I love you so much. I hate to admit it, but no pony in the world matters to me more than you. But it has to end. I have to stop you. No matter what.

The sky is full of time
She went out with an alibi.
OH GOD, I did not see that coming!
I feel like I know where this is going... And if I'm correct, then this will be the best goddamn fanfiction to ever grace this site. Power to you man, and finish this sucker up.
Aurora.....well.........that was sad.
Rarity and Fancy Pants' exchange seemed weird. Kind of like her speech in the prison, her pseudo-Nietzschean-I-am-the-elite-priveleged-and-cursed-to-do-as-I-wish just doesn't gel with her caring about his words or blaming her father.
After all, what is the point of power if you can't use it to save or destroy anyone you want? And didn't she swear off being an element of harmony? It just didn't make sense that his speech seemed to be getting to her.
Poor Aurora though.
And also poor the couple dozen pegasi who got burned to death trapped in the Gallery.
"Whom the gods love dies young."
- Herodotus
I think this describes the whole series in one simple quote.
Commence read.
Poor Aurora. She helped and then it was all she could do. Hope that it wasn't in vain.
God Ham,this may have started as a run of the mill clopfic, but it will end as a masterpiece in the world of fanfics, congrats, this fic has helped get through weeks of hell,nd for that,i salute you

I'm really looking forward to the perspective of Gaze in the next chapter. Also, I've forgotten Peregrine's color ever since you first mentioned it, and I've been picturing him as having similar shading to Pip. Oh yeah, and how will society deal with some of the foals raping others (Like Peregrine and Twist) if they all escape? So many questions, It's like Lost all over again.
dear Celestia this is the greatest story every!!!
Bah! BAAAH! BAH! Now I hafta wait again.... FFFFFFFFFFF- Owell, that gaze cock omelette better get some serious dead. And Fancy, too.
Oof. And here I was wondering if Aurora was going to get her cutie mark in the escape.
Sleep well Aurora, may a flight of angels carry you to your rest.
: Oh my God, they killed Aurora!
: You Bastards!
But seriously Hamgravy, WHY? Aurora was a sweet innocent foal and you killed her! WHY?!
“Only the noble of heart are called to difficulty.” - Kierkegaard
That just seem's perfect do describe all the foals in the Gallery. Poor Aurora...
holy crap. DAT CHAPTER
Well... I can't believe I got teary eyed when Aurora died. That was really amazing.
farewell aurora.
Gaze seems entirely too happy about this outcome, just as he seemed excited about having Twilight staying there. He either thrives on anarchy or has had an ulterior motive this entire time like, say, a sibling trapped in the gallery, maybe one that likes the sky.
Probably the later, given that he's supposedly been watching over Silver but she's been able to make her plans uninterupted for the most part.
2346526 and what were silver and twi talking about at the start of their part? getting rid of who?
I am awestruck
This is the only time through your entire series that I have cried.
Curse you.
At first I was like

Hey, thanks! It's really great to hear that something I wrote was able to help someone through a tough time. Glad I could help in whatever small way I did.

Hopefully I can pull off a more satisfying ending, though.

I'm not happy to see her go, but I felt it needed to happen for a few reasons. I don't really want to mention them all here for reasons of spoiling future chapters. But this is an event that is going to impact the development of more than one pony's character.
I just want to say, I'm really blown away by the response this chapter got from everyone. I've never written a death scene before (unless you count the bunny in Rarity's Garden), and I was a little nervous about getting this one right. It looks like it affected a lot of you, though, and I'm glad of that. The outpouring of comments has been really touching.Thank you all for your very kind words. They mean a lot!
"It’s okay..." Aurora said. "I appreciate you trying. And thanks so much for helping me see the sky..." she added weakly. She was so very tired. "The sky." she thought to herself as her mind drifted away. There was one thing she wanted more than to see the sky. She always tried to focus on helping others, on what was in front of her rather than on what she left behind. Her own past was not something she liked talking or even thinking about. In the end, the memory she prized the most kept fading away until she couldn't recall it at all. Now she wanted nothing more than to remember again.
Aurora heard Twist in the distance, but she couldn't make out the words. Everything felt so distant. She was heading somewhere, drifting through the endless void. A journey to who knows where, accompanied only by the distant voices of foals she got to know over the years she spent in the Gallery. She never felt this sleepy in her life.
"Aurora?" a voice called out to her clearly and distinctively, silencing every other sound. She knew who this voice belonged to, it was one of her earliest memories. With a final effort, she opened her eyes one last time. In front of her was Twist, crying. She was saying something but Aurora couldn't hear her at all.
"Aurora, is that you?" the voice said again. She remembered now. She came home early that day. Her only remaining memory of her mother's voice.
"Yes." she replied as she stared into Twist's eyes. "I'm home."
The words never left her lips.
Wow, I shed a tear.
Death of a baddass.
A manly tear was shed.
That was low...
You overdid a little. When everypony started shouting thanks to Aurora, it was obvious how it would end.
Still... sad.
Of all the foals in the Gallery, Aurora's future in the outer world could have been one of the most interesting, complicated, promising. A pony who had lived in the Gallery for so many years, who missed education and everything else, but who still was truly alive and had hopes. Considering you haven't killed that many ponies, I was hoping to learn about Aurora's new life.
...if Equestria is going to survive that is. I have no idea whether Celestia was right about balance.
Hmm... Was it ever mentioned what happens to the foals when they get too old for the Gallery? I don't remember.
Daaaaamn. I have never cared so much about an OC in my life. And she's dead. That's ok Ham, I didn't need those feels today.
Well, now have to add "death of a sex slave to free her brethen" to the list of things that made me cry. It's not a long list

It was obvious how it would end the second the injuries were mentioned. And the lack of movement. And the blood everywhere.
Still made me cry.
I cried so goddamned hard when she died.
My failsafe was intended to destroy the evidenright ace in the event of a raid from the authorities,
Holy crap dude, When I was reading this out loud, I got tears. Gonna make sure to have that moment turn out great in editing.

Thank you, it's fixed. Still amazed as to how I missed some of these typos for so long.
10802369
Thank you! Glad to hear it still has an impact.
This chapter makes me cry so much every time I read it.
None of those foals will ever forget Aurora though.
Dammit. This series was supposed to be a clop. A clop about horrible organized foal-rape, sure, but a clop.
Why.. just why does it open up the OTHER waterworks? Why?

Your guess is as good as mine. I had no plan other than "write clop" when I started this. And now, here we are.
