Cuteness overload
You certainly managed to bring a smile to my face with this story. From the reason that Spike fell ill to the conclusion of the story, it gives a sense of appreciation for how close Twilight and Spike really are. This is something that the show rarely does much to capture and is a beautiful thing to see here.

Personally, I've always seen Twilight and Spike having a mother/son relationship. Nonetheless, I loved this.

Actually dragons at most are Mesothermic. Since if he was Ectothermic then he'd be hibernating in the winters since it would be to cold to produce a sufficient amount of heat to keep him active. Just like Tank the tortoise, or Fluttershy's other reptilian friends. That and him swimming in lav awould be cook him alive if he didn't have an internal moderator to keep the intense heat from lava to a minimum.
Although personally I think of dragons as Arcanathermic [needing magic / magical emanations for metabolic processes]. Since hordes are needed for their growth, developement, and power. As well as lava (and any heat source) is a magically raw / powerful conduit of magic. But since noone uses Arcna/Arcanotherms for their fics. Mesothermic is what a dragon would be [enough internal heat and metabolism to produce fire, as well as regulate when they are in lava, hit with flames, or in cold conditions. But external heat as well to augment their own internal reserves].

Absolutely outstanding! It is when you capture an audience like that where stories are at they're best. I almost felt like Twilight was even singing to me a little bit, as I haven't been feeling to good recently and it was calming. Wrapping your hoof and tail around the essence of the characters like this is skill, and a exact to-show visualization. Well done. VERY well done.
