princesses. Can you say 'Physical Gods'?

1577549 I see that happening too, but with our numerous spy satellites going around the globe being first to pick up the new neighbors
oh and that TR-1? I think that's a U-2 you're trying to specify

oh oh oh! make the Humans and ponies meet~!

wait, recruitment? Pass?

Just what is going on here? You got me curious as to what is happening.

I would like to direct everyone's attention to this little video right here:

As picked apart here, RD can go 5 times the speed of sound, and upon Sonic Rainbooming, she goes 10 times the speed of sound.
And as of the season 2 finale, RD can cause a Sonic Rainboom, GOING STRAIGHT UP.

when will the ponies and humans mean?

I'm looking for one or two pre-readers, people who don't mind knowing a bit ahead in the story and the major plot devices to pre-read my chapters to give me an outsiders perspective.

1616649
Problem with the video... no actual statistics and math. I based her max speed on the fact that she produces a sonic-rainboom at the speed of sound (Mach 1) which is the speed on earth that a sonic boom is produced. As for going straight up? When has is ever showed her produce the boom while going vertical? She's gone almost vertical after it happens but never has she caused one while going straight up...

1617800
Soon very soon; I just got some plot development left to do.

Passed? Passed what for Celesta's sake?!?

Something tells me that Cherilee might shortly become the most important educator on the planet. Just teaching 'uni-bronies' to control their magic could enable her to command fees of $5000 per hour or more. :pinkiehappy:

As for going straight up? When has is ever showed her produce the boom while going vertical? She's gone almost vertical after it happens but never has she caused one while going straight up...

AFAIK, Rainbow has done precisely four sonic rainbooms on screen. Two were in a near-vertical dive (at flight school and at the Young Fliers Competition), one was at the moment of ground contact (the "sonic rain-nuke") and once was whilst at the top of a parabolic arc (at the wedding). So you can certainly say she's powerful enough a flier to reach trans-sonic speeds whilst in a climb, fast enough that, as she levels off, her flight thrust sends her supersonic.

1619017
Okay then, case in point, RD creating a Sonic Rainboom while more or less going straight up: Go To 39:05

i wonder, does the ponies know they are human?

1622049

Well, they're not 'human', per se, as far as I can tell, they're anthro-ponies, a hybrid of the two.

I know you all are probably happy to see this update but I'm gonna be honest for a moment. My literary well is starting to dry up a little. I don't rightly know if I'm cut out for writing a whole story, especially this one, I like to put my writing up on this site but I really wasn't expecting as many favorites and watchers as I have gotten for this story. I am enjoying my attempt at entertaining you all, and when I reach some more important plot points in this story it might not seem as stale as this latest chapter has been. I sort of have a plan in mind for this story, but the stuff in between is really fuzzy and unclear, and inevitably, going to read rather dryly until my skills are a bit more refined. Plus I haven't the slightest clue how Fluttershy and Rainbow would react to the situation I've put them in.

So, the pones get to keep their abilities, but the humans don't get anything. How cruel the universe can be.

1671650
:pinkiecrazy: Oh I don't know about that.

1671660
Or at least they have yet to figure out how to use any of their new found powers.

1671662
As it stands there is no magic on earth. For now. The worlds are touching, but at the moment it is as if they are meeting through a veil. Only the strongest influences are able to pass through the veil, but as the veil breaks down more and more will exchange between the worlds.

1671692
Ah, I see. Am I safe in assuming that time is running faster on Earth than in Equestria?

I'm not sure how to describe the time disparity. They do run at the same speed, but the plot elements occur out of sync. I keep fast forwarding through Godfrey's experiences because he is the only character on earth, and thus I don't have a lot to write about him, but I have to analyze each of the mane 6 on Equestria and that is a lot of writing. So in order to equalize the chapter lengths I move through important events for Godfrey on Earth and I jump to each of the mane 6's experiences for Equestria.

1671555 and we will still be here waiting for that well to fill up again. not many people can make fluttershy and rainbowdash react right in a situation like this but i think you did pretty good.

awsome chapter by the way. Can't wait to see what comes next! If your looking for ways to fill your well back up you could introduce a new character or something. Perhaps Godfrey has a best friend. What of his family? His co workers. Or you can always try a plot twist. I've got faith that you'll find a way to keep your well full of fresh ideas. Keep going with this and keep up the good work!:pinkiehappy:

when will the both world meet?

1674343
Soon; I need to set the final bits of Godfrey's back story and get Rarity's reaction but once those are in place the worlds will be ready to collide :pinkiecrazy:

You know, Fluttershy suffering from Cutie Mark Failure Syndrome (CMFS) is scary. It isn't as scary as Twilight and Pinkie's flirtations with CMFS (in "Lesson Zero" and "Party of One" respectively) but it is scary in its own way. You know, she's a deeply introverted personality and she profoundly values the few friends she is comfortable with. It makes sense that her animal charges running away from her would trigger a psychotic episode. I do wonder if they will ever return (at least under the same terms) because I suspect that the new Anthropony species might be significantly different in some ways; their instincts might now be saying 'predator' rather than 'fellow herbivore'.

