Interesting idea, kind of wonder if our MC will embrace his Utahraptor side as he grows. when his ideas of the ponies start to fade and as a pack leader his pack and live under if will eventually become his responsibility. Will he choose to protect those in front of him or those behind him. I know that will be for a future section, still I am invested to see how his plays out.
Looking forward to what other monsters who have planned to bring back from prehistory to the mlp world and how some of the other races view them and the raptors.
Most out of left field story idea, but done so bloody well it's actually beautiful. Bravo.

That's not ominous at all. Someone somewhere is gonna have the bright idea to hunt ponies, aren't they? Nightmare, Discord, Tirek, Storm King... all seemingly perfect times to hunt new prey, but in truth another way to repeat history. Each time the ponies recover and each time the princesses' wrath would be incurred in the end.

By the way, I believe when you wrote "colony" you mean by 100's or 1000's because it would make more sense if you divide the colony into packs with their own territories like you see in the animal kingdom. Or is it they they evolved to be smart enough to be in a colony under one leader?
OH! each pack could be big enough to be a tribe with their own names and social structure due to 50,000 years of adaptation.
