Jade Ring

The purpose of a story is that it's a story. It can be more, but it can never be less.

Applejack has put up with Rarity's barbs and insults for years. When the seamstress finally crosses the line, what lengths will the young farmer go to in order to set things right?

Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's masterpiece of terror 'the Cask of Amontillado.'

Yay first comment... and i have to say very well written short Story really good sir or ma'am :pinkiehappy:

More or less an exact duplicate of the 'Cask of Amontillado', but that's what you were going for. You did this justice.

Cool, this is finally on FIMfiction too! :yay:

Hey read your story a while back on fanfiction and, while dark and creepy, loved it and faved it! Insta fav and thumbs up!:yay:

Damn....harsh...:rainbowderp:
:ajbemused::No it wasn't...

Dear sweet god in his gold paved heaven. Yes.

Excellent. Well done

1500568 Both excellent points. I didn't want to do a shot-for-shot redo, so I picked a few of the more resonant beats.

An excellent rendition, good Sir! You win :moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache:

Jade Ring, You never dissapoint. :yay::yay::yay:

This charade won't last very long if Twilight's curiosity gets the better of her. Spike will probably be dragged along and... that won't be pretty day for Applejack.

This was a good short story. The only thing I knew about the original was from a Simpsons parody, A Cask of Amontillad'oh' so I decided to give this a read. I recognised many of the different parts and overall thought that this was a great story. I really like fics that tell good stories in few words. (READ DISCORDANT)

The narrator's name is Montresor.

It's strange, I found this not long after I had finished Edgar Allan Poe in my English class, and this was one of the stories of his that we skipped. :pinkiecrazy:Could it be that there are forces influencing our lives in such a manner, demanding that it be read in some form? Such as an amazing story website?:rainbowwild:
Great work. Captured the essence of Poe near perfectly.

TWIST: Sometime after Rarity is sealed away, the POV snaps back to her, alone and chained with reality finally settling on her, she mumbles to herself "but I'm pregnant with his foal".

5245936 The evil side of me now wants to write this so bad...

Eh, maybe next Halloween.

I'd read that.

Isn't this a parody of the story "The cask of Amontillado" By Edgar Allan Poe?

5484139 Yes, but I see it more as an homage if anything.

5484241 my bad wrong choice of words :pinkiesad2:

Hi! I just wanted to let you know I've done a reading of this story on YouTube. Thank you for writing such an awesome story :)

5485065 And thank you for such an incredible reading!

I love this, but I wish you'd gone more pony than Poe.

5539306 This was, I think, my third or fourth piece of pony fiction and my first attempt at horror of any kind. Looking at it now, I guess I didn't find that sweet spot of perfect balance between original material and cartoon horses.

I still like it, though. Glad you did too.

Ha. Did you know this was supposed to be part of a series of horror tribute stories? Still not sure why I never tried my hand at 'Apple Pet Sematary' and 'the Wicker Mare.'

If you've learned more since then, maybe you should!

(Also, I hate to say it, but I'm trying my hand at this same premise now, since I had such strong feelings about how I thought it should be done. c.c)

I like it. Being a big fan of Poe, I liked how you had the macabre tone of his stories down pat. If there's one problem, I'd wish it had been slightly more original. But for what it is, it's decent.

Um... wow. Uh, not really sure what to say to this.

Listened to lost's reading and... well... :unsuresweetie:

also what does "In pace requiescat" mean?

5716490 'May he rest in peace.' It's the last line of the original story. I imagine it's AJ saying it to Mac.

Hey, I wrote a review for this story! It can be found here.

Hello, I'm a creepypasta reader and I like this story, you don't mind if I read this on my channel?

7515413 Go ahead! Just send me a link when it's finished.

7515971 It'll be on Wednesday so look forward to it. Beside I needed another MLP reading since 'Cheerilee's Garden'

Nice spin on my favorite Edgar Allan Pie story.

Personal use? Absolutely.

If you're looking for more awesome horror tales (including a few from yours truly) to have a physical copy of, why not pick up a copy of Nightmare Nights.

Agreed, it is a good reading of this story.

excellent piece, deserves a real round of applause. I always notice that Alan Poe is easy to interpret into any text. As if his style was made by a universal method. In an essay about his life https://samploon.com/free-essays/edgar-allan-poe/ it is written that he often resorted to creating a stereotyped narrative that simply modernized one of his characters. And as a result, it came out original. Everytime.