1671650
It's more of a case of unfamiliarity than inability. The previous chapter shows that former human anthro-unicorns are having 'wild' magic outbursts. The only reason that the former human anthro-pegasi can't fly is unfamiliarity with pegasus air magic (it's long been pointed out that pegasi wings are too small to allow flight purely by aerodynamic forces; there must be a magical element to it. As soon as somepony teaches them how it is done, they'll catch on soon enough. We saw that Twilight had difficulty adapting to a bipedal stance and learning to use fingers is probably somewhat easier than translating instinctive wing movements into flight.

This might be how the Mane Six get their introduction to the former humans - by being sent by Celestia to help set up academies to teach former humans how to use their abilities in non-destructive ways.

1679981
Some stuff the author has said suggests to me that the two worlds will be somehow joining. Not entirely sure how.

1680037
Personally, I think that they've physically merged with one overlaying the other. So, Equestria and its neighbours are now a new continent of Earth or distributed around as new parts to the existing continents.

1680044
Most likely something like that.

I just want to offer my congratulations to that anonymous news-anchor. Going in to work as usual on the day after the end of the human race takes guts, professionalism and a nearly-supernatural lack of imagination and self-awareness. Everything, in other words, that a media personality needs to function. :rainbowlaugh:

1686937
My thoughts as I wrote that passage:
<Ok he stumbles into his living room and then what? Cliche and go for the tv? But I've got the end of the human race going down... How about a really dedicated news anchor? The government's gotta get their messages out somehow:pinkiehappy:>:derpytongue2:

I didn't go too in depth but I made a few allusions about the whole change having an anti-collapse clause running in the background. Part of the change was making people temporarily susceptible to accepting the change, and not overreacting and causing riots and etc. If I were asked to describe the science behind it I would say the docility was induced by chemicals released into the body during the transformation.

Hmm... Interesting. It looks like everyone's brains have been messed around with so that the ex-ponies have suddenly acquired a nudity taboo... well, not taboo because Twilight went without all morning without even thinking about it, more a kind of semi-instinctual urge to start wearing clothes. I'm more and more sure that this isn't just blind chance. Someone or something has planned this out.

I also think that Celestia is telling the truth... at least some of it. She doesn't know all the details but something tells me that she knows the broad strokes of what's going on. I sense an exposition chapter on the way.

Let me guess: What she's going to see is Godfrey panicking. :facehoof:

The image in my head from the last paragraph is the scene in half life 2 when Barney and the scientist are talking about the cat from failed portal experiments.:pinkiecrazy: Please tell me he didn't get telephased! Awesome chapter as usual! Keep going!

There are several points that I am unclear on:

Point the first, Earth seems to have experienced several months worth of happenings in the time that Equestria has experienced several days. I base this deduction on the fact that the humans have been able to retool their industrial capacity to produce clothes for pony bodies, and that there has been enough time for some people to have surgery to remove extraneous wings.

Point the second, how is the police officer holding much less operating a taser? Not to mention he latter operates a radio while seeming to still keep the criminal covered with his taser, things that I would expect a pony would be incapable of.

Third and final point, why does Twilight not notice that the policeman is a pony? Is she just too shocked to notice? Neither party seems to notice that the other possess a physical form that they should not.

1712920
A summary of events thus far: First Twilight discerns a 'prophecy' of the end of the world, similar to our own. All the bad stuff is due to go down on December 21st at 12 midnight. On the aforementioned day everyone experiences a simultaneous need to go to sleep. When they both wake up both worlds find they have met on the middle ground in form. Humans grew fur, wings, horns, etc. and ponies became bipedal. On Earth several months pass, allowing the readers to get a understanding on how the human world has adapted to becoming bipedal multi-colored ponies while only a matter of hours has passed on Gaia, demonstrating the few potential problems the more suggestible, less in number, and quicker to adapt ponies have experienced.

Consolidating the timeline was extremely hard. To be honest I pulled a Deus Ex Machina with the time flow. In reality I should have just made Godfrey a cop from the start, but I wanted to show the more dramatic changes already occurring on Earth seeing as in reality the ponies really didn't have much adapting to. On top of that I planned on a similar time disparity on Gaia so that the time lines lined up but I got impatient and decided to make Godfrey and Twilight meet the night of the party.
But don't worry, I didn't get impatient and blind, I will accommodate for the time lapse.

Finally, again, everyone has hands and fingers... their feet are still psuedo-hoofed with thick callous along the bottom. So holding the perpetrator under taser point while navigating the other hand to use the radio is quite possible.

As for Twilight's mistake, the only 'men in uniform' she has probably ever seen in her life are the royal guards of Canterlot and the sheriff of Appaloosa, plus the more docile ponies in power probably wouldn't go so far out of their way to intimidate and threaten a perp as a nyc academy trained cop would.

Make the officer say, "Ey! we arent ponies we are humans!"

Twilight: "Whats a human?"

Officer: "well basically they USED to look like you"

twilight: "Really? what happened to them?"

Officer:"Well we been turned into pony like creatures... our scientists are working on some kind of machine to turn us back

1712920 you need to re-read the story considering both humans and ponies have the same body configurations. ponies took on human based form but still have wings and horns while the humans gained said appendages and adapted a more docile nature. :unsuresweetie:

1714751
Yes, exactly, Twilight looks (sort of) like the police officer used to and the police officer looks (sort of) like Twilight used to. I would expect them to comment on this.

1714259
Wait, so the people on earth are still bipedal? I thought that they had turned into ponies. I guess I do need to reread the story.

That clears up most of my issues.
