Diets shifted to include more mushrooms and less grain, fashion tended towards more blues and blacks, and the tourism industry pivoted away from sunsets and towards starscapes for their advertisements, but life continued.
No matter how great the societal shakeup, things eventually settle into a new normal.
Even within the walls of Canterlot Castle, little changed save the décor. Nobles play their games of influence, threats, and bribes, each seeking as much power as they can seize (without drawing the Queen's attention). The biggest change of Queen Nightmare Moon's reign was how it allowed a few new players to join the board. But even they, eventually, got used to playing the game.

It stands on its own, but I could also easily imagine this as being a piece of a 10,000 word story or even a 100,000 word story.
I LOVE this and the worldbuilding that surrounds this! Silce of life in an AU where villains still scheme and plot and plan the demise of Equestria, even if it's already been taken over
Would love to see this expanded on in the future someday either with a sequel or perhaps another chapter after the contest is over!
