Airstream

By windward strides and holy ghosts, what rests beside the barren coasts?

Didn't know this would take place within the same universe. Looking good so far. I await the next chapter.

Ooooo, spooky. I like. The opening sequence was really creepy and ominous, making me want to see what's about to happen. This is one of the most perfect fanfics to read for the Halloween season. It's a shame you didn't start it much earlier.

On a side note, I like the names of these characters. The don't describe the pony's personality or career choice, as if their parents were psychic, but are just random names that are pleasing to the ear.

Here's hoping you finish this before October ends.

It's not going to be too long, and I've a few chapters on standby, waiting for me to edit them and give the once over. And the names will be much more relevant than you think. Final chapter will load on Halloween.

Liking the mood building so far...

Feels just like some of the best horror movies!

When a creepy mysterious figure, speaking a prophetic warning, tells you not to enter the forest. Don't enter the forest!:facehoof:

Oh well, and now begins the killing... :pinkiecrazy:

they're soooo fucked!:pinkiecrazy:

so far, it's awesome!:raritystarry::pinkiehappy:

Well that just gave Zap Apples a fairly horrible undertone... :rainbowderp:

Yeah, Ponies are not going to be able to stand their ground against wolves when blood is in the air. They are herbivores after all. The prey animals.

One... or two down? Will wait to wait and see...

creepy, those squirrels remind me of that one article i read about this one Siberian squirrel whom had attacked and killed a dog, i don't remember if the cause was hunger or something else though (squirrels do eat meat though).

That's pretty horrific. I wonder what's up with the moon, is Luna horrible pony in this universe or something?

Your description of the Everfree's watchful presence was pretty creepy. That forest has never felt quite so evil and ominous. Although you'd think Zecora would be slightly more inclined to help those ponies rather than just warn them and leave them in peril. Oh, well, it's a horror fic.

The hell is wrong with Everfree? Sheesh, Twilight sure knows how to pick a base.

perfect, just perfect!:raritystarry:

the everfree sure is scary when you don't know the rules, and everything inside....dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_Octavia_O_O.png talk about an impenetrable defense...

Luna might be going a little bit unhinged from her time in captivity...

Gotta agree with Mossflower though, the Everfree is scary. Don't go in if you mean it harm! :unsuresweetie:

Great story! The spider one was probably the scariest for me. Body horror like that tends to do it... :fluttershyouch:

I can't sleep now... but i really like how you made this enter twine with your other stories

This just made me love the Everfree even more. Good show Airstream. I honestly would love to go into the forest during the blood moon to course pay my respects that is for the forests great gifts and power.

cheers:twilightsmile:

Just finished Lines and Webs, saw that this is related......

I don't think I'm going to like this story. I'm going to read it, and I don't doubt that it's well written, but I don't think I'm going to like it.

Frankly, I'm really looking forward to it.

**edit**

Yup, dark/Gothic ponies, gruesome mythological cryptids, and ruthless storytelling. Bravo.

That's... wow. Dark as hell, Airstream.

Pretty brutal.

But very good storytelling, glad i read this one :)

:pinkiegasp::pinkiegasp::pinkiegasp::pinkiegasp: I will never look at the zap apple episode the same way ever again. Ever...

Clever idea with the mimic squirrels. This story is freakin awesome.

Mare Nymphs? Rofl. Nice! At least his death wasn't painful.

One of the best stories evah!

brutally beautiful, loved it!

He never was able to finish his sentence, not seeing the lone timberwolf that rushed at him from the side, hitting the Pegasus with enough force to bear him to the ground, clawing at his throat and biting him across the face, his crimson blood flying through the air in oddly elegant streams, as the wolf's packmates rushed forward to collect on the kill and to bring down the others.

Clever girl....:trollestia:

As has already been said, that puts a dark spin on the Apples' yearly rituals.

Not much of a narrative arc, but chilling imagery. To say nothing of the dark context it gives for Twilight's rebellion (and Radiant's(?) guidance).

Nope, not evil. Predatory, yes; but not evil.

Why do I think it not evil? Because evil- in my opinion -is not a state of being. It is a conscious choice to do wrong to others for a selfish reason.

The forest doing this to innocents that don't deserve it? The fact that innocents have to die is evil, but the forest is not.

It is simply the natural order. In its pure form, it is truly wild and untamed.

And gleefully frightening.

This is Old Magic here. We see it as evil because it destroys terribly.

Before I say my piece, I must state the fact that I don't do horror. Of all the genres out there, horror is one that I've never been able to get.

That said, this story is a gem of a tale. Gleefully terrifying, while being terribly beautiful.

A rare gem in a genre I don't usually read.

Bravo!

This is like the 6th series that references Zap apple trees being fertilized by pony remains that I've stumbled across so far lol. I love it.
